I agree. It'd be nice to be able to plug my 2 GB USB memory stick into the one of the ports in the back of the Wii and use that as storage. It couldn't get any simpler than that.

EDIT: By the way, has anyone tried Defend Your Castle yet? It looks like fun, but I'm waiting for some opinions.

Rumors have been flying the last few weeks at some sites and media outlets like G4 that a storage solution is on the way in the near future, so hopefully its resolved soon.

Today, I dusted off the ol' Wii, and got Defend Your Castle.

This is one seriously demented game. The art design is hilarious.

Not to mention, It was the only game I had the points for....

I've only got 4 VC games, hence why I've got a decent amount of space left... at least I can sacrifice them if need be to free more room (and redownload later).

Like I wrote in my previous post, the solution could be something as simple as allowing me to use my 2 GB USB memory stick. All I'd have to do is plug it in the back of the Wii and leave it there. No hard drive cables or AC adapters to mess with.

Is it just me, or do a lot of these games seem like cheapie flash titles that one would find on Newgrounds or ebaumsworld? With no free trials (that I've heard of), I can't see myself buying too many of those. The lack of storage space is troubling, too. Not really even a knock on Xbox 360's Live Arcade, but maybe it'll change.

If I remember correctly, though, wasn't Defend Your Castle a flash game? My god, that game was the shit. I might have to buy that for Wii -- probably the only one for awhile.

Yes, but I'm willing to bet it won't be that simple. Nintendo could've let us do that or use SD cards from the start. If they were willing to do that, it would've been enabled on day 1 I suspect.

I'm betting on having to buy a Nintendo product to accomplish the task, rather than a free firmware update that allows us to do it with existing hardware like USB flash drives or SD cards.

Suposedly, SD cards are too slow to be used as active storage. Is that true?

Maybe not. Nintendo went with standard SD cards and standard USB ports instead of proprietary memory cards and proprietary ports.

Then again, it's Nintendo we're talking about, so you might be right. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm thinking Nintendo will make a proprietary external usb flashdrive. Kid/Idiot-abuse friendly and solid state. Proprietary 'cause... (meme time) It will print monies!

Star Soldier R will be my first purchase. Unless Tetris gets released first.

I downloaded Defend Your Castle last night. It's simple and fun...and cheap! It starts off pretty slowly, but picks up after about a dozen levels. The graphics, presentation, and sound are very silly. At 500 points ($5), I recommend it to anyone who wants a simple, silly game. If it were more than $5 though, it'd be a rip-off.

I am going to download Lost Winds in a little while.

Has anyone tried Pop yet? If so, any thoughts?

Nintendo of America nolonger allows Wiiware games and vc games leaked 2 or 3 days early.

Jsnake and a leaker from gamefaqs nolonger has the early press releases. The chances vc-reviews can't get the games 2 or 3 days early either.

Nintendo's pr people were threaten to be fired if anyone gets the press releases early.

That means no one will know the games before Monday. It was fun when it lasted.

That's a shame. As others have noted earlier in the thread, it was good to have an early heads up and I'm sure it played a role in many of the first-day sales. Oh well.

I totally agree I thought this game was super boring! Yet I would love to see a sequel which seems to be coming. Its a great demo but I wouldn't call it a must own wiiWare title. I would call it a great idea for a game which i'm sure the second installment will be. This is a launch after all and so far it seems like a launch of ideas that can be done on the wiiWare platform

I disagree. I was skeptical about Lost Winds at first, but it turned out to be really good, especially for $10. I really like the art direction, music, and wind control scheme.

I wonder if Nintendo realizes that threads like this actually HELP their 1st day sales in the case of me buying VC games ... as more often than not I'm too busy to log into the Wii Shop and check, and their official emails usually are a week outdated with new releases.

Companies like Nintendo often know one thing, jack-shit...

What's the big deal of the 2 day early press release? Really...these are VC titles that have been on the market for years, it's not big news that a game like Earthbound exists...it's big news it's coming to the VC. Let people wet their appetite early...like most have stated, it will help with the Monday sales.

