Default Onechanbara *finally* coming to America UPDATE: 360 too!!

    It is about damn time:

I am so stupid happy for this finally happening. This is the kind of release that is very much "vote with your dollar", so if you give a crap about non-mainstream titles getting American release, you should buy this. At full price.

looks interesting, but I'm not sure if its my kinda game to be dropping $50 on right away. Although I do want more non-mainstream games to come out in the states though because its those kind of games that turn into being something fun and original....which a lot of mainstream games aren't always (with many acceptions).

So this is kind of like a low-res, last-gen Bulletwitch? I'm in for 3!

    sweet news!!!
I'm happy for this title as well. I have one of the PS2 imports and when I saw X I hoped it would make it over here.
I also agree with c0ldb33r a collection package would be awesome.

They've been making Onechanbara games since 2004, and they have been budget titles since the beginning.

Yeah, the Wii version isn't my first choice either, but if this one does well, hopefully the others will come.

I wish this game had come out for the PlayStation 2 in the U.S., but since Adventures of Darwin just confused everyone, D3 has already stated that they refuse to bring any other games from their PlayStation 2 Simple 2000 series to the U.S.

I thought these games were crappy? I mean, a game starring a swordfighting bikini girl in a cowboy hat and fuck me boots slicing up zombies comes with a certian level of greatness built in but that's only enough to bump it up to "only buy if it's around $10"

so I'll only get it if it's around $10 or if it's stupidly awesome

Well, it's spawned several sequels and a low budget movie, finally nice to see that a version will be coming over. Bought that bonus soundtrack cd and now no need for a Freeloader just to play it.

Wait, Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers? What the hell was wrong with title Oneechanbara Revolution? That's a good way to kill off potenial sales from people on the fence already about Aya on the cover.

Provided it's reasonably priced I'll pick this up, if only to encourage more to be brought over.

I don't think that's the case. Do you have a link to the quote of them saying that?

Which is region coded, correct? I'm just excited to be able to LEGALLY PURCHASE one of the series in my own country for a change.

I certainly do, Cryomancer, and it certainly is the case, much to my chagrin since I love the Simple 2000 series. Here's a Gamasutra interview with the bigwigs of D3 Publisher where they state that D3 wants to focus on big-budget games like Dark Sector in the U.S. versus the Simple series. No, they don't mention Adventures of Darwin by name, but at the time of the interview, Darwin was the only Simple 2000 game that they had localized and released as a budget title and I'm pretty sure it tanked.

    http://www.gamasutra.com/features/20...field_01.shtml

Therefore, I don't think that one game coming to the Wii in the U.S. is an indicator that the rest of the Simple series Wii games are coming to the States.

    Stranger things have happened, though...

Homm...that article is 3 years old, though. Things are somewhat different now...I hope.

Three years ago the only Simple 2000 title released in the US would be the Bass Fishing game, I believe. We Now have...well, that, Darwin, and Metropolismania 2 but that's not published here by D3. It's a start...hopefully it can continue. I am trying to be hopefuly anyway.

Not to piss in anyone's cornflakes, but the series sucks hard. As much as I want to like it it is a waste of money...

If they're going to release any old Simple 2000 series games they should just release EDF 1&2. Now them's some great games!

Agreed regarding EDF. EDF series is easily my favorite sub-set of Simple Series games. I'd buy them at any reasonable price because you will get your money's worth from that game every time (well MAYBE not tactics). Onechanbara is somewhat less quality of a game, yeah. Certainly not going to be everyone's favorite.

Got they need to make an EDF4...preferably 360 with Palewing and online play...

Well, I think we're all in agreement that the Simple 2000 series is better than that crappy $19.99 line of budget Wii games that Conspiracy already released here in the U.S.

The sad part is that Onechanbara probably won't sell well on the Wii here since it features bikinis and no minigames.

Dunno, it would sit well next to No More Heroes, the upcoming Dead Rising port, and Mad World. Maybe Wii will eventually have a weird parity of kiddle minigame fests and bloodbath games?

This looks completely stupid, but it might just be so bad it's good. As in, I'll think about buying it if it's $20.

I'd like this on 360, please.

While we're at it, make another EDF, with co-op via xbox live, with more impressive damage modelling on the buildings/bugs/robots/ships and excellent explosions that don't lag the game to 2 FPS. That would become my favorite 360 game hands down.

Finally. once this hits, all the Japanese titles I wanted will have come to the states.
