Hey fellow gamers. My name is Ben McCracken I go by Mog the Destroyer 'cause I like those cute little moogles from the FF games. I stumbled across Digital Press by accident I picked up a copy of EGM, the one with Gollum on the cover I believe, and saw the coverage of CGE and all the rare games. Me loving the NES so much and was already collecting for it checked out the site and fell in love. I am a county worker for Santa Clara, happily married to a supportive wife who loves the idea of "cheap" gifts for special occasions. Thats about it I plan on being here and supporting Digital Press for as long as humanly possible. Game On!!

- Tampa, FL
- Browsing Google
- Super Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda ALttP/OoT, Resident Evil 4(Killer Graphics)
- NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBC, GBA, PSX, PS2, Xbox, VB, PC
- Room Server~Hard Rock Hotel
- I grew up on the classics, and kinda took them for granted. Now that I realize how they were the pioneers of the gaming world, I show a greater appreciation for the revolutionary games; such as Goldeneye(being the first console multi-player FPS) and Super Mario 64(which surpassed other '3-d' games with fluent movement and fully 3-dimensional world).

Hello World.
My name is Bryan and I hail from Tampa, Florida in the good ole' USA.
I love video games of all shapes, colors sizes, and years. I'm mainly a calssic gamer. Most of my favorites predate '95. That may not qualify as "classic" to some of you...
Some of my favorites are the original Legend of Zelda, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, and Soul Blazer.
Amano

Hey there! The name's Samantha, or Sam for short. "Hey you" works, too. Soon to be 20 years.
I'm hail from western Nevada, where the only thing interesting is actually having access to the Internet. Heh. I stumbled onto DigitalPress.com just randomly. Can't really remember what I was doing. That was two hours ago. Oye.
My favorite games include: Guilty Gear X2, Secret of Mana, Gunstar Heroes, Final Fantasy VI, Katamari Damacy, and EarthBound.
I like all sorts of games, but generally rpgs, 2D fighting, racing, and puzzle games are my bag.
As far as my collecting habits, I'm on a quest to own every console RPG. So far, my main systems I own RPGs for would be GBA, PS2, PS1, and SNES. It's slow going, considering my limited funds. I'll probably get around to updating my very old game collection profile in a week or something like that. Busy with work and all.
Real life consists of work for me. It isn't half bad, though, because I'm 2nd in command at a game store. I play approximately 30% of the games I buy, and I maintain a long-distance relation with my squeeze. It's exhausing. I'm also looking into taking night classes at our local community college.
Started gaming back when I was 2. I played with my old man on his Intellivision. Then the NES came along, and I suppose that hooked me. And I just started to seriously collect in the last year. The sick thing is that I'm looking for all of the RPGs I sold maybe 2 years ago. They're all really expensive now, too. *sigh* Whoever said, "Ignorance is bliss" ought to be shot. Ignorance bites you in the rear later. ¬ ¬'
Anyways, nice to meet you all!!

I've just joined, and this seems the most fitting thread to tag onto first :)
Who am I? - I'm Jon. Notice the lack of "h". I hate it when people automatically assume the "h". Pet hate.
Where do I live? - UK, south. As far south as you can go, and to the east. South-east. Yes.
How did I find this forum? - A friend of mine found Nescapades (http://www.nescapades.com/gameroom.htm) which inspired me to find more wonderful game rooms. Which took me here, thankfully!
What are my favourite games? - Gosh, that's a wee bit hard for my first post. Something Sonic and something Mario. That'll do, no?
What systems do I collect for? - PC, N64, SNES, PS2 (and I'm looking in the long-term to pick up some PS1 games), Xbox and GameCube.
What do I do in real-life? - I work for Alpine Components. Just starting there. And in September, I'm going to Uni - or that is the plan, anyway. I've backed out the last few years - my colleciton cannot continue to grow without appropriate funding!
Anything else of interest? - Not really. Erm, these forums, and the Room Of Doom pages, inspired me to remodel my room this week. I took off the six sliding doors that hid my shelving before moving and reorganizing everything. It looks superb. Mess is not an option!
I hope to contribute to these forums like many have done so already. I just wish I found you guys sooner!

...After realising I have been on here for a little over a year and did not intruduse my self, I will now do so!
I am PentiumMMX, you can call me "Fred the Spanyard" if you want, I don't feel like saying where I live.
I discovered the fourms when I was looking for a decent Old-Skool Gaming fourm that was not loaded with "Nintendo 64 suck0rxxx! NES pwns!!11!11!", "ColecoVision rock0rz! I wanna' overclock it and play Halo!", and "GRRR! Nintendo Fanboy SMASH!"
I got into gaming when I got an N64, and the first system I played was an Atari 2600. I started collecting in 2003, starting with NES, Game Boy, and N64.
A few of my favorate games are "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night", "Mega Man 5", "Super Mario 64", "Mega Man X4", "Final Fantasy 7", "Ninja Gaiden", and "Zelda: Link's Awakening".
Outside of playing games, I enjoy watching anime and cartoons ("Xaolin Shodown" and "Mega Man: NT Warrior" are the best), and wacking stiff with a stick while shouting "TWO-MAGIC!".

I am an old school collector from Arizona who has been out of the hobby for a while. I used to be very active back in the early-mid '90's on #RGVC. You know what I mean..can't drive anywhere without hitting the thrift stores on the way. Once you get there you are able to walk in and with just a glance at the shelf know whether anyone else has been there or new stuff has been added. "My name is Pam and I was a collecting addict." Yes, I even think I failed a course or two as a result of the need to hit the Value Village on the other side of town every Wednesday afternoon. You can Google my old email pammyk@primenet.com on Google groups to verify my identity.
It is now one child and one divorce later and I have dusted off my collection and am going to be selling it all. As much as I hate to do this (hmm..first born vs. Cubicolor) I don't think keeping it in storage is proper and need to pass on the joy.
I am trying to catalog as I go since I have multiple systems and lots of boxes of hardware, games, etc. I have listed my current auctions in the marketplace forum and if anyone wants to keep tabs on what I have found in the depths of the storage shed thus far I have current lists online at http://www.geocities.com/pammyk600/ which will be updated frequently.
- Where you live: Gilbert, AZ
- How you found the forums: no brainer there
- What your favorite games are: 2600 Adventure and Stampede, coin-op Amidar
- What systems you collect for: 2600 is the main love but all the other systems are hard to pass up on in the wild.
- What you do in "real life": former computer geek turned mom.
Happy Gaming!

My name is Raymond, I am a 17 year old student in 11th grade and live in East Stroudsburg, PA. Well I found this place when I was just randomly browsing Game sites via goolge search. I love anything related to Video Games more Specifically Sega and Sonic. Some of my favorite games in no particular order: Sonic 1, 2, and 3, Asteroids, Missile Command, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Tetris, Super Mario Brothers, Mortal Kombat 2, Soul Caliber, Frogger, Galaga, Space Invaders, GTA 2, 3, Vice, SA. Now own the collecting side of things Ill take anything I can get for any system even if I don't have it. I started getting into Video games with my first Game boy in 1990 I was 3 at the time and I loved it, I moved up to my Mom and Dads NES 1991 and The same time I got a Sears Atari 2600 off my Aunt with it came 160 Games. Then in 1993 When I got my Sega Geniuses and I immediately fell in love with Sega and Sonic. I had quite a nice collection by the Time the PlayStation and N64 came out Unfortunately my mom decided I didn't need all my other game stuff and tossed it on me I really had no say in it being only 9 at the time. The only thing that survived that was my Gameboy witch I still have now. So as time passed I got more and more into gaming and started re buying The systems I use to have and the ones I missed out on. Also I like to add anything I buy is going to get played I see no point in dropping a bunch of cash on something and not use it for what its meant to be used for. I got a small game room I set up behind my bedroom I went out and got a Nice 32" Flattube Toshiba TV for it about 3 Weeks ago my games have never looked better. I have all my systems hooked up to it and there easy to access, also I have a late 70's couch I got for free of my grandma back there its the most comfy thing I ever sat in perfect for them long hour gaming sessions. Well I guess that's it for now please pardon my Grammar and and Sentence structure I am very tiered and my have screwed it up a bit. All thats left to say is see you guys around the boards.

I suppose I should introduce myself before I try to make any deals on the buying and selling forum :-P My names Josh, and im from southwestern Virginia, its not a fun place to live, but luckily no one knows the value of older game systems to someone like me! I ran across these boards one day just looking for random articles about the Sega Genesis and read the Extended Play article, which was pretty cool. I am currently collecting for my Sega Genesis, which I have had since 1993 :-D I also collect (slowly) for my Master System. I have an NES, but what's the fun in collecting for it, if everyone else is, besides, I already have like 80 games for it, and that was just from when I was little! You could say im a crack baby when it comes to the 8-bit/16-bit age though.

- Who you are
Vance. A 21 year old that should be studying for finals.
- Where you live
Well, when I'm at school I'm in Pullman, WA (about 8 months of the year for the last 3)
Home (where I go when I'm not in Pullman) is in Prosser, WA
(eastern side of Washington State, a better reference is that Prosser is about 30-50 miles West of the Hanford Site)
- How you found the forums
I can't really remember. I saw the DP stuff and when browsing the Saturn games that one can listen in a CD player decided I wanted to add 2 games I didn't see.
- What your favorite games are
Oh, tough one. Favorite seems to always change depending on what system I've played recently. I will have to say Super Mario Land for the GB is one that stands out. As for other favorites, I dunno.
- What systems you collect for [I'll break it down by maker]
NES, SNES, N64, GCN, GB, GBA
Genesis, Saturn, DC, GG
Playstation, Playstation 2
XBox
Although I'm working more on the older systems at the moment. These are just systems I own and have games for at the moment
- What you do in "real life"
College Student(attempting to major in Electrical Engineering), and computer tech for the on campus student computing services (they are the helpdesk for undergrad students, run some general purpose labs, clean computers of viruses and worms when people get their connection turned off).
Not much else real life stuff.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I think my collecting just grew on the fact that anytime I was in the local video game store I wanted to be able to rent anything in there without having to shell out to rent a system as well. I don't think it was an initial goal to collect games, it was more to get the systems to play them. Although in the last few years the video rental store was just become horible, so I find myself buying more games. Plus I'm starting to want some of the systems that the rental place never had(like the Saturn, or any handhelds).
If anybody wants to know why "Swatty," it was left over from a high school class when I was "swat01." SWAT stood for something like "Students With an Aptitude/Attitude for Technology." The administration realized some students knew more than they did on computer stuff, so they got the students to help.
Great place here, I hope I can gather and contribute useful information.

Hey all.
My name is Dion Hicks, I'm 21 and have been playing games for 17 of those years. I live in Newfoundland Canada, and no I don't live in an Igloo or ride a dogsled. I'm a university student studying computer engineering and one day hope to become a game programmer myself. I mainly enjoy RPG's but I sometimes play FPS and fighting stye games, with Capcom games being my favorite. I own around 200 games, with the majority being Playstation and NES. My favorite games have to be Star Ocean 2, Xenogears and Final Fantasy 3. If you haven't played these RPG's yet, do so now. Hopefully I'll be able to pick some new games up here to add to my collection.

To be honest, I don't really have a favorite, but right now I'm playing Harvest Moon: Back to Nature the most, so I guess that's my current favorite.

Atari 2600, Atari Lynx, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear, Playstation, PS2, Neo Geo Pocket Color
- What you do in "real life"
High school student.

I've been into video games my entire life, but I just started collecting in the last year. When I first started collecting, I had a Gamecube, Playstation 2, XBox, and SNES, plus about 50 or 60 games total. I now have 18 systems I'm collecting for, and a little over 200 games between all of them.

Jerry McKenzie turned me on to the site after a Virtual Boy game purchase. I'm a computer geek and an IT Manager for a living. Most of my background is on the emulation side of retro gaming. You know, those nuts that build their own cabinets. :) I have three. You can see two of them here: http://home.comcast.net/~cpviewer . My full size upright is not pictured. It's the one I spend most of my time working on. I have about 50 platforms running on it. Everything from the original odyssey up to the PSX, 3DO and Dreamcast. I won't talk much about roms but I have most every one. I run a front end called MameWAH and am a moderator of the ArcadeOS/MameWAH forum at Mameworld. I spend most of my time writing small application and designing graphics for the emulation community. I sure wish it wasn't generally a free contribution community. I'd be rich. :)
I also spend a lot of time on a PC gaming. We have a clan (a group of OLD (40+) college friends) that use a program called Ventrilo (voice over IP) and talk for free over the internet while we play. Our favorite game is America's Army.
As far as consoles and collecting is concerned I'm a n00b. Actually I bought my first console about a month ago because I needed a N64 controller and it was bundled. Since then I have picked up a Virtual Boy (or 2 or 3) and am starting to collect the games. I like the technology and uniqueness of the system. Oh, I forgot about the Vectrex I have in the original box and 13 original boxed games, duh.
Well that's about it for me.
Take care,
John

The name is Kuros. I've been a lurker here and I sometimes use the rarity list to check out a few things. Drummy turned me on to the forums, which I never really checked out. I've been playing video games since I was 3, my brother got an NES for his 13th and I played the system more than he did. :)
I play and collect, up to 419 games so far.

Latest thing I got was a Sega Nomad with 14 games, rechargeable pack, aaa pack, case, ac adapter, car charger and an extra controller. Working at a Gamestop has it's advantages. :D

Hello...
I'm new to these parts.. The name's Nick J. Phillips.. and I seem to enjoy old video games.. along with old music and movies.. I don't know why.. Maybe I'm just nostalgic for the things I'll never experience again. I'm 18 years old.. I've got plenty of classic systems.. but I share something special with my Sega Genesis.. even though the sound is awful. But I enjoy all my systems equally. I love the show, "Rocko's Modern Life", but I hate the God awful attempt at a video game... That's all for now.

I'm Tatton and I'm from Columbus Ohio. I typically slave away in various IT and retail jobs, but I enjoy frequenting the various game stores in town and I'm an avid collector.
My favorite consoles are the Saturn, Turbo Grafx/Duo/PC-FX, and Neo Geo (in no particular order). I started collection back in 1999 when my girlfriend at the time got Magic Knight Rayearth US for Christmas and I realized I needed a Saturn so I could play it too. It all kinda snowballed from there.
I'm currently at 1864 games and I'm creeping toward my goal of 2000 by the end of the year. My systems vary from an original Odyssey up to Xbox/PS2/Cube. I'm a big fan of fighting games and role playing games, though I'll pick up just about any import I can find that wasn't released in the states.
I think that about sums it up. If anyone's interested, my collection can be viewed at http://users.ign.com/collection/darkizet
I look forward to posting and chatting with you guys!

Whats up fellas? I'm Steve, I'm 27 years and live in San Antonio, TX and I've been looking at the site for a couple of months now. I decided to sign up when i saw how many hardcore gamers are around here. Most of my friends in town are casual gamers so it's kinda hard to talk retro gaming with some of them.
I like all kinds of video games, but my favorite franchise is the Mario series. I also enjoy sports games as well. For the past year, I have been collecting all kinds of games for all my systems. I own a NES, Game Boy, Super NIntendo, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, PS2, XBox, Dreamcast, and I'm anxiously waiting for Nintendo Revolution to arrive. I've been going to flea markets, pawn shops, and thrift stores trying to find any kinds of older games, especially Nintendo 64 games and Dreamcast.
My other hobbies are playing basketball here in town just about everyday, and spending time with the family, and also rearranging my game room everyday. Hope to talk gaming with every one soon, Laters!!
Danny
Found the place by being sent here by a fellow member at another forum on a quest for information.
Favorite games would have to be Zelda series, Shining Force, Mega Man, and Suikoden.
I collect for pretty much any system I can get my hands on, although my collection is not that large.
I do auto glass and upholstery mostly.
I started gaming and collecting when I was a little kid. A friend of my fathers and my neighbor had a NES and I became hooked from the first moment of playtime. As for actually collecting, I find it hard to let go of any game I buy. Unfortunately neccesity sometimes demands it.

Lately I've been posting a few of my items that I just dont know why I have (helly empty game boxes/manuals and a bunch of games as well). A friend of mine showed me this board about a year and a half ago (maybe more) but I never really got on and checked it out but it is definitely a tight place :o

Hey guys. My name is Jason and I'm 27. I'm mainly a Nintendo fan. My collection is mostly NES and N64, but I have quite a few SNES and GCN games also. My ultimate goal is a totally complete NES cart collection (US releases at least). I plan to get all the N64 titles eventually also, but the NES is my main focus for now. I recently added another NES test cart to the collection (the control deck cart), so I'm only missing one now (the NTF2 cart). Needless to say, I've been pretty excited the past couple of days :D . I love the site and the message boards are awesome. I'm really looking forward to being part of the community here.

I like templates, so let's go with this:
- Who you are
My name's Rob. I'd say more, but the sections below seem to be more appropriate for the type of stuff I'd usually put in this section.
- Where you live
I live in Round Rock, TX (suburb of Austin.) I live with my wife of 2 years and our baby girl of 3 months, Madison... oh yeah, and our stupid cat, Montana.
- How you found the forums
I think I was searching for a complete list of Dreamcast games a couple of years ago. I never really visited the forums though.
- What your favorite games are
Some of my favorites include (in no particular order): Final Fantasy 3 (SNES), Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Fighting (Arcade), Herzog Zwei (Genesis), Quake III Arena (PC) and Super Puyo Puyo (SFC).
- What systems you collect for
Right now I'm focused mostly on 1990's US consoles. I pretty much have every single 1990's US console hooked up to 1 TV in my game room. At last count I had 980+ games for all systems. I also own 3 arcade cabinets (Killer Instinct, Neo Geo 4 slot, and SF2 Hyper Fighting.)
- What you do in "real life"
If you're referring to work. I work at IBM Austin. On Linux power server performance. I won't bore you. If you're referring to stuff that's not video games. I've been holding weekly low-stakes Texas Hold 'Em games at my house once a week for the past 18 months or so. I'm a big Spurs fan. I watch a minimal amount of TV (I only record Penn & Teller's: BS). I do like oddball/foreign/indy movies though. I golf once or twice a month. I used to skate(board), but I tore 2 ligaments in my right knee last year. The replaced my ACL in December, and it still doesn't feel healthy enough to return to the skate park.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Nothing too interesting. How does anybody start? You just kinda start wanting to play those kick ass games from the good ol' days, right?
I would like to add that if you live in the Austin area and you're into gaming, poker or art/indy/b movies, you should really contact me. I maintain an email list of about 50 like minded people in the area. We usually get together at least once a week. Good times.

As a kid I was a rabid Nintendo fanboy but have mallowed and realise every system has games that are worth playing. I'm obsessed with games as I guess must be a common symptom here. I love to play, collect, talk, write and buy games - just wish I had more money to do this last one with.
I'm in New Zealand which is a PAL country but games are quite hard to get/pricey here a lot of the time. Been lurking here for months - look forward to contributing to some topics.

I live in Elgin, IL, im 21 years old. I lived in Boston for the first 20 years of my life. I live with my girlfriend and I just started collecting games again.
I started playing at the age of 4. When I was a kid I had two NES's, two SNES's, every new gameboy when they came out, an atari 2600, a sega genesis, a TG16, multiple tiger handhelds, NP and GP magazines, toys, etc etc etc. As I got older I sold it all or traded for newer games, this I deeply regret, I just started again this year and I no have about 65 NES games, A Top loading NES original. an SNES and about 36 games. I have the box for Final Fantasy 3 but no cart. Shadowrun cart only mint, arkanoid DOh it again mint cart only. My favorites in my NES collection are Crash N the boys street challenge mint cartridge, and the Metroid cart with yellow sticker. As my colelcting is in its early stages I'm not looking to buy any super expensive rares, that is unless I find them really cheap, I'm just trying to find games that I love to play. Liek Zombies ate my neighbors.

Hello everyone,
Im Crosman, Im 18 year's old and live in the state of Michigan.
I came across this site when I was looking for how rare some of my game's were. I decided to register since I plan on creating a Giant game room soon and making it one of the best in Michigan.
A few thing's about me.
First off, I am still doing time in high school, I will be graduating this summer. The reason that I am graduating latw is because I have a disease called Chrones. I missed out on alot of school and it really tore my career up. (If you would like to know some more about this, PM me.)
Second, Next year I will be attending ITT tech, I will be going to school for game design/Character disign. I have so many idea's locked up in my head, it's madness.
Third, I am currently a Moderator at a pokemon website called Psypoke and I plan on making my presence hear as often as possible.
Last but not least the more general things about me.
I am a big sports buff, I love sports and have played them since birth, I also love the Ninja turtle's more then life itself.
I have alot of knowledge on wildlife, I worked at the the toledo Zoo for a few day's but gave it up due to some personal reason's, so if any of you fella's or ladies need any animal advice Ask away!!!
I will finish this off by saying I have a girlfriend, plan on moving out this summer and getting married next summer, my (to be) wife is great and supports me with everything I do, she hope's I land a job with Nintendo some day.
Same with me.
Look forward to talking to everyone. 8-)

I try really hard not to be a fanboy, but somtimes it gets the best of me. Been lurking this site for a while now, so I thought I'd join up, and get in on some of these threads.
As for my street cred, I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 (I am 26), and I write game reviews for the Daily Nebraskan, the University of Nebraska campus newspaper.
Right now my favorite game is Resident Evil 4. Can't get enough of mercanaries!

My name is Darren. I'm a long-time gamer (16K Spectrum onwards). I enjoy all genres of games but am particularly keen on shmups & 2D platformers.
Although I own an MD/Snes/N64/GC I mostly play PS1 and PS2 titles and am currently actively collecting PAL PS1 titles.
My other interests are mostly music and comedy.
I live in the UK and first visited this site for PS1 info before coming across this forum.
I'll probably never be a particularly prolific poster but I lurk daily. Hopefully I'll meet a few likeminded gamers and swap minutae about PS1 titles.
Should be fun!

Hello everyone. My name is Ian, I'm 27, and I was born, raised, and currently reside in Atlanta. I've been an avid console gamer since the heyday of the 2600. I own quite a few consoles and collect for all of them, but I primarily focus on DC, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, and PS2. I also own a GCN, Xbox, N64, NES, Jaguar, Jaguar CD, 32X, Virtual Boy, Game Gear, Gameboy Advance SP, Lynx, Nomad, NGPC, 3DO, Turbo Duo, and Turbo Express.
I really don't have a favorite system; I simply enjoy great games, regardless of what console they happen to be made for. I am currently a part-time student and journalist, with the majority of my writing consisiting of game reviews for various websites.

Wow, two Ians introducing themselves in a short time...
Yeah, my name's Ian. I'm 19 years old and I live in Fargo, ND. My favorite game of all time is Star Control 2 on the 3DO. I've played through it two or three times a year for the last seven years, I like it so much. I own an Atari 2600, NES, SNES, N64, Virtual Boy, Gameboy Advance, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, 3DO, Playstation 1 & 2, and XBox. Considering my age and lack of funds, I think my collection is pretty decent.
By day in the real world, I'm a telemarketer - the scum of the earth- and by night, I'm the vocalist in a grindcore band. I just recently got back into game collecting after my DVD collecting spree. I go in collecting waves. I'm obsessive in my collecting, no matter what it is. I use what I collect, though. I buy games to play them, not to look at them sitting there
I'm hoping to have a good time here. Thanks in advance!

My name is Steve and I'm a gaming addict. (Hello Steve) Well not really, but I collect all console and portable games from NES to present. My collection is my pride and joy. I'm a happily married Support/Development tech for a small company and I live near Orlando FL.
What are the odds that UrQuan would post right above me? I've been collecting for about 5 years now and I owe it all to Star Control 2 for the 3DO. That game changed my life.

06-16-2005, 05:41 PM
Hi. :) I'm Audigy.
As a soundcard, one would think that I'm interested in making music... but I'm not like other soundcards. I enjoy 'pixel art' related things (See homepage) and most things related to classic console RPGs. Music-related, I enjoy picking apart sound formats of PSX and PS2 games. The results of this can also be found on my homepage. :)
I continually see references to this board from friends I have in the NES collecting scene, so I figured I'd come check it out more in-depth (yeah, my account's been around a while... just haven't posted that much.)
Currently, as far as collecting stuff goes, I'm trying to complete my collection of PSX RPGs and corresponding strategy guides. I have a rule that I will never pay more than original retail price for any game... and have been pretty lucky so far.
I used to collect NES and SNES, but... emulators got advanced enough for me to not need the original consoles anymore, so off to eBay they went (many years ago, please pardon the blasphemy. :o )
Anyway, yeah, hi. :)

Hi there from Russia!
from one of the most freaking nuts jrpg collectioner. LOL
I do no collect all consoles and all games. for games - only role-playing of all kinds , for consoles - only those that have many rpg's to play :P
Since VERY LIMITED amount of original games was ever imported in Russia (in old ages and now) i have to do a lot of ebaying and totally waste all my cash onto it. :embarrassed:
I'm most concentrated on SEGA boxed and complete games with the best possible condition and i guess i have one of the best Sega MD rpg collections.
I guess rarest gems of my collection:
Sega MD - Shadowrun Asian PAL version Complete in MINT condition. Saw only 1 copy of this and grabbed it...
Sega MD - Maten Densetsu JAP complete in splendid condition. One of the rarest Sega MD RPG games every seen on ebay. Even in japanese auctions it costs not less then 45$.
Sega MD: Daikoukai Jidai 2 JAP (Uncharted Waters 2) complete.
Sega MD: Dragon Slayer JAP complete with a pin.
Sega MD: FACTORY SEALED Phantasy Star 2 with Hintbook.Costed me quite a sum of cash. But always wanted to get it sealed.Too bad i had to unseal it and to play...LOL, but it still smells good!
Saturn: Valhollian JAP complete mint
Saturn: Princess Quest JAP complete
Saturn: DeviceReign JAP complete mint
Saturn: Great Adventure JAP complete mint

Hey everyone, I'm from New Zealand, 1 of those PAL regions gamers. I specifically collect PS1 titles, right now I'm at 68. I've been collecting for just over 2 years. I try to get PAL whenever I can, but I have a few of those NTSC US games that never got a PAL release, like Lunar:SSSC. Eventually I hope to reach 100 in my collection Feel free to AIM me anytime, just tell me who you are first. Ciao.

hi! im ryan, and have been lurking these good boards for awhile now.
as with all of you, i love collecting videogames. i find it hard to pass up a beautiful piece of hardware (white saturn, yum! ). I have roughly 9 unique systems and a handful of saturns and dreamcast :)
because i am currently in school, my collection is more.. "playable" than a typical collection. while i love having mint in box items, i wont pass up that loose $2 space channel 5 disc at a gamestop bin :)
when i get some more time and money-- i would love to further my dreamcast and gameboy collections, as well as break into the 2d wonderland known as PC Engine :)
look forward to talking with all of you!

Have I posted here already? In case I didn't, I'm Matt; I've been a member here at DP for over a year (should be, at least). My main emphases for video game collecting are Super Nintendo (all regions: I may well be one of maybe half a dozen in the United States with 2 PAL-version Super Nintendo systems) and PlayStation (also all regions). I'm a respected buyer/seller/trader here at DP (can't remember how many trades I've done here, I'd guess about 10), at www.tradegamesnow.com (45 rating/100% positive, 4 currently pending trades) , and at eBay (43 rating/100% positive, 2 pending sales). The item I'm looking for the most right now? Suikoden II (PS1; any and all 3 regions' individual release of it). Have a nice day, all of you :) .

Hi, I'm George and I'm 19. I live in California. I'm going back to college in a month. I like to play classic games from the classic system from atari 2600 to the Dreamcast. This site really fits my needs. I like playing games on Nintendo and Sega systems (mostly Sega.) My favorite system is the Sega Genesis with the combination of the Sega 32x and Sega CD. I mostly play the Sonic Series and Streets of Rage. I began collecting in 2001 when I got interested in how good it is to play the good classic.

Greetings.
I collect games for most every Nintendo, Sony, and Sega console. The only ones I don't have are Sega's Pico and Gamegear, and Sony's PSP. I also have a few Neo Geo Pocket Color and Turbo Grafx games. My favorite Genres are RPGs (especially strategy RPGs) and Musical/Rhythm. My favorite RPG is Final Fantasy III/VI (whichever you prefer to call it). The last game I completed was Amagon for NES (I believe it was my second time playing through). I'm currently playing Galerians on Playstation (for the first time).

Hi, I`m a 21year-old student living in Japan right now.
I`m a gaming fan for more than 8 years now, but my interest in collecting just started like 3 years ago. I have no daddy that gives me a 1000$ each week, but I manage to keep my collection growing (especially in Japan, though its quite stupid considering that I don`t have any place to put the stuff!).
My collections mainly consists of:
Sega Saturn
Dreamcast
PC Engine DUO-R
Neo Geo
Neo Geo Pocket
SNES
Famicom
N64
Gameboy
Xbox
PSX
PS2
up till now I have like 300 games and own 14 game systems.

HI! My name is Cathie and I am from Wilkes Barre, PA. I am 28 years old, just went back to school and have crappy job at present time.
I am in love with NES!
I like anything computer related and police scanners.
I just recently bought a NES with all hooups from ebay for a few dollars. When it arrived it blinked so I used sandpaper on pins and works like new! I buy my games at a local used video game store for 2 dollars each!
I also have gamecube with some games, and several gameboys with games and a playstation with a few games and never get used.

Hey folks!
Name's Dennis (although my nick is saying something different...), I'm from Duisburg, Germany and I'm a passionate gamer!
I started off with a C64 for years, until I got a NES and a GameBoy. After that I had the SNES and I saved a lot of pocket money to buy myself a N64. After that a friend of mine wanted to get rid of his PlayStation One, so I bought it for a nice price. As I saw the pictures of the PS2 I knew, that I needed to get one them, so my mom bought me one for christmas!
Then there was nothing for quite 2 or 3 years until some buddies of mine convinced me of the quality of the Dreamcast, so I got one on eBay. After that, everything went "down the drain"! ;) I searched all 2nd hand shops, flea markets or eBay auctions to buy a Master System, a Genesis and a Saturn. As Resident Evil 4 came out, the time was right for me to buy a GameCube and now I own them all! ;) Also I have a GameBoy Advance and I'm really keen to see the next generation consoles.
Don't ask yourself why I won't be able to post here very often as I will more or less stay a silent reader! ;) Sometimes I will answer to several posts, of course.
Nice forum though and a great archieve of everything about games, this site is. I'm very impressed! :)

Hey everyone. I'm Howie, and I'm a friend of Vigilante's.
Just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself.
I went to the last "user meet" tonight (06/25/05), and had a great time. Met a lof of interesting people, had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs.
A little bit about myself... I'm from Hasbrouck Heights, I work at California Stucco in Hackensack as their Office Manager. Been a gaming fanatic since the days of Atari 2600, maybe even before that... when PONG was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I used to be very much into Turbo Grafix 16, but I am a die hard Playstation fan; had my PSOne, and PS2, and now I'm into my PSP.
Some of the classic arcade games I used to love playing were/are Ms PacMan, Donkey Kong, Centipede, and Jungle King.
How did I find DigitPress? Well, Vigilante (Nick) told me about it, so I thought I'd check it out... and I'm glad I did.
By the way, thanks Joe for a really cool time. You've got a very imressive collection... it's right up there with my DVD movie collection.
Anyway, I hope to see you guys in the chats often.

I'm Duane and I'm 43 years young, I live in Washington state and have 2 kids, (both who love video games). I've been playing video games since the 70's, ever since pong came out. After that I was hooked. I've played games on the old Radio Shack computer, Apple, Zenith 248's with 16 colors, all the way up to main frame computer text games. I've seen the advanced in computer graphics, from the old monocrome screens, through cga, vga, and xga, all the way to the modern svga's. I can't wait till someone invents a holodeck program, now that would be cool. I'm always on the look out for the latest and greatest video games. My favorite one's are mainly RPG's and stratagy's/simulations, like CIV and MOO.

I'm ZeetherKID77, I'm from Florida. I first started gaming when my parents gave me a blue Game Boy Pocket and Kirby's Dreamland 2 for my birthday a looong time ago. I eventually heard about Pokemon, and my videogame journey pretty much started there. I like RPGs, "quirky" games like Katamari Damacy, puzzle games, fighting games (especially SSBM), classics, and compilations (my favorite is Megaman Anniversary Collection). I currently own a GBASP, a Nintendo DS, a GCN, original GB, GB Pocket (a silver one, I sold the blue one), GB Color, Genesis, a PC, and a PS one. My other interests include model trains, cars, and drifting. My favorite car is the Toyota Trueno AE86 (Hachiroku), and my favorite anime/manga is Initial D. I found out about the forums when I was reading the DP Collector's Guide Advance (very well done, might I add).

06-27-2005, 08:04 PM
Helloooo...I'm Gaz and I just joined because this is a kick-ass site and I wanna talk to fellow gamers and use the guides on this site. I was never a gamer as a young kid and since my parents were cheap I didn't have a big selection of games, so believe it or not, I didn't even know about Castlevania or Metroid let alone some of the other classics until about 5 years ago! (I know, it's sad). I'm 20 now, and I got my first system when I was 8. I asked for a Nintendo and my dad brought home a used Atari 5200 he got off a friend, with Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man. That's it. But I didn't care. I did finally get an NES, and later a Genesis and years after a PlayStation, but we never bought a ton of games for any of them. The N64 lit a fire in my heart for gaming when I got one for Xmas w/Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and I finally became a gamer. I was, like, 14 or 15 at the time. Then I decided to replace all the lost systems my parents trashed and finally get the ones I was denied when I was younger. I also started to find out about obscure systems I'd never heard about. I then realized I wanted to own as many systems as I could. My collection is still quite modest due to lack of funds and space, but it's at a nice even 14: NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, XBox, GameBoy Advance SP, DS, GameGear, Lynx and NeoGeo Pocket Color. Collectively I have 340 games and that's including playable demos, TV Games joysticks and 2 Game&Watches. I've finally played a lot of the games I missed out on as a kid and living up to the standards of a true gamer.
I'm in Massachusetts, and I have the pleasure of working in the video game dept of my local Toys R Us. My boyfriend and his brother, also hardcore gamers, work at GameStop, so we always get some good deals on games and free promotional items. I go to Berklee College of Music and aspire to be a music teacher or a rock star, so video game theme music is one of my loves since it marries my two biggest pastimes together.
I also geek it up hardcore with Star Trek, anime, fantasy, Cartoon Network, Jhonen Vasquez comics (I got my name from his cartoon Invader Zim), Monty Python and anything to do with Bruce Campbell.
I can tell I'm going to like it here. A lot.

I'm Nate Nanjo, from Georgia, been a gamer since I was little, but didn't get hooked until I got my SNES. I'll be 20 next month. I'm finally able to start my game collection with out my parents interfear. To bad its small, I only have a complete Playstation RPG section for now :(
Hope to get know more gamers.
And my favorite game may be a bit obvious

Hell everyone, not much to say. Been gaming ever since I was little (am 30 now), became an involved collector past hmm 2 years?
I bounce back and forth to different sites, usually don't post just read. Do most of my buying through auctions and order through internet sites.
Figured should do a quick intro before I start buying/trading here.
Favorite systems to collect for Atari 5200, Apple II and of course NES!

Heya
I'm Jon from Nor Cal. I just signed up here, though I've been lurking for a bit. I'm a regular over at Atariage, so you can guess what I collect, right? 8-)
I've been a game since about '83 when my family first picked up a 2600, and I've never stopped. I've got a 1000+ or so games currently, mainly Atari systems Intellivision, and NES, with plenty of other random crap thrown in. You get the idea.
In my day job, I work with folks who have developmental disabilities and mental health problems. I manage about 12 crews that help these clients learn job and behavioral skills so that they can live independantly.
At home, I often hike, play games (big surprise there), write, and get bit by my cat, who is quite evil and insane. Kind of like me LOL
Nice meetin' y'all!

Hello,
I am 22 and from Omaha, NE. My collection now stands at a little over 560, which is more than anyone I know, but can't be the biggest in the city. Aside from the obvious video game obsession, both new and old, that brought me here in the first place, I love reading, writing, anime and ar games like Axis and Allies and RISK.
As for other game related forums I go to, only Game Informer (as InformedFS) and the 167 member Hole, which I help Moderate. Now I have finally decided to join your forums here.

