I vote for "Heavy Barrel". Seriously, this game always gets overlooked. A blast in two player mode.

I like Guerrilla War the best of the bunch...Heavy B is a good game, but this guy is asking SNK titles...Not Data East.

I like Heavy Barrel and all (and Data East more than I used to), but Guerilla War is even better with 2 players, especially the NES version.
Not one of the options, but similar genre: Iron Tank.
If you can't do it with 8 bits, you don't need to do it!

Odd that we have all those 8-way rotating stick shooters and one beat-em-up.
Thematically they're all similar, but P.O.W. is a "one-of-these-things-is-not-like-the-other" standout from a game-play perspective.
