Hello, i'm Darren from Stevenage in Hertfordshire UK.

Video games have been a way of life for me for many years now. Starting back with the Spectrum 48k and progressing through to the Xbox now.

Like many fools i've sold to upgrade many times during my youth and am only now trying to grab back what i lost through my teeenage youth.

I'm not a mad collector, i like building my collections but i'm not one for spening into the £100's for a game.

I discovered this site due to the rarity lists, which i was looking for as a way to catalogue and gauge my current collection.

Hope to speak to many of you soon.

Cheers, Darren.

I'm Stephen from Toronto. I've been playing games for over 20 years and have been collecting for over 10. I collect pretty much everything console related, but I also play a lot of recent stuff for consoles and PC too.

I'm buying a bigger house soon and hope to get into Arcade cab collecting (I only have an Asteroids machine right now).

Hello there.

Dan here. I'm around 27ish and have been playing since 1979.
Around the middle of last year I started a site dedicated to the NES called aptly enough.... PlanetNES.

As far as what I'm into... if it's a video game that's not on a PS2 or Xbox, it's open season. I collect EVRYTHING video game related.

Anyway, I've been coming to digitpress for awhile now and thought I'd join up with the forum finally.
Thanks for taking time to listen to me drivel.

I'm joe ratulowski and currently live in Atlanta, GA by way of Western New York. Came across these forums shortly after discovering the DP site. Just googled for "classic gaming" and there it was.

I have small to middling collections for quite a few systems, but have just recently decided to concentrate on handheld, cartridge based systems. With my recent acquisition of a Microvision I am now only missing a turboExpress and a GameGear. Now I can truly begin to accumulate some games for all these systems.

Used to work as a systems admin, and a bench tech for a while, but found I disliked the work. So, now i'm management at a national home improvement store. Not sure which I prefer. If only I could find a job working on printers.

I'm Graham Mitchell. I'm originally from Seattle,WA, but I'm now in medical school in North Chicago IL (which is actually not Chicago, it's the middle of nowhere.) I'm 25 years old, and I live with my fiancee. Besides gaming, I have a fierce passion for rock music, in all its forms.

I must have started gaming back in around 1986 or '87. I was a bit too young for the '2600, so my first machine was a NES. As the years went on, I bought so many more consoles that I can't even count them. I have owned such machines as a TurboExpress, a Sega Saturn, a Sega Master System, Sega CD, 32X,Turbografx CD-Rom basically all the 16-bit garbage that came out...they all had gems though, and they were worth owning for those rare finds.

I've played 'em all since then, but nothing beats the 8- and 16-bit consoles for me personally. I have a sharp interest in more off-beat and obscure games. I also believe that video games are a viable artistic medium, and have a great appreciation for games that exhibit that fact.

I don't have time to play much anymore, but I read a lot, and hope to meet other people interested in the underappreciated classics of this unquittable habit.

Cheers, Graham Mitchell.

- What systems you collect for

Anything I can get my greedy mits on, from dedicated pong systems to PS2 and the like.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

How I began collecting...well, I got into roms to pass time at work, then I remembered a classic game from childhood and found it at the flea market - Stinger for NES - also grabbed up some other .50 games I found. SMB3, SMB2, Final Fantasy, Double Dragon 2. Got home and realized that I remember when I used to have a lot of games for NES (about 50-75) and I figured I'd start up a collection of them again. Now my collection in total is about 1700 games and over 500 is NES alone. Still not reaching some of the heavy hitters here like Joe or Achika but oh well...im happy! Hope to reach 2000 by mid-year.

I'm Jimmy. I'm 23 and I live in Kansas...stumbled across this forum from a search engine, so I thought it looked like a cool place to join.

I listen to metal to a fault (especially black metal the past few years), and I sort of reintroduced myself to classic games recently, having dusted off the Genesis and repurchasing an NES. My favorite game ever is most likely Contra, and if you couldn't tell already, I'm becoming a big Castlevania fan, though I currently own only 7 CV games.

Hello my name is David, I'm 15 years old and I live in the USA(in AZ). I've been playing games for about 10 years (I got hooked on gaming from playing the NES,Genesis and Gameboy), and I've been addicted to games since I first played Super Mario Brothers. My current obsession(sp?) at the moment is finding a mint/complete Japanese Saturn from the 1994 launch date before Summer starts. Wish me luck! :p

I started collecting games about 5 years ago when my friend sold me his Genesis with 4 controllers and about 15 games. After that I had to buy more and more Genesis carts, then I bought a Saturn, then Dreamcast then Intellivision...and I've been collecting ever since.

I currently own around 17 systems (not counting doubles), from Intellivision to Xbox. And I like all genres of games.

My hobbys are: Videogames(playing/collecting), Watching Anime, Drawing Anime stuff, Programming homebrew games for the Dreamcast(though they all suck lol), as well as some other un important stuff...

Favorite games...

1.Shenmue 1
2.Goldeneye
3.Super Mario Brothers 3
4.Sonic 2
5.Final Fantasy VII
6.Twisted Metal 2
7.Final Fantasy VIII
8.Streets of Rage 2
9.NiGHTS:Into Dreams
10.Donkey Kong Country 2

Just to name a few :)

Favorite systems...

1.Dreamcast/Saturn tie
2.Nintendo 64
3.Genesis
4.NES
5.SNES
6.PS1

Forget that I like em all!

Anyway I hope that covers everything, I plan to post a lot on this site as it has lots of true gamers to chat with and interesting topics to read. Well, I think I'll probably go to bed now...cya later everyone! :)

Hello,

I think it was seeing H.E.R.O. running on a friends VCS when I was 9 that gave my the videogame bug.

Over the years I had loads of different consoles. When I was younger I always sold my old systems to finance a new console, naively thinking that newer was better. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Since then I've bought back all the consoles and games that I had growing up and more to boot.

Like the big nerd I am, I've got far too many systems and games, more than I could play in several lifetimes. My main interests are Japanese Megadrive and Saturn games, US Neo Geo games, and ps1 games.

I've built up a good feedback record on Ebay over the years, my ID is beepcheck. I've in Ireland and I do alot of trading online, I'm always looking for a good trade. :)

Regards,

Folco.

Hello all! Sorry I took so long in joining - I've been a big fan of Digital Press for years but never thought about the forums here (I keep busy with other forums that I discovered first :embarrassed: ).

Anyway, this is Bill Loguidice from Central New Jersey, USA, and I'm a classic computer and videogame collector who tries to stay active in the community. I have a pretty good collection (one whole workshop room full of stuff in my house and in a few other places) which I have posted on my personal Website (I have to update it again though--perhaps after the Philly Classic this Saturday), and I'm also an editor and co-founder of Armchair Arcade, an online publication covering all kinds of topics. The links to both are in my signature.

My first game system was my parents' Pong, MY first purchase was an Atari 2600, my first computer was a Commodore Vic-20, and the first system that I actually went out to collect for was the Coleco Adam (though I had sizable collections of other systems before that, I just didn't think of it as "collecting"). Before eBay, I found most of my stuff via flea markets and what-not, but these days eBay has kind of destroyed the ability to have consistent finds via that route anymore. eBay, a blessing and a curse...