Hi all,
just wanted to let you know that I;ll be crawling through the forums in the future.
The name is Martin, I'm 26 and from Germany. I've been playing videogames since my early childhood, but my first own system was the Dreamcast. Right now, I have some more systems from Pong clones, 8bit to next gen and handhelds with a total of a mere 200 games.
Action Adventures and Racing Games are my favourites.

Hey there everybody, my name is Mike if you hadn't guessed. My wife (Rachel) and I have been gaming since the Atari 2600, although not together until right before the PS2.
We live in Eastern Washington where I work at Merlyn's- a comic, book, and game store (mostly rpgs, tabletop wargames and the like) and my wife works for the USPS.
Our collection contains stuff from the 2600, NES, PS, PS2, X-Box, and PSP. We also have a bunch of PC games and even some for the old Apple IIe in storage.
I found this site about a week ago after moving some boxes around the house and found my NES, then busted it out and started replaying Final Fantasy.
Later, Mike

Davepesc here, I've been a lurker for quite a while, but I've decided to go live. I am most interested in all things Sega and the Atari 2600.
My latest interest has been the Sega CD, which I finally got last month.

Even with all of the new fancy systems coming out, I still like going back to the classics that made me the gamer I am. My favorite console is STILL the Super Nintendo and is probably the most played console in my apartment. I am currently building up my NES, SNES, and Genesis collections, finding rarities here and there. The pride and joy of my collection is probably Castlevania:Dracula X on Super Nintendo. I spent three years looking for this elusive game, and I finally got it in March 2004.
My favorite game series is Castlevania. It is the only series of games I have the entire collection of (minus Rondo of Blood). That and Silent Hill. I love horror-themed games.
In real life I like movies, books, and drawing my own artwork. Videogames have been a part of my life for a long time and really has been the only hobby that had stuck with me since my childhood. That and drawing.
Well that's me in a nutshell. I look forward to meeting everyone on the board!

hi my name is justin and i'm 25 years old. i am a recent college graduate and i started teaching 3rd grade about 6 months ago. i also just got married last month, so its been really busy in my personal life.
i have been an advid gamer since around '92 when i first got my snes. i started out with the nes back in '85 or '86 but i really fell in love with snes. since then i have collected about 9 consoles which include the snes, genesis, 32X, GCN, DC, PS1, PS2, N64, and an XBOX. i also have a Gameboy Adv. but i never got into that handheld. I have 278 total games for my systems which are valued at around $5200.
I really got into collecting video games for rarity and value but mostly for fun back in 2001. It has been an adventure since. Some of my biggest finds include Chrono Trigger and Earthbound for the SNES recently.

I've been lurking around here for a little bit, but finally decided to join in on the fun...
I'm 24 and from the DFW Texas area. I've been playing video games since I was a little kid, back in the Atari/NES days. I'm now a pretty avid moviewatcher, and have a job at a local television station... video games have become my hobby outside of mass media.
I mainly stick with Nintendo systems, and have just here recently started "collecting" for the DS, so expect most of my posts to be related to that system in particular, or at least just Nintendo systems in general.

Hello!
I'm McBacon, I'm pretty new. I have a small, but growing collection of around 100 games. The reason is, I only collect what I want to play.
I'm the UK, and I hope to join in on the mid week/weekend topics, and take some photos like Caut does.
Hi everyone!!
I am Pick and I love programming.
I also like playing video games, my favorite games are Animal Crossing: Wild World and Digimon world 4.

Hi everyone, my name is Paul, I'm from Madison Wisconsin. I just found this site from a link someone sent me of the collection photos, I snooped around the site and I was hooked! I'm 29 and am currently in school, I am in the process of trying to find a job right now, and I am also married.
I guess I wouldn't consider myself a collector, so much as a guy who made many dumb sales mistakes in his youth and now wants to repurchase them. I have been playing games since my parents bought an Atari 2600 back in the day, then was turned on to the NES and Master Systems. First home computer was a TI/99 4A with a HUGE disk drive and cart slot! I love all sorts of games, mainly RPGs, shmups and old school platformers. I hope to meet many new people and form some good friendships and chat buddies!

hi everyone, chris here. I recently got into collecting systems that I used to own or never owned as a kid. I have been buying for around a year now. I think I have built myself a decent little collection in this time. I have been mainly trying to get systems complete in their original boxes. of course if I can get a good deal on an unboxed system that I want I won't pass it up. the other thing, I'm only getting the systems that I know I'll play at one time or another. no getting every system ever created for me - mainly because I just can't afford it.
I'll try to post a list of what I currently have if anyone is interested.
Hi everyone, I'm from Quebec. I'm 21 and I've been playing games since I was 4. I've had a lot of consoles since then (Atari 2600, NES, SNES, N64, GCN, GB, GBA, DS, SMS, Gen, Saturn, DC, GG, PS2, Xbox, TG16, 3DO). However, I've been having less and less fun with the vast majority of modern games, mostly because I especially like simple games (read: no need for twenty different buttons), I hate cutscenes (what I like to call "interpassivity") and I love fantasy / hate realism, find sprites charming / polygons bland, adore 2D/ despise 3D, like collecting huge cartridges and totally hate CD loading times. To this day the NES remains my favorite system of all time. Pretty convenient, since there are so many great, cheap games available seemingly everywhere. On the other end of the spectrum, I also own what I consider the mecca of video games, that is a Neo Geo MVS arcade cabinet. Neo games are, on the contrary, expensive and hard to find, but just as great. This is fairly new to me, and discovering the Neo has been my greatest video game-related joy since the end of the Super NES. I'm stuck in an 8-to-16-bit vortex 95% of the time, and proud of it! However, I'm not totally grumpy yet. Some fairly recent games that I really like are Serious Sam, DDR, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Wario Ware, War of the Monsters, Ninja Five-0, and the Aki wrestling games on the N64 (especially No Mercy).

Hi! I'm Mikko, 22, from Finland. I'm student, studying energy technology at the university. I spend my time playing video games and reading books. I usually read scifi novels or short horror stories.
I have been playing games since Christmas 1992. I wanted a NES for Christmas present, but I got Mega Drive II with Sonic 2 instead. Since then I have been Sega and Sonic fanboy. My favorite games are Ecco: The Tides of Time, Sonic 2, Nights, Super Mario Bros. and Tetris. I like all kinds of games, but I especially love platformers, adventure games and RPGs.
I have been collecting since last December. My collection is still pretty small, only about 150 games, but it's growing steadily. I primarily collect for Saturn and secondarily for Mega Drive, then for other Sega machines. I'm also interested in NES, SNES and PC-Engine, but at the moment I can't afford to collect for them.

Its pretty cool how the first games you play stick with you, and plan out the types of video games you will like when you are older.

Hey hey, my name is Logan O'Neill. I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I'm currently unemployed and extremely lazy, but I'm planning on possibly taking something computer related at the community college here in the near future.
A friend of mine has been telling me about this place, so I figured I'd check it out and see what its all about. I'm not really a collector, though I could see myself collecting sometime in the future. As far as console goes, I havent done much gaming in recent years, mostly PC gaming.
My favorite games would have to include just about every Final Fantasy game 7 and below, Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Soul Calibur.

Hi, my name is Annie and I live in Maryland. A couple of co-workers have told me about this site. I don't know what videogame subject/thread I should ask this inso I ask it here. I never owned a handheld system. I was thinking of buying a Gameboy Advance, DS, or a PSP. Besides games(My fav game is a Bust-a-Move), what should I need to look for in handheld system?

Hi, new to the site. I've never posted on a forum like this but it seems like a nice friendly big-happy-family type of thing so why not?
Who you are / Where you live
26, London England
How you found the forums
Googlepoodle
What your favorite games are
2D shmups, and anything with NINTENDO written on it. Best games? Looking through the games I have, the desert island ones would be... Balloon Fight [Balloon Trip mode only though!], Super Mario Kart, Soul Calibur 2 [GCN], Outrun 2, New Zealand Story, Pac Man, Super Mario Land [GB], Power Stone 1, Advance Wars 1, ISS64, Metroid Fusion, Pikmin 1&2, Championship Manager in all its forms, Crazy Taxi [DC/GCN], Ridge Racer 4, Gradius V, Psyvariar Complete [PS2 PAL], Puzzle Bobble [ARC], Bangaioh [DC], Axelay... pretty big island!
What systems you collect for
Cheapest way to start off is by collecting current gen as it's released i reckon - so I've been amassing a 'cube collection while getting hold of older games that I like. Got all my old consoles - 26-odd at last count, and games to go with them, just not all mint/boxed/etc. Have been in the game for a while, just starting to take it seriously!
What you do in "real life"
Work far too hard - for a nice amount of £. Can't complain!
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Compulsive hoarder, who failed to grow out of computer games...

Hi, i'm Paul from England - even though i've surfed here for a while - I have only just joined the forum.
Found the forums originally through a link exchange with an old website that I ran.
Grew up with the Commodore 64 as my main games machine after my Parents bought it for me as a birthday present!, then moved to the Amiga, and finally PS2 and PC.
Favourite games, Thing On A Spring!, LCP, and Bruce Lee (on C64), Settlers, Monkey Island (series) (on Amiga), Grand Theft Auto (on PS2/PC), Dark Forces (on PC) and loads of others I can't remember!
Collect mainly Commodore related stuff.
I Run the TCZ retro-gaming website for Commodore 64 :) , involved in various computer programming projects and work full time with computers.
Wrote a number of computer programs over the years - the only one that ever made money was Ilinios on the Amiga! Best 15 minutes of fame was a write up in a national daily paper about a tv related website site that I did... 8-)
Began collecting when I was about 12 - haven't stopped since! :embarrassed:
My website can be found at: http://www.the-commodore-zone.com

Hi, I'm William from Tennessee. I've lurked on and off for a while, but just now decided to make an account. I found the site from a link on GameFAQs. Originally, my only interest here was the online rarity guide, but it's clear that has changed.
By system, my favorite games are:
Odyssey^2- Baseball
Vectrex- Mine Storm
NES- Life Force/Zanac/Castlevania
SMS- Bomber Raid
Genesis- Beyond Oasis/Castlevania: Bloodlines/SSF2
SNES- HyperZone
32X- Space Harrier
Saturn- Warcraft 2
PS1- FF Chronicles
Dreamcast- Looney Tunes: Space Race
PS2- Sega Classics Collection/Gradius V
GC- FF:CC/LoZ: Four Swords Adventures/RE4
Xbox- Morrowind GotY Ed.
PC- UT2004
GB- Kirby's Dreamland/MM2
Game Gear- Super Columns
GBC- Mario Tennis
GBA- Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
DS- Yoshi Touch & Go
Specifically, I collect 32X since there's so few US releases (and I've found almost a third in less than a year of looking,) but I'll buy anything that looks interesting, provided I have the money for it (and that doesn't only apply to videogames.)
In real life, I work for a school supply company. Boring work (specifically going from school to school,) hard labor, decent pay, and the occaisional pretty teacher (during the summer delivery period) sums it up. Not a full-time job, but definitely not bad for a high school student.
I really never considered myself a collector until I bought my 32X and even now that's all I consider myself a collector of, despite having almost 50 NES games, an Odyssey^2, a Vectrex (only set me back $50 if I might add,) and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy for the 32X (nowhere close to the rarest 32X game, but I knew how bad it was when I bought it.) I definitely wouldn't have as many games as I have if it weren't for the great deals a couple of local stores often have.

Hey, I'm Karl from Michigan. I was looking on eBay for rare Atari 2600 games when I found mention of this site, so I checked it out and here I am!
I have been a video gamer since I first played Joust, Pac-Man, and Burgertime in the arcade at about age 2. My favorite games are the original Megaman series for the NES, the first 3 US Final Fantasy releases (not counting Mystic Quest), Secret Of Mana, Chrono Trigger, the original 3 NES Castlevania titles, Super Mario Bros 1-3, Super Mario World, Faxanadu, and too many others to list at the moment!
At present, I collect any games and consoles I can find:
-I have 5 NES consoles (4 original, 1 top loader) with over 230 games and a myriad of controllers and accessories;
-an Atari 2600 console with over 30 games;
-5 Genesis consoles (2 model one, 1 model one with "High Definition Graphics" around the cartridge portal, 2 model two) with over 80 games, about 20 controllers, and a bunch of other goodies;
-4 Super NES consoles (3 original, 1 new model) with tons of controllers, etc., and approximately 55-60 games;
-A Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance with over 25 games between them;
-A Nintendo 64 console with over 30 games and a few beat-up controllers;
-A Sega Dreamcast with about a dozen games, a few rough controllers, and a broken VMU;
-A PlayStation 1, original model, with over a dozen games, a couple of controllers, and several memory cards;
-A Gamecube with about 10 games, a few controllers, and a couple of memory cards.
Well, I work, and am going back to college in the fall (hopefully). When I'm not working, I shop around at thrift stores and eBay, looking for new games to add to my collection :D

Hi, the Nugget has arrived. I live in the good ol' US of A in the state of Pennsylvania. I collect Sega systems and games for Sega systems. I am a die-hard Sega fan, and of course, my favorite video game character is Sonic. The one thing that would make my life complete is Sega making a second Game Gear, but we know that won't happen. :( Ah, so there you go, that is me.

I hope that the rarity list does not rule all here but it probably does. Please be gentle as I am a college student who just wants some good games to pass the time between semesters.
Thank you all.

Hey, Phil here from Texas. I've lurked this site for about three or so years now and I felt it was time I finally posted for a change. :p
I can't say I'm the biggest collector here, but my modest collection is growing day by day.
I'm into Castlevania, Metroid, and pretty much anything that has to do with Sega. Used to not be a Sega fan but in recent years I've found I really do like them. The Saturn and Genesis/32X are my favorite to collect for. DC is a close third.
I'll eventually post my room of doom once I get it in order. Until then I look forward to talking to you guys and gals. :)

Hey, everyone. I'm VG_Maniac...also known as Aaron. I'm 22 years old, and live in Washington state. I sill live at home (doesn't bother me), work part-time, and go to school part-time. I have been playing games since the original Super Mario Bros.... and that's basically my whole life. I grew up on the NES, then the SNES and so on. Even though I've been gaming for 18+ years...I didn't really start getting serious about collecting until a couple of years ago. My collection is pretty decent sized...but nowhere near as impressive as some of the crazy collections I've seen on this site. I'll probably post pictures of my "Bedroom of Doom" once my collection grows a little bit more.
The systems that I own are:
Intellivision
Atari 2600
Atari 7800
NES
Game Boy
Super NES
Virtual Boy
Nintendo 64
Game Boy Advance
GameCube
Genesis
Saturn
Dreamcast
Playstation
PS2
As for my favorite game of all time...probably a tie between Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
My favorite console of all time is the Super NES.

07-26-2005, 05:27 AM
Hi I'm Jim, aka cityside75. I've been a longtime lurker and occasional poster, and figured it was about time I posted here.
I'm 34 years old, so I've been around just about since the beginning. My first non-pong system was an Intellivision in 1980, which my parents bought for the family for xmas. I still have that original system and an Intellivision 2, along with an NES, SNES, N64, PSX, Saturn, Dreamcast, Xbox, and PS2. I've also been a long time computer gamer - I have a C64, C128, and a bunch of PC games. Oh yeah, I also have a GBA and an Atari Lynx.
Some of my all time favorite games are:
Starfox - SNES
Super Mario Series (8 & 16-bit)
Rez - DC
Doom - PC
GTA 3 and beyond
Half-Life series
Robotron - Arcade
Samurai Shodown 2 - Arcade
Mortal Kombat 2 - Arcade
But my first love was always the arcades of my youth, therefore my current favorite toy is my HotRod SE and my complete MAME collection. It's been a hit with everyone else too.
Unfortunately I don't get nearly enough time to play the games anymore, as I am married with two children and I am attempting to get a new business off the ground. My company, New Perspective Data Solutions focuses on Geo-demographic analysis.
I'm a lifelong Chicagoan and a diehard Cubs fan, and I love DP - it's one of the few websites that I try to check out for at least a few minutes every day.
Keep up the good work everyone!

My name is Justin Viskoc.. aka BookMasterJMV.. or Bookie. I'm 20 and work full-time at the Circulation department of a library in Henderson, Nevada -- just outside of Las Vegas.
Came here via Roger (Rogmeister)'s blog. We both frequent Pat Lewin's ezBoard.
Game-wise, I don't play anymore. However, I do vividly remember such games as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the first ones and the other arcade-style ones), Tetris, Legend of Zelda, Duck Hunt. Ah, memories. :)
Originally came here for the arcade, but saw I have to get these points to get into the arcade. LOL Guess I'll have to post a bit.

I'm Jason from Fort Wayne, IN. I've been into gaming my entire life, but I just started to collect. I want to get some of the systems that I never had. I'm also interested in movies, game and movie soundtracks, books, and anime. I hope to enjoy my time on this forums as much I've enjoyed the CAG forum and the IGN forums.

Hi All! I am new to here. My name is David and I live in Wellington, FL. I have been on the Neo Geo Forums for over 4 years and have plenty of feedback there as neogeofl. I picked gauntletwarrior here to go with my eBay account, which has 100% Positive feedback there also, and because I love Gauntlet Arcade Games. I have a Gauntlet Legends and Gauntlet Dark Legacy (coming soon) Cabs in my house. I also own a Neo Geo AES, NGCD, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, and so on. I love games and have been playing them for over 25 years now. I have twin 5 year old boys that I am breaking into games also. Anyway, just wanted to intruduce myself and make some more friends! Thanks!

Ha. Forgot about the introduction. Been on for about a week now. A few of you already know me( and most of you that do are probably pissed off at me.) Anyways, my name is Jacob and I like the Halo games(who doesn't???). I live in Arkansas. And this state is not full of stupid hillbillies and rednecks. I HATE it when I see stuff like that on movies and shows and stuff. Anyways....toodles.

Hi I'm new to this board so I'll introduce myself. My name is David and I'm from Shaker Heights, OH. I have been into video games since I was little. My first system was the atari 7800. I enjoy classic video games as much as I do the new ones. I am still really into Nintendo and have been working to refurbish my old system and games so that they work again. I am starting to collect more classic games now in addition to the ones that I previous owned. I have started a website listing games that I am selling the URL is www.angelfire.com/games6/davidsclassicgames. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Hi, I'm Famicoman. I first came into contact with DP from AtariAge. I was interested in, and bought the collectors guide, and the advanced guide a few months later, when it came out. I recently thought I should cover all bases, and become a member here too.

Hello. My name is Steven. I currently live in Illnois. I have lived here for about 8 or 9 years. I grew up in Parkridge, Illnois. Great place. My buddy Uzi 9mm mention this site to me. I never really get into "Classic Gaming" but once he showed it to me. I was blowed away. This site is truely AMAZING. I got some favorite games. Halo2 of course, MLB 2k5, NBA 2k5, and plenty more I cant remember at the moment. I own Xbox (2). My first one broke so I gave it to my older brother whos 20. Then I got a new one for this last Christmas. I also have Gamecube, Nintendo 64, Genesis, Sega,Dreamcast and a bunch others. I dont have a job right now. But I hope to get one in the next year or so. I'm a Freshman this year. Cary Grove Highschool is where I go. I got into gaming. Hmm, I dont remember off hand. But It was probably my brother who I always used to watch. I started off with the old old systems. Then when I got into gaming more I relized it was a bunch of fun. Then I got a Nintendo Gamecube. Then I got a Xbox. I was amazed how sick the system is. Im looking forward to the Xbox 360. Well, I hope you all good people had a good time reading this long write up. I'm looking forward to be posting and asking stuff or helping on this wonderful site. See you guys around.

Wow. Over 2200 posts and I don't think I did this one! If I did it's probably somewhere in the middle, and honestly I don't want to go through every post to look for mine.
So just to be sure, I'll do it here.
I'm the RetroYoungen, a.k.a. Kevin S., and I've from Vacaville, CA (a half-hour from Sacramento and about an hour from San Francisco). I've lived in CA my entire life, and I've loved most of it. I just turned 21 this year (August 6th to be exact). I've been playing video games since I was 2 at Christmas of 1986 on an NES (I was Luigi, so I love the little greenie probably more than his brother).
I collect for pretty much every console I can, 18 in total (though hopefully that number will go up after CGE this year). I have about 660 games at this point but I need to go over them all to make sure I've counted every one into my computer.
I'm an English major at the local community college, almost ready to transfer to Sac State. At this point in my life, I want to become a teacher at the college level. I've written one novel, plenty of poems (and not just "angsty" poems), short stories... I just like to write.
And I write reviews in my blog on DP here, so if you want to read any reviews of mine go ahead and check it out. :)

Just thought I would say 'hello' being that I am a newbie here.
I learned about this site through Atariage.com I have been a member at AtariAge for a long time now. I was out of the 'collecting market' for a bit there because of a divorce but I thik I'm making a comeback now. I have sold a lot of my extra stuff lately... but I stil have my main collection together.
I collect for the three systems:
1. Atari 2600 (300 plus games + @ 100 games for trade)
2. Atari Lynx (63 unique games)***
3. Vectrex (8 games)
*** Atari Lynx.... Recently made a mistake and sold 11 sealed games that I forgot I didn't have doubles of. I am kicking myself for that. I only needed a few ridged carts and clat carts from completing my commercially released set.
I have other systems as well: PS2, PSOne, Dreamcast and a few others. I think for the most part I will be collecting ONLY handheld stuff in the future (Lynx, Turbo Grafix Express, Nomad, etc.). I will keep my current stuff, but will not get anymore 'consoles' beyond the next-generation consoles.
The Nomad is a wonderful system. There are a lot of good games for that system, so I regret selling it. The TG Express... well... I know nothing about Turbo Grafix stuff... but I think it is interesting, so eventually I'll dive into that market. I also liked the Sega Game Gear... but I'm not sure if I will collect for it again.
At one time I had something like 12 Atari Lynx systems and over 150 Lynx titles. Not to mention all of the extra stuff (manuals, pouches, carrying case, ac adaptors, com-lynx cables, etc). But I am basically down to what I have for my collection now and that is it. I still have four or five systems... so i may sell those off. Who knows. Interested? Shoot me a PM or something.
Well... that is it for me. My GF's mother used to work in an Atari assembly plant at one time. Used to bring home games all of the time from work... (a lot of Activision titles). She is digging those out for me and I'm anxious to see the results. They won't be for sell... but if need be and if by chance I have loaners or prototypes... I'll get them dumped to see if they are anything new.
Take care....

Hey there all. Name's Marco or DM, depending on when you met me. If you've met me. Wait.
I'm registered and now lurking, waiting for more strategy guide threads. It's the Versus thread here (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27559) that brought me here. Using it, I was able to get all the volume numbers without having to wait until I bought the guide or it popped up on ebay. I've got 36 guides now, and looking to finish up the collection soon. Before Thanksgiving, I hope. Money's a bit tight now. I'm thinking of selling off my Nintendo Powers to raise funds. Not too sure, though.
Game and system wise, I'm pretty good. Everything's in boxes now, so no pictures or lists. I find lists to be pretty boring anyway. I'll take some pictures when I get a free weekend or two.
I'm a diehard NGPC player, DC junkie and Landstalker master. I've recently started and forgotten about a website dedicated to my apathy for video games in general. I really should write more for it, but I'm a chronic procrastinator.

