The signing went great and was lots of fun. Gamer Over owner David Kaelin is really cool to deal with and is a true pro in terms of video game retailing. His store is awesome. We're already talking about doing another signing during next Christmas season.
Don Rogers, who lives in San Antonio and helps the DP guys with the Classic Gaming Expo each year, came into the store, and I recognized him from my trip to Vegas this past summer. We had an interesting conversation about collecting classic games.
well i've read through the thread a couple of times and i guess i should chime in. I'm pretty much in san antonio. Are any other get togethers going to be scheduled?
A bit late to this thread, but I'm game for a get together of Texan gamers (DP or otherwise), it's just that I'd have to know of an event like a month and a half in advance is all. I attended a few get togethers from other forums in the past (two in SATX and one in Austin back when PowerCade was still at the DOBIE Mall), but neither of them had stellar results. Guess after that I was a bit jaded. Still though, at damn near 30 years old, a overly rambunctious 2 year old daughter, and work, work, work, work, work, work, work... I wouldn't mind an old school kind of meet 'em up and free for all.
With swords & guns, I kick ass. The future beware!
Im a bit late as well... been lurking this site for like a month or so and saw this thread. If anything is happening in the future im down.
Off topic but does anyone in San Antonio know a place that sells old consoles and/or video games? I know of pawn shops and flea markets etc.
Just saw this myself. I'm in Arlington in the Dallas area. If you guys do something in the future, let me know.
DFW DPers, Brett is one of them, I think he's in Wautaga, while I'm in Keller. I snaked a Super Pong 10 one day 10 secs before him. That Saturday he beat me to a Sega Saturn goldmine including the Panzer Dragoon games, all 3 complete, Mr. Bones and more. Nice guy but DON'T go hunting with him, he will sniff out the goods before you will anyday! All honesty, he is genuine and I look forward to buying his book.
I have two basic food groups, fast and frozen.
The Texas Pinball Convention is March 14-16 in Grapevine. They always have a number of classic video games set on free play, plus, of course, tons of pinball machines.
I've been several times and always have a blast. We should all get together and hang out. If nothing else, we could go grab a bite to eat at the Whataburger, which is easily within walking distance.

Good to hear from you!
Heh, I remember it well! I was shocked to see you standing in line at Thrift Town with that Super Pong and Intellivision. The Saturn find more than made up for it, though.
Shoot me an email if you want to purchase a signed copy of the book.

Thanks!

I just talked to the Texas Pinball Festival head honcho, and we finalized an agreement. Lord willin' and the crick don't rise, I'll be there on March 15th from 2-4, signing my book.
Maybe everyone could meet at the autographing table around 3:30 or 4, and then we could make plans for grabbing a bite to eat or playing a few rounds of pinball or whatever.

I'm going to try and make it there. No promises, though. For some dang reason, I have missed the past three years of the show! I usually find out about it the day after the event, which is aggravating. Last year, my jerk boss made me work. This year, come hell or high water, I'm going to make it. Maybe I'll get my brother to go with me like he did with the Houston show. He loved that one more than I thought he would.
Thanks for posting the info about this here, My radar is so low-powered lately, I'm certain I would've missed it. That's Spring Break in these parts and we'll be travelling the first part of the week. Maybe we'll get to Grapevine on the 15th.
Chronogamer. Every game. Chronologically.

Sounds great!
I will try to make it on Saturday, hope to meet any DP'ers while enjoying some classic pinball and gaming!

Man is a gaming animal. He must always be trying to get the better in something or other.
Hit me up if you Dallas boys ever have a get together. I'm in Denton.
Some of us DPers are going to the Texas Pinball Festival in Grapevine, which you can read about here:
