Default Transfer XBox 360 hard disk to another XBox ?

I want to take my 20gb hard disk from my old XBox to put it on my new XBox console. It works, I tried it. But if I want to buy some games on XBox Live with my old XBox, will they work on the new one, because the games are already installed on the hard disk ? I will be connecting with the same account. All I've found on internet was about transferring hard disk content to a new disk.

As long as you're signed into xbox live, any content you purchase under your account will be accessable from any console you're logged into.

You mean that to play the game I must be connected to XBox Live over the internet ? And if my internet connection is not available ?

Then you'll need to use the transfer service on microsoft's website to transfer the content to your new xbox. Be careful though, because you can only do this once every 12 months.

To clarify what ProgrammingAce said some more:
    - Content is available to all users on a console, whether online or offline, on the original console and hard drive that it was downloaded on.
    - Content is available to all users on a console, on the original hard drive and separate console, if the original profile that purchased the content is signed in AND connected to Xbox Live.
    - Content is NOT available in any other cases.

In order to circumvent the 2nd issue (same hard drive, separate console), then the DRM must be transferred to the new console via xbox.com. This can only be done every 12 months.

The transfer wizard has nothing to do with the rights of your XBLA titles. Those are bonded to the system that purchased them, NOT the hard drive. Data transfer from one HDD to another does not move the rights to the games, if the system is different from initial purchase.

Remember with a HDD transfer, you can only go equal or up. A 20 to a 20, an 20 to 60 or 120, but once you've gone up, you can't go back down.

that's sega's fault, they seem to be unwilling to release a patch to fix it. There's a work around though

Yes, as ProgrammingAce said that is Sega being lazy and not fixing it. I actually contacted Foundation 9 about this issue a while ago (they did all the Sega XBLA) and their response was that Microsoft AND Sega had to approve a patch, and that they were aware of the bug. But that MS had not approved it.

I also ran into the same thing with Triggerheart. You basically have to re-download the full game while you are in the game, and then it will change from a demo to a full game for you - only for that gaming session.

Braid AND Vigilante 8 also had similar problems. Those would be nice to have fixed (well Braid would, V8 doesn't matter to me).

Ticket to Ride is odd too.

I have to redownload it every time I want to play it.

Here's my followup question - what about if I buy a new HD?

I recently had my Xbox replaced, and went through the whole transfer process. If I wanted to go out and replace my 20GB drive with a 120GB, will I be able to? Or will the fact that I've transferred content recently mean that I'll have to be connected to live in order to play stuff on my new HD?

As long as its still on the same console it will not matter.

That's what I assumed/hoped, but I don't want to spend the money without *knowing*

    Cheers!