Oh, and I'm 31 and married, with our first child on the way! :eek 2:

My name is John, from Brighton, MA. It's right outside of Boston. 20 mintue bus ride... which comes in handy since you have city access without all the traffic that seems especially bad in Boston. I've been playing games since I was about 2. I played games like Centipede and Road Runner on an Atari ST, and played games like Shark! Shark! on an Intellivision. Not sure why, but I seemed to lean towards computers more until the late 90's. Most of the time I played FPS games, my favorites being Deus Ex and Jedi Knight. Half Life was up there too. I also played lots of portable games up to that point, my favorites being Metal Gear: Ghost Babel and Donkey Kong. After a while, though, it seemed like PCs just evolved to quickly, and catching up was annoying. So I got an N64 about four years ago, then a Dreamcast quickly followed up by a PS2.

I play a metric ton of games, generally ranging from the SNES era onwards. I never liked NES too much, not sure why, and although I enjoy systems like Intellivsion, I'd be lying if I said I liked classics like Contra over their more modern sequels like Shattered Soldier. At a point, I started going back on stuff I had missed, especially on systems like PS, SNES, and N64, which is where DigitPress came in. I've been going to the site for a while now, and kind of just randomly decided to join the forums.

And for what it's worth, my favorite game series or games are Devil May Cry (just the first one), the Castlevania series as a whole, the Contra series so long as we can just forget PSX ever happened, the Dark Forces series, and the Metal Gear series. I also greatly enjoyed most of the games in the Metroid series. And... that's about it.

Hey, I'm Chris, 21 years old, and have been interested in all sorts of video games since I was 3. I started off by playing games like Jumpman Jr. and Blue Max on my dad's Commodore 64, before getting my first NES and becoming hooked on games like SMB, Duck Hunt, and my all time favorite, Ninja Turtles. Over the years I've progressed to the newer systems, but I still enjoy the old time classics. I've been in the NES internet scene for about 6 years and used to be a hardcore collector. I've recently got back into collecting NES games, and am going to expand my collections for other systems such as the SNES and Atari.

Some of my favorite games and series include:

Blaster Master series
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Ninja Turtles on NES
Various obscure NES games such as Xexyz, Pinball Quest, and Cowboy Kid
Smash Bros
Manhunt
Grand Theft Auto Series

Thats about it

Hi, my name is Victor. I collect SNES mainly and some NES games. I think the SNES games are generally better than the NES games though. I never cared for the N64 at all. I'm 24 years old ASP.Net / SQL Server computer programmer from Mobile, AL, USA. I love working with databases! Pay is good too :) .

I am a big time ebay fanatic. I started a SNES collector's group forum on Ebay's group site. We have 50 members as of this post, including some from this forum. Anyone is free to join (must be an ebay member). To get there, go to ebay, click the community link, click the people link.
This is the tree path of the group:
Group Center > Collectors Clubs > Collectibles > Super Nintendo SNES Collectors Club
Here is a direct link:
http://groups.ebay.com/forum.jspa?forumID=100000178

I have been a big SNES fan from day 1. It was so cool when the SNES came out. I cannot say that I have gotten 100% on SMW or DKC1 but I have a lot of valuable memories from this time. Now I am going back and getting all the games I never had. I have a lot of fond memories of the original NES as well, Metal Gear was one of my favorites. Now I can go through Battletoads from level 1 to 12 (but I can't beat the game straight through!). I like the original Mega Man games for the NES a whole lot better than for the SNES but I own every NES and SNES mega man game complete.

One day I hope to have all the SNES games (complete maybe). Right now I can't do that but for the last year I have collected the top rarest games (R5-R9) complete except for 2 or 3 and I can get the others! One day I plan to come back to it and get the less rare games but I just can't right now. Here is a list of everything I own:
http://www32.brinkster.com/v1richstore/MyCollection/MyCollection.htm

My collection on IGN:
http://users.ign.com/collection/v1rich

I have lots of extra stuff I would like to trade or sell. Sometimes I buy just boxes / instructions and I do not even have the games for them and never did, just for the future if I decide to come back and get the rest of the games I don't have. If you are looking for something chances are I can help you find it. Just email me or message me. I am a regular on ebay, half.com, and amazon.com, and sometimes some of the game sites such as bregames.com and ebgames.com.

Glad to see such a community of old school gamers such as myself!

This isn't the first time I've logged onto this forum. I believe I've used the name Caracal and/or Fossa. But I've moved around a great deal recently and am just now getting settled in back here at Arkansas.
Currently I have a buttload of old arcade machines, but no classic consoles at the moment :(.
This is by far the best meeting place on the net for people of like-minds. Only 3,000+ users and there are almost always more members viewing this forum than BBS's with 5-10 times as many registered users. Joe you have one hell of a website.
As for my interests, I'm a geek. I love reading about science, technology, classic games and computers. And hope to have a decent collection myself soon.
As for my history:
Atari 2600 Heavy Sixer when new for Christmas ('79?)
TRS-80 CoCo for christmas ('82?)
I've owned an Atari 400 and 1200, An Amiga A500, and then got stuck with Wintel stuff since then. I now build and maintain my own computers but am no where near as interested in them as I am the old stuff.
Favorite Games:
-Scramble (arcade)
-Star Castle (arcade)
-Gun.Smoke (arcade)
Yars Revenge (2600)
All true Mario games (NES/SNES)
Sonic the Hedgehog (Gen)
Red Dog (DC)

Favorite Game Company:
SEGA

Hi, my name is Brad but most people simply call me Vermin or "Verm". I'm 33 years of age. I hail from Ontario, Canada where I work as a Lead Game Designer.
I found the Digital Press through my constant random scouring of the internet in search of interesting sites related to gaming.

I don't know if I really have favourite games, but I know I've logged a lot of time playing games like "Truckin'" and Zaxxon. Actraiser was another that stole a lot of my time. Those are probably the only real standouts that I can think of off hand.

I collect games for any and all systems. I'm not willing to break the bank to acquire them, so my collection is somewhat under control. If I find a steal, it's mine -- that's all there is to it. I will occassionally go out of my way to get something, but I'm generally a passive collector.

I started into games at the ripe old age of seven, with a Telstar game. Since then I've grown up through most generations of gaming and worked the retail end of it for ten years before landing "on the inside." It has only been in the last three years or so that I really started collecting stuff. Most of it is stuff I just never sold/traded/threw out, but I've started reacquiring things more recently. I guess I wanted my kids to get a sense of how we got to where we are now.

Hey everyone. My name's George and I live in Orlando. I've decided fairly recently to go back and collect some older systems to play some "retro" games. To me and I'm sure to all of you a good game is timeless. I hope to meet some cool people who are willing to help me out in this massive endevour and just some people to talk to about all things games. Oh and since this is supposed to be about me...I'm 22 and a student in college...when not playing games I listen to metal and goto concerts and play any and every sport I can. On any given day after work you can catch me in the gym and then I come home to play anything from Ninja Gaiden to PSO to Madden's latest incarnation. Well before I go I just wanted to say I'm looking forward to some people hopefully getting in touch with me to talk about games.......Later

I'm Oliver Best

I found this site one late night looking around the web. I'm glad I did because I love old games. I started with the NES but fell in love with the Genesis. I love anything Sega.

