Default craigslist find (and powerglove questions)

so i picked up a powerglove today for 30 bucks off a craigslist person, he threw in a zapper i didnt really want cos i already have one and a ps1 rf connection, but the pwerglove is fine and works (well as well as a powerglove could) and i also had a quick question, the glove itself makes this humming noise is that normal? and last question, in the avgn episode he said he found a list of codes for differet games, ive tried searching and have yet to come up with a definitive list of codes, only scans from the manual which has "reccomendations" is there actually a full list out there that im missing?

The humming noise is the vast amount of energy pulsating through the glove.......and your soul!

What is this AVGN episode of which you speak? It tickles me to think that people are picking up 25-year-old hardware because the AVGN drops a reference to it. These "codes" he mentioned..."codes" can have so many meanings when it comes to NES games: save game codes, "cheat" codes, Game Genie codes...

AFAIK, there is no "definitive list". The Power Glove was not designed with particular games in mind (though Super Glove Ball and Bad Street Brawler were designed for it).

The list of codes are merely suggestions for game types, so match up styles/genres to what they offer.

I find the same thing true with the Uforce... i looked up the manual and used all the codes it said were "best" for whatever game, but i came to find the more i played with it that those codes were suggestions and the best code to use for whatever game was the code that i felt best suited the game.

Yes...but in the context of a Power Glove, the word "codes" has an unequivocal meaning. The keypad on it is for entering these codes which put it into a specific control mode to better suit different games.

I can't speak for the codes but I do believe the humming to be normal as the unit works off of sound frequency IIRC. Did you get the reciever for it as well?

True, but they use ultrasonic which we can't hear. Maybe Jack7 is like Superman and dogs and can hear ultrasonic.

Even though the Power Glove operates at 40 kHz, it is perhaps possible that something within the glove is vibrating at a lower harmony and is thus audible; kind of like how one of my cathode rays can sometimes squeal even though the vertical scan rate is well above the range of human hearing.

Hm, I only used it a couple times, but I didn't notice a hum with my power glove. I'll have to hook it up and see if it makes any sound.
