Today, I opened my NES for the first time, to give it a little cleaning and rebending the pins (it's a pain to find new connectors 'round here). After I finished (and hadvin to reopen the damn thing it again because I misplaced the cart's "cradle" - typical n00b mistake, I guess), I happily went to test it...and notice it won't turn on right.
It's like the the NES is not getting enough voltage from the ac adapter, I guess; the red led is really weak, and the TV won't even respond to the action of turning on the device. I'm quite sure I haven't fucked up the ac connector, I didn't even touch that part. I also knwo I haven't cut any cabels or messed with any soldering points. What do you guys and gals think it could be?
It's important to notice that my NES doesn't use the original adapter, but actually a 12v one (never had an issue with that, and I guess i read here somewhere that the NES is kinda lenient with voltage). I also run it through a converter, since the adapter is 110v and the tension in my city is 220v.
Thanks in advance, people. As a bonus, here are some pics of a brazilian, Playtronic-made NES. It lacks the RF shielding, and has an extra board! AFAIK, it's there to convert the signal form NTSC to PAL-M. I took them when that push down thingie was already off.
Where's the RF shield?!?
The extra board!