In real life I make money to buy old video games. I'm a designer and I hope one day I can cross my work and my love and design for video games.

Hmmm, who am I? Well, lets see, first off I'm 16 from New York USA. How I found the forums you ask, well I searched "message boards" under google, because I was getting bored of my otherone and this one caught my eye because I love gaming.

My favorite games eh? Oi, I have way too many too list, but the ones that I guess REALLY stick out would have to be:
River raid - A2600
megaman/rockman 1-6 - NES/FC
Pitfall Harry (which was recommended to me by my favorite English teacher, and now I love the game) - A2600
FF3j - FC
Thrasher Skate and Destroy - PSX

For systems, I'll just collect for every system I have which currently is: A2600, NES, Genny, SNES, Saturn, N64, DC, PS2, GCN, GBA, GB, Game.com. If I see a decent game, or rare game for cheap for any system, I'll buy it. Sometimes even if I dont own the system.

My "real" life, why would anyone want to know about that? If you really want to know, I just spend my free time either skateboarding, snowboard, doing various drugs, or just hanging with friends playing games.

Well, I guess thats all there really is to know about me, if anyone at all is even interested :) so all I have to say now is, see you on the forums.

Name is Tom, I collect/play/trade in mostly classic games, console and computer. I specialize in RPG/adventure type since that is what I like to play the most. I also like to collect "rarities", even if not RPG. I have a lot of games in my collection, and a LOT for trade/sale. You can find out more about me on my main web page (plus a history of the Ultima series), TomMage.com. My trading history, you can check some of it at ebay, my ID is www_TomMage_com and my ID at GameTZ is TomMage.

Looking forward to some trading!! I am an "internet policeman" of a sort, I CAN'T STAND SCAMMERS/THEIVES. For example on lady in Malaysia stole many thousands of dollars from people around the world. I spent some time making reports etc and ended up having her thrown in jail. She gave back my money and a lot of money she stole from other people too (you can check history of this under my ID at GameTZ, her name is Sissy Lau). If anyone needs info on what to do if you get ripped off feel free to ask, I'll be happy to provide more details on how to handle things like that, IE DO NOT GIVE UP.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi, I just signed up, my name is Nik Robbins, and I'm from Fayetteville, Arkansas. I was a video gamer for most of my life, but at some point in high school I slowed down my gaming and in college I've practically stopped (the only Playstation 2 game I've ever played is Final Fantasy X, and I've never played a Gamecube or an Xbox). But now that I'm almost through with undergrad, I've decided to get back into gaming, and as a start I've returned to my roots by buying a Super Nintendo from a used game chain we have here in Arkansas called the Game Xchange (the SNES was always my favorite; I had an NES and a Genesis, but I always had far more games for my SNES). I found these forums while searching the internet for the best SNES games. I also have a Sega CDX I saw on eBay and just couldn't pass up (I also bid on a Turbo Duo, but the bidding went up to high for my college student budget). I plan on buying a PSone once I've exhausted the best games of the 16-bit era, then maybe a N64 and a Sega Saturn (I never had a Saturn). Then when I have a job, I'll get back into the new stuff.

I don't really have much of a collection right now, but I do have the limited edition yellow and blue Pokemon Gameboy Color. And my CDX, that's kind of rare. If only I hadn't had to let that Turbo Duo get away, I would've had the complete set of three 16-bit systems, plus the CD drives for the two that had them. Sigh.

Hello, everyone.

I stumbled upon this forum a few years ago from a topic on GameFAQs, ever since I've been viewing the site, and lurking at the forums. Since I was enjoying the site so much, I decided to become a part of it, and joined the Roundtable.

I'm a huge fan of retro consoles, not only because they're cheap, but also for nostalgiac reasons. Although I love videogames, I don't consider myself a collector, even though most of the people I run into consider my collection to be huge (it still doesn't hold a candle to the collections on this site, though).

I have a ton of favorite games, and I couldn't point one out, but I'm mainly into stuff from the NES.

In my spare time I scour flea markets, trying to find the most amount of games for as little as possible.

That is all.

Hi. My name's Daria... well actually it's Alex but for online purposes Daria suits me fine. Geez writing this feels a little silly. Do these actualy get read? Anyway I've been playing video games since I was 4 years old and I'm an avid collector of all things RPG- well RPG and in english I'm not too fond of playing games that I can't understand. My favorite games/series include Shining Force, Alundra, Lunar, Rhapsody, Dragon Warrior, Zelda, Breath of Fire, Harvest Moon, etc...

I'll play any game for any system, so I'm really unpartial when it comes to "console wars". I'm 20 years old, and female incase it wasn't obvious by now. And I guess that's about it for now. (:

My turn? right...

My name's Thomas. To lessen the vagueness of my location, I live in Mckinney, of a verdant type of backwood/close to the city town. Enough happens here to make me like it, and the nature here is beautiful...

I uh... heh, I actually found my way here looking for info on Shinobi 3 so I could finish my novelization of it. ( I'd like the name's of the bosses, so email 'em if ye know!)

I love all games ('cept sports and cliche types), but the older ones hold a special place in the cockles for me...from the strange gross, repeated landscapes of Contra-esque shooters, to quests for a child at heart, like Kirby (which i have respected my whole life), to the more robust era of Sega (shinobi, splatterhourse, gunstar heroes, SONIC!, Samurai Shodown) ... cel-like fightin' games are fun too!

Basically Nintendo and Sega, since I don't really collect 'em not to play 'em. I collect any with great soundtracks (or music I can tape-record) So, games n' music.. Rockman 2's ending music got me started on it.

Although reality is questionable in it's existence, I work as a co-writer for Anti-feline, an online series began by my greatest friend Kuwari. I am currently in high school still, and am looking for a job too... used to work at Pizza Hutt.

I have truthfully beaten all three Splatterhouses, though it took about 3 weeks to get it right, the TG-16 version almost taking up that time (that shape-shifter's a pain in the ass!), gotten to level 2 on Ghosts n' Goblins. I don't really collect games, I just preserve them in my room. I am a stout advocate of the OCRemix site, as the music there is second to none in this world.
I also despise religion.. personal reasons.

Hey, I'm Paul, I live in San Jose, California. I found the forums through links from various game sites.

My favorite games... Well I am a huge fan of Sonic and pretty much all things Sega. I collect for all the Sega Systems, but I specialize in the Master System.

In "real life" I am a senior in high school and I play drums in 2 bands. Nothing recorded yet though...

Hrmm, I suppose I'll bite.

Hey Everyone, Ross here from The boring suburbs of Philly. Found the forums a few days ago searching for something NES related (though the exact search eludes me now).

Favorite games? Oh man, I have way too many for that, haha. I collect primarily for NES (My all time favorite console), but will pick up anything for any other console if it's a good deal.

Being only 17, I go to school (naturally). While not in school, I hit the gym, work, and hang out with friends/my girlfriend...

As I don't make much to continuously buy games like many of you guys (which I envy infinitely for, mind you), I'll take ANY hints on places to locate these things! (like tips on where to go to find goodwill stores/yardsales, etc).

