I've gotten LaserDiscs at Goodwill occasionally, they used to be there all the time. Then I stopped seeing them, so I asked if they ever get them in. They say yes, but they are on a list of things never to put out for sale. I don't think that lasted long, I see them again now, but it's strange that they would restrict it.

I just see classic games so rarely at Goodwill, it's strange. It's always the same licensed/sports NES/SNES games, barring the one time I got a CIB Donkey Kong Country for $4...

There's one local store run here that actually uses garage sale type prices, I think when they do get NES games in they are $0.75 each.

Once, when I was at Goodwill, mixed in with the VHS tapes was a $40 copy of Mario Andretti Racing for the Genesis. When I asked the clerk why it was priced so high, she replied "It's a Mario game." I quietly put the game back and left the store.

Now that's what you call product knowledge.

Only time I have seen a laser disc player at GW it was broken and they had a price tag of $30 on it. They had a stack of laser disc movies there as well so I hooked it up to an electrical plugin to try it out. After powering on, it would not eject the disc tray to let me try a movie out. The least the place could have done was to try the unit out like I did before putting a $30 price tag on it. I went back a couple days later and the player was gone, so I am guessing that somebody bought it without trying it. Sorry for them for the money wasted.

This is apparently a very common practice.
That's actually a good idea to make some money on the side. Somewhat unethical and shit but makes sense.

I always find video games at goodwill. I've been going to mine for the past 2 years and ive found NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, PS1, PS2, PSP, PC, Game Boy, N64, Xbox, 3DS, Games there. The most ive paid for the nes, snes, sega genesis, ps1, ps2, and xbox games for about $4.00 ea. The only systems ive found at my goodwill is a Super Nintendo just the console only for about $25.00 and a Original Xbox for about $25.00 with all the cords and no controller. I also found out that not individual goodwill stores price the games. The corporate of the goodwill store prices them. I usually go there at least once a week and manage to find alot of games during the Spring.

I agree that some Goodwill's price based on size of the cart, I got NES games 5 dollars each, and N64 games 4 dollars each. It's silly but much better than the Goodwill OP posted about!

That happened at a Buy Back store, bundled in with other common NES titles was, a $56 copy of Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers 1 for NES. I didn't stand idly though, I made the young lady go online to ebay and price check it. Embarrassed by what she saw she quickly yanked the copy right out of the display case, repriced it cheaper, and never seen again by my eyes after that.

Whomever was in charge of pricing the games confused the first game with the harder to get (and far pricier) second game (hell I paid $30 a pop for a copy of it and Duck Tales 2 months before at a different place).

My Sister Picked up a Baby Pac Man Arcade Machine at a goodwill near her house in NJ..for $50.00

The store was TIRED of having it around, moving it around and told her if she didn't buy it they were going to dump it(who knows where)
50 was the get it out of here price..

Her husband having a retro basement Arcade restored it (it needed work) and he sold it..for over $1000.00
( I don't know why he sells the awesome machines he gets)

I've been finding some pretty good stuff at Goodwill recently and have made some damn good money off of their PC software. However, the one issue they have been having lately is pricing multi-disc games higher than single disc ones. So for instance a single disc game would be $3 and a double disc one would be $5, a game with three disc would be $7 or $8 and so on. It's just one game so I really don't see why they are doing this but luckily not all locations have started doing this.
