Cool good ps2 games for a 12 yr. old girl.

Alrighty, well I've decided to buy my younger sister a few games for the holidays. I was wondering what games you would recommend?

Today I showed her Katamari and she seemed interested, its now at the top of my list.
I will also like to toss a good 2-player racing game in there. she likes the genere, plus It would give us time to play together.
so far, this is what I have in mind...

    Katamari
    SSX tricky
    klanoa

all the recommended game lists I've found seemed to be geared toward a older crowd. Games like resident evil 4, metal gear solid, GTA, they just wouldn't suit her.

Oh, I'm 21, and pretty much living in the past. I stick with my classic mame machine, occasional nes, and a commodore.

Wasn't Road Trip available for the PS2? That one has fans.

I thought that Road Trip and ChoroQ rocked, but your mileage may vary. Gadget Racers may be the safest bet as far as ChoroQ HG games go, as it's purely a racing game without the single player adventure fluff (...that made Road Trip and ChoroQ so great...). Damnit, just get them all since they shouldn't set you back more than $5-$7 a piece.

Kim Possible - What's the Switch? is a hella good 2d platformer that's age-appropriate. If you enjoy classic 2d action platformers in the slightest then you'll probably want to borrow it from her at some point, too. There's a 2p mode that I haven't tried on it yet. I don't believe it's co op, though...simply alternating turns.

Adventures of Cookie & Cream has some nice 2p co op gameplay, but it's the kind that'll drive both of you batshit insane and have you chucking controllers through your tv. I can't think of a better way to spend Christmas!

(Speaking of the ChoroQ games, how was the Game Boy Advance version?)

There's the Spyro series. The first Jak and Daxter is great and even though the Crash Bandicoot series has faltered, Crash Twinsanity is fun, challenging and has a great sense of humour.

A good 2 player game is Hot Shots Golf 3 (and probably 4). The Hot Shots series is fun even if you don't like sport games. It doesn't take itself too seriously. As for racing games, you can check out the Need for Speed series. There always pretty solid.

The only game that my sister (who was 13 at the time) played through to the end, and still talks about, is Beyond Good and Evil. Of course, I'd recommend that to anyone regardless of age.

Someone mentioned Dark Cloud 1 and 2, those are excellent.

Odin Sphere is beautiful and easy to get into.

Actually, yeah... Juganawt's list is probably the way to go

Dog's Life is pretty decent. Possibly Magic Pengel or Graffiti Kingdom too.

    HMMMMM.....

Katamari Damacy and/or We <3 Katamari should be your first stop shop. You can't get much more perfect than that.

Karaoke Revolution is pretty universally fun for boys and girls of all ages.

Lumines Plus - if she's a fan of Tetris type puzzlers, you can't lose there either, great game.

AntiGrav and EyeToy:Play 2 are both great titles for that peripheral and pretty reasonably priced with the camera packed in.

SSX Tricky is probably the most accessible of the SSX titles, but I'd personally recommend the 3rd installment - it's the best of the series (and still supports online play).

For a 12 yr old gal...
    Sly Cooper series
    Harvest Moon
Beyond Good and Evil was covered well enough. Same with Katamari.
    ICO
    Okami
Perhaps DDR and Karaoke Revolution? I think a preteen girl would love these. Karaoke Revolution Party for a two-fer. You sing into a mic and dance on a pad.

Both games have slightly more risque humor than most would think. Nothing to be too concerned about, but if you're going to allow T-rated games then Jak X Combat Racing would make a fun 2p racing title.

    Can't believe I forgot to mention :

    PSYCHONAUTS!!

The platforming can get a bit advanced at times, but thankfully the controls and physics in the game are as tight as any other A+ 3D platformer, and the story and voice work is hilarious!

    Ok

ALL GIRLS LOVE SPYRO. Its a proven fact.

There are a lot of suggestions above that may have content that a young girl might like, but that actual gameplay would be a turn off, Like Shadow of the Colossus for example. The princess in distress story she would like, but not the shakey gameplay and difficulty.

Stay away from games targeted at girls like the stupid Barbie games or Brats and that crap. Its just that, crap.

If she is really getting into it, try something a little more in deapth like Kingdom Hearts.

I'd say start with Spyro, the build from there..

I was going to suggest Kingdom Hearts and The Sims or any variant of. My twelve year old loves both of them. Also in any "girl game" suggestion thread isn't it manditory to mention Bust A Move?
