Why not share the fancy new press release type-thingie?

    NECG Trademeet/World Premiere - July 19th

It's been too long, and it's time for another trademeet! Make plans to join us on Saturday the 19th. This is going to be an extra special trademeet because it's also the premiere of our first exclusive 2600 release. This game will be available only through NECG and in very limited quantities. If you want to make sure you get one, then you'll have to be there. Otherwise, there may be a handful left in the aftermath. We're very excited about this project and hope you will be too. If all goes well, this could be the start of a new tradition.

As always, there will be games and consoles galore - both to play and to trade. From classic to next generation, long time member or first time guest, we want you to join us. I'd like to tell you that we're having a cook-out (we may yet), but all bets are off with the crazy weather we've had this summer. The meet will take place at Christian's place in Jamaica Plain, MA. That's 19 Anson Street, Jamaica Plain MA 02130 if you need to Mapquest it. More good news - we're extending the hours of
the meet, so no more kicking everybody out at 9:30. This time, we're going from 4:30 PM till the last gamer standing. Attempts to drink your hosts under the table are doomed to fail but feel free to try.

Bring games, snacks, treasures to show off, digital cameras (though I am not to be outdone), tasty beverages - but most importantly, bring yourself!

    See you there!

And in case you're wondering about the game release, just watch for vague clues during the next two weeks that should reveal its identity. Some of you already know anyway, which makes this no fun for you :P

    Meet mister Grid Bug.

He's happy to hear about this event!

Unfortunately the timing is bad for me (and whatever NJ chapter of NECG might have been in attendance). That's going to be the date of NJ Classic XXVIX here at DP HQ.

But mister Grid Bug will help you promote your gathering! Don't forget to take pictures (and send us a game)

grrrr... 700 miles is a little far for me to drive for an evening of game playing/trading. I look forward to the pics though!

I'm really thinking about going. Thanks for the answer to my PM also. It's late enough in the day so I can sleep after I get home from work at 7 AM. And it's only a hour away for me. Problem is, I would'nt have the foggiest notion how one of these generally work, never been to one before. Nor what I know what to bring for games.

Is there any kind of buying/selling/trading going to happen? Any idea on the price for the 2600 homebrew? And just how many people normaly COME to one of these, anyway?

You would have to pick the one day in July that I have prior engagements.

our website should answer most of your questions, dig around a bit. we've got a section that covers how the trades work and such. i understand it does seem a bit odd showing up at a strangers house with a box of old video games in your hand but you'll fit right in. its a bit like this board, a reasonably diverse group of geeks talking about videogames from all eras, only its live and in person and you can get some really cool games. our last meet drew 30 people over the course of 6 hours, i dont know if we'll have that big a crowd this time but it should be around 20 or so. we draw guests from here, atariage and RGVC so you'll meet some folks you already know from here as well as a few who have probably been beating you to the big finds

so mr.digital press you're having a meet that day? i have also heard that the quebec group is getting together that day...what is this?some sort of planetary lineup?

@ SoulBlazer - No thinking. Just be there! It's hard to explain exactly how these "work", since there's no real format. Basically, just show up in good spirits, ready to play and converse, thirsty, and with any games you want people to see or you'd wish to trade/sell/smash into bits on the sidewalk. If you don't have much trade stuff, then don't worry about it. Some people have brought prototypes to trade while others have packed along common NES carts. In direct answer to "Is there any kind of buying/selling/trading going to happen?", I say YES. There's always something for everybody. There are no requirements, just as long as you have a good time.

Normally, we get about 20-25 people at our meets, but usually no more than 15 at any given time. Folks come and go during the course of the afternoon/evening, and that's fine by us.

Regarding the 2600 release, we haven't come up with a solid price yet (at least not yet), mainly because we'd like to approach getting it out there a little differently. Essentially, after everyone who's fronted actual cash for this project has recouped costs through selling a few carts, we're going to try to limit the distribution to trade-only. It's kind of our way of promoting the roots of the hobby - playing and trading. If we wanted to make oodles of cash on this one, I think we probably could. But we don't. It's going to be fun and (hopefully) exciting.

@ Scoots - Sorry man. Even one of our own - a guy who had a large share in getting our 2600 release together - won't be able to make it that day. Unfortunately, we just need to get this going *now*.

You can just do what I do. I bring stuff for trade (usually nothing good is in my pile). Therefore, I stand around drinking while talking with others and playing games.

    Todd drinking? I doubt it....

    http://www.gis.net/~bertulli/feb12.jpg

Now, that sketchy looking character in the background there may be the posterboy for NECG drinking - especially considering the evidence in his left hand - but I know *Todd* would never be caught involved in that wretched behavior. Man, look at that guy...

Will there be "booth babes" this year? Also - is the furniture still arranged in the same pattern? (so i can plot my strategy). Finally -is it cool to come dressed as Poken?

ps - I'm only coming if "Property of H" is gonna be there!!!

see you guys in a couple weeks.

"property of h" is on the guest list! i think he'd make a good booth babe, he's got the chest for it...theres actually a new larger game room to check out. no idea what i'm going to do with the tables this time, we have a huge couch in that room now. weather permitting it might be nice to have them outside.

    see ya there!

Well, I think I am going to check it out. Rhode Island is such a small state, I'd be willing to carpool -- especily if you guys plan to drink as much as you are talking about. I think if I was driving it would make sure I don't get a sudden last change of heart. PM me if interested.

If there's nice weather scheduled, expect to see me there. Anxiety issues may pose problems if the weather is bad though. Is Jamaca Plain hard to drive through, my only Boston experience is the Back Bay.

jamaica plain is much less "urban" than the back bay, you wont face that sort of heavy traffic here. its more suburban and fairly easy to find off the major roads. we're also located about a block away from forest hills which is major subway, bus and commuter rail station for those thinking of using public transportation..

Still out West for a couple more months, but I'll catch the next meet (in the fall?). At least my collection will be spared the wrath of "Property of H" and poor ClubNinja will be spared from a savage Warlords beating.

Woohoo! hard to choose between this and NJ Classic, but I've not seen the NECG crew since the last Feb, so I'll try my damndest to make it out there. Is anyone from the NY/NJ area going? If you can furnish me with a lift to Christian's house, I'll furnish gas and beer money. Hope to see everyone there!