I don't have any pics of me with my meager collection, but since I always like to be able to put a face behind the name, I figure I should offer the same. http://acf.5light.com/pics/1415.jpg

Hey all, my name is Chris, I'm 21, and I reside in South Carolina. I actually came across this site several years ago when I first got online, and even posted on the old woodgrain-style messageboard for a while before Real Life started to get in the way. I made a new account when the forum style changed but simply haven't had time to post until now (though I have managed to lurk the boards occassionally).

About my tastes in gaming, it's hard for me to single out a single game or type of game as my favorite, since that usually happens to be whatever I'm playing at the time. Unfortunately, circumstances have forced me to get rid of a huge portion of my gaming collection over time, including my NES, SNES, and most of my PSX stuff, leaving me with comparativley little except for my GBA and Gamecube systems and games. An old friend has recently given me his old SMS stuff though, so I'm seriously thinking about picking up a few of my favorite games for it should the opportunity present itself. I also have a few import gaming soundtracks as well.

As for my real life, I work part time at a local bookstore and am currently planning on attending college starting this summer. I'm pretty much clean, I don't do drugs or even drink (I'm not as stiff as that makes me sound, though, I promise). Guess that's about it.

i'm a guy who plays some games in charlotte, nc. i found the forums through the 'yet more ebay insanity'. can't remember how, but i do remember just browsing that section for a good week or two before venturing elsewhere. favorite games? hmmm....that changes alot. i like nes games the most right now, but anything i don't have to play for more than an hour at a time...used to only play rpgs/longer games, but no more.

i collect for nes, snes, psx, dreamcast right now, and soon genesis and turbo graphx stuff. i only collect games i want to play, not trying to complete anything as of yet. i'm getting the shooter itch tho...and i blame it on ikaruga...never cared for shooter too much, but now...i can't resist all the flying bullets. i'm tired and weary of storyline driven games. even the likes of stuff like the new metal gears. hell, i don't even read the logs for metroid prime which i'm playing right now.

in real life i make pizzas, alot of them. it's ok, but when your 24 and still doing it, it makes you feel like shit.

i began collecting, ironically enough, through emulation...i was beginning to think i was too old, or didnt' like games anymore...nope, i just don't care for too many new games...or old ones for that matter, i'm kinda picky...there's too many good games out there to play bad ones.

I just introduced myself in the 'off-topic' forum because like a right ninny I didn't realize this was here. DOH! LOL
Anyways hi folks hope you're all well and I look foward to nattering about some of the great games of yesteryear without having to deal with bothersome fanboys.

I'm male, 30 years old, (31 in June X_x ) and have a beautiful wife who also like her videogaming, (no kids yet).
I've been a videogamer ever since I went to a friends house when i was a little kid and had a blast on his Atari 2600. The rest, as they say, is history but during that time I've either owned, (or still own), everything from the Commodore+4 to the Spectrum128+2 to the Neo-Geo AES to the Xbox.

Take it easy. 8-)

Ugh... I hate I posting "Hi, I'm new!" things, but what the heck. o_O

I'm Aussie2B AKA Succubus AKA tri-Ace Super Fan AKA Tina. I'm 21, obsessed with games and other Japanese products, and I find Willy Wonka sexy.

Some of you may know me (some of you DO know me) from other gaming message boards (Castlevania Dungeon, GameFAQs, SoundtrackCentral, etc.), or maybe you've come across my reviews, FAQs, or web site.

My favorite games are from the Star Ocean series, which is apparent to anyone who is around me for more than 5 minutes. I buy anything and everything related to the series and tri-Ace in general.

And as a final note, most people hate me because I'm extremely opinionated and harsh (and most people hate women who are like this more than the men). Just a warning. O_o

I learned all my basic math and BASIC skills using the TI-99. It was a beautiful system, combining the speed of hardware with the versatility of software. Cartridge based titles are fast, and can extend your platform's hardware with custom circuitry. Software titles are cheap, as they do not need to carry the cost overhead of hardware.

When the NES came out I was greatly impressed, despite it's lack of hardware only titles. I desired an NES of my own and received one some months later as a gift from my parents. I remember getting seriously frustrated with Super Mario Brothers while our family was staying in a hotel (we were between homes). I still have ROB to this day, although he is missing his accessories.

A year or two later, SSI's Pool of Radiance convinced me that being a PC gamer isn't all badl. Before that game came out I always viewed PC games as being weak compared to the NES. Now I saw that the PC would become a powerful gaming platform in my opinion. This came true for me several years later when Wolfenstein 3d came out, and shortly thereafter DOOM made the world see it too.

I took a short 2 or 3 year break from video games after my last addiction: Sid Meiers Civilizations. The break officially ended when I discovered UO. I played UO for quite some time before RTCW came out. For some reason the return of an old title from my childhood caught my attention. I played the RTCW Demo to death and grabbed the full game as soon as it became available. Since then I've been an FPS addict.

5 years ago I started collecting older titles for NES, SNES, and Gameboy. Why? My guess it is that 3d gaming has become such the norm that the fun of 2d gaming is being lost. For me nothing beats a good match of BF1942, RTCW, or UT, but when my internet is down, or when I feel like playing an RPG, I always turn towards my childhood favorites: FF1, Dragon Warrior, Pool of Radiance, Secret of Mana, and NetHack.

Hello, My name is Jim and I live in Pa about 1 hour north of Philadlphia. I'm 38 years of age and have been playing and collecting games since the Atari 5200 was released. I only recently started my 2600 collection. I own most all the major systems since that time to present with the exception of the Neo Geo unfortunatly. I like all the sytems and collect for most. I'm a big fan of the NUON DVD's and have a complete collection of all 8 games released for this short lived platform including Crayon Shin-Chan.
I discovered the Forum some time ago and just now decided to join in. Some of my favorite games are Panzer Dragoon Saga, Magical Chase, Air Zonk, Warlords, Mr. Do, Tetris, Breakout, Atari Karts and Merlin Racing. I like alot of different stuff. I try to collect all things complete and as near mint as possible in my collection and have been this way since I started in the early 80's. So even the old things in my colection are in very good shape.
I recently attended the Philly Classic 5 show and have attended a few of them now. I will be also going to the East Coast Gaming Expo in Reading PA on 9/11/04.
I'm a food broker in my professional life, married with two children. That should do it. Thanks for reading.

Uhhhhhhh.... hi.

Normally I loathe boards and forums due to them being swarmed with teenagers with bad grammar and 1.5 meg avatars, but this seems like a friendly and highly intelligent community that I would very much like to be a part of. I honestly don't know how I found this place but I'm glad I did.

As for who I am, my name's Jeff, I'm a cook, I live in New England, the V sticks on my keyboard from when a friend spilled whiskey on it, and I'm one of the few people roaming the planet who still uses a 56k.

I was born in '81 and my parents had an atari hooked up to the TV when they brought me home, so I've been playing games quite literally my whole life. I can clearly recall having my mind blown right out the back of my skull at the sheer beauty of Sonic the Hedgehog. "It's so realistic" I was heard to mutter with unadulterated youthful awe.

