We've all got our milestones, whether it be "game number 1000", "complete collection x", "obtain all Activision cartridges", etc.

Each time you reach a milestone this year, enter it into this thread. It should be fun to check back in a year later to see what kind of progress we all made.

I was on vacation this past weekend, and upon arriving home, i had a package waiting for me. that package contained Sports Jam for Dreamcast.... the very last Dreamcast game i needed for a complete US set. all official releases (including all 3 browsers), bleemcasts, sonic and shenmue le, official DC magazine demos...

I wanted to hit the 500 individual game mark.
Started the year off just over 300 and earlier this week i hit the 325 marker.

Now i just need to get enough cash to buy the games.
I really need a job...

Some minor goals along the way are
20 SNES individual titles CIB (currently 5-8)
100 NES individual titles CIB (55 currently)
30 Genesis individual titles CIB (15ish currently)
30 DC Individual titles CIB (18ish currently)
All of the Mortal Kombat games CIB for each system i own (about20 w/out variations)

I guess the only thing I want to achieve in 2005 is that I get more SMS games, probably off of eBay, or trading since they are pretty rare around here.... my 2004 milestone was pretty unrealistic, so hopefully this one can be accomplished. :D

Games: About 130-135.

Consoles: 18 unique, 21 total.

My current top collection is NES games, with 29. Lowest? I only have 1 Game Boy Advance game and 1 SC-3000 game. I only 2 games for each of these consoles: Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Game.com, PlayStation 2, TI-99, TRS-80 and Virtual Boy.

I sometimes can't believe how far I've taken my first year of game collecting. I've thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it and hope it only continues to grow. I will complete every sega collection sooner or later. ;D

A few goals for this year :

1. Collect all unique NA RE games - Just need RE Gaiden (pending) and for my limited edition RE4 to arrive. This one is a slam dunk for sure.

2. Collect remaining NA RE variants. Basically just PSX GH/non GH/dual shock variations of RE 1-3. Not extremely difficult, just depends how much energy and $ I feel like using.

3. Collect remaining Biohazard games. Not that likely unless I make another trip overseas. Prices are pretty inflated when buying them online from Canada.

4. Finish up my NA SMS collection. About 25 to go. Not too bad except for Buster Douglas. I'll probably accept Heavyweight champ in lieu of that.

5. Enjoy the games that I've collected so far. :D Easy!

My collecting milestones are probably going to be some of the strangest, because I have decided that I want to mostly stop buying games (*gasp!*) until I have played some more.

The first is to play all of the Xbox, GameCube and opened Dreamcast games that I own. I have probably 10 Xbox titles I haven't played, two or three GameCube titles and about 50 Dreamcast titles.

The second is to beat a bunch of games that I started and either am really enjoying or stopped playing for a long time. I don't know why, but I'm HORRIBLE at beating games... I get to about 90% of the way and then stop on games I love. I don't know why I do it, but I do. Anyway, these games I want to beat include:

Xbox Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
Xbox Star Wars: KOTOR
Xbox Headhunter Redemption
Xbox Dead to Rights
GameCube Metroid Prime
GameCube Mario Kart: DD
Dreamcast Headhunter (one of my favorite games of all time... I stopped playing about about 95% done!)

Playstation Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 4 (in Origins and Anthology or whatever it is)

I want to publish at least four more titles this year. Since I am currently complete with the systems I love to collect for (Jaguar and DC), and the only other things I collect are relatively stupid stuff just to say I have it (Action Max, anyone?? Didn't think so...), I have found that my favorite thing to have is a new Dreamcast title. And with the games that I know should be coming, I'm extremely, extremely excited to get to play the final versions myself :) The future of the Dreamcast may be a lot better than people think :D

I just passed the 1,700 mark on my collection. I was at 1,699 and I just won some auctions for 4 games, bringing me to 1703. I should make it past the 2,000 mark hopefully by springtime.

I am switching gears right now. I used to want to own every game available for my favorite systems. I have decided to focus on just the good titles. The really good titles. I don't have a lot of money to spend on games so I may as well get the best bang for my buck. I am doing this by picking up collections of 5 to 20 games from eBay and selling off the unwanted stuff. I can usually end up getting the games I want to keep for a fraction of their individual price.

Another goal of mine is to NOT have to sell of my collection again. Financial reasons. :/

Last year I had one milestone reached and that was to get to play one of my top 3 favorite games on every system it was made for. That is ;

And a sealed disk for the Commodore 64. The odyssey version is in a 128 in 1 miulti cart which was easier to get than the original. It took 2 years of waiting till the PC JR. one came up on eBay and it only cost me $20. Some people must have been watching because the next two brought in $40 and $50 within 3 weeks so I think I got a bargain.

The Atari versions rule. The 8bit being my favorite. Haven't taken the cart out of my 400 for years. probably stuck in there!

Still haven't found a new obsession yet.

