I'm Jenn, currently of San Francisco and formerly of Chicago. I am 26. I have long been an ardent, unregistered lurker at the DP forums. And earlier this year, as I distinctly remember, these forums had the greatest RetroDuo thread ever, which is to say, the last time I very nearly registered was in April.

I'm not sure how I first found the forums, but my friend ubersaurus (AKA Kevin) semi-persuaded me to finally sign up. I guess right now my main squeezes include import DS games, titles disseminated via digital distribution, and rail shooters. I also play a lot of DOS adventure games -- my current avatar of dubious morality is actually my Yserbius character over at INN Revival (http://innrevival.googlepages.com/). Maybe I will edit an actual 'favorite game' in later.

As for collecting, I buy mostly for SNES and Virtual Boy (and Wii and PS2 and 360), but my real focus is 2600 games, including homebrew. I am also the proud owner of a Gizmondo with a near-complete library of launch titles -- but that doesn't mean that I am a collector, just that I have a collection, I guess.

I began collecting because I had very dim memories of some videogames from my earliest, earliest childhood. They say you can't remember things that far back, and so I'd become really fixated with finding these old 2600 games just to prove to myself that I could remember my mom and dad clearly. Sometime in high school, my best friend surprised me with a heavy-sixer of my own, and tons of cartridges from thrift stores. We made a game of me describing a vague image, then guessing from among the titles on the floor which it was. We made a game of it. I found what I was looking for.

I used to work and podcast with other game journalists at a company. These days, I am a very happy full-time freelancer who ekes by. As a hobby I keep a games-centric blog over here (http://infinitelives.net). I also collect vinyl art toys and read comics.

Hey all!

I'm Rob, from Chicago, and I collect for all the systems I own. LOL

Which is a lot.

So yeah... I learned about Digital Press on rfgeneration.com, and I have finally signed up here. I may have a 'small' collection, but my goals are large. I want to own, by the end of summer next year, every Sega console/handheld released in the US. Not a bad goal, considering I am over half there!

My profile: http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1263

My collection: http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/collection.pl?action=profile&name=logical123&folder=Collection

Hope to be an active poster!!!

I’ve posted here a couple of times, and even bought a Genesis here, but we’ve never really introduced ourselves, so in a way we are sorta new to this forum.

My wife and I are are in our late 30s.

We both love retro-gaming, and love all of our old systems
(Atari 2600, TI-99/4A, Tomy Tutor, 3DO, Genesis/Sega CD, Duo-R/PC-Engine, N64, NES, Jaguar, SNES, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, and a Gamecube with GBA player)

We play all kinds of games, retro and current,
and have a ps3, Xbox 360 and also a Wii

We are just getting into homebrew and collecting obscure and old back-up devices, though we are just starting with that. We are just getting into homebrew, and are going to start with the Jaguar.

We play all kinds of games, retro and current,
Especially obscure stuff and stuff from Japan.
We play lots of Turn-based and rhythm games, though we also play 3rd person shooters and all kinds of stuff.

I love to make lists, and am working on several over the last year (like all point-n-click games on consoles, my co-op game list, all rhythm games list- There’s loads of existing lists, but none are comprehensive, etc. etc.)

(Right now, I'm getting some rhythm games from Japan through a deputy service, a bunch that I've never seen reviews of - we'll see if we can get past the Japanese!!!
I’ll have to list the names when I get time)

Anyway, if anyone here is in Humboldt (its on the coast and at the very top of the state, about an hour south of Oregon), drop us a line.....

Hello some of you may know me from AA or CTCW or even the dreaded evilbay I use the same user name everywhere brucebidder. I have been collecting since I was a teenager and got heavily into collecting in my early 20's. I am 29 right now. I collect classic gaming stuff for jsut about everything. I fade back and forth between systems over time and when I get tired of one go to another and then back again. I am a completist type of collector like to get stuff with box and manuals. Right now I am focusing on SMS and Lynx stuff mainly. I have a few complete collections:

Odyssey 1
Odyssey 2
Fairchild
RCA Studio 2

I am currently working on completing my lynx and SMS collections I am about 25 games away on my SMS, and well the lynx is debatable I have 81 different games but there are alot of aftermarket stuff I'm working on now so I guess I have about 40 more to go there....

My biggest and most proud collection are of Intellivision and Atari 2600 stuff. I also have a pretty nice Jaguar collection. I am missing Battlesphere, but I do have a voice modem:-P..

I have a few questions about this site. I first signed up a long time ago but did not ativate until recently. But I had a few messages from someone telling me about buddha and that we should be friends, whats that about?

Also I have been told that the longer I am on here that more stuff opens up is that true and I thought there was a buying and selling section am I blind or can't I find it....

Anyway nice to see you all, my name is Bruce and look forward to psoting around here....

Finally decided to get back into this forum, has been a long time since I checked in last time,a few years back, but I have been lurking about for sometime.I now have a 36x20 ft room solely dedicated to my hobby interest that I had constucted last December. It now houses almost all my videogames, over 5000 games for more than 40 different systems,a small area for my Lionel trains, and a 1970 re-creation of an audio salon/store/shop,complete with audio gear of that time period and current day, hooked up and sounding great.I have many, many videogaming magazines/books/shag...you name it.I have currently set-up all the gaming systems that start in the time period of the Sega SMS all the way to the X-Box.Almost all are functional and ready for play. The earlier systems will be setup by this winter.....I hope.Finding time to play games is always a challenge, and I value my time in the "Manuary"!! I have made almost all of the past CGE events helt in Las Vega, and hope there will be one in 2009.I guess that about explains why I'm here, from a videogaming standpoint...hope to contribute some to this site, and hope to communicate with other of/with similiar interest. hello
my name is joey
and i have been obsessed with video games for most of my life.
it started with the atari 2600
and was continued with the commodore 64.
then it was nes and snes.
eventually i was taken from the nintendo world
with the psx.
by the time i got a ps2 i realized i usually had more fun with older systems
so thats when my collecting really started.
i currently own 15 unique consoles
with multiple versions of most.

and my most current project
is collecting a full ntsc set of n64 games

Hey. I'm kupomogli and I live in Florida. I've been lurking here quite awhile and have been told by Ed Oscuro and Bloodreign I should join(about three years ago but I never did.)

Anyways. I own the NES, SNES, GB, GBA, DS, Gamecube, PSX, PS2, PSP, and PS3. Systems I've used to own and sold are the Atari2600, Dreamcast(blasphemy I know, though this one I really ended up giving to my bestfriend,) and XBOX 360. I never have owned an N64 but have owned and still do own Castlevania 64, Nightmare Creatures, Ogre Battle 64, and F Zero . I'd say I have a much larger collection than your average gamer and although I do have quite a bit, I'll end up selling games that aren't really good in my opinion(rare or not.) I'd say I have about 250-350.

Favorite system is the PSX. The reason why I favor this system more than others is because I was a huge RPG fan when it was out. I was already coming off from the SNES with Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, FF4, FF6, Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, 7th Saga, etc, etc, etc(also, not on the SNES, but I have to give a nod to my two first RPG games, Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior. Even though I'm no longer a fan of the original Dragon Warrior aside from the music and design, I'm still a big fan of the series overall and I love all the fanservice towards the original the later games do put in) The PSX was a haven for RPGs and a few of those are actually my favorite games.

When it comes to my favorite games, many of them being on the PSX, the one that goes above and beyond all others is Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together. It was originally on the SNES but I won't play a non translated game if it's text heavy. After playing this game it instantly became my favorite and I've yet to play another RPG that I've enjoyed as much. Other favorites(not limited to the PSX) would be Arc the Lad 2, Brigandine, Wild ARMs 3, Super Castlevania 4, Final Fantasy 6, Xenogears, Castlevania, Castlevania Belmont's Revenge, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Breath of Fire 3, Shadow of the Colossus, Mobile Suit Gundam Encounters in Space, and God Hand just to name a few.

I don't have a favorite type of game, but I'm mainly into either RPGs, Action, Action/Sidescrolling, or Action/Adventure. I'm somewhat into fighting games, though not really hardcore into it(however I am better than the average player in them as well.) I suck at FPS games so I'm not much of a fan of them.

Sometimes I might end up importing games. Usually it's something that consists of Gundam in the title or has something to do with Gundam, but I sometimes import other games. Like I posted earlier, I don't play any non translated text heavy games but I'm all for some action games as long as they don't suck(the majority of Gundam titles don't suck either as they're usually pretty solid action games and give quite a bit of replay value.)

So yeah. That's about it. Last thing is I think gaming is dying because pretty much every next gen title I've played other than Stranglehold, GTA4, and Dead Rising sucks. Atleast the PS2 and earlier systems have released a ton of amazing games.

I don't usually write introductions but I figured as far as a collecting forum goes it might give you an idea of what I have and what I do.

I've been gaming as far as I can remember, a story I'm sure has been told by many, I started with the Atari2600 and moved up from there. Throughout the years I've slowly been building a collection, and about 5-6 years ago I started to take that collecting a little more seriously. I make weekly rounds to all of the Pawnshops in town, as well as working at one myself (a cleaner, nicer buy/sell used goods place though, try not to picture the grimy pawnshop atmosphere). I enjoy the thrill of the hunt so I very rarely purchase from online sources unless it is something I simply must have right now or I happen to come by it at a fair price.

After just completing a recount of all my games (sans my Atari2600 because I haven't taken the time to move them out of where they are to count them) I'm sitting at 454 games. I pride myself on my collection attempting to own only the most interesting of games and the rarest of titles. Although truth be told it's only within the last year that I began looking at rarity as a serious aspect of my collection.

I enjoy gaming and collecting equally and don't plan on stopping any time soon. Although my collection is currently stuffed into a single shelf and a few cases where they are not really showcased, but organized nonetheless, I hope to expand someday into a room/library of books and games. It will indeed be glorious.

Hey everyone. My name is Ross, and I'm from Ohio. I'd heard about this place for years through different collecting sites, but I never really checked it out. Finally the other weekend at CCAG, a few of your members convinced me that I should stop in.

Anyway, I mainly collect for the NES (CIBs only, games and accessories), but I branched off a bit at CCAG and picked up a SNES and a Genesis with a few games for each. I can tell I'm in trouble with how much fun I'm having with SMW.

Hi everyone, I'm a member of a couple different forums and I was told that this was a pretty good forum to be a part of, so i figured i'd check it out. So, here I am. I'm Uncle Tusk.

I'm strictly and NES collector. I collect CIB games, i'm nearly complete. I have about 90 things left to get, either a box, manual, or cart. Im probably about 5 carts off from complete. SE is one of them. So, it might be a while before I get that one. haha.

Hey everyone,
My name is Andrew and I was born and live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on the East Coast of Canada. I'm 25 years old and have been playing games since I got my first system, the NES, 20 years ago. I didn't start seriously collecting until about 2 years ago when I found Kid Icarus (a game I had always wanted) for 99 cents at Value Village. That was all the motivation I needed there to know that cheap great games are out there if you look.

I started collecting NES games exclusively for a few months but quickly branched out to SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, PS2 and original Game Boy. I have a few games for Game Cube, Game Boy Advance, Atari, and PS1. When I found out that Contra 4 existed and was on some system called the DS, I immediately looked into it and bought both. Since then I am much more aware of the current seventh generation systems but am unquestionably a retro gamer at heart. My collection is around 700 games across 14 platforms with about half going to the NES, which just went up to 341 yesterday with the addition of puzznic.

I have been a student forever it seems. I graduated with my biology degree from Dalhousie a couple years ago but wasn't doing much. Now I'm back in school trying to get into pharmacy. Hopefully that way I will be able to make enough money to support one of my costly obsessions including collecting games. I also collect old rock and jazz LP's. I like poker and basketball and work at the museum of natural history. Ok I've gone on far too long. Hey all, glad to be on DP.

Andrew

Hi, this looks like a great site.I am 19 and my name is scott. My nick on most forums is lazyhoboguy. It is also my psn. I am currently living and going to college in San Francisco. I was asking someone a good place to find nes games and was referenced here. Some of my favorite games are worms armageddon on pc (awesome online still), civilization 3, and timesplitters future perfect. Im not really sure if I am a collector. I just love video games and buy games and consoles to play them and to enjoy the experience. I currently own a game boy, game boy advance (and gbasp), nes, nintendo 64, gamecube, playstation 2, playstation 3, and had an xbox but it was stolen. In "real life" I am basically just trying to keep up with my classes and find time for video games. I was just a casual gamer to about last year. I have become very into video games and it is my main hobby now. In this last year alone I have bought a gamecube, gbasp, and nes. Most of game collection was also purchased this year. I plan to buy many older consoles in the future as well. If any of you have gamespot accounts here is mine http://www.gamespot.com/users/lazyhoboguy/?tag=userpanel;profile, you can check out my game collection on there as well

Hi, I just signed up for this website recently because my love for classic games was recently reignited. Over the summer I converted a dead arcade cabinet into a Mame machine, but when I had to go back to school I couldn't take it with me (I also built a PS3-compatible custom arcade stick for new fighting games and portability). About a month ago I discovered the Angry Video Game Nerd, and his videos really overwhelmed me with nostalgia to the point where I had to get out my old systems and pick up some new games. Now, I am obsessed with the oldies again.

My favorite classic system is the SNES, followed by NES and Sega Genesis (which are more or less tied). I'm also an arcade gaming enthusiast, and my favorite genres are action, adventure, and fighting (although my butt gets kicked on a regular basis). My favorite game series is Metroid, followed by Resident Evil, Metal Gear, and the Legend of Zelda. I've also taken an interest recently in the concept of reproduction cartridges, since there are a lot of great games that I never got to play because they are either A) extremely rare, B) were never released in the US, or C) never saw commercial release. I'm not technically proficient (or well funded) enough to make my own, but I can certainly appreciate the people who can and are willing to offer their services to other fans.

These are the systems I own:

NES
Super Nintendo
Sega Genesis
Game Gear
Nintendo 64
Gameboy Color
Sega Dreamcast
Gameboy Advance
Gamecube
Playstation 2
Playstation 3

I am currently a bit curious about picking up the Sega Master System, Sega CD, and Sega Saturn at some point if I can get them at a good price (it might be a while though, since I have no job and am living on ramen noodles and student loans). They didn't have a lot of good games, but like the Dreamcast there were some solid Gems to be found. Basically, I love a good game, whether it just came out or is 20 years old.

I'm Tommy. I'm from Ann Arbor, MI but my family is in Jersey right now and I currently go to school in Kentucky. I found this place on accident when I did a search through Google awhile back, but I just signed up a couple days ago.

My favorite games are Gunstar, Pokemon: Blue, Bangai-O, Metroid Fusion, Super Smash Bros., Lightening Force, and the list pretty much continues w/ a whole bunch of Treasure games, shooters, and sidescrollers (run 'n' guns, platformers, etc.).

I collect for almost every system but I keep an eye out for Saturn and Dreamcast games especially. My real interest is in the hardware though because I never really got into collecting games that I didn't want to play. Even the super rare ones, unless I was gonna sell it for more than I'd pay. I love stuff like the Powerglove and the Virtual Boy, but I'm a bit of a connoisseur of arcade sticks.

Other than gaming I like to go offroading, watching dragraces, playing guitar, and a bunch of other cliches.

Feel free to message me or whatever, I look forward to posting and writing reviews here.

Hello, my name is Cameron and I work for a regional used and new video game and Disc Golf retailer called Rock 30 Games in Bismarck, ND. Right now I am doing online sales for them.

I've always been interested in gaming since I got a SNES console when I was 4 (1994). Right now I own an NES, SNES, N64, GCN, Wii, Game Boy Pocket, GBC, GBA, DS Lite, PS1, PS2, and Xbox. I enjoy collecting NES, SNES, and PS1 games especially, but will pick up collectible games for other systems if I find them for cheap! As for what games I play, I'm mostly into SNES games and PS1 RPGs, but I do play a wide variety of games for any of the systems I own.

Outside of collecting games, I also enjoy disc golf. It's nice when the company you work for sells both types of items that you like!

Hello, my name is Yannick, I'm a 25 y.o. french retrogamer from Paris.
My first videogames were game&watch in 1985, my first console was a nes with R.O.B and grey zapper for christmas ... in 1988 or 1989 ? (omg it's the 20 years of my nes) Few years later "Papa Noël" bring me a Megadrive. Then I've bought Super Nintendo, gx-4000, game-gear, mega-cd, 32X, psx, gameboy pocket, dreamcast, twin famicom, master-system, gamecube, gba, gba sp, ds, psp, and that all for the moment. (but a wii should come soon).

Now I have near 250 nes games, 150 megadrive (32X, cd) games and 50 nintendo game & watch. Between 20-50 games for each other systems (but I don't collect them)
I've sold my master-system, super nintendo and twin famicom.

I need more nintendo nes games

I'm Luis and I'm 24 years old. I'm a business major that has been collecting classic gaming for 3 years. I collect pretty much anything from any brand especially Famicom! I think the Famicom is a unique console. I especialize in pirate famicom carts which I find some to be unique. I have a decent collection from just collecting for three years which include over 400 Famicom games and 100 pirate games, Gameboy games, SNES around 300, and much much more. The reason I do this is because I want to accomplish something great with my life and leaving such a collecting to my kids although I don't have any but in the future I will is something great. Anyways, message me if you want to talk Famicom!! HAHAHAHHA AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I hope to hang around here for a while!

Hiya, my names David and I'm 16. I'm from Alberta, Canada. I found the forums when i was looking for game room pictures and found the godly room of doom section. I'm into new games and older stuff, though I don't have much of a collection yet. I'd like to collect pretty well everything but i think i will work a bunch on the Super Nintendo the most for now. I wanted to start collecting ever since i saw people with their massive collections, I find a way to enjoy almost any video game so i hope to get a collection half as good as all the ones out there.

Hello Everybody,

My name is Aaron, I am Italian and I will stay in the US for one year (maybe two). I am attending a Master in Laws in San Francisco.

I am 34 years old and I played with almost all systems during my life, starting with the Commodor Vic 20 and lasting with X Box 360 and Wii.

I have to admit that I don't really like the new systems and I am in love with the old ones.

Given that I don't have much money this year (I have to pay the tuition for the Master), I wanted to buy a videogame system here in the US and I was wondering which system I should have chosen.

Well, yesterday I went to the great Icarus Games in Berkeley and I bought a fantastic old NES system with four games:

Super Mario 3
Dr. Mario
Chip & Dale
RC...(I don't remember the name)

I am brand new in videogame collection. I always played with my videogames without any collection goal :-)

I am a comic book collector, thus I know what collecting items is about and I am really enjoying my new passion. I want to learn, to know, to share info with you and to have fun!

Many thanks!

Aaron

P.S. Any suggestion on places where I can find old games stuff here in SF or Berkeley is very much appreciated :-)

Name's Taso and I'm from NJ

My friend Dave told me bout this place so I came to check it out and found it is everything a gamer could ask for

Favorite games would have to be Wild arms series until Wild arms 4 etc. and really any good RPG out there

Currently I collect PS2, PSone, Xbox, GC,Genesis, Dreamcast, Sega CD, SNES, and NES (not looking for completion just for a couple rare abd good ones

In real life I'm just a student who likes gaming to a hardcore level

Other things about me is that I HATE (with a passion) Xbox live sqeakers and kids who can't handle it mature or who take it too far.

Hello all,
I'm new here (yes a noob), but I've been browsing here for a while now and I thought I'd take the dive into this forum, it looks very cool.

Just a quick bit about myself, my name's Sel (short for something else, but that will come later), I'm from Leicester and I've been a gamer for around 22 years now. I still love my retro (retro, according to me that is!) games and machines and I'm still in the process of building my collection up. Just on the lookout for some stuff whilst I'm selling some Jap games on the old eBay to fund my habit ; )

My mates think I'm a bit bonkers (yep) for still playing games to this day but sod 'em. I enjoy it!

I've probably missed a load of bits out, but I've got a lot of my stuff up in the attic in storage at the mo as I've bought the house off my parents (they've moved abroad) and I'm going to convert thier old room into a fully fledged games room (the arcade cab can stay in the garage as it doesn't even fit into the house!

I've been into gaming for years, I just love playing games, it would be my ultimate dream to be a games tester but alas, I'm working as a CCTV engineer.

Anyway, glad to be here and if you've got any questions, just fire away!

Hello,

I am Jim. I am getting back into collecting after a very long hiatus. My main focus is NES games. So far I a found a few gems. Now that I am back to my old habits I am sure I will be around here quite a bit.

Hi,

My name is Romain, I'm 23 and I live in France. It's not my first time here as I was a member a few years ago but forgot my username/password.

I collect video games and consoles, I have about 40 systems and more than 400 games. I am also a BIG Shenmue fan.

I work in the gaming press (it was one of my childhood dreams) as the owner/editor in chief of a brand new videos games website. On it we talk about recent games but we also pay tribute to games of the past by doing retrogaming shows and uploading high quality videos of old games (on every system). The site is located as http://www.jv247.com

I also have to mention that two of my goals are to get my hands on a playable Saturn version of Shenmue and on a working Ultra 64 (I actually think that I made a topic about the Ultra 64 during my first stint here).

That's it for now, I'm looking forward to talking with you all.

Hey, DP!

all your base are belong to nashville, tn.
i'm into nes,snes,famicom,sfc,ngpc,dc currently.
active collecting most all of these, albeit passively for the neo-pocket and dreamcast.
im in for 140 snes games
9 sfc games
70+ nes games
24 dc
11 ngpc
4 famicom
14 Nintendo DS/GBA

Im into beat-em-ups, obscure jp platformers, party games, different and interesting rpg's and strategy (woot! fire emblem, advance wars etc.)

and have been collecting randomly for 2 years now. I love the fact that I can get all of the games that I so badly wanted in the late 80's and early 90's on the cheap, since price was the only reason keeping my mom from getting me many titles when i was little. talk about 'long overdue'.
hope to have fun, learn some things and hopefully get more out of the hobby in general by sharing with you guys!

happy holidays!

First of all I would just like to say I've been searching for a GOOD retro gaming forum for months, and I stumbled upon this one FINALLY last night. I'm very impressed with the layout and the maturity level of the members here, so I decided to join.

I'm only 20 years old, but I grew up in the 90's and had the luxury of playing the SNES and Genesis classics we all know and love; I'm obsessed with 16-bit gaming! My collection isn't very large but I'm getting into collecting more and more carts; an awesome retro gaming store just opened about 20 mins down the road from me and they have everything.

I love games like The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania; all the classics that made Nintendo so great. At the same time, I play gems like "Toe Jam and Earl Panic On Funkotron" for the Genesis (what I consider THE best Genesis title, and possibly the best platformer ever :) ), but I hope to learn a lot here! My thirst for all things classic gaming must be quenched, and this looks like the place to do so!

Again, awesome site dudes and thank you for supplying me with such awesome info!

Names Steven, live in Wayne New Jersey. Been gaming since mid to late 80's. Most of my collection consist of PC games but my console collection is quite nice. Been to the store a few times and to a few of those Nava Meetings. Great place, and nice to have a few arcades to play. Was in there earlier but they were shooting that movie "I assume it is" again. So really couldn't play on the arcades "seemed like an A-hole move to do". Will be around and hope to see some games I don't own yet show up in the store.

Helo Byron here :)

Gaming since the early 80's. My main focus these days is my PC Engine/Turbo Grafx, PSP, and DS. Next year begins my foray into Neo Geo MVS, andFamicom/FDS. Main genres are rpg's, and shumps (though not that great at em) ;) . Slowly rebuilding my Dreamcast, andSaturn collections with a much heavier lean on imports (as well as more inports for all my systems).

Hello,

It is my first post on that forums and hopefully not the last! :)

- Who you are
I'm Youki , 36 year old. I'm the creator of AtomicFe Front End. I love coding , i created this FE , but also games (not yet released) and i decided now to do some archeo-coding , to release a dream i have since i'm young : "Produce my own video game cartridge".

- Where you live
In France, on the French Riviera somewhere between Monaco and Cannes

- How you found the forums
I was looking information on Colecovision development, and i found post of newcoleco.

- What your favorite games are
Human Canon ball on Atari VCS
Donkey Kong all systems
Populous (Atari St)
Metal Slug (Arcade)
Sega Rally (Arcade)
Ghost n Goblins (C64)
The list would be too long in fact...

- What systems you collect for
All , i own about 200 hundres old computer and console

- What you do in "real life"
Computer software development.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I started to collect while the machines was not yet collector, but just "old".
I have always been facinated by the "portage" of game from one machine to another. I like see the difference and what people does to workaround some plateform limitation. By this fact, i have been interrested of having other machine to see how games looks like. My first machine i got just to "collect" was an Oric Atmos (at this time i had a C64 and a PC XT).

To conclude, my favorites machines are :
Colecovision, Commodore 64, Atari 800XL, Dreamcast .

okay, let's see here, this is my first post, so I guess I'll answer some of the recommended questions:

- Who you are

My full name is Johnny Dorel Bud

- Where you live

I'm from the Atlanta area, in the state of Georgia obviously. Actually, a city just outside of Atlanta called Norcross.

- How you found the forums

I've been trying to find a decent rarity/price guide for all different kinds of games on Google for months now, and I finally found it!

- What your favorite games are

I love older games, but not very old, mainly SNES and N64. Donkey Kong Country is my favorite game ever.

- What systems you collect for

All systems, but mostly for the ones I own, obviously. My favorite to collect for would be SNES, but my largest collection is NES.

- What you do in "real life"

I'll be going to Georgia State University as of 2009

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I got my first system, the SNES, when I was about 5 or 6. Been buying games and such for all my systems ever since, but I don't think I really got into collecting till maybe I was 12 or 13. I bought a used NES, and I discovered you could actually buy the games real cheap at thrift stores.

I guess that's about it for now.

DJTrueStory
12-26-2008, 03:19 PM
Hey everyone, I'm DJ True Story
Aka Adam from California

I actually found these forums because I was thinking if something like this didn't exist, it should, and I'd have to start it. But it would seem someone has already done that... huge load off my back XD

As far as favorite games go... where to begin... Oddly enough the game that got me hooked was a game that was on... practically every system (Though I had it for Super Nintendo) called Out of This World (aka Another World) Before this game I liked video games, The mario bro games rock (I'm a huge fan of 1+2 (even though i guess technically it should have never been a mario game, i don't mind, i actually like it) + 3 + world + world 2 + 64 for that matter... even though I've jumped a bit into the future and probbably stopped making since) the zelda games were cool, Spot, Cool Spot, Alterd Beast, Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3, Bust a Move, megaman soccer, megaman 1-6, Michael Jordon: Chaos in the Windy City (don't you judge me XD), Mario Kart, Biker Mice from Mars, The teenage muntant ninja turtle games for NES, Metal Marines, Super Mario RPG, ... you know what, you can't really get me started on my favorite games without getting a long long list, but what stoped my like of video games and started my love/collecting would have to be Out of This World... it's elegance and beauty mixed with challenging unique gameplay, the entire thing made by virtually one man... it's amazing.. Later games like Ocarina of Time and FFVII (as cliche as that is) made me <3 games for life. *cough*San Francisco Rush: 2049 4 dreamcast + Burnout: Revenge for 360*cough*

As far as systems I collect for, the main ones would have to be Super Nintendo (as my game count is around 200 for it, about 30 boxed, 5 sealed, my rarest SNES game is my copy of Star Fox: Super Weekend). After that is my NES that i have about 100 games for, only about 10 boxed, and a VGA 80 Sealed Final Fantasy, which is probbably the gem of that collection overall (although I'm currently playing through MC Kids, so that one is pretty treasured right now too, in a completely different way) After that would either be my atari or genesis collections (about 50 games each, athough I'd have to say the genesis wins because about 30 of the 50 have boxes/manuals)

As for real life, I'm a full time med student. I'm 21 years old and on my way to become a Psychiatrist MD. I want to work for a hospital, be the Psychiatrist on staff, meet/help people, get a doctors salary but never have to preform a single operation, just talk to people and try to be understanding... But med school is very stressful, and video games have always been my escape. My favorite games are co-op games, I was an only child of a single parent, living in a small ass town, so playing thru video games with someone else has always been kinda a rarity to me. My favorite Co-op games I've played through are Final Fantasy: Crystal Cronicles (with everyone having GBAs and 4 people playing through, that game is amazing) and also Army of Two... loved that game.

That's about it, I'm an open book. There's nobody else like me in my town, nobody else that collects old games or still plays them, I live in a forrest/elderly community small town... so nobody collects video games, although now and again someone will throw out a box of old games for 10 bucks at a yard sale, and I'm the only one buying... but I'm glad there's someone else like me. I always just did it... me and my mom lived in a small house and we didn't have much for money, so when things like the N64 came out, I got really excited, not because I was getting an N64, but because the neighbor kids would be throwing their super nintendo games away for nickles and dimes. I ended up with everyones games, got the money from mowing their parents lawns XD. And in one way or another I've basically been doing the same thing ever since. I currently going through a major change in the way I collect though, I used to just be into carts... but after seeing so many collections online I've discovered I really like the boxes/artwork/posters. So I'm going to step up my game and start to collect boxed games, probbably sell off my unboxed games to make profit to do so. That's it for me, just basically glad to be here :)

Hi guys, I'm Zach from Nebraska.

I've been gaming since I was young, the NES came out when I was 2 though I didn't start playing until about 4 years after that. I've been interested in starting a collection for a while now and I recently found out about Digital Press by watching some of the videos on Retroware TV, so my brother and I both decided to begin collections. Currently we're both collecting classic Game Boy games and I'll also be doing the Neo Geo Pocket, as I'm a huge SNK fan.

I'm Mike. I found this site while searching for ways to properly catalog my collection. I'm 28 and from the Boston area, I'm a musician and I spend most of the year on tour. I've been a fan of video games my whole life, but only a true collector the past few years.

I collect for just about any system, but lately I've been focusing on 32x and Saturn. I have a fondness for the PS1/Jaguar/3DO generation of gaming, but my first system was Intellivison and I appreciate all games.

Some of my favorites:
(in no particular order)
Diablo 1 & 2
the Final Fantasy series
Rygar (NES)
Aliens Vs. Predator 2 (PC)
the Castlevania series

...and many more.

I'm here to share and gain knowledge of archaic and current games and systems. Happy to join a forum of like-minded people!

I'm Sean, a food scientist from California.

I collect and write about old video games, but I have a particular fondness for the bad ones - you know, the video games that are so awful you can't help but laugh at how bad they are.

Some of my favorite games (which are actually good) are:

Final Fantasy Legend I, II and III for the Game Boy

Secret of Mana / Seiken Densetsu 3 for the SNES
Final Fantasy 6 for the SNES

Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSX

Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones for the GBA

I'm here to find out more about awful retro games so that I can write about them. But I'm also hoping to connect with a group of gamers who can see everything that's great about retrogaming. Cheers!

I have been gaming since I was about 5-ish and I can blame my bro for getting me into it and ruining my life ROFL j/k. I love gaming and I have pretty much done it all my life. I am getting back into collecting along with my bro, I am going to start rounding up all of the classic gameboy games. I am going to keep this short and I look forward to interacting with everyone on here. Ohh and my favorite game is Super Metroid. Its the one game I can remember most from my childhood and and beaten the most times.

Hello all, my name is Alex from Ontario.

I started gaming at about age five when I received my NES as a christmas present. From that point on I've been hooked and now that I'm done college it's time to stock up on games :D went from NES > SNES > N64 > PC and now back to the NES and SNES again.

My favourite games being Star Fox, Super Mario World and Rock 'n Roll Racing.

I found this forum when trying to find reviews of the Retro Duo console. (I have the orginals of course)

Phyeir
01-02-2009, 06:01 AM
Hello all,
I go by Phyeir for anything that I do online (well, for game playing). I've been collecting for about 4 years now and playing video games basically for longer than I can remember. My first memory is actually of playing Atari 2600 Pac-Man with my father at the age of 3.

So far, I'm at about 22 systems and 930 games and counting. As said earlier, I've only been collecting seriously for about 4 years now. I've loved video games my entire life, but my parents were never big fans of video games (they were in that whole video games are evil group of parents) but they broke down and go me an SNES years ago, which I still have. That was the only system I had until Gamecube (besides portables) and I'm basically playing catch up for all of the things that I've wanted to play for all those years.

As a collector, I'd call my collection a playing collection. What that means to me is that I'm only really interested in games that I'd actually take the time to sit and play. If not, I'm pretty much going to skip over it. I am starting to get into the acquisition of rarer titles, but haven't taken any steps towards that (mortgage, marriage, and student loans will slow the progress down fast).

For this year, I'm looking to make huge gains on 8-32bit generation, with the largest emphasis on SNES. I only have 45 games for the system and even though that includes games like Megaman X-X3, DKC 1-3, Secret of Mana & Evermore and some other highly desired games, there are many MANY more that I don't have and am looking forward to getting ahold of.

I'm Marcos, I'm 16 and I live in Portugal. I found the forums by googling 'collecting videogames', because I wanted to get some tips. My favourite games of all time are the MGS series, the Ratchet & Clank series, the God of War series and Resident Evil 4. Now I collect for PS2 and PS3. In "real life" I'm a student. I didn't really strated collecting, I just have games that I've been buying along the years (close to 100). A couple of months ago I made my first investment on my collection by buying a Master System II and a Mega Drive II (my second one, the other one is broken :S). I plan of starting to buy more things when I start working this Summer.

If you want to chat with me just send me a PM. See you on the forums!

Hello everyone,

I'm a college student going for an English major and I live in northern New Jersey so I stop by DP fairly often. My first system was the NES and I've been playing video games since a little before I was 2. My collection is currently up to about 700 games (I haven't counted in a while though so that's a fairly rough estimate) and I play pretty much anything except sport games and the majority of racing games, but my favorite type of games are RPG's. I don't have a particularly favorite system, but I would have to say if I had to choose I would pick either the NES or the SNES (the former for the wide variety of truly difficult and unique games, the latter for having many of my favorite RPG's). I mostly collect games to play them for fun, but my main quirk in terms of collecting is I like to try to find games that are very weird (such as Stretch Panic) and games that are very bad (for example, Shadow Madness). The main qualities I look for in games are they have to either be very challenging (I hate games that hold your hand the whole way through) or are very unique (the Katamari series comes to mind); a strong story is also something I look for, but only in RPG's. I would have to say that one of the stupidest things I have ever done was when I was like every other easily excitable little kid who knew nothing about rarity (and certainly not about thinking things through) I sold nearly 100 NES games all at once for something like $2 each (often less) for a shiny new N64; thankfully I have tracked down and gotten back the vast majority of them and don't plan to let them go again anytime soon.

I don't have a particular favorite game for most systems, but for anyone interested here's a quick list of the games I'm sure are my favorite on their respective systems:
SNES: Final Fantasy 6 (also my favorite game overall)
Gamecube/Wii: their respective Smash Bros. games
N64: Mischief Makers
Genesis: another amazing Treasure game, Gunstar Heroes
Xbox: Panzer Dragoon Orta
360: Lost Odyssey
Gameboy (original): Dragon Warrior/Quest Monsters 2
NES: this is pretty close since there are so many good games on the NES and I know the game is a Megaman clone but I have to go with Bucky O'Hare

To put things in a much more condensed form: I like collecting and playing a wide variety of games for both old and new systems and have been a gamer for pretty much my entire life. Also, I tend to write very long and wordy posts on forums fairly often, so sorry in advance to anyone that reads those in their entirety.

I purchased a Genesis console last year after remembering all the great child hood memories that I had playing games on these legacy systems. Well, I went on a buying frenzy and now I own a Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Snes, and a DS (GBA). I'm having great times finding good deals on classic games. My wife and I also tend to have more fun playing these old games than we do playing my Xbox 360 and PS3.

My other post is extremely old and inaccurate. I dunno what I was thinking. Metal? I freakin hate metal. Must have had my genres confused.

Anyway, I'm Nirvana. My real name is Lyle. I'm a college student, and I'm working real hard for the future just like all of you guys ^_^ Hopefully.

Video games, you ask? I grew up on RPGs. It was crazy. When I was 5, my brother enabled for two players in Final Fantasy III on the SNES (technically FFVI). I would be Edgar and Cyan. Oh so fun. But when I hit high school, my love for RPGs seemed to disappear. I got more into sports games and mainstream games, like NFL 2k5 and Halo. I think this was because I was really developing as a human being in general. I learned how to play guitar and finally put my natural speed to use as I played football and joined track.

Recently, I got back into RPGs as I am currently going through the Legend of Dragoon.

When I came to this forum, I noticed everyone was extremely mature as opposed to other message boards. There are NEVER any memes said by anyone. It's insane. And I love it.

- What systems do you collect for?
My dream is to one day have a house with dedicated game room with the old systems and games I used to enjoy as a kid, and discover and play systems and games I didn't have that I wanted back then and can now afford since I'm now all growed up with a job and stuff, heh. I also want a Neo MVS or candy cab, a Galaga/Pac-Man cocktail table, and an 80's USA. vs. Russia "bubble-dome" style hockey table like they had at my local Showbiz Pizza when I was little.

- What you do in "real life"?
As far as work goes, I.T., call center, tech support, if it has to do with computer and technology, I probably do it, or have done it. Other hobbies include going to movies and concerts, comics, collecting toys and action figures, slowly build up my DVD and Laserdisc collection, reading and spending time and playing games with my soon to be wife.

- What got you into collecting?
I guess it started back in 2001. I got one my first "real jobs" and was making decent money for the time, and I was reading a Penny Arcade comic where they referenced the Neo-Geo. I remembered how much I used to love playing games like Fatal Fury and Samurai Showdown at the arcade, and that there was a place I used to go to with a friend that rented out AES consoles and games. So I started doing research on the Neo online to see how much AES systems and games were then, and saw that they were affordable (except for the super rare ones of course). I found the Neo-Geo.com site, became a member, met some people, and in a couple of weeks, I had a Neo AES and KoF2000, SS2, SS3, 3 Count Bout, and the rest is history. Now I'm trying to start on a Sega collection, mainly Genesis, CD, 32X, Saturn and imports, and Dreamcast and imports. I also have a 360 currently RRODed, and a Wii, which my wife and I play more VC games than Wii games on, lol.

Drusilla
01-19-2009, 09:51 PM
Hi everyone out there.

I'm Drusilla from ST-Hubert, Quebec, Canada better known as frog land.
I am also female of the species, is there lots of us out there?

My boyfriend undead455 has sucked me into gaming and now to this very cool and huge website.

My favorite games so far are, all the guitar hero's, rock bands, any version of tetris out there and the highly addictive rainbow colored pinatas. I think i like them cause they are close to pony's.

I don't have any systems myself because they all belong to undead455, i am allowed to play but not touch. LOL I still say it is wrong because i have given him a lot of those systems as presents. I shouldn't complain because i am supporting his habit and i know full well the effects of my actions.

In the real life world (which is not as fun as the gamer or pony world) i proofread orders for a promotional company. We sell all kinds of pens, pencils, clocks, picture frames and stuff for the office. You know those promotional items given out at E3, my work makes those.

My love of life is collecting my little pony's and i was thrilled to find out and buy the pony game for the ds. Undead455 just loves it when my pony's filter into his video game collection.

Together we have this cool website www.undead455.com where you can see a million pictures of my pony collection and his video game collection.

The newest addition to our family is a little boy named Phoenix Aka Moo. I am sure he will grow up never wanting a video game in his life. The only question is who will get to play first? I'm sure my boyfriends and sons Christmas list will have the same stuff listed on it.

I hope to meet new people on here and learn some things about games, i cant help but play video games now.

I have been assimilated.

Game Freak
01-20-2009, 01:13 AM
Hello, I am Game Freak. I can't tell you my real name. It would be too dangerous. The Controllers are everywhere. Everywhere. And if they knew my real name, they could find me and my friends, and then...well, let's just say I don't want them to find me. What they do to people who resist them is too horrible to think about.
I won't even tell you where I live. You'll just have to trust me that it is a real place, a real town.
It may even be your town.
I'm writting this all down so that more people will learn the truth. I found these forums through my friends VACRMH, SnowKitty, and JamesF over at RFGeneration. I am 15 years old, and I greatly enjoy Super Nintendo games. Now I know what you're thinking ."Oh my god he's such a poser he should be playing XBAWKS." You know what? I hate Xbox. I dont have one. I dont plan on getting one, unless I must to get Resident Evil 5. I am not a fanboy either. I grew up on a Super Nintendo throughout my childhood and got a game i could call my own in 1998 when i got pokemon. Then started the pokemon craze. I collect pokemon stuff (From the first generation at least) and my videos can be found below. I got a PS2 in 2001. I played it for hours and hours. Dark Cloud, ICO, Jak and Daxter, MetropolisMania. All great games. I havent been able to find much time recently though with high school and what not. I do however, still buy many many games at yard sales, garage sales, flea markets, and the like. I currently have 627 video games. I have a Microsoft Access database of them, if anyone would like to look through my collection.

I have an Atari 2600, two TRS-80 CoCo 2s (16k and 64k), an Atari 5200, three NESes, two Genesis, a SNES, a PlayStation, an N64, a PSOne, two PS2s (one's the family's) two gamecubes, and two Wiis (one's the family's.) I also have a Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, four game boy colors, two GBAs, three GBA SPs, a Nintendo DS, and 6 Game Boy Micros (long story short, I took advantage of a pricing error, and plan to sell them on eBay eventually....)

I collect for SNES, and occasionally NES. My favorite games are SNES games, NES games, Mario games, PS2 games, and the Zelda series, which I completed US Nintendo releases of, with the exception of some rereleases. I don't read many books, but you can probably tell from the content of this post what I do read. In "real life" I'm a student, and I also write music for a game my school is working on. I have also been writing a book of my own, but it's going to be a long time before its finished. I also play video game songs on the piano, currently working on improving the performance of The Zelda Theme.

I hope to be around in the future to chat. Thanks for listening. feel free to send welcome PMs ^_^

Oh, by the way, I love 80s music and movies, and really like the music of Daft Punk and Michael Jackson.

Hello,

I'm Eduardo, from São Paulo, Brazil. I've found digitpress.com in a link at an ebay auction (the seller said his item was S7 and to check it here).

I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Dragon Quest and Super Mario.

I don't consider myself a collector but I do have some uncommon stuff.

In "real life" I study Civil Engineering, I work with Finances in an international agroindustrial corporation and I'm also a kart driver.

Thanks for the attention!

My name is mobiusclimber... I know a couple people on here from risingstuff and gametz and various places. I'm not quite sure what drove me to sign up here... being an online and Craigslist seller, as well as an avid collector, I have my share of beefs w/ the prices listed in the online rarity guide. But I DID register and here I am.

Soooo... let's see....

Favorite Games:
Phantasy Star series - I'm going to be cheating a lot and list series when applicable, and in this case it is since I like every single game in the series. III is my least favorite and IV is my most favorite, cliched opinion, I know but there's good reason it's so cliched.
Silent Hill 1 & 2 - Great, mature storylines and generally creepy atmosphere would be why I love these two games. Any game that can shock me as much as these two did earns a place in my cold, black heart.
Final Fantasy series - except for 8 and most of the spinoffs (barring FFT). My favorites are (in this order) FFVI, FFVII, FFX. I particularly loved the sequence with Cid in FFVI, which is why I always recommend the SNES/Sufami version of this game over the remakes. THEY REMOVED THE FAST MOVING FISH!!! I mean I know what happens here when you give him the slow ones is the canon storyline, but by making it the player's decision, the game makes you feel like it's YOUR FAULT. That's pretty damn important.
Suikoden I, II, III - because I haven't played the others yet, mostly.
Shadow Hearts I & II - Koudelka comes so close to being included, but there's just too many flaws. I like the first SH over the second, and think Koudelka had the best compact story... such a shame the gameplay wasn't better.
Ico - This is what 3D Zelda should have been like!
Legend of Zelda, LoZ Link to the Past & LoZ Link's Awakening - Haven't had as much fun w/ the other ones that I've played, but these are all ace.
Splatterhouse series - Saw the first one when I was a wee youngun and had to have the sequels (by the time my family was looking to buy a console, the TG16 was deader than General Falicimo Francisco Franco). I have to say tho, I'm not looking forward to the resurrection of this series. Definitely looks like one corpse that shouldn't have become zombiefied.

... I should stop now, I could go on for days.

What systems do I collect for? A simpler question to answer would be, what do I collect? I mainly collect RPGs with a smaller sprinkling of games from other genres that have just held my interest for longer than five minutes. And console only. What this means is that I do not own an Atari, Collecovision or the like and don't plan to. Everything from the NES on up is fair game. The mostly-RPGs rule is why I'm not too interested in Neo-Geo (tho I'd love a cab) or Jaguar, or stuff like that.

So that's it, since this is way too long as it is. If you read all that... sorry.

Hello everyone!
I'm nathan, 38, tattoo artist in Durham NC. I've been gaming since Pong (radio shack knock-off) in the 70's and I am just getting back into collecting.
I had a massive collection that I sold off when I made a cross country move (Michigan to North Carolina). You'd be surprised at the logistics of moving thousands of games, piles of consoles and untold amounts of gaming parephenalia... it really adds up fast.
I have owned every system (complete with variants) except two. NeoGeo and Fairchild. This basically comes down to the fact that I avoid armchair collecting and I have never found either in the wild (I've seen NeoGeos for crazy money, but I've never laid eyes on a Fairchild Channel f). I love the hunt and every piece of gaming history that I have owned has come from haunting thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales etc.
I picked up a couple NES consoles recently solely due to the fact that I found some rare-ish games that I couldn't pass up...I will only buy games if I have the matching console. It's called "justifying". I then bought an Atari Junior (which is also on the can't pass up list) and a pile of carts...some more Nintendo, more Atari... the fever has taken hold.
I found this site linked on Topless Robot in reference to a certain NES prototype hoax...Great stuff, had to get in on the fun.
Some other pertinent facts about me: I have an 11 year old son that I carefully bred and trained to hone his gaming abilities and now he has powers greater than I could have imagined.
I also collect vintage toys (Gi Joe, Mego, Johnny West and some oddball foreign stuff). I also like to post long winded and verbose replies on internet message boards.;)

Hello Everyone,

My name is Brent. I am a 27 year old Programmer in Sudbury Ontario, Canada. I found these forums while doing research about online gaming on consoles before the PS3 and Xbox 360. My favorite games of all time has to be Maniac Mansion and Super Mario World. I don't have a collection per say, but I do still own a SNES and Colecovision that I still play from time to time. My main intrests lie in retro gaming accessories, specifically accessories that allowed consoles to communicate with each other or allowed remote connections from older consoles.

I would love a satellaview and I hope to be able to buy one in the next year.

I'm a Canadian. I speak Japanese and worked briefly as a translator so I mostly play Japanese games to stay sharp. They feel like less of a waste of time that way.

I went back to school a few years ago so most of my collection is in storage back at home but (somewhere) I have:
NES (Original and a knock-off famicon)
SNES
GB GBA GBASP
DS (Jap)
PSOne (Jap)
Ps2 (Jap and US)
PSP (Jap)
Xbox
Dreamcast
Game Gear
NeoGeo Pocket
Wonderswan Colour

I had a Japanese Saturn (one of the rare phillips ones) and a Japanese Gamecube but I got rid of them. I'm only really into stuff that I played (or wanted) when it was new.

Some of the highlights of my game collection are all the main Final Fantasy games, almost all of the Dragon Quests, nearly all the Marios, Downtown (Japanese River City Ransom), Ikaruga, most (all?) the square games for the WS, stacks of Japanese PS1 stuff. I've sold most of the pricey stuff I had, I'm more of a gamer than a collector. I just prefer the classics

- I'm SHERBO64, don't ask how that came to be, don't really remember.
- I live in Melbourne, Australia, so I import a lot of games to get them at the right time.
- My favourite games are probably the zelda and banjo series', but I've been entering a JRPG phase.
- Most of my games are for n64, but i have no real focus with collecting, anything that interests me I'll pick up. I don't go back to before snes though, I'm only seventeen so it doesn't really interest me, coming before my time, but maybe when i get a job and more money...
- Outside of my virtual worlds I'm a student in my final year of High School, so don't expect a great deal of activity until the end of the year when exams finish! :-D

Hey,

How is it going, I have been posting alot lately so figured I would introduce myself. Duo-R, I am an old school Turbografx / PC Engine fan (screename is of my favorite PCE console).

I have been a part of the Turbo community for a while, primarily I specialize in various mods. You can check my website here:

http://www.geocities.com/duo_r@sbcglobal.net

if you ever googled region modding or other mods for the Turbo, my name has probably popped up. I have the same username in various old school gaming forums out there.

I also have all 3 next gen systems currently on the market. Lately all the new systems don't get played very much since I have been doing alot of retrogaming (and modding).

Mods include region mods for most of the systems I listed above (old school), LED mods, and RGB mods. If you do some searches on here, I have posted a couple of the things I have done.

Some of the questions:

- Who you are - Duo------R
- Where you live - Norcal
- How you found the forums - Google searches
- What your favorite games are - TG-16/PCE
- What systems you collect for - SNES, Saturn, Genesis, TG-16/PCE
- What you do in "real life" - what I don't do in my fake life
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc. - Some of that info is listed above. 1st system was a Atari 2600.

My name is Andrew. I actually signed up awhile ago (Around the time of the classic Nerd/Captain S/Critic battle. I was there. I'm the chubby short guy in the glasses on the left when Doug walks in :-D) Been gaming since I was 5. Owned (and still do own) these systems:

Sega Master System (Not sure if I still have this)
SNES (Best of all time)
Sega Genesis (With a Master System converter)
N64
PSX (Which I neglected for the longest time until recently. I played FF VII for the first time last month...I'M 23! :embarrassed:)
Game.Com
Game Gear
Game Boy Color
Original Game Boy (Don't know if I still have this)
PS2 (Traded this for some SNES games)
Nintendo Wii (Gave this to my sister. I'm at college and I have a small dorm room.)
360
May get a PS3 in the future. Don't know.

I'm also autistic (Parents found out I had Asperger's when I was little.) Despite that, I was able to graduate with a Regents diploma and could have a Bachelor's in 2 years. Not bad for someone in my situation.

Hey every1, I'm from México, I've been a retrogamer for a while (since the NES appeared... but back then it wasn't called "retrogaming"), I actually knew about this site looking for "overlooked snes games". I just found it great to be part of a community of people who likes the same (or almost the same) stuff I'm into.
There are many games I'd call "my favourite ones", the list would be long, but I can say that I'm a big fan of the original mega man series, battletoads, zelda, star fox, etc... I'll post some of my collection later.
I consider myself a snes game collector, but I also collect NES, game boy, N64 & game cube games.
I used to play a lot, and I mean, A LOT of SNES games about 15 years ago, then, something made me stop, and here I am again, I guess I get nostalgic and I feel like I'm younger again, also, I think that games were much better back then, when, graphics weren't the most important deal. Games used to be much more creative, simple and addictive, you could beat 'em in just minutes, and have a great time.

- 2x Sega Genesis Model 2.

Hi guys, I'm Paul and I live in Southern California.

I found these forums when searching the web for feedback on the FC Mobile and now I read just about every post trying to get into the minds of retro and modern gamers.

My favorite games of all time are Duck Hunt, Earthbound and Street Fighter.

02-17-2009, 10:53 PM
hey, my name's maxi, 14 years old...seems I am kinda young for ths forum.

But I am a hardcore classic gamer. I was introduced to games by my mum at around 4 years old when we got the snes. From there i started to play the nes, and then the atari, and well....now i'm hoocked. My spelling is kinda terrible, but I hope I can be a great part of this site.

Well as i said, my names Maxi.

I live in the USA, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.

I actually found them while doing a search for line rider track codes. I found that there was a thread about it (very dissapointed that i found none) But I decided this looked like a cool place to stay for a while.

My favorite games would have to be Double dragon (nes) And the twisted metal series.

I don't for say collect anything for any system. I do go to alot of flee markets were I actually just bought about 50 nes games, and a new nes (my old one blew up while playing an intense 5 hours of who framed roger rabbit)

What i do in real life? Well i skate board, play games, and well.....go to middle school. I am in the 8th grade and am currently learning about graphic designs, and how to program. I play trombone in the band here, a drag really.

As i said before, not exactly collecting, but more just...enjoying. I started becuse of my mom, and still do it today. I sadly have no online play experience, as dial-up does not work well with being hocked up to anything.

Well, that's me in a nut shell. I hope to become a well liked member of this great community.

I've been collecting since I was thirteen (roughly six years), I already had a good foundation since I owned most of them growing up. I just have a deep love for retro gaming, the current stuff just dosent have the same soul the old games had.

Well, thats me! :D:band:ROFL

My name is Todd and I like to party. I live on the side of a mountain. It's about an hour outside of Knoxville, TN.

I found the forurms while I was looking up random information on old NES games.

My favorite games:
Arcade: Robotron 2084
Single Player: Disgaea 2
Two Player (PvP): Super Mario Kart
Two Player (Co-op): Contra
Multiplayer, one system: Team Buddies
Multiplayer, online: Team Fortress 2

I collect for several systems. I am the most serious about my NES collection, but I have pretty decent Super NES and Atari 5200 collections. I've got most mainstream systems. The collection I'd like to work on beefing up is my Sega Saturn collection, although games are very hard to find here for some reason.

I am a derelict in real life.

I played Atari before I could walk. I got a Nintendo when I was four I've been collecting games since. I got a headstart on the collecting bandwagon because I never had enough money for a Playstation growing up. (I didn't get one until the PS2 was out and Playstation prices dropped to almost nothing) But I could easily afford to pick up NES and SNES titles at the Pawn Shop for a few bucks each. That's really when I started getting serious about collecting.

- My name is Ben B
- I'm from Minneapolis, MN
- heard on some other games site post that DP was the place to go for retro gaming
- My favorite games are Super dodgeball, super metroid, pretty much all the zelda games, turtles in time, Contra, Mega man X and i know i lot of people are gonna hate on me for this but i can't deny world of warcraft ( char:chemdawg, server: winterhoof)
- the systems i collect for are mostly nintendo one's,mostly NES and SNES i really grew up on nintendo, loved sega too but nintendo just seemed to always hold a special place in my heart (lame i know lol)
- I'm a college student majoring in Human services
- Grew up on games, was a gamer until i got to highschool and learned about the wonders of drugs and sex and kinda just forgot about games, but as of recently when i was moving i found all my old games in some boxes remembered all the good and bad times i had playin these games, poped in a few games and fell in love with them again. i collect these games now to play them, not just to collect them, cause thats how this started. My collection didnt start as a collection, i just loved to play games, i quit for a while and come back to find i have a pretty decent collection in the making and didnt even know it. so im a noob to this retro game collecting, but noob with a pretty good start atleast.

Just thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is Kyle
I'm 19
I'm from Maine
I'm temporarily working at a group home in south coast Mass
In the process of going to school for film production

Interests:
Video games: I grew up playing Atari and NES but I enjoy playing everything up to the 360.
I'm currently collecting NES, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and 32x but will pick up anything that looks good.
Favorite games: Guardian Legend, Nightshade, Mega Man 6, and Dead Space just to name a few...

I'm a huge film nut that has a pathetic passion for trash cinema. My preferred areas of film are westerns(American & Italian), giallos, Tromaesque trash, and Japanese Yakuza & samurai flicks...

My favorite actors are Buster Keaton, Klaus Kinski, John Wayne, John Saxon,
Lee Marvin, Jack Elam, and Walter Brennen.
I play guitar mostly but I dabble in few other instruments occasionally.
I listen to everything but lean towards NWOBHM, Death, and black metal.
Favorite bands are King Diamond, Accept, Sigh, and Morbid Angel

I'm excited to join this friendly little community of game enthusiasts and would also love to talk to anyone who also enjoys some of my mentioned interests.

Ha, I live only a few minutes from there. My grandfather lives right on Swetts pond near there. The name unfortunately doesn't seem to ring any bells but I can't say I know really anyone who lives in that part. I didn't even realize there were other death metal fans in Orrington...we are few and far between within the woods of Maine. Since you're from Newport you know of any local metal groups in ME?( the doom band Ocean and a few BM groups are the only one that comes to mind right now) The Bangor area is smothered with hardcore and that just doesn't tickle my god damn fancy one bit. Thanks for the welcoming!

Let's see. I'm Lorrie from South Texas, found the forums through a ton of aimless clicking about. My favorite game, despite its being panned by virtually everyone, is Quest 64. I'm not that hardcore a collector, but I'd say, Atari 2600, SNES and NES and my favorite, N64. I'm a student in real life, planning on doing something with animation in the future. Known as the video game guru in my family. I began playing video games when I was a wee little one, playing the levels my older brother had already unlocked, and 12 years later, the tables have turned! ROFL

Hey,

I'm Obesolete from Toronto Canada.

I've been collecting for most of my life, but never started taking it seriously until i ran into my now almost husband again after years so not seeing each other since highschool.

Together we've been collecting mainly nes and snes carts with a total of 150+ nes carts and 80 some-odd snes carts and consider them our pride and joy.
We also have several hundreds of gameboy/DS/SP/ps1/2/3/cube/dreamcast/xbox games scattered among the house/in our parents basements.

our second bedroom has become a shrine to classic gaming and also my workshop for my Etsy store Closet Monsters where i sell custom plushies.

Greetings, all!

Name is Keith, aka Jan Lazer. I'm a 26 year old father of one boy and one to-be-girl(July 14, expected) from Leduc, Alberta, Canada. I've been playing video games since I was 2 years old...Started off on the Atari 2600(which I still have) and the Commodore Vic 20/64(also still have).

My favorite game of all time has to be Wonder Boy in Monster Land for the Sega Master System(which is also my favorite system). I'm currently in the process of finishing an entire US release collection for the system and am only about 10 games short(pending a deal I'm in the process of making). After that is finished, I'm planning on doing the same for all Sega systems, as I possess every one of them except for the Saturn.

My drive to collect games is not just for my own personal pride/amusement, but also so I have something to pass down to my children, as I know for a fact they will remember their father as that 'crazy gaming, hair metal listening idiot'.lol.

Howdy all,
Name's Marlow' I'm from Texas
long time addict first time poster. I was pretty big into games back in the late 80's early 90's then my mom made me sell all my systems and games to finance a computer since it could play games and do school work. I picked the habit back up in the late 90's with a PSX and an N64 and have been back ever since, mostly on the 360 nowadays, I have always been a die hard shooter fan.

I recently got the bug to reaccquire some of my lost childhood and picked up another Genesis to go with the games and SNES I bought off my brother a few years ago and am in the process of getting that all set up, still looking for a reasonably priced TG16 (while I lived through the NES era, I always had a soft spot for the 16 bit machines moreso) I found this site while perusing the net.
I'm currently about to be a first time father just in time to convert another to the cause. In my daily life I'm an insurance adjuster and husband with a game widow for a wife ;)

- Who you are
- Where you live
- How you found the forums
- What your favorite games are
- What systems you collect for
- What you do in "real life"
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

Hi everyone!! Ok, here we go with the roundtable test...

- I´m Daniel, 24, from Spain. Easy Going guy here :) Happy to be here!
- I live in El Escorial, a village 50kms. away from Madrid, the capital
- I found the forums looking for an online guide on pricing :p
- At this moment I´m a lot into japanese music games, specially hooked on Taiko no tatsujin. In general, I love racing (mainly sims), sports, strategy, platform and puzzle games :)
- I don´t collect a lot... but I would say Master System, Mega Drive (not as much), and starting a collection on Wii :)
- I don´t have a job right now... Studied for TV and journalism, but is hard to find something... just looking for something to fit in. Would like to get into the music business in the future.
- I don´t think I´ve began collecting at all! I just have a bunch of games I like and I´m proud of, that is :) But I´m into many, many things... photography, video games, music... lots of things really :)

Hope I meet many people here and learn a lot!

Hi, I'm Sean from Sydney Australia. I stumbled across this forum when looking for advice on how to fix an old console of mine. It's great to find so many passionate gamers in one place!
I have a decent collection of Sega stuff (7 consoles and counting) which I have mostly accumulated as it came out. I've only recently got back into gaming and am trying play "catchup" by collecting some classic games I missed out on, as well as making a slow re-entry back into the current console generation. I probably began consciously collecting when I first got into ebay and nabbed a copy of Shenmue 2 for DC.
At this moment my all time favourite games would be Sonic 2, Nights, Resident Evil CV and Resident Evil 4.
In real life I work for a television network :D

Aside from Video games, i keep a Marine Fish tank (165 G Display, with a 90 G sump) with about 13 different types of hard and soft corals, reef fish and inverts.

I'm Harley from the state of Missouri. I'm 13, but I've been collecting rare classic games for about five years. I enjoy playing older games over the newer ones, since they're usually a lot more challenging and a lot less complicated. My favorite game of all time is GEX (Playstation One), a game I grew up with. Other favorites include Bonk's Adventure,Air Zonk, Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World.

Hi, I'm Battroid. I've been playing and getting bored with video games for years. I've finally came to the conclusion that these new systems are getting just too complicated and taking all the fun out of gaming. So, I've finally dusted off the ol' Super Nintendo and I'm having a blast revisiting all these great games. This forum seems like the perfect place for me to get involved and keep up on the goings on in the retro game world. Looking forward to chatting with all of you.

Hey everyone. My name is John and after lurking for a while I finally joined up today. I've been a fan of video games since getting an Atari way back when, and have become a huge Nintendo fan since getting my first system in 1986. At the moment I'm only actively collecting NES and SNES stuff, but I do have an Intellivision and hope to get an Atari 2600 in the very near future.

I run a pretty new website at www.8bitmadness.com that currently includes a bunch of cool NES stuff but I'm hoping to expand to SNES in the near future. NES was enough work as it is though. :)

In addition to being a classic gamer, I collect action figures, play a little bit of bass and guitar and am a big baseball fan. Don't laugh at me, but I'm a life-long Royals fan. ;)

Anyway, just a quick bit about me. This is an awesome place and I'm glad I finally joined!

Hello,
I am James, age 22, from North Carolina. Graduated in May '08 with dual bachelorette degrees, which are utterly useless at this point in this wonderful economy. Currently I am employed by the county as a sales clerk. I did not begin hordering/collecting video games until the last 6 months. I try to collect as cheapy as possible by hitting up pawn shops, flea markets, craigslist, etc... I find I enjoy the hunting more often then the finding, mainly because I don't find much. I have had some luck in the past couple of months amassing my collection.

The collection really has no rhyme or reason. If I see something I like for the right price I'll try to purchase it. The collection spans from the Master System to the Wii. I prefer to collect for the SMS/NES up to the 64.

So far:
Consoles: 10 (excluding Sega CD, 32X, SMS II, 2nd Jaguar)
First Console: NES/ First Console bought for collecting: Sega Genesis
Fav. Console: Dreamcast or Genesis
Fav. Genres: Varies, used to be into Racing Sims, but I'm all over the place now
Collect: NES, SNES, SMS, Genesis, SegaCD, 32X, Dreamcast, Jaguar, and 3DO
Most Wanted: Turbo Grafix, and lots more games

what up.

im justin, 22, from nj. ive given the digital press store some decent business and ive only been there twice.:-D

i have too many games, too many systems, and too many arcade games. im running out of room and really need to overhaul my basement.

im working on a computer engineering degree at rutgers, with electives such as VR, AI, and CG.:wink 2:
im hoping to put that towards either medical rehab or of course, video games.

i think the majority of gaming peaked during the 16 bit era and hasnt been the same since. fighters and platformers are the best kind of games, and fps just doesnt do it for me unless its on a pc.

i spend most of my time on neo-geo.com.

some of my failed attempts at websites include an arcade tech site and a graphical move list site for fighters.

Hey guys I'm Blake. I came here to look for nes multicarts after gametz told me that I couldn't ask for them there. Like most of you guys, I'm running out of space to store my stuff.

My name is Nikki. I live in southwest Missouri. I always loved the NES but never really got into collecting until after September 11th. After that, my husband started getting deployed a lot. I got bored and started hanging out at flea markets and comic book stores in my spare time. Consequently, I have a completely awesome Transformers collection. One day I decided to make a list of all the games and systems we had and I realized I had a crapload of those too. I decided to start referring to it as my collection so it would sound like I did it on purpose. Luckily, my husband completely supports this hobby (because he's a boy) so we currently have:
5 Intellivision games (no system yet)
Atari 2600 w/47 games
NES w/21 games
Gameboy w/5 games
SNES w/5 games
Atari Lynx w/6 games
GBA and GBSP w/15 games
30 PS games
Dreamcast w/15 games
Sega Genesis w/23 games
Sega Game Gear w/7 games
N64w/13 games
2 PS2's w/49 games
2 XBOX's w/24 games
Gamecube w/1 game
2 NDS w/18 games
2 PSP's w/22 games
Wii w/10 games
PS3 w/3 games
XBOX360 w/3 games

I've also gotten into some other old electronics and have acquired a C.E.D. player, a betamax, and a laserdisc.

I like platform games. I love Mario and Spyro. Puzzle games are cool too. I don't really have any MISB or rare games. With the Transformers, I am good and don't open things. Video Games are my fun/get to touch and play with everything hobby.

I feel like I need to be here. Over the past year and a half, I've amassed kind of a big collection of systems. In no particular order:

ColecoVision (with modules 1 and 2)
NES
Genesis 2 (with Sega CD)
Dreamcast
Saturn (a black one AND a white one)
SNES
Atari XE
2600
TurboGrafx-16
The Philips CD-i I've had since 1993
3DO (two, actually: a working GoldStar and a dud Panasonic FZ-1)
X'Eye (with the classic "No CD" problem)
Neo Geo Pocket Color
Game Boy Color
Game Boy Advance
PS One (the small one)
Wii (my one concession to modern gaming)

As for the rest of me, I'm a vintage tech freak, a thrift store fiend and flea market bargain hunter extraordinaire (that's how I ended up with most of these systems, not to mention half the stuff in my co-op). I live on Long Island, and I get paid to watch TV all night. No, really - I'm a master control operator. Oh, and I use way too many parentheses (I apologize for that). I've googled for things that have led me here a few times, and the last couple things I've googled led me to read into the forum a little more...so here I am - officially.

Hello, my name is Nick. I am 19, and currently studying engineering at the University of Calgary (Canada).

I started collecting video games about a year and a half ago. I'm most interested in hardware, and tend to only buy games that interest me, and that I intend to play. As such my ratio of games to consoles is pretty low, I own about 250 games, which works out to about 10 per console on average.

So far I have acquired the following consoles (the Wii and Gamecube are my brother's):

Magnavox: Odyssey (1973)
Atari: Super Pong, 2600
Coleco: Colecovision
Nintendo: NES (toaster and toploader), SNES (versions 1 and 2), N64, Gamecube, Wii, Virtual Boy (in the mail), Game Boy (original, pocket, advance SP, and Micro)
NEC: Turbografx 16 (with turbo booster in the mail)
Sega: Master System, Genesis (models 1 and 2, and 32x add on), Saturn, Dreamcast (with Samba de Amigo, one of the best games ever!), Game Gear
Sony: Playstation (both case styles), PS2
Microsoft: Xbox (Silver edition)
Zapit: Game Wave
Xgamestation (more of a learning console)
An MVS arcade board and Jungle Hunt arcade PCB, currently making a supergun to play it.

I've been reading this site for awhile now, but some things have come up with my collecting that I need to ask questions about, so I finally signed up for an account. Other things I like are collecting old electronics (reel to reel players, laser disc, etc.) and working on a number of projects (often electrical in nature).

Inspired by the AVGN, I satirically rant on shitty video games. Type (Game Dude) at Youtube or even Google to find my Youtube channel. I am now at film school to learn how to make my videos better. All video game reviews currently posted were made before I went to film school, so they're decent. Take a look anyway, if you'd like.

PS: I was formerly known as the Annoyed Gaming Geek, but I changed the name because it was too similar to the Angry Video Game Nerd.

I'm Bryan. I live in NJ and go to college in NY.

I don't collect for any systems right now. I own a Genesis which I got when I was about 5. I only had 3 games for it (Sonic Spinball, Virtua Racer, and Ms. Pac Man). I bought the 4 Sonic games (1, 2, 3, Knuckles) about 5-6 years later at Funcoland and Adventures of Batman & Robin when it was in the bargain bin at Toys R Us.

I never owned a SNES and I wish I did. I played it a few times at friends' houses and loved it. I have played SNES and NES games on rereleases (I have all the Super Mario Advance games, Metroid Zero Mission. I got Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero, and Super Metroid on Virtual Console. Also recently got Chrono Trigger for DS and love it).

I found the site looking for reviews of the Retro Duo which I plan to buy soon. I'm going to buy the games I missed out on for Genesis, SNES, and NES. I'd stick to emulation but it just doesn't feel the same.

Hello everyone

My name is George and I am a student at CU Boulder.

I have been playing games since around 1987 and started with the NES. I started collecting around 99 with the PS1 being my first focus. I had a really nice PS1 RPG collection that I had to sell to make bills when my wife got pregnant about 4 years ago. I have yet to replace them but have continued to collect and Sunday finally reached the 1000 mark. That joy was somewhat squandered on Monday when I was told the pain in my hands, wrists and arms may be rheumatoid arthritis, seriously hampering my ability to do most of my hobbies. The blood work comes back tomorrow so *fingers crossed*

I found this website looking for others who are video game collectors. Most of my friends have collections of around 30 games, friends I have online have 200 or so games. I wanted to find people who had closer to me. I also wanted to find a community that could help me focus my collecting a little but better because I would just buy games with no aim or purpose. Lurking around here for a while has helped me with that.

So yeah that is me. I look forward to interacting with fellow enthusiast.

Hi, I'm Billy Smith, but I'm better known on the interwebs as Dr. Gonzo. I hail from Annapolis, MD, and I kneel only at the altar of Shigeru Miyamoto. :P I've been gaming since I was 4 years old on my cousin's NES, and now I've actually got myself a job (sort of) as a gaming article writer at thatguywiththeglasses.com

I probably take video games a lot more seriously than I should, as i tend to actually study games in the same way one would study a piece of literature or a Da Vinci painting. My hope one day is to actually write a couple of academic books on the merit and value of Video gaming.

I own 17 game systems, and the game library grows everyday!

My top 5 Games:
Mario Bros. 3
Super Metroid
Doom
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Final Fantasy VI

Welcome to the forums!

This is a big place and it's sometimes easy to get lost in the crowd, but we really do want to know about you. This thread will serve as a "who's who" reference for the future so make your presence known!

Tell us any or all of the following:
- Who you are
- Where you live
- How you found the forums
- What your favorite games are
- What systems you collect for
- What you do in "real life"
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

NOTE: posts here that are NOT introductions will be removed, so if you want to say hello to someone, start a new topic to do so.

Let us begin.

Hey Everyone,

Names Rob I live in South Jersey. Found the forums by seeing the AVGN post about being at the store last summer. (Not recently, remember seeing his event on his MySpace last summer, just took this long to make the trip up to the store) Made my first trip to the store this past weekend. I must say it is by far the greatest store I've been to. I have a bunch of systems but really collect for NES. In real life I work for a software company. Nothing much interesting with my life. I'm still into NES a couple decades later and enjoy playing it over other systems.

Been lurking for a while, decided to join up.
I have these systems.
-PS2
-NES
-Colecovision
-Atari 2600
-SNES

I play my NES and 2600 the most. I used to collect classic games hardcore got rid of 90% of my stuff about 5 yrs ago. Recently started picking stuff up again. Never going back to when I had 20+ systems though. I'm gonna pick up a Genesis and N64 soon enough but I still have a ton of games on NES to beat.

Hi, I'm MattK. Long time reader of the main site, first time poster. The mrs and I recently decided that it was time to start building a joint games collection, as our individual collections have been a bit ravaged over the years by family, moving house, etc. so we're basically just looking for the stuff we want in nice, neat condition.

As for the real world, I live in Australia, I'm a freelance writer that focuses entirely on gaming. I write a couple of opinion pieces and reviews each week for one of the larger ISP-run gaming sites down here. I'm 25 and engaged to a lovely lady who is also very much into gaming. Between us we own every majorly successful console since the NES, with just under 1,000 games total. According to our little list, we have about 1,400 games we're tracking down to add to that collection, or replace items that aren't up to our standards, so I reckon it's going to be a life-long quest.

Oh well, I'm not really into introduction threads but here it goes:

I'm from Costa Rica and I've been collecting stuff from time to time, not really an avid collector but mostly collecting games I really liked back in the day or games/systems I/my parents couldn't afford back then. I currently have:

Atari 2600 (broken :( )

Sega:
Master System
Genesis
[JVC] X'eye
Japanese Saturn
Japanese Dreamcast

Nintendo:
NES
[Sharp] Twin FamiCom

NEC:
Super Grafx
Core Grafx 2
Super CD-ROM

Sony:
PS1 (broken)
Fat PS2
Slim Limited edition (white)
Launch 60GB PS3

M$:
Xbox 360 (jasper)

I'm willing to start collecting Neo-Geo MVS carts (can't really justify AES prices)

Hi all,

this is Simone from Italy. I'm a C64 and Amiga and - of course - videogames lover ;)

My love for videogames was born when, as a child, I first looked at those shiny things that the C64 moved across the screen. Since then, to me computers have been like canvas for painters... I ended up creating several videogames and also lots of other weird stuff - from developer libraries to virtual machines. The last projects I have been working on are a retro-flavoured game I just published for AmigaOS 4 and Windows and a crazy game for C64 (which is near to completion, but I can't tell when I'll ever find the time to finish it).
Besides the computers mentioned, I also had the chance to appreciate a few titles produced for the NES, Master System, GameBoy(s), SNES, Neo Geo, etc.
I must admit I have not played tons of games in my life... but only because I like creating them more!

For the very curious ones, something more about me can be found on my personal website: http://saimobvq.interfree.it/saimo/index.html.

SNES
NES (Boxed)

183 games total.

I'm a major Dr. Mario fanatic, I've scored 1 million more than 15 times, with a high score of 1.5 million. Right now playing Forza 2 and Fable II. I got my first 360 in Jan 06 so I was lucky enough to get the "Ultimate Jman" gamertag.

Hey all,
Your standard introduction...
Me:
I'm a herpetologist that likes to work with varanids, crocodilians, vipers, and elapids. As a a wildlife biologist though, I also like most critters. Lately I have been working for a wildlife documentary production in Thailand. I took some time out to travel around and climb a bit, and now I'm back in the US for a while. I'd like to unload a big chunk of my collection (mostly doubles and stuff I'll never play again) here and on other sites before I go back to the jungles. When that's all petered out its back to ebay 'sigh'.
My collection:
3DO
Atari 2600 / 7800 / 5200 / XE
NEC TG16 / PCE / TGCD / PCECD / TGSCD / PCESCD / ACD
N64
GB / GBA / DS
NES / FC / FCDisk
SNES / SFC
Virtual Boy
Sega DC
Sega GG
Sega Genesis / MD / SegaCD / MegaCD / 32X
Sega MS
Sega Saturn
PSX
NeoCD
and some random stuff like the ActionMax, Game.com, Pong systems, CD-i, FM Marty Towns II, PCFX...maybe that's it.
Saturn and TG16 / PCE are my favorite systems though I rarely play either anymore.
My favorite series of games are the Contras and Castlevanias, though the latter seem a little uninspired as of late. i used to love jrpgs as a kid (dragon warrior, phantasy star, etc.) but I have no desire to play them any more but dig a good arpg once in a while (like princess crown). When I can post it, you should buy my stuff. Here's a pic of one of my favorite snakes, the Central American Eyelash Viper, Bothriechis schlegelii , which I found near the Panamanian border of Costa Rica. Enjoy.
Thanks,
Alex

I'm Brad and I discovered the site and store through my buddy. I am 28 and received a NES for my 6th birthday along with Mach Rider and Pro Wrestling. I stayed seriously into gaming since with:

SNES
N64
PS1
PS2
Various GameBoys
DS
Virtual Boy
Turbo Duo
Wii

My favorite systems are by far the Wii, DS, and SNES. I am in the process of organizing my collection so I can pare it down to be a little more manageable (yes, that is probably sacreligious here :-) To that end, I dumped a Sega Tower and a bunch of loose Genesis, Game Gear, SNES, and N64 games at DP earlier this month.

I am interested in collecting CIB KOEI for SNES games ATM and am trying to resurrect my Duo (the cables and controllers are somewhere at my parents' house).

thanks,
Brad

Hello all.

Been lurking here for a time, finally decided to join.

I run mostly Nintendo, with everything from NES up to Wii [minus Virtual Boy], broken only by my Sega Genesis.

I'm not too much of a collector per se, preferring to mainly stick to games that are just fun, as opposed to trying to get a complete collection. However, there are a few oddball titles I want [Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu comes to mind, simply because of the title].

Anyway, I'm an Engineering student IRL, so I'm pretty interested in the hardware behind the gameplay.

Hope to have a good time here.

A couple favs
Fav Handheld - Atari Lynx - Electrocop
Fav NES Game - Faxanadu, Boulder Dash
Fav Overall Console - 3DO
Cartridge or CD? CD.
Fav SegaCD Game - Dracula Unleashed, Theme Park

Hello all. My name is Owen. I've been a TI-99 enthusiast since the mid 80's and have amassed an exceptional collection of hardware AND software. I am also a TI-99 programmer. I have written several games and several variations of established games... For instance I created several Tunnels of Doom unique and original adventures to be used with the ToD game module produced by Texas instruments in 1981. For some of my many videos on computer programming, view my YouTube account. www.youtube.com/user/Opry99er. Soon I will be posting videos of my newest game release (still in BETA form) Lemonade Stand... an original adaptation of the Video Brain game of the same name.
I am a guitar player for my job. Sounds strange, but I play lead guitar for a band called Scarekrow (myspace.com/scarekrowmusic). I am on the road most of the time, but when I'm home-- I'm on my computer. When I'm on the road, I am on my laptop working on my ti99 emulator called Classic99. It is my goal to put out 3-5 totally original games per year for the TI99 until the day I die. =) Sounds interesting, doesn't it? (not really... just very obsessive). I love the TI-99. It makes my world happy. If any of you are interested in what it is and how to use it... eMail me or message me. =) I'd be glad to tell you all about it... I might even have a few extra computers lying around in case someone is interested in programming with me. Could always use a co-author on my NEXT work... I will be designing a TI-99 version of the classic game "Drug Wars." It will be more faithful to the PC version than the calculator version... because I have much more capabilities with my TI99 rig than are available on calculators. Thank you all, and I can't wait to get to know some of you.

Hey guys~ !!! ^_____^ Uwaoo~ >___>;

My name is Christian. I'm a 21 year-old SNES/SFC-freak from germany and I found my way here through one of the many advertisements for this page that other sites seem to link all over their websites!

First, let me tell you how I got into retro gaming. I mostly focus on SNES-games and I'd almost describe my passion for this system as pure addiction... Five years ago, I lost my SNES collection to a fire.. T___T; *stares blankly* At that point, I did not really have any rare items in my collection, but considering the huge amount of time that I had spent with those games It simply meant a lot to me... That collection was the very essence of my youth, and although that may sound weird to some of you I can not say anything different.. In order to overcome that loss I started to rebuild my collection, but once I got all my games back I couldn't put an end to this. :)

Today, my collection still expands. I focus mainly on SFC imports, for the reason that I adore many of the japanese RPGs. I am (desperately) looking forward to buying every single RPG that was ever released by squaresoft, wich is, so to say, my biggest goal~

Soooo~ why am I here anyway..? Since there are some nice german boards mainly concentrating on the SNES, one might ask for my motives of putting effort into another membership, especially because I'm not a native speaker.. First, though focusing on the SNES, I am also open for any other retro systems that are being discussed here. ^_______^; Second point is, I want to ... expand my horizon! I thought it would be a great experience to meet people all over the world who share my passion.

Finally, you need to understand that I am not a native speaker >____>; I only have what they teached me at school, and therefor you must excuse any language problems that I may have ~___~ pretty please >___>;

Now have a good day und liebe Grüße aus Deutschland. Sauerkraut!! =)

Hello everyone! I am new here and would like to introduce myself. My name is Matt, I am 31 yrs old, and I am from Frankfort,IN. I have loved gaming my whole life but I have entered a huge "retro gaming collector" phase recently. See, I have been debilitated with an incurable illness known as "AS" for the last seven years. I am able to still keep working at my job doing retail sales but that's about all I was interested in doing just to keep busy. Then back in Feb. of this year I bought my first laptop computer and decided to go to eBay and just check and see what kind of games are available for auction. That's when the retro bug hit me. I am actually excited now to come home from work and not lay my aching body down on the couch but get on eBay and other gaming sites to see what I can score. There is also three very fine retro game stores in my area with nice selections. I was always fascinated by the Turbografx and it's Japanese counterpart the PC Engine. These are my two favorite consoles now. Here's a rundown on what I have collected since February.

1) Turbografx w/CD-ROM2 add on w/ games
2)Sega Master System w/games
3)Sega CD for my Genesis
4)Super System Card 3.0 to turn my Turbo CD into a Super CD-ROM2 unit!(I thank Pat over at PompeyParsons for the Turbo CD and the Super System Card because he sold me both items at cost! He's an all around good egg.)

This list will surely grow over time. Now here's the systems that have been in my collection since their initial release.

1)NES
2)Sega Genesis
3)Super Nintendo
4)PlayStation
5)Nintendo 64
6)Sega Dreamcast
7)PlayStation 2
8)Game Boy Advance
9)Nintendo DS
10)Gamecube
11)XBox
12)XBox 360

I look forward to what the future brings with my new life. This forum will hopefully be a part of that. Thanks for reading!

But not still the forum I'm looking for ! Take care.

Edit : Well, lucky me, I just found it (and not with google)

Greetings Folks,

I've written about games for a while now, but have only relatively recently been involved in the production side of things. I've lurked for a bit, but introductions are always fun. Now then, on to the list!

Systems:

Atari Jaguar
Microsoft Xbox
Microsoft Xbox 360
NeoGeo Pocket Color
NES
Nintendo 64
Nintendo DS
Nintendo Game Boy
Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP
Nintendo GameCube
Nintendo Wii
Panasonic 3DO
Super NES
Sega CD
Sega Dreamcast
Sega Game Gear
Sega Genesis
Sega Saturn
Sony PlayStation
Sony PlayStation 2
Sony PlayStation 3
Sony PlayStation Portable
TurboGrafx-16

I also own three computers: Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop, custom desktop, and a PowerPC-based iMac. I ran out of room a long time ago, and I'm currently struggling to find a way to store my old PC games - ahhh, big boxes - so that my house isn't a complete mess.

Hi everybody! My real name is Valtteri and im from Finland. I'm probably the youngest on this forum. I'm 14... ...and a retro-collector... Dont look at me like that! I have always been into older games and when ps2 and the xbox were new, it hit me. Why games arent the way they used to be? The FPS time started and i was sad 'cause populous died completelly and "heroes of might and magic 4" was a great disappoitment. I missed the first 2 heroes games and populous. I bought "return to the castle wolfenstein" and what do you know! When you beat the game you unlocked the whole wolfenstein 3d game! I actually played it more than the never one. I was really starting to get interested in older games. Watched some reviews and remembered the times i had with my sega genesis, ps1 and old DOS-games. I bought a NES and a super nintendo and now i might be one of the youngest collectors out there.

My name is Will. I'm a 28 year old retro-gamer from Northeast PA, USA.