Right now I am currently in possession of (and collecting for) an Atari 2600, a front loading NES, a Genesis I and a Genesis II, A Sega power base converter unit, (my newest aquisition) a Sega CD, a Saturn, a Dreamcast, a Turbo Grafx 16, a (possibly fried) Famiclone, an N64, a Gamecube, a GBA, a PS2 and one of those neat little PsOnes with the screen built in so you can play it in the car.

I look forward to meeting you!

Hi!

My name is Bill, I'm 42 and live in the Pacific Northwest.

My son, he's 7, and I are gameplaying fools and enjoy playing either coop or pounding each others pixels silly against each other.

He owns: Sega Genesis
I own: X-box

His favorite Sega games: Anything that has to do with Superheroes, although he also likes Sonic the Hedgehog too.

My favorite games: Currently Elder Scrolls III Although some other great games I like for the box...Halo, Mech Assault, Burn-out, Knock Out Kings, Crimson Skies, Splinter Cell, and just because it's so wonderfully goofy-Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee. My next two purchases are the GTA box set and Syberia.

Happy gaming, and best wishes!

I'm Kevin Johnson, I live in Atlanta, I'm 24. I heard about this site from a friend who is a hardcore Sega fan, like myself. I have collections going for Neo Geo AES, Sega Saturn, Sega CD, SMS, Genesis, and the Turbo. Some of my first memories are playing my sisters colecovision, I think I was 5, and ever since I have been playing games. I started collectiing simply because i don't trade in any of my games or sell them off. And because of that my collection has grown to moddest proportions. My current favorite system has to be my Neo Geo because of two simple words; METAL SLUG. I was first introduced to this amazing shooter series on the NGPC. A few years ago I was able to find a Neo at my local retro game store. At the same store I managed to snag Metal Slug 1 for the Saturn and ever since I have done what it takes to get the new installments on the Neo. Currently I have 3, 4, and 5 and am looking for a good deal on Metal Slug X.

- Who you are

Kristian Meller (contrary to what my name means, I am not at all religiuos. I believe in nothing/no one but myself)

- Where you live

Skoedstrup, Denmark. Near the second largest city, also known as the smallest Big City in the world, Aarhus. Hoping to move to our capital, Copenhagen, within the next few years.

- How you found the forums

Someone mentioned them at Neo-Geo.com. Think it was D-Lite or Kid Aphex.

- What your favorite games are

Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VII, Garou: Mark Of The Wolves, Radiant Silvergun, Battle Garegga, Metal Slug 3 and Symphony of the Night. All off the top of my head, but they're definitely all in my all-time top-10.

SotN is somewhat of a deviation. I don't play platformers outside of the CV-series. I play Japanese RPG's and SRPG's, vertical shooters, 2d-fighters on the Neo and basketball games. Yep, I'm a basketball nut, so I guess playing a game of NBA Inside Drive 2004 a day, keeps me from hating the fact that we only get one NBA game a week on the telly over here. Throw in a game of multiplayer PES3 and Samba De Amigo, and you've got a pretty good idea of what I spend my time with.

- What systems you collect for

SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Neo Geo AES, PS1, PS2, Xbox, GC, NGPC, GBA, PC Engine and Dreamcast. Not too into the pre 16-bit era. Forget about me owning anything Atari.

- What you do in "real life"

I'm a student currently finishing off the third and last year of Technical High School. School system is different from the one found in the US and UK, and it would take too much space to explain ;)

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

Had a large amount of PSX games for a while, but I didn't start collecting before the summer of 2002. No shit ;) It started with a Saturn, outside of the current gen systems, and then followed Genesis and SNES systems and games en masse. At least to me it's considered en masse ;) Within the last 6 months I've added the ultimate wallet emptying retro systems, the Neo Geo AES and the PC Engine (DUO) to my collection. The whole thing can be seen in my signature. Lately I've been watching a lot of japanese TV animation. I borrowed Neon Genesis Evangelion Perfect Collection early in 2004, and it rocked my world. I've since bought Death & Rebirt and End, and I plan on purchasing FLCL and the first half of GTO within the next few months. Later I borrowed His & Her Circumstances, which only served to confirm my belief that Anno + Gainax = Some Of The Best Stuff Evar. I now consider myself a seriously deprived anime fan, since I don't really have the money to buy much of anything else than games for the AES these day.

I also collect Star Wars stuff. I began collecting games seriously in mid 80's, and started to collect games magazines since '89 and still do. Also I do reviews in spanish at www.palanquita.com, this site was founded by a group of friends and I, we host many fighting games tournaments. I'm glad I found this site, DP is THE authority in the video games collecting, period.

Hello, everybody.

I am 16 years old and love good, old gaming. Some of my favorite video game consoles are the Turbo Duo/PC Engine, NES, SNES, various Sega systems, Neo Geo AES/MVS, and old arcade games. I also love older PC games along with old computer systems like the Apple II, Commodore 64, and Amiga.

My favorite genres of games are action-RPGs, shooters (horizontal or vertical), standard-rpgs, and 2D fighting games.

Ys Book I & II for the Turbo Grafx 16 CD system is my favorite game of all time for it's compelling story, easy controls, and outstanding soundtrack. Falcom has made some of the best action-RPGs I have ever played.

There are too many fantastic shooters to consider one as my favorite, but some of my favorites are: Blazing Lazers (TG16), Gates of Thunder (Duo), Insector X (Genesis), Metal Slug series (Neo Geo), and R-Type (arcades and various platform releases).

That's basically me. 8-)

I'm Shawn Hopkins, from Regina, Kentucky. I'm a 28-year-old mild mannered reporter for a multi-weekly newspaper called the Appalachian News-Express (www.news-expressky.com).

My first system was an Atari 2600. I can remember spending a summer day flipping the score of the Atari 2600 Defender, on one of the easier levels. I also remember my dad taping down one of the buttons with a popsicle stick to more easily play some game, I think it was Centipede. Since our family never had a computer, I mostly stayed on the console side of gaming until I went to college.

My favorite games tend to be RPGs and adventure games. I'd have a hard time listing a number one game, because I'm not good at ranking things, but I love Fallout, Pitfall, Moonsweeper, the Dragon Warrior games, Half-Life, Super Mario Brothers, Secret of Monkey Island, Loom, Sam and Max Hit the Road, Lunar Silver Star Story, Suikoden and the Shadowrun games for SNES and Genesis.

I don't really have the reflexes for tough games like some shooters, but I like to play them sometimes anyway. I beat games more through tenacity than great skill, so you'll probably never see me post about a game I beat on one life. I'm not into sports so I don't play many sports games.

I'd like to consider myself equal parts gamer and collector, but I have to admit I have a couple hundred games I haven't beaten and dozens I've never played, except maybe to check that they work. I used to focus almost entirely on CD-based systems, mostly Sega CD and my collection for that is probably my most complete. I have a lot of 3DO games, too. Lately I've been getting back into carts, though, especially NES.

I collect for: Sega CD, 3DO, NES, Genesis, Sega Saturn, 32X, Master System, Turbografx-16 and Gameboy. I have a few N64 games I still need to get, and I buy PS1 RPGs and adventure games released on the console. If I had working SNES and Dreamcast consoles I would collect for them. I also play the three modern consoles. I'll pretty much collect anything if I can find it and it looks interesting.

