Default Model 1 Genesis reset button wont work.

The Reset button on my Model 1 Genesis wont work, any suggestions?
<skaar> Sega is like Marilyn Monroe would be if she was still alive but at one point went completely bankrupt and started making skin flicks.

Open up the Genesis and try pressing on the actual button itself. If the button works when you do that, then the cosmetic button cover thing isn't pushing the actual button down far enough. Just wad some tape in there to fix that.

However, it's probably just dirty contacts. Spray some contact cleaner into the switch, push the button a few times, then let it dry.

If that doesn't work, then it may be that the solder joints are broken. Check the solder joints by heating both up with a soldering iron to re-solder them.

If that doesn't work, then the traces connected to the switch for continuity. If any are broken, solder in wires to fix them. Also, re-solder all the components connected to those traces.

If that doesn't work, then the button is probably broken. Solder in a replacement pushbutton.

If that doesn't work, then you're screwed.