Hello, the name's Matt and I'm from Chesapeake, VA.
People who aren't familiar with the city of Chesapeake, it's near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and it's better known neighboring cities are Virginia Beach (East) and Norfolk (North). I live 90 minutes from the outterbanks North Carolina home of Kittyhawk and Nags Head.
I came accross the forums last year when looking around for video game collections to see what others had, but didn't decide at that time to join. Recently I left a few on-line communities (Like myspace) flooded with youth and ignorance, so looking for a new place to join I fell back upon here. Reviewing what this community had to offer with the wealth of information I was suckered right in.
Generally I collect and play mainstream consules and computer games but enjoy getting out to the classic arcade joints downtown and at the beach on the weekends. My favorite system would be the SNES because I have more of my favorite games on there and it's easy to find new games to add to my collection for it. Generally I will play any type of game but there's times where you just have to play a RPG or FPS (Whether it's replay or continuing where you left off).
In "real life" (AKA Reality) I'm a full time student at Old Dominion University (Best known for their Basketball Team the Lady Monarchs and science research) and working on degrees in Math, Electrical Computer Engineering, and Computer Science. Eventually I will transfer to Virginia Tech for my Masters (Go Hookies!). While this long process of learning is going on, I work part time at a cable company as a telemarketer (Of all things) and in my spare time work on cars, computers, go out, and program.
In middle and high school I wrote several dozen games and applications for the TI calculators and PC that were popular by other classmates. Some games were clones like Pac-man, Mine Sweeper, Snake, and a casino game with a few original slot machines, cards, and table betting games that kept track of several savable accounts. My biggest hit was an adventure platform consisting of 29 puzzle maze levels that I ported to the TI-82. Even though I haven't made games recently, I still place ideas on paper for later down the road developements.
My first game system was a Sega Master System back in '91 and played the hell out of it. Growing up with just one game system and a few games, everyone else was always getting newer systems and games. This outcry for my own archive finally happened when I got my first job, buying anything familiar or adventurous I could at low prices. Within 2 years I collected over 400 games on 13 different systems and continue to do so.

Hello everyone,
My name is Loren and I currently live in Sunnyvale, CA. Kind of ironic that I love video games so much, and one of the founding fathers of video gamedom began here: Atari. And oddy enough, Atari has resurfaced from the ashes... In Sunnyvale, no less. Used to be Infogrames, now Atari. The irony is so thick you can taste it!
Anyway, I discovered video games when I was about five years old or so. I saw the arcade game 'Destruction Derby' for the first time. It was set in an area of a department store that was rasied just one step above the floor and was quite at home among its older brothers and sisters, the pinball machines. There were a few other arcade games there, but this one caught my eye.
Even though the graphics back then pale in comparison to the eye-catching hyper-real style of today, the blocky caricatures of race cars duelling head-to-head in a race for survival to see who could get the most points before the time ran out was so innovative at the time, a child could not say much more than, 'Wow! Can I play?'. Kind of like how games draw our attention nowadays. ^_^
The designers knew just how to draw a person in when they played. A rumble feature that started when the game stole your quarter gave you the feel of a powerful race car engine purring excitedly, like a wild animal just barely held in check, and it felt so good against your hands that you would step full on to the acelerator and scream around the surface of the arena after your prey, completely lost to the outside world until sadly, the game ended seemingly as suddenly as it began.
Then, you would take a few deep breaths, come back to reality, then want it again, and again! Wow... So yeah, that was the beginning.
Two years later, my brother and I discovered the Atari 2600 at a friends' house. You could not keep us away from anything with a joystick for very long after that. It was nearly ten years before I actually owned my first Atari 2600. Found it at a garage sale for $5.00. It was the first console I owned. Managed a pretty extensive collection before I lost everything.
Moving forward, I met the most wonderful person in my life ten years ago, and of all things, they encourage my gaming habit. Even to the point where I had to say 'Whoah! Okay, I think I have too many games.' (I have a lot, and I am not sure if I will every play any to an extent until I am retired).
I have no favorite system as I enjoy the features of each console for their uniqueness. When I collect a game that was released on multiple platforms, I usually go with the one that looks the prettiest, or end up getting copies for each system.
What I do... Well, I could tell you but I would have to eliminate you. j/k of course, but I really cannot talk about it. However, in my spare time I like to design graphics with photoshop, play around with physical things I have drawn then scanned, make improvements. Some day I hope to be self-sufficient in that regard. ^_^ I like to write short stories, play around with HTML, sometimes offer my services as a day care provider or babysitter, create storyboards, make people laugh (but I am not a comedian), learn Japanese, collect rare and hard-to-find laserdiscs, and that is just a little bit. ^_^
Soon I should be posting the gaming stuff I have in the appropriate forum, and I have some stuff to sell too. If you wish to contact me, just PM me. ^_^

Hallo everyone!
Even though I've been a member since 2003, I've never officially introduced myself. My name is Alex, I'm 25 (as of May 29 of 2005) and I live just south of Fort Worth, TX in Cleburne.
I graduated high school in '98 as valedictorian of my small class of 32. Went on to college at the University of Texas at Arlington where I started out in architecture and loved it. But that love faded with frustration after 3 years even though my grades were good. I thus switched to Psychology. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in May of 2004. After that I became an insurance agent in property and casualty. Now, I am starting my own business in Health and Life supplemental insurance.
I began my love for collecting at the age of 10 yrs old, but NOT as a video game collector. It started with baseball cards. In particular, Topps cards. You could get 10-12 cards for 0.50 cents at the store. I did everything I could to find a Nolan Ryan. Oh the wonderful days of collecting baseball cards when it was FUN.
In 1990, I also happened to receive my FIRST NES with Super Mario Bros. 3 at Christmas! What a wonderful Christmas that was, cause I also happened to get all the Ninja Turtles with the sewer playset :D We never had much money, but my mom wanted me to have a great Christmas that year, God bless her heart. She would die in 1992 of stomach cancer at the young age of 35.
Through the 90's, I took to collecting comics and adoring Spider-man, even attaining the second holy-grail in spidey comics, Amazing Spider-man #1 from 1963! I bought it off eBay in 1998 for $1900! My FIRST eBay transaction! Unfortunately, he had advertised it as a Very Fine, but it only turned out to be a Very Good 4.0 (but when I did need money later on, I was able to sell it for $2400...I miss that comic though :( )
My resurgence into video game collecting began when I dusted off my old NES in 2001. I had money for once, so I would be able to go to the fleamarket and buy as many as I could for $3 a piece. I remember my first guide being a FuncoLand newspaper price guide, which lasted me for a year and a half. Oh good times.
As far as gaming genres that interest me: puzzles, strategy, platformers, RPG's, space and side-scrolling shooters, and quirky games that break the mold.
Favorite games include: Qix, Mario's Picross, Advance Wars 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Mega Man 1-6, Contra, Katamari Damacy, Chrono Trigger, ICO, Intelligent Qube, and many others!

Hello. I am new here. I am 15 years old, and in High School. I've been into gaming since I could hold a controller since my brother had a NES. I own:
3 NESs, 2 SNESs, 2 Genesis (model 1), 1 N64, 1 GCN, 1 PS1, 1 atari 2600 jr, 1 Gameboy, 1 Gameboy Pocket, 1 GBA, and 1 DS. I have over 270 games total.
I'm trying to get every N64 game released in North America. Right now, I only have 80.

80?! That's pretty good considering you're only 15.
Just stopping in to what's up. My collecting is more in the area of Simpsons video games, as evidenced by the site I work on: http://www.noiseland.net.
Looking through all the prototype jargon reminds me of a screenshot I saw in a magazine of a level for "Virtual Bart" that was not included in the final product. Good times.

Howdy..
I hail from the retro gaming desert that is Belfast , N.Ireland but have managed to amass a decent collection courtesy of ebay and the fact that I travel to the mainland regularly due to work (software).
I'm 39 and started way back with dedicated Pong machines (have reacquired 2 I owned via eBay), through 2600 (reacquired a woody 6 switch via eBay)- then dabbled in 8bit micros (Oric-1 and CPC-464) then returned to consoles with the NES, SNES, N64, DC and GC - was late getting into PS1 and Saturn but have good collections for them - getting some great imports for the latter (Radiant Silvergun, Twinkle Star Sprites, Parodius series - that type of thing). Have a fledgling Megadrive collection and also have a 7800 with some titles.
Favourite Genres - puzzle games, 2D shooters
Hates - bloated, po-faced FPSs (i.e. most after Quake 2) and bloody sports games.

My name is Angelique and I live in eastern Pennsylvania. I found the forums while searching info on NES prototypes one night bc they make me drool. My favorite games are MGS 1, phantasy star 3, mendels palace for nes. I collect for NES 8 bit and am up to 300 (nearly). I've done this without spending over 200 dollars total, it has taken me about 15 years to get to the point I am now. I also love my genesis. In real life i am a full time psych and art therapy major and a psych intern. i started collecting after having 40 games and a system donated to me and my family when i was about 8 years old and have loved them ever since. my current dream right now is to own a prototype withut breaking the bank...hard but not impossible. see you all around.

Hello, my names Brendan. I live in Ontario, Canada and I found Digital Press when perusing for price quotes on games I was bidding on (on ebay). Probably one of the best finds I've ever had!
I'd list what my favourite games are, but then I'd just be rambling on and on for far to long of a time, so we'll just say anything that entertains me.
I'm currently working on a Genesis and NES collection, but have lots of titles for 18 other consoles/handhelds. Hoping to finish a collection soon!
I'm currently kitchen supervisor, and am heading to school to become a Game Designer.

Hello
Yet another membre, from Belgium, old Europe.
I had been reading the boards and learning from you for a few weeks before I decided to register.
I'm not really a collector, but I like to call myself a retro gamer because I have more interest in older games than in recent releases. I own every Nintendo system since the NES, and a Sega Saturn. I particularly like the N64.
Well, that's all. Have a nice day, everyone.

Hello. I'm unicronQ from Schuyler, NE, US.
I was referred here by a friend (don't know what his user name is on here). My favorite video game systems are NES and GBA. I'm just getting into collecting NES games, and have about 34 games I think right now. I just got a new job at Wal-mart, so hopefully if all goes well, I'll be able to buy some good lots of NES games on ebay. Right now my favorite video game is Castlevania Symphony of the Night for Playstation, but I really like all the Castlevania games, and other similar games and RPGs. I've also got a Nintendo DS, Gamecube, Sega Dreamcast, a GBA SP, and a Playstation 2. I'm hoping to get an SNES and a Generation NEX before too long.
Other than video games, I also collect toys, antiques, comics, and about anything that catches my eye :P .

- How you found the forums
- What your favorite games are
- What systems you collect for
- What you do in "real life"
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

To long to list! ( Lttp, Mario Kart, Super Metriod, Star Fox these are just a few retro)
So far just NES and SNES but I'm looking into the Saturn ;)
Right now I'm in college, and I work part time at Interstate Batteries...
Well I starting missing my old games from when I was younger " SNES". I traded it to a guy at school with my games for a sega saturn which was rare in my area. I bought another one but now the games are harder to find. Thus here I am.

Hi everyone.
You may have seen me posting that in the chat over the past few days. I just found out about this site and I'm always visiting it.
I wouldn't consider myself a collector of games, but I wouldn't mind starting, just need a job first. :P

Sorry I didn't post this sooner
Hi, I'm Zack from Catonsville MD; right now I'm at college in Gambier, OH. I'm 19 (born 1986), been collecting games since I was 7. My love for gaming began when my older cousin dumped his NES on me after getting a then-brand-spanking new SNES. I was instantly hooked. Soon I was reading up on gaming history and going to Funcoland, which was heaven on earth to me, on a regular basis. At first I had no money so I had to rely on birthdays and christmas to satisfy my gaming desires. I slowly acquired more consoles as the years past: Game Boy, Game Gear, Atari 7800, my cousin's SNES (he had graduated to N64). By 2000 (I was 14), I was getting a better allowance and my collecting habit kicked into high gear. Now I have between 20-30 consoles (depending on whether you count add-ons, duplicates, etc) and a bedroom full of games. My collection is still pretty modest in comparison to others I've seen on this site since I've never had a lot of money; I haven't posted a room of doom yet since I'm at college right now.
Anyway, I found DP when I stumbled across the room of doom section which was linked to another site (sorry, I was rondomly surfing and forget which one!). I've been posting for a few months now and It's been great, kudos to all of you who have put this site together!

