Default August 2007 NPD sales data

I just read this on wii.ign.com.

August 2007 NPD hardware sales data:

    Wii: 403,000
    DS: 383,000
    Xbox 360: 276,000
    PlayStation 2: 201,000
    PlayStation 3: 130,000
    PSP: 115,000

Note: The Wii and DS have taken the top two spots on the hardware sales charts every month since November 2006.

August 2007 NPD software sales data:

    Madden NFL 08 (Xbox 360): 900,000
    Madden NFL 08 (PlayStation 2): 645,000
    Bioshock (Xbox 360): 490,000
    Wii Play (Wii): 256,000
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii): 220,000
    Mario Strikers Charged (Wii): 148,000
    Madden NFL 08 (Wii): 115,000

"Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, unveiled on August 28, moved about 220,000 units in four days, which is no slouch. Prime 3: Corruption sold better in three or four days than Prime 2: Echoes did in two weeks."

So...what? If you like games that are on a certain system, buy that system. I always hated people that try to justify their purchase(s) with sales number arguments. Not that you are a Wii/DS lover or a 360/PS3 hater but like Dave Chapelle says:"Fine! You are not a whore...but you ARE wearing a whore's uniform...it's confusing!"

I don't see how he was arguing anything. It's just a listing of sales data. It's not necessarily to justify one's purchase -- some of us actually find this stuff interesting in and of itself.

Some interesting things last month. 360 sales are up, finally. I believe this is the first month that it's outsold PS2. PS3 sales are also up a little bit, but it seems it didn't benefit that much from the price drop. PSP sales are way down -- what happened there? It was doing pretty damn well a few months ago.

Exactly. Kjmontana doth protest too much, methinks.

PSP sales are decent, but nowhere near the DS. What's interesting is Nintendo is outselling all of the competition combined. Didn't some people claim Nintendo would be bankrupt by now?

I'm interested to see what happens as we approach Christmas. The next three months will be exciting.

I'll give you a hint. The Wii and DS will still be selling like crazy.