I use Ebay for collecting, but I prefer to find things in the wild. I'm also a collector of comic books, which is, if anything, the greater obsession (several thousand books), so when I go to flea markets I hunt for both equally. If I find a game based on a comic that's a big bonus. I'm also into anime.

How you found the forums
honestly dont remember exactly lol it was either while i was doing an internet search for the super 8/tristar (i was looking at one that was taken off ebay possibly the same one that was sold here??) either that or i was sent here via link from nesworld. possibly both.

What your favorite games are
basically i'm a role player/quester. i do like tetris and jeopardy etc too

What systems you collect for
NES, SNES, N64, PSX, PC, and just started Gameboy and Gameboy Color (my mommy and daddy wouldn't get me one when i was little - so i convinced myself i didn't want one cause it was b & w)

What you do in "real life"
i work for a large financial company - but i'm just a peon. going back to school for teaching degree

Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I have been an avid gamer since i was about 6 or 7. with the natural break periods here and there. my neighbor had an atari (2600?? i think had pong and pitfall and donkey kong) they also had one of those nifty radio schack 64k computers (you know the ones with the keyboar attached to the monitor and the floppy goes in next to the keyboard) then they got a MAC. then NINTENDO came out!!!! and i got my very own after some begging. Super Mario Brothers hooked me on nintendo and Zelda hooked me on RPGs for life. my sister also had the first or a very early PC version of POR (i believe that is the correct D&D game) she also had a text game i believe called the leather goddess of phobos or something to that effect. then my parents decided to get a computer!!! and i got my very first PC questing game Kings Quest 1!!!! i also got Below the Root (great game but oh the aggervation!!) the black cauldron, lode runner and marble madness a few of my favorites from my old pc. i also got a SNES one year for xmas. this is where i sort of fell off a bit - puberty/high school all that. then N64 came out and i wanted one sooo bad so i got out the old credit card and bought one and banjo kazooie. then i put it up for awhile along with all the others until i rediscovered the original NES and finally got a playstation (year 2000!) so last year i discovered/realized eBay had old games! so i bought a few and took a breather until last month i started buying some more. i currently have about 90 NES, a handful of SNES and same of N64, i have quite a few PC games. i think i even still have some 5 1/4" floppy games somewhere. i have all kings quest (up to VII) i also play online some (thanks to diablo i'm hooked online) but the only game i play online is diablo 2 LOD. i have everquest, ultima, starcraft, warcraft but i have barely played them and never played EP or UO. i play POR-RoMD single player and arcanna single player, balders gate single player and i like fallout. well i think thats more than enough i could go on and on but i wont
i'm just glad to have found this place - none of my friends really get why i spend so much time and money on these games... my boyfriend doesn't say too much though because he's as obsessed with arrowheads as i am with games. :) anyway i'm not really into collecting for money - more for personal entertainment but i did recently purchase a small lot of games on ebay with the intention of reselling the junk games i didn't want. i do play my games as much as i can which lately isn't much. ive recently discovered RPGs i didn't know existed. my exposure in this town is limited. anyhow that really is enough

i forgot to add i'm a big sci-fi 'geek' and i collect comics (mostly x-men) but i had quite a few old comics i've lost over the years. i also read alot of fantasy - not really a sci-fi reader though i'd rather watch sci fi.

Hi, my name is David Perry. I am a junior at LeTourneau University in Longview, TX. Some of my favorite games are Snatcher, Xenogears, Panzer Dragoon Saga, FFVII, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and pretty much any Capcom, SNK, and Sammy fighter.

Well, here goes...

My name is Tony and I live about 25 miles north of Chicago, IL. By day I am a CPA, by night a gamer, and by late-night a girl-chasing booze hound. 8-) I am 27 years old and have been an avid gamer since birth. I have dubbed myself a video game bard as I am a collector of a wide variety of systems and game genres, but master of none. My current collection is about 600 games and growing every day. I still need to complete my IGN list.

The majority of my game time is spent playing RPGs (currently Everquest Online Adventures) and Hack 'n Slash type co-op games like Baldur's Gate (with the roommate).

As far as classics go, I am currently playing Stampede on the 2600, Popful Mail and Lunar SSS on the Sega CD, Crystalis on the NES, Daedelus Encounter on 3DO, and Shining the Holy Ark on the Saturn. I am also getting that annual itch to bust out each of the Legend of Zelda titles.

Other interests include volleyball, softball, and golf. And, as I mentioned previously boozin' it up once in a while.

I have been visiting the boards for quite some time now and I would like to say thanks to many of you who have provided such fantastic information and guidance. There are some true experts out there that have saved me a pretty penny or two. I only hope that I can contribute once in a while. I also thoroughly enjoy the E-Bay insanity conversations as they tend to put a smile on my face at work.

Happy gaming all and may each of your E-Bay auction dreams come true!

Hello everyone, my name is Nick. I found out about digital press about a month ago and signed up an account yesterday. The forums are fantastic. It is a great place to find just about everything in video games.

I'm a computer technician by day and a retro gamer by night. I'm 32 and have been playing since I was 7. My collection includes an Atari 2600, SMS, TG16, and PS/2. My true love is my Atari, which I have converted into direct a/v out (no more screen flickering.) I'm amazed that people still make home brew games for the system and I've got a few of them.

I'm glad to have found a place to exchange ideas (and high scores) with others with the same interests as me. Rock On!

Hey all, I'm Tony. I'm 21, and I'm from St Louis, MO. I work for Working America, a lobbying group affiliated with the AFL-CIO. When I'm not playing games, I'm usally reading up on politics or out at a park.

I've been a gamer for as long as I can remember. My first system was a Colecovision (mmmm...Donkey Kong and Zaxxon...), which I played quite a lot. I didn't go off the deep end until my family got an NES when I was seven, though.

I don't really collect, cause I like to play my games to completion before I start a new one. I am going to start buying and selling soon though.

I can't remember how I started coming here. I think there was a link in an article in the Classics section of 1up.com.

Anyways, I look forward to talking with lots of great people here!

My name is Andrew, I'm 21 and from Norwich, Connecticut. I started out on the Commodore 64 and NES, later moved onto Genesis, PS1, Dreamcast, and now PS2. I still kick myself for selling most of my old games but I'm starting to play and collect the old NES classics again. You can check out my IGN collector's list: http://users.ign.com/collection/Lord007

Rare stuff I have are a couple Sega T-Shirts and a SegaNet Scooter that I won after almost winning Sega's nationwide Quake III Arena tournament on Dreamcast. I also have R.O.B. for NES and Bible Adventures, but that stuff isn't that rare I guess.

I mainly use the name Lord007 for all online games, if you have played Q3A on DC you most likely saw me there. Now I play PS2 online, but not nearly as much as I used to on Dreamcast.

I'm also a Playstation Gamer Advisory Panel member, but so aren't a lot of people so it's not that special.