Some (like me) don't like going through the trouble of looking on the actual console, I liked coming here and reading about it.

    Take a hike, wang-broom!
I swear I can smell your stinky hands from here!

Here is info on Save the seasons with Potpourrii:

In Potpourrii™ you’ll be helping out the leprechauns by taking control of a spirit cannon. The Potpourrii™ is actually a mixture of spirit elementals floating in a pool of water within a tree stump. There are four elemental flavors and each one corresponds to a season. There are four sides of the screen corresponding to seasons just like the spirits and for each side there is one leprechaun handling season bound spirits. The gameplay basically involves a wizard conjuring spirits at random. The spirits are then spawned near the corresponding leprechauns. Using the A button you’ll signal the closest leprechaun to throw the spirit he is holding towards the cannon. You then turn the cannon around the Potpourrii™ towards a position of choice and by pressing the A button again while holding a spirit it will be released. By holding the A button instead of tapping you’ll be able to aim the crosshair while holding the cannon in place. This way you’ll be able to reach certain parts of the Potpourrii™ otherwise uncovered. Mind that the Potpourrii™ is rotating all the while and gaining velocity as you are making progress.

Progress is actually made by popping spirits on the Potpourrii™ and releasing them towards a hole in the big magical oak which will ultimately provide life essences in order to cure the tree. When you reach a certain par count you’ll be taken into the next current season and after 4 seasons a year will have passed and the tree will get a little more healthy. After 4 years the tree will be fully cured and the wizard will leave the scene to come back later and the whole cycle starts again, but of course this time the spawnrate as well as the rotation speed will both be much larger as those values will increase every year.

While shooting spirits towards the Potpourrii™ two things can happen. If the projectile spirit has no relationship with the spirit it hits on the Potpourrii™ it will just stick. On the other hand if the spirit you shoot is the seasonal successor to the spirit it collides with the colliding spirit on the Potpourrii™ will pop, together with all identical spirits directly linked. Making larger chains gets you higher scores and quicker progression as the accumulated score follows a 1 + 2 + 3 + .. pattern, instead of individually 1 + 1 + 1 + .. So the pop mechanic follows a rock-paper-scissors pattern basically, which maps intuitively to seasonal time cycles.

The source is http://www.wiiware-world.com/news/20...ith_potpourrii . The source has link for screenshots inside.

Luc Bernard reveals he has another wiiware game in the works. The game is called Rose Princess.

The plot appears to be about is a cello player who kills anything she touches. She is befriended by a mechanical rabbit named Mr Cuddles who has a penchant for cross-dressing, prostitution, alcohol-dependency and drug-addiction.

Luc said " the gameplay is inspired by Castlevania and sports a ‘Victorian Disney style’ with 8 open-ended worlds."

Well, you can still come here and read about it, it'll just be on Mondays instead. We're not going to stop talking about VC releases because we're not getting the names a couple of days early. And pretty much every videogame website on the internet will have a story reporting on what the games are.

Frankly, I'm surprised it took Nintendo this long. It had gone on to the point where I just assumed they didn't care, which seems rather unlike them. Oh well, something to look forward to on Monday mornings.

I know there will be at least 2 Wiiware games for Monday. The two games games are:
Star Soldier R- 800 Wii points
Critter Round up - 1,000 wii points.

    The source is http://www.wiiware-world.com/news/20...lling_a_sickie

Konami confirmed the two game date from their Konami event. The source from that is http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/05/...eeks-wiiw.html

I have some good news. It appears like he return of pictures being added in advance. The pictures show 2 Wiiware games and 1 vc game.

The vc game is Sky Kid. It is for the nes and I am pretty sure it for 500 wii points.

    I saw the pictures on http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthre...29709&page=436 .

The pictures being added in advance has the same wiiware and vc games is correct. The games were confirmed by http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=15215 .

Hopefully the advanced pictures well be up every week.

Star Soldier R!!! I'm all over that.

Skykid is great to those that haven't played it. I've got the NES cart and the Arcade version in a Namco comp for PS2, but it's worth getting. Good for 2 people as well.