At one time, I had a pretty impressive collection of rarities in perfect condition, but many of them had been sold off or stolen by my ex. In the past six years, I've slowly re-built my collection piece at a time.

One of these days, I'll take pics of what I have and start a Photobucket account. I don't really have anything too rare, but the interesting items that come to mind are Rubik's Cube for the 2600, Action 52 for the Genesis, Dragon Warrior 1 - 4 in box (but no maps or instructions) for the NES, Phantasy Star 1 - 4 for the SMS/Genesis (complete), and a pretty decent collection of SNES RPG in mint condition complete (Soul Blazer, Gaia, Earthbound, FF2, FF3, Chrono Trigger, Mana, Act Raiser 1 & 2, Zelda, Mario RPG, Evermore, Lufia 2 and a few others).

In addition to classic games, my girlfriend and I collect a lot of 1980's retro nostalgic items from our childhood. One of the prizes in my collection is a Mac Tonight translight that I have wired into a box that lights from behind. For some reason, I really dug the moon guy when I was a kid, thus the nickname.

We also collect cartoon cels and recordings of 1980s television with the original commercials still in the broadcast. I'm a member of a few trading communities that go to flea markets and buy any old looking VHS blank tapes in the hopes of discovering a block of Saturday Morning Cartoons or other 80s programming w/o/c. So far, we've managed to put together about 40 DVD-R's worth of material.

Other than that, I'm a huge Phillies fan and thanks to an auto accident settlement and a layoff from the cable company, I'm back in college. I'll be starting my junior year at Wilkes University in the fall working towards my political science degree and a teaching certificate.

I'm intrigued by the home brew games and the reproductions of Japanese games translated to English and unreleased titles. I'd like to add a few to my collection in the near future. I'd love to get my hands on Secret Of Mana 2, Starfox 2 for SNES and the Penn & Teller game for Sega CD.

Well, that's about it. I'm sure I'll talk to many of you later. I've been coming to the digital press website for quite a while now (since the 4th edition of the collectors guide). If I have time, I'd love to write a piece for the Lore book about the Aladdin's Castle I frequented as a child. I owned the college kids at Discs Of Tron when I was 4. :)

Have a good weekend, folks.

Hi, I'm Tim, a 34-year-old gamer from Ohio. I also happen to translate Japanese into English for a living, so feel free to send any Japanese game-related questions my way. I've been lurking here for quite awhile and finally decided to post a few messages. Anyway, here's all the hardware in my possession I can remember off-hand:

Atari: 2600, 7800, Lynx (broken screen :P), Jaguar x2, Jaguar CD
Nintendo: NES x3, AV Famicom, Famicom Disk System x2, Twin Famicom, SNES x2, SNES Jr., Super Famicom, Nintendo 64 (Japanese), GBA, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, Nintendo Vs. Arcade Machine (the squat, red-colored model)
Sega: Master System x2, Genesis 1 x2, Genesis 2 x3, Genesis 3 x2, MegaDrive 2 x 2, Game Gear x2, Sega CD 1, Sega CD 2, Sega CDX, Mega CD x2, 32X x2, Super 32X (Japanese), Saturn, Japanese Saturn, Dreamcast
NEC: TurboGrafx-16, TurboDuo, PC Engine, PC Engine CD-ROM, Core Grafx, Shuttle Grafx, PC Engine Duo (Japanese), PC Engine Duo R, PC Engine Duo RX, PC Engine GT
SNK: Neo Geo MVS x2 (Japanese), Neo Geo CD (Japanese front-loader), Neo Geo Pocket Color
Microsoft: Xbox, Xbox 360
Sony: Playstation, Playstation 2 Slim (thanks to a dead PS2 phat), Japanese Playstation 2, Playstation 3
Others: Goldstar 3DO (Japanese), Double Dragon Arcade Machine

Favorite games of all time: The Ninjawarriors/The Ninjawarriors Again, Elevator Action Returns, Bubble Symphoy, Burgertime, Mappy, Double Dragon I & II, Gradius V.

While I collect games on all platforms, lately I've been striving to complete my Genesis collection. A year ago I had ~230 games; now I have close to 600 unique titles, and I'm hoping to swap some of my duplicates here as I strive for the "perfect" 706 or so. Thanks for reading!

Hi all, I'm Mr. GameFix. I'm a video game repair specialist with my own website
www.mrgamefix.com where I offer my services for both new and retro gaming platforms. Growing up in the late 80s and early 90s, I'm also a huge fan of the retro era of gaming. The heyday of the NES and SNES and Genesis was a great time in my life and I'm sure there are many others here that feel just the same way.

That's why half of my business is devoted to restoring the classic systems of yesteryear! :D

Figured I'd start off here.

I'm Ryan from New Jersey. Not too far west from Digital Press actually. Found this site while trying to diagnose a problem with a friends dreamcast. Been getting back into games a lot lately. All started saving pennies for a brand new NES when I was a youngin. Currently I have these systems.

3 NES
SNES
Sega/Sega CD
Sega Saturn
PS1
N64
Xbox 360

I dont collect for any system in particular but I have a fondness for 2d games. Platformers, fighters, etc..

Looks are not the point, but personalities like that make these forums nothing but glass-eyed answer seekers. That ain't me.

Hi all,

I've been an infrequent lurker around here for a few years. pcenginefx has been my forum of choice since '05, with some nosing around at smspower.org. I'm into other retro systems and I signed up here because I'm impressed with the range of topics and discussion.
Bought a NES in 89, followed by a TG16 and SMSII in 92, SNES in 94 and Turbo Duo in 97. I also own a SuperGrafx, N64 and Super Gameboy, along with a Genesis and PS1 boxed up somewhere. I've had a Gamegear, Jaguar and 3DO at various points. I'll a die hard fan of the Ultima console ports, even through I know they're considered inferior to the originals. I'm currently playing gloomy music and going back to school in Minneapolis.

Hello!
I started collecting retro consoles about five years back, but hadn't messed with them in the last few years.
I've had my interest renewed after a few amazingly cheap finds at the local dirt mall. In the last two weeks, I've picked up a TurboGrafx 16, working and complete for $2, a Dreamcast with 4 controllers and 20 games for $40, and Panzer Dragoon for the Saturn for $5.

So now my 360 and Wii have been sitting alone and unloved while I play on Skies of Arcadia and Panzer Dragoon.

Consoles I own so far: Channel F, 3DO, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, TurboGrafx 16, NES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox, 360, PSX, PS2.

Hi everyone, Stephanie here. Been off and on lurker for many many many years now.

Been playing video games practically since I was born, from Atari to Xbox360. I do have a special preference towards old school gaming no later than the 16-bit era.

Over the years built up a HUGE collection of gaming memorabilia. I'm especially fond of my tabletop handheld collection, and my Vectrex. I've pretty much ran out of room to the point I had to sell off many of my consoles and carts, so I had to slow down my collecting at this point.

I have a MAME cabinet I built myself, and I've also done a little work in the gaming industry over the years. Just got to finally visit my first NAVA meeting this past weekend and had a great time!

I actually started collecting in Junior High - parents wouldn't let me have an NES because they said I'd monopolize the TV (they were right!), but eventually relented when they bought a new TV and let me buy a Genesis to use w/ the old one. As an adult, I really started my collection, buying up used systems (Saturn was my first big score), and just kept going from there.

hi everyone. I'm Leah and my avi is of my cat, mitty. I live in Oklahoma, where I'm doing the prereqs for nursing school. I sew a lot - it is my other big obsession in life.

I'm here because, for some strange reason, I've started to totally obsess over older gaming systems & fav games from the past.

Right now, I only have a few games (Sonic & Sonic Spinball) but no (Genesis) system to play them on. I'd like to get a good system and collect my dream game list.

Today I looked at a used N64 system with 4 games and one controller for $35. Two of the games are decent: Goldeneye 007 & Super Mario 64. Anyway, I figured I should check prices on ebay & the local game store before buying it.

I used to have a playstation (sold it a few years ago with all the games), but still have two gamegears & games, my original gameboy, a few gba's and an xbox.

Before we go any further, I guess I should tell you that four years of my life were spent playing Runescape. There, I've said it. I would still be playing if my account didn't get hacked and subsequently banned. lol. true.

ok enough about me. woot

Outside of gaming I enjoy playing guitar, getting tattoo's, and being inebriated. I live in Arkansas, have a good job, and a Great dog, Bella. I should also mention I have a wonderful, too young/hot/smart for me girlfriend that checks the history of where I've been and reads everything so.... Love you Hailey

Hi Digital Press,

My name is David, and I'm from Edinburgh in the UK. I use the name Leynos on most forums. I'm an avid collector of videogames, mainly of the neo-classic, 16-bit and 32-bit eras. My primary focus is Japanese import games, although I have been known to diverge from that where appropriate. My favourite genre is the shoot 'em up, but I also love puzzle games, platformers and scrolling beat 'em ups.

I'm the proud owner of the following systems:

Sega Master System, MSX, PC Engine, Super Famicom, Sega Mega Drive, Pioneer Laseractive, Neo Geo MVS, Capcom CPS2, Atari Lynx, Neo-Geo Pocket, Gameboy Pocket, PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Gamecube, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360 (x2), Wii and PlayStation 3

Being a mad hoarder, I've also somehow managed to acquire games for a few systems I don't yet own: PC-FX, IGS Polygame Master, Amiga CD32, Atari Jaguar and X68000. I hope to put this to rights and buy these systems sooner or later.

I'm also an arcade hardware neophyte (I own a few CPS2 boards and one Toaplan PCB). I've built my own Supergun and I'm planning on building a more advanced version soon.

Happy to meat you all.

My story of video games is interesting.

I have been behind in every department, except when I got my GBA SP and my DS Lite.

Seriously:

Everyone had a Super Nintendo and Genesis, all I had was the NES (and Mario, so should I really complain?).

Everyone had a N64, Playstation, and Saturn, I had a Genesis (and Sonic, so should I really complain?).

Everyone had a Gamecube, X-box, and PS2, I had a N64 (I didn't have Mario or Zelda or anything!).

And, the Christmas right after the Wii and PS3 came out, I got a PS2.
Ironically months after I finally got a PS1.

I'm always behind, but, it makes me respect old games.
Like, Doom. The first FPS I ever played was Halo. So I didn't exp. the older FPSes. Last Feb, a friend lent me his copy of the Doom Collectors Edition with all three games (Doom, Doom II, and Final Doom). I love it so much!
While, if I give it to someone else in my school, they may insult it for it primitive-ness. They are idiots.

Anyway, when it comes to video games, as long as it is still fun to play, I will play it.

List of Consules:

NES, Genesis, N64, GBA SP, PS1, PS2, DS Lite, Game Gear.

Hey hey,

I'm Michael, a.k.a. Bad Atom. I used to be a hardcore game collector about eight or nine years back, but I gave it up cold turkey because I needed a car more than I needed bookshelves full of rare NES games. :)

I still have more than a passing interest in retro gaming, though, and have been known to play the occasional emulated game. (I just played Super Mario 64 for the first time last year. Yeah, I stopped playing games after Super Nintendo.)

I've also dabbled in game programming (the games in my sig for example) but it's nothing I want to do professionally. And I've also made more than a few video game remixes/covers (http://www.youtube.com/badatom).

Looking forward to joining the discussions...

Been on this forum for a while, love following the discussions and check back couple of times a week, so I guess I too have a passion for old games.

Name - Kevin

Location - Scottsdale, AZ

Age - Nearing the time I'm supposed to 'grow up'

Why Retro games? I was always the kid on the block with all the games growing up, Started intellivision and turned NES (my best friend across the way had the commodore and atari, turned Genesis, so saw no need for those, he'd walk over to my place, and me to his, etc.)... Lost interest a little bit around high school / college (still played, but just FPS and sports). Then started selling and trading online after college, grew back my passion for all things from my childhood. Yes I own a 360 (only 4 games though over 2 years, COD 4, COD WOW, Bioshock, Assassins Creed). Outside of that I've started building back my collections of older systems and games :) While I have many games for the systems, there is always 1 set aside that I'll always keep with each system, my favorite :) I could pretend to like some obscure titles, but I'm talking about that 1 game I'd have to have and could play over and over. So for now I'm sitting on:

NES (Super Mario Bros), SNES (Super Mario world), N64 (Mario 64), Turbo Grafx 16 (Keith Courage), Intellivision (Utopia), Gamecube (Mario Kart DD), Panasonic 3do (Toon Time in the classroom, dont know why :)), Genesis (Herzog Zwei), Sega CD (Night Trap), Sega Saturn (Castlevania Dracula X), Playstation (Tekken 2).

I won't count the handhelds, Next purchase Neo Geo AES (with Metal Slug, Yes I realize the price IF i find it), and on a cheaper note any Atari Jaguar system (actually never played).

Game on guys!

I guess i started collecting due to my father owning an atari 2600 game (video olympics) and wondering what it was. My curiosity gave me a unique hobby that is fun and exciting. I played guitar for about 6 years (one reason I've neglected to visit the site :P).

Stumbled across them while beginning my actual "collecting"
- What your favorite games are
I love all sorts of games from the Atari 2600 through the Xbox 360, including almost every genre. If I find it fun (and even if I don't, which isn't that often), I play it.
- What systems you collect for
Currently, my biggest collections are for the PS1 and PS2 (not even from trying to collect, just games I've bought growing up), but am starting to collect NES, SNES, SMS, and Genesis games. My current consoles owned include:

Atari 2600
Atari 7800
TI-99/4A
Sega Master System
Nintendo NES
Super Nintendo
Sega Genesis
Sega CD
Playstation
Playstation 2
Playstation 3
Game Wave
Xbox 360
Nintendo Wii
Game Boy
Game Boy Color
Game Boy Advance
Nintendo DS
and a gaming PC that I build or update every couple years

- What you do in "real life"
Right now I am a Cook, but am also going to school for computer networking/IT stuff
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I am just starting to begin collecting older games, the majority of my collection is just games I bought new while growing up. I've never traded a game in or thrown any away, and even without trying to collect until now, I have amassed a decent collection of over 200 PS2 games, 150 PC, 100 PS1, and 35 or so Genesis games, not to mention about 130 games from Wii/Xbox 360/PS3. I also have at least a few games for the other consoles I own.