You can check out my old Quake 3 clan site: http://www.angelfire.com/games3/ros

My other hobby is my 80's RWD Celica: http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/amor/84gts.html

Now that I'm back into NES again, I play that more then PS2 now. All those old memories growing up I can relive again thanks to eBay and a few lucky yard sale finds. I plan on getting all the great NES games, while collecting a few rare finds here and there. I will hopefully get an SNES too, I'm a gamer at heart and there were so many great games I'd rather be playing right now compared to new PS2 releases.

I found this site after searching for an NES rarity/games list. Wow what a great find. There are some really crazy NES enthusiasts on here!

My plans for the future are to move to Phoenix Arizona where the rest of my family lives and buy a house where I can get a great job, and have a room just for games. Right now I work at http://www.daticon.com but I can't say what I do there because it's confidential -_- . I currently live with my girlfriend Amanda who is also a gamer (I lucked out on that one! :D ) in our first apartment. I'm lacking some serious great NES games like Zelda and River City Ransom that I previously sold to buy a Genesis, now I'm on eBay daily trying to get them all back.

Never again will I sell a videogame unless I have doubles of it. I want to grow old and let my children play the true classics on Atari and NES, by the time they are old enough to realize it, a PS2 and Xbox will be considered rare to them LOL .

Something I just noticed last night while making my IGN collection list, I'm only 3 Dreamcast Magazine Demo's short of having the complete collection. I better start finding those now before they become non-existent!

Feel free to email or IM me about anything you like!

Hi, My name is Timothy and I'm 26 year old. I live in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. I am Canadian and I am proud to be Canadian. I found this website from search internet. I love to play with classic is NES, SNES, Sega Master System and Sega Genesis. I love play Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES when I was kid. My Story is my first time with video games when I was 6 year old in 1984 is Atari but I can't remember which is 2600 or 5200. I have a Atari for less 2 years but Atari system went broken it and my mom did take Atari to trash it because I was soo addicted play with video games make my mom thinking that video games make me turn bad way. In 1987, my best friend got Sega Master System then my best friend and I been play too much together as addicted with video games till 1990, when I was 12 year old and finally I got NES from XMAS. My mom did respect on me because I been begging her to get video games what I really want it so bad and my mom never forgot about Atari make me addicted it. In 1991, I got SNES from XMAS from my mom again, my mom did make me happy and more happy. After 1992, I got Game Boy, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis and Sega CD. In September 1995, when Virtual Boy was released in store and I knew it they will go to out of business because I can feeling it so I did went go to K-Mart Store and I did bought New Virtual Boy with AC Adapter, Mario's Tennis and Wario Land for about $ 325.00 Canadian Dollars. I did paid it when I was only 17 year old. After 1996, I got Game Boy Pocket, N64, PS, Game Boy Color, PSOne, PS2, Game Boy Advance, GameCube and Game Boy Advance SP. Right now I do love with 3-D games is Medal of Honor: Frontline, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, Freedom Fighters, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Conflict: Desert Storm, Conflict: Desert Storm II Back to Baghdad, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Need for Speed: Underground, Red Faction II, True Crime: Streets of L.A., Grand Theift Auto: Vice City, Enter The Matrix, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Mario Kart: Double Dash. My Collection is ONLY Nintendo, Sega and Sony because I have a many reason. Nintendo was best seller for long years. Sega was best seller in the past then now Sony was best seller on PS and PS2. Sony has over 1,200 games on PS and 700 games on PS2, thats why I am very Interesting on Only Nintendo, Sega and Sony for my collection. :D

Hello all, I'm Andrew. I think I've lurked here enough, and I've finally decided to show myself. I'm a sophomore, so that's as far as I'll go for age. I found this site via google. I'm a NES Collector with 300+ games, and two top-loaders. I'm also partial to Sega, and I like to collect for the Genesis, but I'm not even close on that(I think I'm at roughly 100.). I've been collecting for ten years now, and it's been a blast. Well, I hope to see you all soon on the boards.

Hi, my name is James. I'm 47 yrs old and live in Florida. I don't consider myself a "Collector". Someone might mistake me for a "Gamer" because I have many games for many systems and though I have enjoyed them all, I've actually finished very few. Apparently, because I'm either stupid, uncoordinated or dyslectic - possibly all three. My gaming habits involve cursing anyone near me while I play for "jinxing me". Just ask my family. And, uhhh, ohhh yeah, I feel that throwing controllers is a mature response.

I've ended up not owning two games of each title, as might a "Collector", but owning two consoles for each system. That's because I have children and, dammit, they hog it all the time!

A year or so ago I found myself thinking. I've got these consoles (Atari 5200, NES, SNES, N64, PS2, and Xbox) and each has some titles that were purchased for some reason or another, why don't I do a thorough search, read lots and lots of reviews and find out what people think are the best games ever released for each system. Say a B rating or better. Then I'll try and acquire as many as I possibly can and, hopefully, someday complete each list.

That's how I found this board. About a month ago while trying a get a list for the best games ever on the Sega Genesis, a system I never owned, I came across a thread in which people here were discussing the best Genny games . I liked the list the thread produced and the debate that went on to come up with it and decided to register. One month later I had a very nice Sega Genesis 2 and 63 titles. Only 12 more to go. Whoo Hoo!

So far I haven't completed any of my lists, but I am very close on most. It's resulted in 23 titles for Atari 5200, 130 for NES, 91 for SNES, 52 for N64, 158 for PS1, 107 for PS2, 39 for Xbox and of course, now my new Genny. To anyone who might have participated in that thread, I thank you.

I’m James. I just turned 23 and live in Texas. I read about Digital Press in an issue of EGM, one day I was bored and starting lurking on the forum. I was hooked, finally a video game board that wasn’t filled with immature kids and assholes.

I like play all types of games but I must say that 2-D fighters and anything SEGA are probably my favorites. I collect for: NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, PS1, PS2, DC, and Xbox. My collection started because I’m a pack rat, I never give anything away. Now I have over 250 games and actively search for missing titles. The hunt is just as fun, sometime more fun than playing the game.

I‘ve been a poor college student for four and a half years now so my collection is small. I’m search for a job now and when I get one I expect my collection to explode.

I don’t expect to be posting much; I’m a lurker at heart. I think it’s only right I introduce myself anyway because I am a part of the community.

Hello!

My name is J. Michael Bottorff, and I live in a town about two hours away from St. Louis, Mo. I found the forums on a link page at NES World. My taste in games is like my taste in music; I'll try anything once. I like RPGs with its grand plots, and its use of skill and strategy; but I've never turned down a good "twitch" game.

I collect games for NES, SNES, Sega Master System, Nintendo 64, Genesis, Dreamcast, PS2, and whatever other systems I can get my grubby little hands on. Right now, I'm a full time student, but come June I'll be working at a summer job at a summer camp. (Makes sense, huh?)

Greetings All,
My name is Kenny and I'm a game-aholic. But seriously, I collect NES games, and RPGs for almost any system. I prefer console games to PC games for some reason, though I do play some PC games (mostly Sim, strategy, and RPGs). I work too much, so I have the money to buy games, but not as much time to play them as I would like. I'm actually trying to get into the business of selling games, but it's slow going at the moment.

Oh and I'm 22, Aries, and Pagan.

