I guess I would say that like the Sims, it's not really a game that you are going to have a particularly intense or fun experience playing, it's more mental in a way like a good strategy game where you are being spurred on by your desire to reach that next stage or level of success. If you don't like games of that type, you're never going to enjoy this one.
It's out today! Anyone buy it yet?
I'd go buy it, if I didn't feel like total ass, today.
Well I for one stuck this game into my brain as fast as I could, I was totally swept up in it and played it til 4.30am on a worknight. It is definitely a go to game now, like Civ and the Fallouts.
A+: want to go home and play it right now.
I thought the DS version wasn't out yet.

Hey, I need some friends in Spore. My name is robotriot if you'd like to add me.
I just came to space stage, finally there's some interesting gameplay coming up, it's a lot more complex than everything that came before that. I'll have to play some more though to make a final verdict on the game.
Amazon.com score for Spore - 1 out of 5 stars. XD
I know the score comes from 2 years of being able to score a game not even out but the rants are good for a laugh.
Fear your thoughts because they become your words
Fear your words because they become your actions
Fear your actions because they become your habits
Fear your habits because they become your character
Fear your character because it becomes your destiny

Actually, it's a anti-DRM protest.

Looks like the game lives up to its name. The DRM for the game utilizes securom which is essentially a virus that installs itself without warning when you install the game. There is no way to completely remove it without reformatting and it is constantly running in the background if not removed. Sucking up computer resources.
"No way to completely remove it without reformatting" ? That's a bit harsh.

Picked up the Galactic Edition at circuit city. There's a bonus $10 gift card with purchase and free t-shirt.
EA did pretty good with the GE. The actual slipcase is hard plastic with extruded spore-bits all over it. Really solid, feels like it'll outlast your allowed installs. :P

Pirates are missing out on a huge chunk of what makes the game interesting, namely the online aspect of seeing all the user-generated content in your game world. They've been slagging a game they've only half-experienced. Also DRM is evil, and should be destroyed, but most of those people on Amazon abusing the ratings/review system for a game they haven't bought are copypasta lemmings who probably weren't going to buy the game anyway.
All the negative word-of-mouth from pirates was enough to put me off from preordering the game initially, but after reading reviews from people who experienced the fully-featured version I eventually rethought my position, got excited about the game again, and picked it up. I'm glad I did, because I'm having a blast with it right now.
The two reviews of the DS version on Gamerankings at the moment paint a rather ugly picture.
