I am thinking about buying a master system converter.
Does anyone know if it is compatable with all 3 genesis versions?
I suspect it in not with the 3rd but is with 1 and 2
Any info would be appreciated.

Yes, it's made specifically for Model 1 systems, but can be compatible with Genny 2 systems if you basically saw off the fat tab of plastic that drapes down on the back.
Due to different placement of system wiring on the model 2, that tab covers the RF/AV and AC ports, meaning that you can't plug the system in if the converter is on top, and vice-versa.
However, I have done this myself (sawing the tab off by hand was a bit of a pain, but if you have access to a tablesaw of some sort it'd probably be loads easier/smoother. Just BE CAREFUL!)
The end result of my endeavor is now I have a Power Base Converter that can be used on Model 2 systems, although my particular model still isn't as perfect (or fits as snug) as I'd have liked because I used a hand saw.
There's a blog posting online that details this process, but I can't post the link at the moment.
Hope this helped!
It's not compatible with the Genesis 3:

I seem to recall when I owned one that the manual mentioned that fact. The Genesis 3 is built differently than the other two.
I modded my Genesis 3 to be compatible with the 32X system and Master System converter..And, I currently have the Official Sega rare Euro Master System converter II for trade at the "Buying & Selling" forum if interested:

You can also take the shell apart and mount the innards in a project box. All you need is a small project box (one that is all plastic - unless you have the ability to cut sheet metal cleanly), a screwdriver, some spacers and an exacto knife. I did this about ten years ago for a cost of about $10 - I suspect the cost may be a bit more now but I can't imagine it would be that much more.
When I come home from a long day in Hell, there's nothing I'd rather reach for than a fire-brewed bottle of Styx Beer. Made from the filthiest waters from our own River Styx. Styx Beer is a third more toxic than any other regular beer. The worst beer - the filthiest beer - the deadliest beer. It's Styx Beer!
Thank you everyone for the imput
Or you can buy one of these converters and not cut anything up...
They should have just made the Genesis carts the same fit as Master System's carts. Have different labels to identify, but I guess that would mean Sega wouldnt make money selling Converters
