    Default New Commodore computers

Now this is interesting, technically this may belong in the modern gaming though I'll let you see what I mean that in a way it's classical also:

    WOW.

    WOW!

Here's hoping the emulation is rock solid. (I assume it's sporting whatever PC Commodore emulator is the gold standard ... FRODO perhaps?)

It would be a crying shame if something with specs like that that has sub-par emulation.

Man, it would have been awesome if it had a cart slot! Even if it was via emulation, having a cart slot to use existing games would have rocked hard.

Why exactly would anyone buy this? You can get a real C64 set-up for next to nothing and this is just a PC with the same emulator that can be dowloaded for free all over the place.

Did you read the page? It does emulation, yes, but it's also a fully functional PC with decent specs.
The biggest advantage is that it has the old C64 form-factor and styling. It's a nostalgia trip in hardware as WELL as software, but it's a lot more functional than having a dusty old original machine.
It's a novelty machine, but it's still damn cool.

Those aren't pictures. They're computer renders.

    Smells like vaporware to me.

I think it's neat, but I wish they had licensed that C64 on a chip and integrated it into this device somehow instead of relying on emulation.

It would've been even cooler if there was an actual C64 inside of it for playing C64 software (I'm not suggesting it not still be a modern PC).

If it's able to be easily expanded with things like a new graphics card and such just like with a regular PC case, I'll like it even more.

That Commodore concept has been around for awhile now. They have prototype pictures here.

From what I know about the compatibility of the C64 on a chip (it's not 100% compatible with all disk and cart images) I think I'd rather have an emulator that can be patched with fixes and updates.

    I bet it's not even 64-bit.
    And no, it's not fake.

I've seen pictures on amiga.org of the injection molded prototype. It's quite real.

I did read the page. Still don't believe there is a demand for this. It lacks expandability as a PC and it contains no Commodore hardware. It's not really any different than all those Amiga and Commodore branded gaming PC cases. If you want nostalgia, buy a real Commodore 64. They're cheap and take very little space.

    Really interesting.
We'll see if these come to fruition.
Would be cool just to have a keyboard, USB support to download emulators/games, 9-pin DIN for joystick support, S-video output (atleast composite (?)), a built-in hard drive, built in CD, and a cool running power supply.

I'd buy it just for that much.

That's not even an original product. C=USA just bought them from some chinese company and slapped a new sticker on it. I believe it's from CyberNet's ZPC line, but I'm not certain.

    Default New Commodore computers

I'd love to have one of C-64's just for the nostalgia. Got a ton of boxes of C64 stuff I got from my dad I'd love to use. Anyone know any prices yet?

So it's a laptop without a screen and it has a bigger keyboard. Why not just get a laptop?