In 1981 My parents celebrated my moving out by buying my sister a 2600. I wanted something a bit more than just a game system so a year later in 1982 I bought a Sinclair ZX81 and a few months later my first game. Chess. Followed by a flight simulator and some maze game.

A year after that in 1983, to celebrate my first job I bought my first console. A Coleco. Stopping at the video store on the way home from buying this Coleco I saw they had rental games for sale. So instead of renting I bought my first used games. Smurfs and Frenzy. Only a month later my sister got tired of the 2600 and my parents let me "borrow" it. And only a few months after that the video store sold me a used Intellivision for $20.

Three consoles. One obsession. A new job with a chunky raise in 1985 and the demise of the video game world meant one had to look to computers. So $700 later I had an Atari 800xl setup to die for.

So the precedent started 20 years ago. Yard sales in the mid 80's started turning up video games. Buy it used gets lots more. More MORE!

Yesterday I got a Nintendo DS. this makes 52 different "systems" I have games for. After updating my game inventory from the last 4 months I noticed my total was up to 1003 games. I really can't say which was the 1000th game so I am going to consider it the metroid demo that came with the DS.

Come a long way from that ZX81 chess game....

Well, I am rapidly nearing the 1000 game mark. Currently at 928, and will probably pass the 1000 mark by the end of April. While that is a nice milestone all in itself, I have my sights set on several other goals this year. My NES collection is currently at 466 games. This includes many of the rarer titles which would normally take me a long time to get. With approximately 300 games left to go, it should be fairly easy for me to finish off the collection by the end of the year. With the end in sight for my NES collection, I've also begun to collect for several other systems I hadn't previously been serious about. I hope to get a complete Virtual Boy, 32x, and Master System collection. I'm also aiming at a 7800 collection, but I don't care so much about that system being complete.

Just completed one "goal", a doki doki panic cart.

I got one a few months ago also. Took me over a year to get it. It was the hardest game for me to get out of my whole collection and I got some REALLY rare games and they didn't even touch how hard it was to get a Doki Doki Panic cart. Wish the guide would reflect it's rarity instead of being a zero :( It should be more like an 8 or a 9.

My milestone has been gaining focus for my collecting.
I am a NES only collector, with the same goal as many other collectors- the elusive "one of each" collection.

I switched gears into buying rarities instead of buying "bulk" games to fill common holes. The way this classic NES game market is moving, I believe that in years to come, these games will be worth much more than they are today- thus, I am better served getting the "expensive" ones today while they are still pretty cheap rather than waiting for tommorow when a Maxi-15 or a Peek-A-Boo poker sells for 4-Digit prices.

My goal for this year is to finally finish my unliscensed NES collection. Been on that one since 96. Then pick up some more boxes/instructions I need. I have over 80 of the games complete so I think that leaves 48 to go, not counting those pirate things that may have been sold in the US.

This year I got all the NTSC 2600 Tigervision games (only took 7 years). Also over 500 unique titles now for that system. Also completed the 7800 library of games.

Well I hit my 100th NES game back in March, and I'm currently at 129.

My main goal this year is to finish off the "black box" games without paying out the nose for the DK's. After that I'm going to finish out every NoA NES game.

2 realistc goals I belive.

I started collecting heavily with the intent of gaining a massive NES collection, but I have realized that I don't care for about 70% of the games out there. So after I get done with the above I'm going to start focusing on the NES games I actually want (to play) and NoA games across every other system (will have to buy a GC & DS sometime, hopefully after price drops).

Just reached over 100 games for my Intellivision, which will probably be about it, as they are just getting hard to find (the rare ones of course).

My Odyssey2 (w/imports) collection went over 150 games last month, and will rise more really, really soon. This, of course, is the collection I'm most proud of - as if anyone couldn't tell by my other post, sig, and such. ;)

My Lynx collection should hit 100+ this year (currently at 94 and counting).

My total collection will hit 800 really soon too. This is currently at 795!

Welcome to my biggest personal milestone yet. As I post this tonight at 1:55 am on 4-24-05 eastern time, I have added my 500th game to my collection. The lucky game was Championship Bowling (cart and a sliced box) for the NES. My friends gave me a belated birthday present of all their old NES games and a Power Pad and they pushed me over 500. Here's the awesome part:

I began collecting in september of 2004. On 9-24-04, I reached game #250. It had taken my my whole life to get most of those games. It was Operation Wolf, an NES game. Now, exactly 6 months later to the day, I have doubled the amount of games I own from 250 to 500. Never in my life would I have dreamed of such a thing. Thanks to everyone who made this possible both at home and here on DP. Here's to the next 500 everyone! :cheers:

So last night I found a couple of Ti99 games I owned that I couldn't remember being on my IGN listing. A quick check later and I found 5 games that I hadn't listed. This got me thinking of how many other games I owned that I didn't have catalogued. So I did a complete inventory last night. When all was said and done I found that I had 995 games instead of the 979 I thought I had. So today I set out with the goal of breaking 1000 and I'm proud to say that *cough* Nightmare on Elm Street (NES) is my 1000 game. Now that this milestone is passed, I think it's time to slow down the collecting and focus on my NES collection instead of buying everything for every system. Hopefully I'll get the credit cards paid off then I can shoot for 2000!

