Wii Issues with Link's Crossbow Training?

I picked up a used copy of Link's Crossbow training at Gamestop. Everytime I try to play it I get a disc read error. All my other GC and Wii games work fine. The disc looks ok but light scratches and scuffs all over.

Any known issues with this game? I know Smash Bros. and Mario Kart had some trouble with dual layer discs. I don't see why this would be a dual layer disc. My Wii is only a couple of days old so I don't think that it could be a dirty laser eye that Nintendo says causes the disc error with dual layer discs.

or did I just get a bad disc from gamestop that I should return for my $5?

I'd just exchange it for another copy and try it again.
