I haven't bought anything there in years but it's still sad to hear that a long time gaming software mail order company has gone.

Back in the early 90's you used to see their ads in magazines like VG&CE or Game Player's and you could pretty much get whatever you wanted for the game systems or computers of the day. Back then getting computer games I wanted for my new-to-me-but-really-used IBM PC clone 8088 was hard to do as I lived two steps from the sticks and I didn't have my license yet. Even then, finding a decent selection of titles without having to drive to "the big city" was hard. So I let my fingers do the walking and called up Chips & Bits to get software I wanted.

I remember buying Star Trek V (ugh) and Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp (on like 8 floppy diskettes!) from them and a buddy of mine bought more stuff from them like hard to find games (in our area) like Might and Magic for the Genesis. He also preordered the PC vaporware title Champions, based on the Pen and Paper role playing game.

By the time I got my license and car the stores began changing, offering more in the way of PC titles and some places (like Musicland, which was weird) started getting PC games by the boat full at blow out prices. There was also a used game store in town so I could get my console games on the cheap as well. 1992 was the last time I ordered from C&B.