Acquired all "non-demo/oddity" $100+ valued Saturn games in '05 (last being Crows: The Battle Action).
Acquired a Hitachi Navi GPS HiSaturn, completing my collection of Sega Saturn models (except for the Korean one, which I'm not even sure it exists).

Coming up:
Hope to finish getting all of the 2D based-non-RPG Saturn games (12 2D shooters to go, 13 2D fighters to go).
Hope to break 500.
Hope to have a complete US Saturn collection.
Hope to complete the Saturn Trinity (Derisoba Deluxe, Eyeful Home, and Heim Waltz) this year.

I passed the 1900 game mark.

Also passed the 300 game mark for the Atari 2600.

I need 1 more game to have 100 Intellivision game and 12 more to have 100 Saturn games.

I have also scanned the box front, box back, manual cover and cart for all my Atari 7800, Sega 32X and Sega Master System games. Well, count me as another person to hit 600 recently! Hurray! With the addition of five new PlayStation games and a dupe of Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (for some reason, my boyfriend wanted his own personal copy O_o ), we hit 600 right on the dot. I also got my third R7 (possibly my fourth?), all of which are on PlayStation. I'm two games away from having 150 PlayStation games as well, which I probably would've hit today, but my boyfriend bought a guitar at the pawn shop and I had to lend him all the cash I had on me. They had Silent Hill and Incredible Crisis, and I was mildly interested in Fear Effect too. Oh well, maybe some other time. o_O

Thanks to Cauterize and Shermand I reached the and passed the 800 games mark! Got from Cauterize an SMS lot, and got from Shermand Simpsons Bart vs Space Mutants SMS Tectoy version. I still look to get the Euro versions as well as the other NTSC regions, Brazil, South Corea, and so on. I am also contemplating to complete the 32X collection, grabbing a few games here and there. I've only been collecting seriously since the beginning of this year, so while I'm not new to gaming, I am still "wet behind the ears" when it comes to collecting. :roll: I'm mainly a Nintendo fan and I'm working on N64 and NES US release sets. I'm focusing on the N64 for now since a complete set is a more realistic goal for now, at least when compared to a complete NES set. I just hit 65 N64 games and I have just over 100 NES games. About half of my N64 games are complete with box and manual. Also, I'm kind of anal about cart labels, so almost everything I have has at least a NM label :D My next goal is to reach 100 complete N64 games by the end of the year. On a side note, I've had some good luck so far as a collector. I found and bought out three old Authorized Nintendo Repair Centers. I already have several NES and SNES test carts in my collection...sorry, since my collection numbers are still fairly small, I had to brag at least a little about this :D

Not more than a month ago, I hit #600 in games and #75 in systems. Currently getting up into the 620 range game-wise, and still at 75 systems. Also, the purchase that made me cross the 600 mark? The Zelda collection, by far and very large the biggest purchase I ever made ($1680 was the final number, beating my previous largest purchase by $1530 (May 12, '05: PSP, 1 PSP game, 7 GC games for $150)).

I have over 100 Sega CD, Intellivision, and Saturn games now.
Over 350 Atari 2600 games.

I have a complete CIB O2, SMS (I have some to the conclusion that Sonic is not a US release) and 32X collection.

I have a complete Atari 7800 collection but I need a few boxes and manuals to have them all CIB.

I need 4 more games to have 700 Genesis games. 10 more to have the entire library.

I think I need 30-40 more games to have 2200 total games.

I went up and over the 400 NES game mark today thanks to the continuing EB sale. I was disappointed at first because there wasn't much on the shelf. The manager mentioned they had about 150 in the back though. So he printed out a list and then spent the next hour finding the titles I marked. :)

I picked up 38 games total (32 new) and sent my total up to 410. The jump from 350 to 400 was FAST, as I've picked up about 60-70 from EB in the last month or two. So now that the days of cheap games from EB, Funco, etc. are about done, I expect it to be a loooong time before I get up to 500, but all in due time.

Well, it's not really a milestone I originally set out to achieve, and has kind of just worked out this way, but I have just surpassed my 500th sealed game! Again, it wasn't an intentional target, but worth mentioning as 500 is a nice round number

I have also just achieved my 700th game in total


As personal targets go, I would have to say a complete UK release collection of Pokemon games (GameBoy / GBC / GBA / DS / N64 / Cube) is perhaps my main personal milestone that I have set myself ~ If I can get all the UK released Pokemon games then I will be very happy indeed.

Another target I have is to get all PAL released Dreamcast games in sealed collection ~ I can report that I have about another 80 to go, which isn't bad going

I also want to get all the N-Gage games. Currently have about 38 I believe, so only a few missing at the moment...
