    Default I miss Sega...

Yeah, they're still around. Making new titles for today's generation of consoles. But something is absolutely missing here. I have spent my off time the past few days playing the Master System, the Genesis, the Saturn, and of course the Dreamcast. There is an overwhelming "Sega feel" here, something that does not seem to have been faithfully reproduced with their games on other consoles. Maybe it's just me.

I really miss Sega in the console world. I realize that statement has probably been played out to no end, but I feel I must say it yet again. I think we need Sega in our console world personally, but, I guess that is never going to happen again

Sega to me is pretty dead, although I hear VF5 is pretty good. Gosh they have bastardized the Sonic franchise though.

When I played an Xbox360 for the first time (a few weeks ago, actually), I noticed that it felt a lot like I was playing a Sega console. At least, Dead Rising did, even though it's a Capcom game.

I too miss sega! They were the only company that cared as much about their software as their hard ware. Them and nintendo were always competing over who had the best games, but now people only care about graphics, HD, and online cababilitie's*sigh* DAMN YOU XBOX LOVING BASTARDS! DAMN YOU ALLLL!!!!!

I like my Xbox and consider it an adopted Sega console (probably because I bought it *for* a Sega game).

I also don't use XBOX Live or have any type of HD setup...but thats beside the point.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sega consoles had great graphics and were among the early adopters of online capabilities for their games.

Hey, the game changes all the time. Happens every day in the business world, especially in technology. There are plenty of older games & systems to collect and play, probably more than one person could reasonably play in their lifetime at this point. There are lots of new games to enjoy as well; you just have to be willing to look for them.

Everything will be okay, just try to stay calm.

Console wars have always been about graphics. Remember the whole "Genesis does what Nintendon't" campaign? Then the SNES was touted as having better graphics/sound than the Genesis, ad nauseam.

The reason why it felt like you were playing a sega console is... Well... Look at the Dreamcast controller, and compare it to the gen 1 XBOX controller (and of course they kept the layout for the 360.) I curse Microsoft, yet I couldn't blame them. The Dreamcast had one of the coolest controller layouts, and in my opinion would be one of the best candidates for a knock-off controller.

    Microsoft... Oy...

It appears as though Sega had their own audience, aside from the typical gamers that would play Mortal Kombat. It is almost as if they had shed new light on the gaming industry, and nobody had their eyes open.

One of my largest collections would have to be my Genesis. I play that system more than I do anything else, and not just Sonic. Sega CD was the most distinct system I had ever played, and nothing compares to it. Sonic CD has to be one of the most addicting side-scrollers I have, and I could never put it down when I picked it up.

Don't even get me started on the Saturn... (we'd be here for days on one post.)

Oh, come now. It might have had some games you enjoyed, but it had a lot of the same awful multimedia crap that came out on other systems too.

Yeah, Sega messed up a few times over the years but they are forgiven (or should be) because the good they did outweighs the bad.

I suppose someone with a lot more knowledge on the situation would need to fill me in on this. I know Sega dropped their sports franchises but why?

I think it had to do with something about EA acquiring exclusive rights to make games with the sports teams.

I was mainly playing Nintendo games in the late 90's with the SNES. I didn't really play many games after getting an N64 as there weren't many that I liked on that system. Then I got a Dreamcast in 2001 and was back into gaming, it was the perfect system for me because I liked fighting/racing/arcade games, which were abundant on the DC. I was finished collecting DC games and got an Xbox for cheap, and it kind of feels like a Dreamcast 2 with sequels of DC titles and the emphasis on action/arcade games.

Sega will ALWAYS be number 1 in my view and blood. Best team EvEr..."Team SEGA". I'm hooked on the Master system, and Genesis the most. These two systems came in my life first. SEGA For Life!!!

I miss Sega making consoles. At least they are still making new titles for other system's. I mean I still think it's weird to be playing a Sonic title on the PS2, Gamecube or Xbox. But I would be even more sad if they wouldnt be making titles for all consoles.