I'm Justin Brodack from Bedminster NJ and I'm 26.

I came across this site believe looking for reviews for older systems and also saw some great articles like the ones on rhythm games and psx shmups. Then I realized the store was in NJ and that I need to get myself to a Nava meeting.

I'm not really much of a collector and play the classics mostly with emulation. I have a wii, ps2, some ps1 games, and just ordered a dreamcast which I'm excited about. Also have a gp2x and I'm into homebrew scenes on consoles.

I love shmups though I'm probably one of the worst players that is a big fan of the genre. Always exciting to try a shmup I haven't tried before. Also love snk and neo geo. Turbografx 16 is also great and was thrilled when I got a chance to play splatterhouse on one a while back.

Well, I may have introduced myself in the past, but I haven't been around the boards consistently for about four years, so I thought that I would introduce myself again.

My name is Chris, I am 23, and I have been collecting since I was 16. I stopped collecting seriously for the past five years because I was in college and had no money. But, alas, I have graduated and I am getting back into it, so I thought I would return to the boards.

I am master lurker I guess. I don't post much, but I have been lurking since before digitpress moved from their other forum location, so probably sometime since 2000 or 2001. I still don't post all too often, but I just graduated with a degree in journalism and public relations, so I am trying to get into writing online more in areas of interest, such as my obsession with video games.

I am trying to get a complete a "cart only" SNES collection, but I also have about 18 systems, so I also look for "good games" for those systems. I have about half of the US SNES collection at this point. I try not to burden myself with collecting bad games for all of the systems I own, but for the SNES, I'll take 'em all. I am really fascinated by the 16-bit era, and I am getting my first T-16 and some games from Battehork sometime soon. I'm very excited.

In terms of major WANTS, I have most of the really rare SNES games out of the way, except:
- DK competition cart (obviously)
- Star Fox competition cart (obviously)
- Mountain Bike Ralley/Speed Racer combo cart (obviously)
- Aero Fighters
- Imperium
- Sim Ant
- Sonic Blastman II
- Pinball fantasies
- Ninja Warriors
- 3 Ninjas Kick Back

I have an extra loose copy of Chavez II in good condition, if anyone wants to trade.

Also,I am looking for any of the "Not for Resale" SNES carts that I don't already have (TMNT IV, specifically).

Also, as a gaming milestone, I won some post-college scholarship money recently. I have always wanted an arcade machine, so I ended up popping my cherry by buying three of them. I will post pictures in Arcade Alley soon. They are: a slightly beat-up Final Fight cab, and very nice Mr. Do!, and a four-channel Neo Geo cab with 9 common-but-sweet games.

I am looking for more Neo Geo MVS games, if anyone is looking to unload. Also, if you have a whole mess of SNES games, I would be willing to buy a bulk-lot of anything that I don't already have.

I have a bunch of more current-gen games that I will be posting for trade soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

I always liked this community, (and I can kinda surf while I'm at work, which is sweet), so I am glad to be back. I like the breadth of knowledge, the classic discussions, the flame wars, the search function, online rariety guide, buying and selling forum - All of it. It is great to be back.

I'm Tomato, I live in DC, go to college in Philadelphia, and found these forums while looking for a solution to problems I had with my Retro Duo (see the retro duo thread that I just bumped unwisely before introducing myself here).

I've always found old games interesting, but only started collecting cartridges when my dad's old NES unearthed itself and the following two things were made clear:

-the unit was in perfect playing order

-20+ year old games are, for the most part, much cheaper than new games no matter where you get them.

This seems like a pretty nice place, too.

Hello! I like arcade games from around 83 to mid 90s and am currently in a nostalgia period for 8 and 16 bit consoles.

I remember hearing about Digital Press in Arnie Katz' Electronic Games fanzines column and wishing I could make my own fanzine, which I'm working on now.

I can't believe Sean Pettibone died though, that's such a bummer. At least he wasn't forgotten.

I began collecting when I shipped out to Japan many moons ago. They have all kinds of crazy stuff that we couldn't get and on the cheap. I ended up living in Japan eight years and bought games by the bucketfull every weekend. I was in heaven.

Right now I'm in Europe. Retro gaming isn't quite hot where I'm at so I'm sitting on my laurels and enjoying what I have and playing nex-gen until I return to the Japan!

I was hoping perhaps that this site could help me out in hopes to finish off my black box set. Anyone have any idea how to get to the B/S/T area?.. i'm totally confused.

- Who you are
My name is Matthew. I'm 27.

- Where you live
I'm from Moscow, Idaho.

- How you found the forums
I found them while searching for checklists.

- What your favorite games are
I grew up playing Infocom text adventures and NES/SNES RPGs, so I like wordier games with stories, good character development and interesting environments. Zork I and Chrono Trigger have always been two of my favorites. Puyo Puyo is my favorite multiplayer/puzzle game, but only because I'm better at it than my friends are :P. Kickle Cubicle is my favorite NES game because of how much I enjoyed renting it as a kid. My mother bought me a complete, boxed copy for Christmas a few years ago, and after receiving it I realized how badly I wanted a few other games I had long ago traded away in favor of newer ones. Before I knew it, I had a fairly large collection.

- What systems you collect for
Mainly the NES, SNES and DS, but I'm always looking for good games on any system. I prefer collecting for cartridge-based systems, because I'd like to be able to play my game collection 30 years from now without simultaneously destroying it. I also enjoy being able to drop my games without seeing my life flash before my eyes. Aside from that, NES games are cheap these days, so it isn't financially irresponsible of me to collect them anymore.

- What you do in "real life"
I work in a deli making sandwiches. When I get home, I play video games that I can barely see through my tears of shame. I'm also married to a wonderful woman who thankfully puts up with me and my frequent trips to pawn shops, thrift stores and other seedy places on my quest for new games.

This looks like a great forum, and it's nice to see that most of the topics posted lead to civilized discussions. I look forward to participating in some of them in the future.

I started collecting when I basically had a whole bunch of Zelda-games already and noticed it was my favourite game-series. I then got a few goodies and realized I loved having them. Ever since that moment, which was about 3 years ago, I started collecting A LOT.

Other then that, Im the webmaster/head editor of the largest Nintendo website of the Benelux; www.Wii-DS.nl. Im also an editor at the largest Zelda-website in the world: www.ZeldaUniverse.net

It makes me get all of the Wii and DS-games for free + I have direct contacts with all of the publishers.

Hey! My name is Nathan, I'm 27 and am from Regina, Sk., Canada. I run a retro collecting blog over at www.VideoGamesAreRad.com. I have been playing video games since my parents got me my first Nintendo in 1988. I collect a little bit of everything, from PC DOS games to Game Gear.

I have been married to my awesome wife, Kira, for 3 years (dated since grade 11) who puts up with my hoarding and doesn't even care that my gaming stuff barely fits in my current game room. We have sweet 22 month old little girl named Veronica, whom I have already taught to play Super Mario Bros. (even though she sucks at it, but I am just laying a foundation, here).

We just bought our first house, and move in next week. I already have a spare bedroom in the basement staked out for my games and have already started building some custom shelving.

I work as a graphic designer and my favorite games are Snatcher (SCD), Mega Man 2 (NES), Final Fantasy 12 (PS2), most MegaTen games, and Strider (GEN).

Mega Man 2, Ninja Gaiden II: Dark Sword of Chaos, Gradius, Summer Carnival '92 Recca, Ufouria, Metal Storm, Nightshade (NES - not PS2), Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link, Starcraft, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Army of TWO, Metroid, Street Fighter II, Killzone, Counter-Strike: Source, Fallout 3, Splinter Cell, Goldeneye 64, Double Dragon II, Lemmings, Final Fantasy IV, Eye of the Beholder, ExciteBike, Gun.Smoke, Monty on the Run, Batman: The Caped Crusader (C64), Batman (NES)... and soooo many more.

- What systems you collect for

Can't say I really collect games right now. But my favorite systems are: NES, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 64, GameCube, Playstation 2, and most likely Xbox 360.

Hello,

My name is Andrew, if you couldn't tell.

I am from Mexico, Missouri USA

I have been using the rarity guides as a referance for years and just now decided to join the forums.

My favorite games of all-time would have to be NES games, mostly. When I was younger I had no Idea there were even any other systems, because the NES was all I had.

I have many systems, but I really only "collect" for the older systems. I only buy newer games if I like them. Anyway I collect for NES, SNES, Atari 2600, Odyssey 2, SMS, and Genesis, which I have at least one of each system. I will also buy games for systems I don't have if the price is right.

I am currently between high school and college, but I plan to be a graphic designer.

I started collecting when I ran across an Odyssey 2 and 12 games in my basement that my father had bought back in 1981. Later on, I found the box to the system, which still has the original receipt in it, and teh boxes to the games, all of which were in good condition. That must have made me hungry for more because before I knew it I had 11 fully functioning systems hooked up to my TV, and a few hundred games.

And To be honest, if I had a choice between the third generation system of my choice or a Magnavox Odyssey... Well, who could resist an Odyssey?

- What your favorite games are
Tough question. The Mario games are fun. I enjoy the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games. Also Soul Calibur and Tekken are super special awesome too.
- What systems you collect for
I'm a younger collector, so I'm getting new systems (just bought a Genesis : ) but I tend to aquire a bit of stuff before I get a new system (like ill get some Genesis games because I just got it, but if I see something I want for Saturn ill get that too)

- What you do in "real life"
I'm a student right now so...i do student things?

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Collecting video games is almost as fun as playing them I think. It seems I spend more time and energy then actually playing them (which irks me honestly) I remember back in the late 90s I heard my school mates talking about Play Station and Nintendo 64 and always wanted one but my parents said "No." I even remember grabbing the boxes in the shopping carts and seeing if my mom would notice (they promptly got put back on the shelf later) I then got a Game Boy Color and some Pokemon games. I eventually got a PS2 and that served my purposes for awhile. But eventually I wanted to play the games I missed out on and bought an N64 from a friend (for a fantastic price too BTW) and then it snowballed from there.

- What your favorite games are
It's a really tough question. In terms of sentimental value: Mega Man 2, Decapattack, Sonic The Hedgehog, Last Ninja 2, F-Zero. I can't list too many or I could be here all night, heh.

- What systems you collect for
Japanese Mega Drive, Japanese Mega CD, US Super Nintendo, PC Engine.

I begged my parents for NES for two years (1989-1990) and got bought a Mega Drive instead. I think they made the right decision ;) It's probably the sole main reason I am collecting all these years later. Mega Drive, never forget.

Hi! I'm Jason; I'm a teacher from New Jersey and today I bought a Super NES. After three months of searching for one, I found one at a flea market in Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately, because of my position as a teacher and due to not yet receiving my first paycheck for the school year (and thus being extremely strapped for cash), I've only got 2 games for it (Super Mario World and Link to the Past), but I hope to build my collection over the coming months!

Oh yes...my favorite games are Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, and, more recently, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (I have a thing for platformers).

Hello, I'm Scott from Arizona (aka, TwinThumbs). I don't like to admit that I'm gettin' a bit long in the tooth, but I have to admit that I remember playing the likes of Battlezone, Spyhunter, Pac-Man, and others in various pizza joints, arcades, and the like when they were new! :yipes: I also have fond memories of playing Atari 2600 at my buddy's house (circa 1980 or so). I never really became a "serious" gamer until the N64 era, strangely enough, but then I went nuts. Since then, I own or have owned one or more of the following: Genesis, NES, SNES, N64, DC, Xbox, Xbox 360, PSX, PS2, Saturn, Nomad, Game Cube, GBA, and PSP. I find I have a special fondness for the SNES/Genesis and the PSX/N64/DC eras in particular. Looks like I may fit in here pretty well. :)

Hello all,

I have been a member of this forum for a number of years now, although I have been very inactive for quite some time, so I thought I'd take a minute to reintroduce myself if that's alright!

My name is Kevin and I currently reside in Souderton, PA. I am currently covering Penn State football for Examiner.com (see the link in my signature) and hopefully it is a stepping stone for my future. As far as gaming goes I am, if you couldn't tell by my name, a fan of the Nintendo systems. I may not be on top of the latest releases or anything but I enjoy playing games that can be fun for all kinds of people.

I'll keep this brief and wrap this up right now, but I do plan on checking in here more often and chiming in when I feel I have something to add.

Have a good day!

Hello everyone.

My name is Neil. I am 22 and from England. My gaming life started out when I was about 6, with going around to a friends house and playing NES and Megadrive games. Eventually, I got a Megadrive 2 of my own and the obsession began -until it was stolen :( (I have since aquired a new one :))

At the moment my systems are: Sega Mastersystem, Sega Megadrive, Sega Saturn, PS1, PS2 and Nintendo 64. I am intending on expanding my collection, space is needed first!

I'm looking forward to joining in with this community. It seems very cool.

Cheers

I'm Chris. You'll have to excuse me if I don't write a whole lot about myself; I'm not very good at self-descriptions. I'm sure you'll get to know me based on what I post on the forums, so for now a simple "hello" will have to be enough.

Hi, I'm peregrinus, not sure exactly what to say, but I'll start with some of the info from the first post in this thread.

- How you found the forums
I found The forums via recommendation from a user, that I am not sure is actually a member here, but I've used the database before, sadly I didn't find much of what I was looking for aside from some info on what said item was.

- What your favorite games are
My favourite games are: Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Radical Dreamers, Xenogears, Persona 3: FES, and MGS4.

- What systems you collect for
I collect for the following consoles: NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, Genesis, PS1, PS2, PSP, Atari 2600-7800, N64, NDS, and I think I'm missing one or two...but almost anything.

- What you do in "real life"
Well, due to the economy, I am currently unemployed.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

My hobby is Glitch Hunting on various games, Legend of Zelda Links awakening for instance.

I work on a freebie forum as an administrator, and I like to think of myself as a philosopher.

I began collecting relatively recently, the first mainly being a more or less complete Final Fantasy 1 on NES I guess...