Hello there, I'm luffy744 (a screen name, obviously, since my mother was considerate enough to not put numbers in my real name). I'm 22, live in California, USA, and I'm a gaming addict.
It started in late '87, when we were visiting my aunt and uncle, and guess what my uncle brought home one day? A brand spanking new Nintendo Entertainment System along with Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (and back then, they even gave you *2* controllers, along with the game, when you bought a new game system). When my turn came up, I promptly ran straight, right into the first goomba. My first video game experience lasted all of 3 seconds, but that was enough to hook me (at 4 years old, it took me about 8 trys to get past that first goomba!). The following year would be spent begging and pleading for a Nintendo of my own (since this uncle lived hours away, playing his wasn't an option) and going over friends houses to play their systems. Then, Christmas 1988, what does Santa bring me? A Nintendo, Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (I loved that movie). 17 years later, and that is still the best Christmas ever.
Later on I would go on to get a Super Nintendo at launch (Not exactly sure how mom payed for that one...), but ended up returning it when I beat Mario World in a week (it didn't occur to me that I skipped over about 60 levels of gameplay goodness) and used the money on more NES goodness. But then about a year later I believe, Street Fighter 2 came out, and I ended up with another SNES, and made the horrendous mistake of SELLING MY NES AND ROUGHLY 25 GAMES TO FUND IT. I'm still kicking myself, though I ended up rebuying a NES years later.
So yeah, for the first chunk of my gaming life, I was a Nintendo fanboy (it's hard not to be when you start out with the big N at 4 years old). I eventually branched out with the Sega Genesis and Sony Playstation, but no one could touch the holy Nintendo in my mind.
Flash forward to the present, and I don't have a favorite company, thought these days I really wonder why I never saw the brilliance of Sega back in their Genesis days (too busy with Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong Country and Chrono Trigger I suppose, so the time wasn't exactly wasted! LOL )
Today I own 16 different consoles/handheld systems @_@ including PS2/GC/Xbox and roughly 300 games. My current plan is to reduce that to maybe 250 (get rid of crap/mediocre games) and begin my serious collecting of Sega Saturn, Neo Geo AES (I think I hear my wallet scratching at the door, attempting to escape LOL ) and PC Engine, because those are the ones whose game libraries most interest me at this point.
And for my own quirky mini-collection, I've set out to get a copy of every single Super Robot Taisen (a looooong running series of Japanese strategy rpgs that take the characters and robots from dozens of different anime and squish them all into a single game universe) game. This game collection spans about 10 different systems/handhelds, though I have all of them aside from the Wonderswan, so that's not a big hurdle for me. Plus, there's no big hurry on this mini-collection, since I intend on playing each of them, and each one takes me roughtly 25-100 hours to get through (plus add on the hours of anime watching to get the most out of each game!).
And I'll stop talking for now, as I'm sure most of you were -_- ing half way through this post. LOL

My name is Rohan and I hail from the outlet capital of the world, Reading, Pennsylvania.
I was born on 18th June, 1979. At that time the big arcade hits were Asteroids, Galaxian & Space Invaders.
My interest in video gaming all started in 1983. I started with the Atari 2600 and the Coleco Adam.
My very first system was a Coleco ADAM. It came packaged with Sega's Buck Rogers - Planet of Zoom. The games I owned for it were Spectron, Mouse Trap, Cosmic Avenger, River Raid & Pitfall. My ADAM died in 1991. I am currently looking for a stand-alone ColecoVision. :(
My second system was a Sega Master System. I loved the arcade conversions. The best game on that system was Out Run. I also loved Enduro Racer, After Burner, Global Defence, R-Type & Time Soldiers. I also loved those credit card-sized games. When I owned a Sega Master System, most of my friends owned Nintendos. My first SMS died in 1994. In 2002, I inherited an SMS from a friend who had no use for it. I am currently looking for Zaxxon 3D, Space Harrier, Shinobi, Power Strike, Time Soldiers, Fantasy Zone, Ghostbusters, TransBot, Vigilante, Rastan, Cloud Master, Double Dragon, Wonder Boy & Wonder Boy in Monster Land. :D
Because i felt like an outcast of society, My Third system was a Nintendo Entertainment System. I loved Super Mario Bros., Contra, Donkey Kong & Duck Hunt. To this day, my little cousin loves playing Duck Hunt. In 2003, My brother found me an ultra-rare top-loading NES. :)
My fourth home system was a Super Nintendo. I loved Donkey Kong Country and Still love that series to this day, because it was a landmark game to have such fancy animation. :)
My fifth home system was a Nintendo 64. My brother and I played GoldenEye 007 & Mortal Kombat 4. I also love the Cruis'n series, but not many games were released for the N64, because Nintendo stubbornly retained the cassette format.
My sixth system was a Sony PlayStation 2. This was the first game console to sport DVD playback. originally, I wanted to get a Sega Dreamcast, but Sega got out of the system business. I played NBA 2K2, NFL 2K2 & Crazy Taxi.
My seventh system was a Sega Genesis, which I bought in 2003. I love to play the first-original Mortal Kombat to this day. I recently added a 32X adapter and got Star Wars Arcade & Virtua Racing Deluxe. I am looking for Space Harrier & Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000. I am also looking for a Sega CD.
Now you've heard my home console stories. Let me tell you about the handhelds I played.
My first handheld was a Game Boy. Despite the monochrome screen, I loved their selection. I loved to play Tetris on the road.
My second handheld was a Game Boy Colour. I played Super Mario DX on it.
Last year, I replaced the Game Boy Colour with a Game Boy Advance. I love the Classic NES lineup. esp. Super Mario Bros. I got my brother A Game Boy SP for Christmas of 2004, because he still loves Super Mario Bros. to this day. :D
I got a Sega Game Gear this past year, because I love the French comic book character Asterix. I also love Pengo, Ninja Gaiden and Star Wars.
I would also like to add a Saturn and Dreamcast to complete my Sega system collection.
I only like the Star Wars games on the Gamecube.
I would also like to add an XBOX.

Hello fellow gamers.
My name is manuel (yeah, I registered with my real name :D ), I'm 26 years old and I'm from Germany.
Currently I live in Japan at my wife's (she's Japanese) grandpa's place until October.
In the first place I didn't mean to be a collector, but over the last 2 years I got me a little collection of hardware, because it's quite cheap to buy used game stuff in Japan. I don't have that much games per machine though.
Currently I own the following consoles and handhelds
2 Gameboys
1 Gameboy Color
1 Gameboy Pocket
1 Gameboy Advance
1 Gameboy Advance SP (Famicom edition)
1 Nintendo DS (pure white)
1 NES (European version)
1 Famicom
1 Twin Famicom (black)
2 Super Nintendos (1 European, 1 Japanese)
2 Nintendo 64s (1 European, 1 Japanese)
2 Gamecubes (1European, 1 Japanese)
1 Playstation (Japanese)
1 Game Gear (Japanese)
1 Master System (European)
1 Mega Drive I (Japanese)
2 Saturns (Japanese)
2 Dreamcasts (1 European, 1 Japanese)
1 PC Engine (Japanese)
1 PC Engine Duo-RX (Japanese)
4 Neo Geo Pockets
1 Neo Geo Pocket Color
For all that systems I own about 180 games, most of those for the SNES, which is my favourite I think.
In real life I'm still a student. My major is Japanese studies, my minors are Chinese studies and Linguistics.
I started a blog some time ago about my stay in Japan. There are some photos of Nintendo HQ in Kyoto, so I'd be glad if you had a look at my blog. :)

I collect all american and jap. systems from the 2600 and newer. I am more of a system/console collector than a game collector but I have 500 or so games.
My favorite system of all time is the xbox.

Well, I just joined so I figured I'd introduce myself. I currently collect only NES (other than my current gen PS2 and DS) but will likely start either 2600 or 7800 collecting w/in the next few months.
My systems I've owned in the past have been Odyssey 2, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, C64, NES, GB, GG, Genny, PS1, PS2, Cube, GBA, DS. We currently just have the NES, PS2 and 2 DS's (one mine, one my wife's).
I play about every type of game except most current-gen RPGs due to me tending to hate cutscenes.

'ello, i was turned on to this site while looking for a rarity listing of SNES games on the gamefaqs.com message boards.
Im not a series "take every single moment of the day about gaming" person, but i do love to play any thing i can. So far i have a NES, SNES, gamecube, and sega in my bed room, i have a PS2, and three of those old "pac-man and many other games" in one joy stick, hooked up in my living room, my brother has the PS in his room, and im about to get a xbox, and just cant wait for the revolution and PS3.
I am 16, going to turn 17 in Nov. I have a younger sister and brother, at the moment im playing soccer for my high school, and applying for a job at Sam Goodys.
I ussually use game sites for faqs and tips in the Message boards, but some time i stay around to talk.
and as of right now im still the newest user on this site.

What the hell?
I NEVER posted in "introduce yourself"? I would've sworn I had.
Short and sweet:
Firstly, I'm a Father and a Husband.
Secondly, I'm a Videogame Player.
Everything else is tied for third.
I'm working on playing through every game in order, year by year, starting with 1972. After almost three months, I'm up to 1977. I will probably take a break after 1979 to figure out play/acquisition strategy for the 80s and to sell off most of my stuff from the 70s. Check out my Blog to see a person obsessed.
I'm not a "collector". I "accumulate" with "intentions to play and eventually sell or trade but only after I've played it 'enough'". At the moment I've got more games than I think I could ever play within a lifetime and still be able to get away with calling it a "life". This, however, doesn't prevent me from trying to play them all anyway, nor does it seem to dissuade me from buying more.

Hi all. I have been a member for a while, but have done nothing but lurk for years. I am a avid gamer and have all of my favorite consoles. I range from the 2600 to the PS2/GC/Xbox. My personal favorites are my Neo Geo and my Sega Saturn. Played my first game at age 5-6 on the TI-99. My dad bought one for my brother, and I played against him all the time. I used to collect, but now I have given that up in favor of only owning games I truly like. My personal library (or collection as you will) spans about 700 titles right now. Down from a massive 2,500 or so. I sold a lot of crappy games. Anyhoo started posting a bit more and thought I'd say hey. Oh and I am 25 years old, live in Utah, in school, a movie buff (mostly sci-fi, horror and b movies though).

Hello,
My name is Tod.
I live in Indiana.
Found the forums on a web search but bought the Digital Press guide at the 5th annual Classic Gaming Expo in Vegas.
In real life, I'm an orthodontist.
I got an Atari 2600 in 1980 or so at the age of 8. I've also owned (originally):
TI 99/4A (learned BASIC programming in 4th grade, thereby ruining any chance of a proper mindset for elegant programming).
Commodore 64
Nintendo NES
Sega Genesis
Atari Jaguar (pre-ordered, received Christmas Eve one year, what a disappointment)
Nintendo 64
Sega Dreamcast
and the newer consoles.
I have always had a collector's mentality, but usually ended up trading in my systems and games toward the price of even newer systems. Then, in a reckless display of irony, I'm forced to repurchase these games for my collection.
My true collection started in earnest when I had the fortune of buying out the entire NES stock from a local video store about 3 years ago. The owner would buy every game available, carefully open the box, remove the cart and manual, and re-shrinkwrap the box to put on the store shelves. So I ended up with about 375 very good condition boxes, 450 different games, and 350 pretty beat up manuals. Some others had already picked through and bought some games, but he did have a number of the hard to find ones. There was even a Peek-a-boo Poker instruction sheet in the stack of manuals, but no cart. I imagine at one time they had the three Panesian titles in the store.
In the meantime, I've grown a decent collection of most consoles and quite a few games. There's really nowhere close to where I live that ever has any potential for me picking up any great finds, so I'm relegated to a life of ebay sniping. My goal is to complete an NES collection.
My favorite games are RPG's. I spent many late nights with Ultima IV on the commodore 64, and loved the original Dragon Warrior. I have fond memories of Super Mario Brothers 2, as well as the N64 and GameCube Marios. I hope to open a game store in the near future; I've already gotten the corporation setup but my day job is keeping me a bit too busy lately.
I'm also interested in anything that goes along with the Nintendo World Championships; I just think it's ultra cool to collect.
Thanks,
Tod

I am Alex Klaman
I live in solano county
I found this place from RetroYoungen
I love Metal slug 1-4 and X and Everything Sega makes.
I try to collect for systems that I currently own. The only exception is the Sega 32X and Sega CD.
I work in the Solano college's computer labs and at the local "arcade."
I also play D+D and Zatch Bell CCG if I can get someone to play me. Not as popular as MTG or others I guess...
Since I am in the labs until closing monday wendsdays and fridays I am going to be a lot more offen.
I don't know when or what I started with but I do rember getting my Genesis when it first came out. I think my first actual collectable game Knuckles Chatoix. I do have a long scar down the center of my chest from open heart surgery when I was just a few years old.

