I've been buying comic book reprint books a lot lately (I don't really buy regular comics anymore) and have been concentrating this month on getting books of stories from the Golden Age (the 1940's). These books are from the hardbound series known as DC Comics Archives and Marvel Masterworks. For Marvel, I am mostly interested in The Human Torch so I've gotten 3 volumes of his comic title (all that's out so far), and am also starting to get Marvel Mystery Comics (the title he debuted in) and All-Winners Comics (Marvel's all-star anthology that also included Sub-Mariner, Captain America and others). I also just got the first volume of Captain America Comics though I doubt I'll get any of the Sub-Mariner comic as I was never a great fan of his. At DC, I've recently gotten volumes of the Golden Age versions of Hawkman and The Flash as well as early Superman and Batman volumes. I will probably concentrate for the forseeable future on more Golden Age volumes with the one possible exception of Fantastic Four. I would like to get all of Jack Kirby's stories of that title which began in 1961...Jack left the title finally after issue #102, sometime in the early 70's.
