    Default NES Case Modification, legal?

So I have been hacking up some Power Play Super Joy 3 controllers and repurposing the guts to make NES systems that are packaged in unique ways, for example I am working on builidng one into a router housing for a company I work for, also have plans on building one into a game cartridge... I think you get the idea. The question is, is selling these after they are tricked out illegal? Selling source would be either an online store or Ebay. Let me know if any one has some insights into this. Thanks in advance!
