Spider-man is pink in vc version of Revenge of Shinobi

This info was found out after Revenge of Shinobi was released on the Vc in Europe on August 7, 2009.

The change was made because of the Copyright right issues with some of the boss characters in the game including Spider-man.

They made Spiderman pink and changed batman? Blahh... forget it.

I will never forget seeing spidey and batman. What a special treat oh don't forget the terminator. When I first play against them I thought it was a tribute to them. I mean why would spidey and batman be in shinobi.

Godzilla was nice. The only thing I didn't like was the last boss it was weak.

Two further versions of the game were released in subsequent months to avoid any nasty copyright issues, but Spider-Man remained intact as the level 6 boss as SEGA were able to officially license the famous Marvel superhero, with a credit even appearing on the title screen.

Holy shit...this got a VC release?

Revenge of Shinobi is one of the best games of all time. It's a rare combination of 2D platforming excellence, impressive graphics and a perfect soundtrack. If they have to change a few enemies in order for it to be released over here, fine. Everyone needs to play through the game at least once.

I still have my original Genesis cart, so I probably won't be buying it...but anyone who hasn't played it NEEDS to. Hopefully the US will be getting it soon.

One of my favorite games of all time. It's full of fun little copyright infringements. Even the title screen is digitized from the Sonny Chiba show "Shadow Warriors".

I wonder how much the original unedited Revenge of Shinobi goes for. Furthermore, I want to track down a copy to play.

This was my favorite Shinobi title and has soley been missed.

Not having it on the Sega Genesis Collection, but having Shadow Dancer was a major disappointment.

All I can say is it's about damn time, such a classic!

The arcade version of Shinobi on the recent Ultimate Genesis Collection has the arcade ROM edited so that the Spiderman character is a different color. Yellow and blue if I'm not mistaken.

I am not aware of any revision of the arcade board that has this change, so apparently they made it specifically for this emulated compilation.
