All of Wildwood's boardwalk arcades are all crummy redemption places that look like casinos, filled with slot machines, video poker, and the like.

I was gonna mention Wildwood. I remember growing up all the arcades on the boardwalk there had great GAMES: X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, Street Fighter, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the like. Over the past 3-5 years, it's slowly become skee-ball, Crane Machines and poker type stuff where you win TICKETS. The Boardwalk Mall on the Boardwalk DID manage to keep some great arcade games for a while. They even gave you 6 credits for 25 cents. About two years ago I went to the mall, and found the old 1990 Simpsons Arcade Game (where Maggie is kidnapped), put in a quarter, and had 6 lives to go through. Best time of my day down there.

Wish there were more arcades around. Looks unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Funspot in laconia actually has a old video poker machine where you win tickets from

also they have slot machines where you can win tickets from (since it is illegal to gamble in that form in the state of NH and not only that its a family entertainment center of course)

My girlfriend has family up near Funspot in NH, and every time we go up there to visit I beg her to go. She usually comes along and I split my time between playing air hockey and skee ball with her and going upsatirs to play the classic games. But it never seems like we're there long enough.

Off topic but there was one year where we didn't go to funspot and instead went to a movie theater that was like a diner and movie theater in one, and it was frikin' awesome. Anyway I said if we didn't go to funspot then I at least get to pick the movie.

I picked the Friday the 13th remake and she was a little angry I picked that one...just because it was Valentine's day.

If you're in that general area, there's actually a place called High Scores in Burlington, NJ (And it's actually not in a bad area). 348 High Street, ALL Classic games. Punch-Out, Tron, 4 Multicabs, 3 Mechanical pins, Star Wars, Mark of the Wolves, and a bunch of other AWESOME stuff in this place. Only open on the weekends though, and the hours are a little funky.

Interestingly, A bar in Denver Colorado just opened recently called The 1Up. The bar features over 30 classic arcade games. Original Ski Ball, several pinball machines and giant Jenga. It is right across the street from Coors Field. I have not checked it out yet but it is on my to do ASAP list!

From what I heard the games are only 25 sents to play and randomly games are put on free play. Also, Either Billy Mitchell or Steve Wiebe will be visiting in August.

I hope a bit of self-promotion is alright; I own Backstage Hobbies & Games (per the user name) in Ludington, Michigan. I've been open four years now and, after alot of attempts, have finally managed to get my hands on some arcade machines. I don't have a lot of space now, but in the next year I'm working on getting a much larger space.
Right now I have five machines active in my store and a retail kiosk X-Box console. Machines online are Mortal Kombat, Primal Rage, Battletoads, Time Soldiers, and I JUST got a hold of a Galaga cabinet. I'm really looking forward to getting my bigger space, I have a few units in storage that need TLC (Arkanoid, Battle Lane Vol 5, Intrepid, Final Fight, Double Dragon, a second Primal Rage, Crystal Castles) that would make for a really neat selection~

Heck when I went to Wildwood the arcades were great. Anyone know how the arcade(s) are at the renovated Coney Island?

If you're interested in arcades on Wildwood's Boardwalk this place just opened, though it's almost all mechanical games. But very impressive, as there's rarely an arcade with even one mechanical pin around these days.

Jilly's Arcade is also good, at least 15 pins and there's some classics like Galaga/Ms. Pac-Man, Jr. Pac-Man, Daytona USA, 4-Player X-Men, The Simpsons, and a Multicab amongst others.

One of my favorite boardwalk arcades though has to be Flipper McCoy's in Virginia Beach, VA. One of the best arcades I've been to, for sure. Tons of classic games including TMNT Turtles in Time, Sunset Riders, UMK3, X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, House of the Dead 2, Bloxeed, and 6-7 Pinball machines at least, including Creature from the Black Lagoon!

finally made it to Funspot this week.. what an incredible place.. I will definitely go back at some point.. no way I could touch the surface of all those games, many of which I was never able to play before. Just wish it was closer

I'm planning a little getaway to Illinois to see what the Galloping Ghost Arcade is all about... $15, free play, no waiting (aside from waiting to play a game).

I can't think of another arcade in the tristate area that has even a quarter of the machines that GG's has.

I see two places in NJ that haven't been mentioned.. For Classic games
there's an "Arcade Museum" called HIgh Scores in Burlington. Pretty much all the classics are there either as dedicated cabs or multicades. Al lgames are only a quarter or fifty cents. It's only open Friday and Saturday but it's heaven. There's eight on the break in Dunellan, NJ which has a nice selection of pins, a few classics, a "Blue Elf" multicade and lots of fighting games and some rarities like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Let me plug in my own arcade. For anyone in Utah, I own The Game Grid Arcade at the Valley Fair Mall in WVC. We still have plans to expand at some point but for what space they let us occupy, we've made the most of it. Links:

I remember back in the 90s when I was a kid there was a place called Tilt in Northgate mall. It had three whole walls of arcades crammed next to each other. I wish I could go back in time. That place moved out a long time ago.

The only arcade places I know of anymore are Dave and Buster's, and a place called Gameworks down in Newport, Kentucky. I haven't been there but I'll have to check it out sometime. Then they have the small arcade racers in the movie theaters, but those aren't anything at all.

I wish there were some retro arcades with all classic gaming somewhere around the Cincinnati area.

There used to be a Gameworks in Great Lakers Crossing (2nd largest mall in Michigan), but they shut down. It was a card-based arcade rather than coin-based and had a lot of the classics.

Yesterday was the grand opening of Yestercades, in Red Bank, NJ. I didn't attend, but I may go tonight actually. Essentially, it's a large collection of classic arcade games and consoles all set on unlimited play for 8.75$ an hour or 25$ all day.

Also Barcade in Philadelphia opened up a couple weeks ago, and I went there last Wednesday. They also have locations in Brooklyn and Jersey City. Amazing beer selection and classic arcade games... I found it quite awesome.

I wouldn't day arcades aren't anywhere anymore, they just seem to be popping up and catering to a clearly adult crowd.
