My first cd player was a sony stereo tower for 1000$ :-) Can't remember the year and am to lazy to look it up, but the first Nirvana CD was in the charts then. And this was the first CD I ever bought.
I had been working on some holiday jobs for a few weeks and really really wanted to have a stereo. It would have been even more expensive, but it was on discount, hehe. Still, it was worth it, it's still running today.

First CD system? Dreamcast in 2000.

I don't remember what my first audio CD player was, but my first CD-based gaming system was the Sega CD, which I got in '93 to play WWF Rage in the Cage and Sonic CD.

My parents bought a CD player for the family in 1987. It was an expensive JVC that could hold up to seven CDs. It died eleven years later in 1998.

Got my first CD player for Xmas of 1987 - it was a Sony. Back then, the player was almost $300. Nowadays, a really good CD player runs you around $50 or less..

My first CD was The Beatles' Abbey Road.

The CD player still works. The amp doesn't. So it sits in my attic. It's been replaced several times over.

My first portable CD player was this.

The Sony D-350. Has the features of (what was by 1990 standards) of a top of the line shelf system, and sound you wouldn't believe. But the laser was prone to failure, and broke after a short time. I went through 5 of these, before I gave up on it, and Sony completely.

My first game CD game system was the Sega CD.

Personally, my first CD player was my first CD based gaming system. It was the SEGA Saturn, and I got it in August 1999.

My parents had a Sony boombox player with detachable speakers since the early to mid 90s, but I never used it.

yes actually my first CD player was the Sega CD as well. I thought it was the best thing ever. My first 2 CDs were NWA "Str8 outta Compton" and Eazy-E (It's On). I thought it was the greatest thing ever. I think it was around 1994-1995 era.

My first CD based console was the 3DO yea but it was still impressive at the time.

My first CD player was with a very nice stereo back in 1990. It was single disc but still pretty damn expensive.

I think my first music CD's were Nirvana - Nevermind, Pearl Jam - Ten and Alice in Chains - Dirt... think I got Tool - Undertow after that. I wore alot of flannel back then.

Wow, this topic really makes me feel nostalgic.

My first CD player, IIRC, was a Sony Discman D121: Pic

My first CD? The Soup Dragon's Lovegod: Album Info

My first CD based game system was the TurboGrafx 16 w/ CD attachment and something like 25+ games (both hu-card and cdrom) I traded two long boxes of comics for with a friend.

My first cd-based system was the Sega CD. Model 1. Still have it somewhere. All I remember playing on it was Sonic CD & Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side.

As far as my first audio cd player I remember it but I can't tell you exactly what kind it was. Probably an off-brand from Wal-Mart. It wasn't portable. Boombox style. I can tell you first cd....Metallica's black album. I believe the year was '92 when I bought that.

What, no one had a CD-Rom for PC?
My first CD player was also my CD system: Mitsumi single speed CD-Rom for my second PC (HP 386 Vectra) in 1993 (I think). I couldn't enclose it into my desktop, so I nailed/ taped it to the desk. Served me well until 1996 or even later?

Oh, I remember my first CD-ROM. It was a huge external single-speed drive (about as large as your usual DVD-standalone-player) and cost me $400. I don't remember what year that was in, but I bought it together with a friend of mine. Then we bought a shareware-CD (for approx $80) and thought it was a really good investment, because no one's ever going to need more software, right? *sigh*

The Sega CD was the first CD player my family ever owned. I can't really remember what music CDs we first played on it, though. It wasn't until we got stand-alone CD players that we really started buying any CDs.

Our first CD player was part of our stereo in 1986 (no we weren't rich). I didn't get a CD based game system until the PS2 in 2001, 15 years later.
