I'll make sure that Frankie shows more leg and knees in the next one. I tried to hide away the sex appeal, but let's face it sex sells and Frankie oozes it.

Thanks to everybody who checked out Episode 4!
Since we're in a generous mood tonight, here's a link to the Batman Arkham City sketch.

"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
Nice!
With a humble heart, on bended knee...
Recording went surprisingly smoothly except for one instance where Frankie got hit in a sensitive area with a batarang thrown by yours truly.
I don't think I'm allowed to throw things anymore.
In this episode we discuss and examine some interesting game console controllers from the history books, we delve into a poignant listener question about the fate and possible future of Mega Man Legends 3 and we get some great hands-on time with the Sifteo modular portable game console ... block, thingy. It's really cool.
This episode also features a VERY special closing segment where we discuss a major gripe that we all have with Batman Arkham City. I PROMISE this segment is worth the price of admission, especially for those who like Batman or have alternately ever wanted to punch us in the face/hit us with things.
So stay tuned till the end, where we ask the question ... is this the END of the Digital Press Podcast crew? Tune in next week to find out!

In a stunning display of post-production speed the fifth episode of the Digital Press Podcast has arrived earlier than expected!
In this episode we discuss: THE Nintendo Entertainment System ... and NOTHING ELSE.
That's right, an entire episode dedicated to our personal memories, recollections, experiences and only slightly misrepresented historical events related to Nintendo's first, fondly remembered and in some cases finest system!

Still a bit of work to do on the audio mixing side (when someone laughs, the sound gets distorted), but you guys made a lot of improvements already.NES memories power!

Yeah, we do our best to give each person a good baseline audio level on their independent microphone, but we don't have a board-op running as we record ... so, when we spike the audio (and once conversations get going our voices tend to raise) nobody's there to adjust it.
That aside, thanks for watching and for the feedback!!
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
I've really been enjoying these podcasts, but this one especially. My parents were not keen on the idea of buying me video game systems when I was growing up. They finally broke down and bought me a Genesis for Christmas when it came out. But I remember wanting an NES so much and having to play at my friend's houses. And all my friends had one. However, I remember going with one of my friends and his mom to Toys R' Us to buy one when they came out. This brought up a lot of fond memories for me.
Thanks again.
Thanks so much!
We know that there have been a lot of really great, comprehensive books, shows and podcasts about the history of Nintendo ... and while we could have probably done an hour or so of recounting the history of the industry we felt that it would be a much more entertaining time (both for us and for listeners) to talk about our personal recollections and feelings about being "NES enthusiasts" in the past as well as the present generation.
Now that we're in a groove we're going to do our best to keep it fun and interesting!
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
I've finally had a chance to watch this podcast, and I must say it's one of the best yet, purely based on the personal memories of the panelists. I always get a blast out of hearing people talk about our common "baby".
I'm highly anticipating the next installment! Will it be another theme episode like this, and will we see the return of "Tales from the Store" (A Personal favorite of mine)? If you do have a plan to do more theme episodes, can I make a suggestion? Do one on games magazines!
Denmark: Home of The Little Mermaid and heavy sarcasm.
We decided to render the video at 1,000,000P instead of 1080P so, we get about a frame a week oputput. Should be up in a couple of years, just in time for monitors with compatible screen resolution.
...I keed.
It's a nutty episode though. If you like your podcasts with a heaping helping of chaos, it'll be a good listen when it's up.
I'll poke Mike and see where we're at.
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
So, episode 6 is, like, coming.. soonish? Man, being away from you guys for a couple of months requires a lot of catching up upon returning here
Is episode 6 the phone-in episode? I would've loved to phone in and yell Danish obscenities at you guysBut, seriously, I imagine doing the podcast takes a lot of work and time, so if there's anything I/we can do to help, let us know. I'd love to "do my part" if I can make things easier for you guys.
Denmark: Home of The Little Mermaid and heavy sarcasm.
Yes. Soon.
The call-in line is pretty much live every week since we film at the store and it's just the store phone.
We've gotten a few ... *ahem* amusing calls so far ...
I PROMISE that if we actually get any serious calls we will be happy to take them!
Maybe we'll set up a Skype-in on the next episode if that's easier for folks.
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
In this chaotic episode we discuss our favorite video game rumors:
- Polybius
- E.T. cartridges buried in the desert
- PS3 Slim
- Wappy Dog
- XBOX360 2 not being able to play used games
- Wappy Dog
- Wappy Dog
and many others.
We can't promise that this one has any great semblance of structure, but it's a pretty fun watch/listen.

"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
Some interesting stuff. Particularly the segment about the current rumor about Microsoft and used games.
I for one don't believe they're going to implement this suddenly. People in large aren't very bright, and are very apathetic. It's like boiling a frog. If you toss it in boiling water it will jump right out. If you put it in cold water and slowly bring it up to a boil the frog will just sit in there and boil to death. It's not a rumor from a larger standpoint, it's only a rumor from an immediate standpoint. They're on their way to doing it. It's not just games either. It's the entire media segment. Digital distribution is just the start of this. Slowly over time it will develop into the leasing model. As I've stated in many other threads, it will mean the end of me buying new games. I will not pay to borrow my games. That's what we have rental services for. This is happening, just slowly enough that people won't put up too much a fight until they're rights are gone.
Oh, and that video needed a lot LESS Wappy Dog.
Can't wait to see the next one.
