Default Were's the best place to preorder games ?

Hi guys. I don't usually preorder but I really want to get super mario galaxy 2 on its release day. I have heard gamestop never has enough copy to fill there orders. Has anyone tried amazon? I wander if It's guaranteed to ship on release day if i preorder or if its just a waiting list thing. thanks.

I don't know about everywhere else, but usually Gamestop has as many preorders as they get atleast. Bigger games like a first party Nintendo game you'd probably have no problem getting one whether you preordered or not.

Also. Amazon is good but you won't get it first day.

I've pre-ordered CD's on amazon, they were here the day that the CD's were released.

    Amazon. Here's why...

1.) Most games are below MSRP if you pre-order them early enough.
    2.) No tax.
    3.) All A-list titles get $10, $15, or $20 credit for pre-ordering (SMG2 gets a $20 credit).
4.) Free release day shipping (w/Prime).

I bought it for $49.99 - $15 (from pre-ordering Just Cause 2) = $34.99 (+ a $20 credit, no tax, and free release day shipping). Best deal possible.

Oh, yes. Definitely amazon. I like it when new games come to me. Plus, they don't take any money until you are for sure getting the damn thing, unlike many a preorder through GS & GC have gone down in the past. Electronics Boutique still has my $10 deposit for Policenauts...

    Amazon.

I settle for conventional shipping...I usually get the games by the Saturday of the week they are released...sometimesMonday or Tuesday of the following week. I try to chain together the discounts. I bought Dragon Age, used $10 from that to buy Bioshock 2, used $10 from that to buy Mass Effect 2, used $10 from that to buy God of War III, and will use $10 from that to but Super Mario Galaxy 2 - which gives me $20 for something else...

I should probably sign-up for prime...

Amazon. I've always gotten released first day and it's below normal retail by a little bit, free shipping too.

Locally, I pre-order from Best Buy. They always get tons of stock in and not many people pre-order from them anyways so there's no danger of having them give out my pre-order.

People seem to love Amazon, but I'll just add that plenty of shops are offering various in-game bonuses for pre-ordering new games. For example, gamestop has had a run of exclusive weapons/armors in recent games (i.e. Mass Effect 2)

And Amazon often does too. You just have to look on that games order page.

I normally do Amazon because its tax free and I get the stuff with 2-3 days, even with Saver shipping. I've gotten stuff on launch day as well for some items. If I really want the game there sooner, I can get faster shipping, which comes close to the savings i'm making thanks to no tax and the slightly discounted price they are offering in the first place, but only do that for certain titles.

I also prefer Amazon over GS for most pre-orders because I get my pre-order trinkets. I can't guarantee that my Harvest Moon plushie will be there when I show up in stores, so I stick to online (GS online is good with getting me those goodies, but they charge tax so I tend to go Amazon to save that bit more).
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Amazon is great, but expect your shipping to arrive 2-5 days late. Gamestop online website allows you to preorder and it arrives the day the when it suppose to release. If you going for saving, go with Amazon.

No major name game company, I used to preorder games for the little toys that came with em, but since game crazy and gamestop are corrupted beyond belief the employees take the toys before the games are released. Oh and if you preorder from them theres a good chance they still won't have it.

Amazon isn't always tax free. It depends on where you live. Obviously there's tax for Washington state since that's where their headquarters are located, but they're also jerks that take advantage of legal loopholes wherever they can. They charge tax in New York even though they're not located here at all. Our state has been trying to take it to the Supreme Court for years to rule it as an illegal practice, but so far no luck.

I really like Amazon in general (partially because I'm a native Washingtonian myself), but their taxing practices is one aspect that has my disapproval.

It's not like Amazon WANTS to tax you in New York. It's because the state government forced them to.

Actually, yeah, now that I think about it, that makes sense. Either way, Amazon should be doing more about it rather than sitting on their hands. It makes no sense that I should have to pay tax to Amazon when if I buy from any other out-of-state business, I don't have to. Something is fishy about the scenario.

Looking it up, besides New York and Washington, Kansas, Kentucky, and North Dakota also pay tax on Amazon, though that's because they have subsidiaries there. Although at least in those cases they're among the less populated states. I'm sure the number of orders coming from those states is significantly smaller than from the 20 million people in NY who shouldn't be taxed on Amazon at all.

I don't think you'll have to pre order it, but if don't wanna take any chances, I would just put $5 down on a copy at Gamestop, as much as I hate them.

Amazon no fuss no must at least i find them to be hassle free.Sure you won't get the game on it's day of the release but amazon is good for that, free shipping and paying a little less compare to a retail price of the game. The only time i'd recomend gamestop to any one if it's a last resort being....if there only one that carrys that game that you are looking for.