Hi! My name is Mr. Flibble and I am a flightless waterfowl. I'm originally from the Antartic region and I'm kinda between residences at the moment.
My longtime friend AltairBoy showed me this website. In fact he introduced me to the whole idea of retrogaming. Earlier this year when he took me to OVGE and I met all sorts of cool people. Since then I've been to CGE2K5 and I've met even more fantastic people there. I think both the CGE and DP people are the best!
My favorite games are Galaga and Galaxian. I love shoot-em ups. I like video pinball games, especially Midnight Magic on the XE game system. I'm really good at the game probably because I have, er, you know...flippers.My favorite arcade game is the Star Wars one where you fly an X-wing and try to blow up the Death Star.
Anyhoo I don't do any collecting. AltairBoy has plenty of games and I just use his stuff. He doesn't seem to mind.
Other then that my favorite activity is meeting people especially gamers at events. You gamers really shine at these shows. I hope to meet more of you!

Hello! Well, here I am :)
I'm Michele/Spinal, I live in the Uk and study computer science at college here. I found the forumns from a link in the Mercedes-Benz Owners club forum (www.mbclub.co.uk).
My favorite games are Zelda (any and all -except 4 swords:P) and Killer Instincts... oh and GoldenEye 64, and Mario on the original GameBoy, and... bah practically ann Nintendo games :D
I collect ANYTHING that has a nintendo stamp on it. From the first playing cards ninty made to their latest consoles!
Interesting facts... hmmm, well I played with my first console after an accident where the doc's wanted to amputate my arm. I managed to keep my arm, but it was firt paralised, then semi-paralised. They recommended I buy a console and "excercise my brain-hand co-ordination" with it... the rest, is histo...nay, the rest, is retro! :)

Hi all. My name is Mike and I'm from Dearborn Heights, Michigan. I'm a network engineer and have been into gaming my whole life really, ever since I got an Atari 2600 as a little tyke. I don't know if I'd really call myself a collector. I just really enjoy playing a lot of the older games (and newer games too!)
I currently have my 2600, SNES, and Genesis hooked up in my computer room, and my N64, Dreamcast, Cube, Xbox, and PS2 in the living room. Right now I'm looking for a Sega CD, a working NES (both of mine died recently), a Turbo Duo (my Turbografx died a while back) and some of the conoles I never had a chance to own like the Intellivision, Colecovision, and Saturn. I'm also hunting for games for all my older 16-bit systems that have mysteriously disappeared throughout the years that i've been itching to play again. I think Landstalker and Gunstar Heroes for Genesis are probably at the top of my (need to relive the magic) list. :)
I've been reading the posts here for a while and it seems like quite a nice bunch of people. I'm looking forward to doing some trading and outings and maybe some gaming as well. I've also been thinking about doing some local hunting via thrift shops and stuff if anyone local here in Michigan is interested in making a weekend day of it.

Hello
- My name is Jacob in real life, and I am 15, and about to take my trial year 10 exams.
- I live in Sydney Australia, and there is no-where for me to get old games.
- I found the forums because I was looking for a Super Nintendo Rarity list.
- My favourite games are for The Super Nintendo and The PSP.
- I'll collect for anything if I can get my hands on it. I have recently begun collecting my Super Nintendo games again, because my mother sold my old one when I wasn't looking. I miss my old games..
- I go to school. Currently on holidays for another week. Then Impending doom.
- My first console was a Sega Master System. My first game was some Alex Kidd game I think. Hey I was 3 years old at the time. Then my grandparents got a NES and I played that when I saw them. It kinda took off from there.
Hey,
My name is Tobias and I'm from Germany. I'm 15 years old an go to school.
During my endless travels through the internet, searching for a rarityguide for NES games, I found this page. Mainly I collect Nintendo stuff, but I'm getting interested in Atari at the moment. My father gave me an SNES console as a present in 1994/1995 I think. The game I played most was something with Yoshi (I can't remember the complete name). I enjoy playing any kind of games, the new PC games a well as old NES games.

Will anyone read this? Probably not, but figured I might as well throw my hat in the ring. Five minutes 'til I eat some breakfast. LOL
I'm Nick, would be that on the forums, 'cept it's taken. Oh well, my eBay user id will do for now. And, uh, the name of my amazing website. I'm from the US of A, in case anyone was wondering.
I'm 16 years old, and thankfully, I'm not one of those "omg wtf lolz INTERNETZ HAHA" type of people. No worries here.
What do I hope to contribute to the community? Hopefully some tidbits of knowledge (mainly Dreamcast...I know the going price of every single US game, amongst other things @_@) and some sales items. My bud and I run an internet business buying/selling old Sega games (Sega CD and Dreamcast). Ironically enough, I'm not really that big of a Sega fan -- it just rolled around that way. A few of you have probably bought something from me on eBay, or off another forum (I frequent Dreamcast History, DCPawnshop and DCEmu).
Oh, and I bought the Digital Press Advance guide. That's gotta give me a few points, right? :P

Hey im 16, male and currently living in Melbourne Australia. I've been playing games since i was about 6 starting with the Mega Drive. About 8 months ago i found my megadrive, turned it on and only planning to have a quick game, i beat all of sonic 2 :) . i guess i was bitten right then, i went and got out a 2600 a friend had given me a few years ago, that i had only played a little then forgotten about. so over the past few months ive been collecting snes and 2600 (i got a snes for $12) ive got about 35 2600 games, there great to pick up and play for like 15 minutes each, and i can get em for a few dollars each. I'm a huge nintendo fan, i did desperatly want a snes for years as a child though never got one, though did get a N64 that christmas, maybe im compensating for that though as im rather avidly collecting snes, currently have about 30+ games. I bought a nes off ebay last week, and cant wait for it to arrive. btw, i also own a ps2 and gamecube. look foward to many great times on the forum!

Hello. My name is William.
I reference this site alot so I thought I might as well join and see if you people are as depraved as I sometimes become.
I collect post crash video game systems, anything before that was before my introduction to games. I like to create custom vinal decals for each of my console and matching controllers. This my offend some of you hardcore collectors, but I like my champions to be unique (and I keep it tasteful).
In closing I am currently playing Metal Slug 1st Mission for Neo Geo Pocket Color, I am not ready for the Gamecube to die and every time I touch a Playstation controller I feel like I should wash my hands (you cannot deny the library though).

Hello.
My name is john (if you couldn't tell from the username) and I've been looking at this site for a while, and finally decided to join. About me... I'm 20 years old, I live in Murphy, NC.. I went to WCU for 2 years and then dropped out, now I live at home and just work two jobs, going back to school soon though.
I am also a member over at rfgen. I haven't been collecting all that long, but I have been into video games for as long as I can remember. I have almost 150 games for all kinds of different systems, and I am adding games almost every single day. Recently I've been buying just to buy, but its getting kinda expensive. I mostly have for the SNES because it is what I grew up with.

My name is Ron Burley and I hail from Garner KS which is a small town near Kansas City, KC.
As for games...lawd have mercy what haven't I played? I have gone through stages of collection-ism and hording as well. Started out on an Amiga 1000 and it all escilated from there. (Yeah, I had an Atari 2600, 5200 and Coleco but the Amiga really opened my eyes to gaming...seriously!)
As I grew up I became more and more nastalgic. I collected upright cabinet and a few cocktails. I was able to boast having a Tron, Galaga, Pac Man, Mr. Do, Berzerk, and various JAMMA games in my basement. Sadly, marriage and real life required me to sell them all (at a nifty profit I might add).
So, now I simply play whatever I can get my hands on. Emulators, JAMMA cabs, consoles, PC, and even and Amiga game now and again just to whet the palatte (Killing Game Show...mmm...Psygnosis gooooodness!)
So that's about it...hope to post more on the rest of the board...

Hello all, my name is Tom Cooper, and I come from the land down under (Australia if that wasn't a give away!). I'm 19, 20 in a few days! Currently studying IT and hating it, gonna go for a big change next year.
Been gaming since about 1990, when our family got our first SMS for christmas. Played many games on NES before this, but the SMS being the first console I (we) owned, has a special place in my heart and is still my favourite. It was the only console we owned until 1996 when I bought a Mega Drive with the money I received from birthday gifts, and my obsession with gaming just snowballed from there. The next year I got a SNES and a Game Gear, then next year a N64, then the next a PS1. And so on...
I don't really "hardcore" collect for any particular console, though I am proud of my SMS collection which stands at 105 different games, and about 11 swaps.
Even though I grew up with Sega, I have no preferences of one console over another (except SMS). I view all consoles as a means to play a game, hopefully a good one!
Anyway I've been lurking around here for about a month and this place seemed like it had a damn good community of gamers, not people who play just one console and bash the others cause theirs is "the best", but true gamers who play anything if it's good and intelligently critisize if something deserves it. GameFaqs this aint'. That, and I feel compelled to post in the topic about NES RPG's and reccomend STED: Starfield of memorable relics, the NES answer to Phantasy Star.
Well I hope to have a good time here!

Yo, the name's Jesse, currently an English Lit grad student at IUP (Indiana U. of PA). My collecting focus is on the NES, been picking them up consciously since about 98 during my freshman year of college. Beyond that I've got all kinds of systems from the 2600 and Coleco to the PS2 and Gamecube. That's about it, it'd be cool to hear from collectors roughly in the Pittsburgh area. Peace.

25 year old male, from Bedford VA. I am a computer operator (sit in the room with all the AS400s).
I have been gaming as long as I can ever remember. Collecting however is new to me. This site in the past few days has thrown some major fuel on the fire.
These are a few of my Favorite Games:
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Gunstar Heroes
Ducktales for the NES
Mappy
The Silent Hill series
Truely I could go on forever, but this is a taste for varieties sake.
I currently have:
NES
Gameboy
N64 (pikachu edition)
Genesis
Jaguar
PSone
PS2
(hope to get a DS soon, since good 2d gaming seems to be coming back)
I also enjoy writing, attempting to play my bass guitar, and listening to David Bowie.
P.S. I have a tendancy to say "word" a lot.
A few posts late but Hello everyone.
My name is Richard i am 22 years old and i live in KC KS
I play everything except sports games with a particular passion to RPGs, scrolling shooters, and quirky titles. I am attempting to collect every RPG released on a console or handheld in the US. I'm doing fairly well, i htink i am over half way though.
I have been trading on the interenet for about 2 and a half years now. Previously only on gametz. Although i have looked at this site many times over the last 2 years i only recently made an account.
My collection as well as some feedback and an outdated list of items i have for trade can be viewed here:
http://gametz.com/user/veln.html
Also i have 186 feedback on ebay under the name veln.
And most important of all my wife is also a gamer, she posts under my name at Gametz sometimes. She is a graphics designer and an artist and alot more interesting than i am hehe. In case anyone is interested here is her website http://www.infodust.com/back.htm.
I guess thats all for now :)

Hiya :) Nice site!
My name is Thor, I'm 28 from Carrollton (Dallas metro), Texas, USA.
I don't play very many games anymore, I haven't had the patience to finish one since Diablo II a few years back.
Once upon a time I devoured them though, and won a little thing called the NWC back in the last millennium, circa '90 ;)
Playing stuff like FF2 on the SNES, SF2 series in the arcades, those were probably the best times I've had with games, along with playing stuff like Mario party with my daughter. Sad thing about being divorced and 3 states away, I don't get to do that anymore.
Not sure where I'm going with this, so I'll sign off here .. great site, I'm off to wander the forums!!

Wewt to the NWC winner!
I'm Daniel, an aspiring Christian pastor and a married father of two. I've been a gamer now for about 27 years(my father started me when I could walk, putting me on stools to play his arcade games).
I've seen just about everything in the gaming scene, from the Atari 2600 to the ZX Spectrum. While I've hit a few crap titles here and there, in general, I've enjoyed my time, and still continue to do so.
I co-own and run a competitive gaming ladder site - http://www.stormgaming.net
I am most definitely Old School, sticking to emulators nowadays as I'm a little too poor to go hunting systems and games. If you've got places to help a brother out with downloading, feel free to PM, IM, or email me.
I've read horror stories from other DP users of harsh treatment from DP members. I hope not to have one of those myself as I post. I've been a longtime lurker, first time or so poster. :)

Hi all
Used to visit this site every know and then but I lost all my old information so I made a new account. Hope thats all right. ;)
When it come to gaming I'm not much of a 'retro' guy. I'm more into Dreamcast, Saturn, PS/PS2 sometimes 16-bit. I look forward to taking part in the community.
