Hello,
I recently got my hands on the Secret of Mana prototype. After playing a little i noticed some changes in the text and such. would DP be interested in me playing through to see changes to add this to the rarity guide?

well, i don't think that belongs in the games entry, maybe in the prototype section. But, what i would be interested in would be pictures and a dump of the rom ;)

I will post pictures and write some examples of the changes. dumping the rom however will be difficult since i don't have the equipment. Should i start a new topic in the protoype forum for this?

no, just ask a mod to move this topic to the proto forum
well, where are you from? i'm pretty sure someone in your area has the equipment to dump it :)

well, what kind of camera do you have? if you have a $20 8 Megapixel (just kidding) camera, you can't expect it to focus well on close distances ;)
if you have a good cam (my Canon Powershot A75 would have no problem with those pics) you can probably select a special "close-up" setting which will help you on this..

well i have a toshiba 1.5megapixel cam from like 1999 so that probably explains it. I am going to my parent's house later to drop off some stuff so while i am there i will scan it in and get a much better pic.

Like others want to know, how did you obtain this? Also, the are people here on the board that will dump the game for you (you just need to send it to them, don'r worry, they are very trustworthy).

Well, I won it in an auction on eBay.
As for sending it out for a rom dump I am a little reluctant because i am currently playing it to see the differences between the proto and commercial versions. Now if someone lives near me and wants to borrow it for a few hours thats ok :)

Very nice. I look forward to hearing about the differences you find.
wow, very nice.
two suggestions:
1.) cover the windows of the eproms with sticky tape or whatever to prevent bit rot. (uv-radiation erases the eproms data)
2.) add a 64k sram chip to the free slot in order to be able to save your progress in the game.
i can send one over to you for free, cause i have dozens of them here.