Hello everyone,
I'm John from Edmonton Alberta. I'm 37 and I've been collecting games for about 20 years. My collection has really grown in the last few years.
I collect games for SMS, NES, SNES, Genesis/CD/32X, TG16/CD, 3DO, Jaguar/CD, Saturn, PS1, PS2, N64, Dreamcast, GC, XBOX, and Cd-i.
I play a lot of RPGs and sports games but I enjoy other types as well.
I'm hoping this place will be a good resource to help me find some games to get. I just don't know what to buy anymore.
See you all on the forums.

Hey there..

I've been posting around a bit already, but never introduced myself.I'm Niels, and live in the Netherlands. Since a few years I've been coming back into gaming. I own not a lot yet, but I've been buying ever since, new and old. At this moment I own a PS2, GC, Panasonic Q, DC, Megadrive, GBA and a Neo Geo Pocket. I'm waiting for my salary so I can buy another old game system soon.. I'm thinking about a Saturn or N64... And I also need to buy my long lost SNES back... How I regret it that I lend it to a friend and he broke it... (long time ago) I'm concentrating mostly at updating my Megadrive and Dreamcast collection at the moment. So, see ya around.. :)

My name's Pedro Lambrini and I'm a musician (bassist) by day and a Geek by night - unless I'm gigging of course, in which case I'm really pretty cool!! 8-) Like most cool people I'm from sunny Edinbrugh in Scotland (just north of England!)

I'm 31 and have been gaming since I can remember - my first gaming memory is playing Pong on an old Grandstand...Boy am I getting old. My first computer was a shiny Vic-20 and I've loved games ever since.

My worst flaw is that I spend a relative fortune on games and memorabilia but I am actually really crap and always get stuck. I really hate End-Of-Level Baddies!!! :D

I used to collect Amiga games but recently have went console crazy and now spend megabucks on SNES and Dreamcast stuff - although my favourite would have to be my SNES!! This is probably due to the fact that I couldn't afford the games back then and can now purge all my wants from my teenage years!

Hello all. I'am Danny McMann, aka- Rocky Raccoon.

Now..where do I live? I live in New Engliand, Massachusetts. Near the Lowell area. for sake of priivacy matters, I won't go much past that. but meh.

I'm a Realitive Newbie to the collecting aspect of Retrogaming. I've been around the systems all my life, however...when my dad got me on his C-64 at the age of say..6. .. then came along an Atari of some sort..wow. that was so long ago I don't even know entirely what that system was. I defiantly want to say it was an Atari however.... and don't even get me started on the Action Max... -shiver-. (The Atari died and was canabalized over time. the C-64 we still have actually somewhere..and the Action Max got sold at a yard sale... THANK GOD. )

Now..I said I was a newbie to COLLECTING . of course. I only recently got into collecting of systems and by-gone consoles. at the moment I have a Sega Genesis Model 2/Sega CD combo, Dreamcast ... and I have a Sega Saturn in the mail as we speak comin to me. :D. aswell, I'm supposed to pick up some guys Atari 2500 eventually, with a few games. but most of all...I want a 3DO for some strange un-godly reason... :>

Anyways. thats my story. hope to be able to stick to it here. :).

I just joined today and thought I'd say something about me!

The name is Usagi (it isn't my real name but so many friends that I met online call me Usagi in real life it kinda stuck) and I'm from San Francisco, Ca. I work in retail and a very poor college student. I'm 24 and LOVE VIDEO GAMES!!

Been playing since the days of the NES. I went through 4 of them due to my brothers temper. The boy had wonderful timing though because everytime he broke one, they released the action set or the power pad set.

I currently own a Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64 Pikachu Edition, Hello Kitty Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2, Game Boy Color and a GBA SP. I have a buttload of games. :D My favorite all time games are of course the Mario series (Yay for Mario Bros 3 and Paper Mario) and Samba de Amigo.

The way I found this group was, I posted in another forum about needing Boxes for my games and I was told about this place and here I am!!!

Hello Everybody Hi Dr. Nick
Oh sorry always wanted to do that

Hi Guys and Gals, I'm Chris Barnes, 24 years old from Wilson, North Carolina. Married 2 years to my wonderful and loving wife Jennifer(imagine a cross b/t Nicole Kidman and Heather Graham hubba hubba) we have just had our first child
Nathaniel James on January 30, 2004, (Daddy loves you little guy) hence my username.

I have been playing video games eversince I can remember and at one time or the other I have had all the major game systems
Starting back with playing Frogger and Pac Man with my older brother and cousins, to owning my very own NES first game was ExciteBike(sadly older brother took the NES in 96 i believe). I've had Genesis, N64, PS1 and PS2, Xbox, even have a vintage Turbo Grafx 16 that I still play today. Currently playing Genesis, Turbo Grafx 16, Playstation 2 and NES.

I love playing all the game systems but I truly believe I'm more of a vintage gamer since my NES gets played the most around the house by both Jennifer and myself. I love the rush of getting good deals on classic games at Flea Markets and yardsales. Well enough about me I'll go and read about everyone else now
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey folks!

My name is Carl, I'm 34 and I live in Illinois with my wife, two kids, and my cat Roadkill.

I am a computer tech with hobbies in the world of music (been playing guitar for almost 30 years), movies (classic horror, horror, silent film, and old comedies), sculpting and kit building.

I'm a newbie more or less with the game systems, and only am really interested in the old stuff from my childhood, such as my Intellivision that I am trying to hook up, which lead me here.

I might get more into this stuff though, thanks to this site and others of the sort.

Hoi. New around here, but a certain thread has caught my eye. I'll do this the lazy way... ;)

- Who you are

My name is Matt.

- Where you live

Just a couple miles south of San Francisco.

- How you found the forums

I was searching Google looking for information on backing up Famicom Disk System games and came across a thread here.

- What your favorite games are

EEP! Um... This is tough. I'd have to say the much-maligned Mario Bros is well up there (probably the Apple ][ version being the most playable, in my book), Snake, Rattle & Roll would be my fave cartridge game, and EA's California Dreams on the C64 has to be my overall favorite. I have plenty more, but that would make a really (REALLY) long post...

- What systems you collect for

At the moment, my interests are Apple ][ and NES/Famicom.

- What you do in "real life"

I'm a "paid geek". My job has a fancy title, but I like mine better... :D

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I've been playing video games for a goodly number of years on a variety of platforms (including early personal computers), but have learned that the best games tend to be the older ones. This isn't the place for a philosophy flamewar, so I'll not elaborate. :)

I'm at a point now where I can look back and go "DAMN. I should have kept all that crap. It's impossible to find now..." So, I'm hell-bent on finding a few of the things I want, while trying my damnedest to avoid collecting too much crap I don't want nor need...

If there's anything else you want to know, just PM me! 8-)

My name is Mark, I'm 22, and I'm from Warner Robins, Georgia. I found Digital Press while doing a Google Image search for "All Your Base Are Belong To Us." I watched the River City Ransom work it, and thought it was one of the greatest things ever. Later on, I signed up for the forums.

I'm a full time student right now working on getting my degree in Web Design. Me and a couple friends of mine are planning on starting a band very soon. We're gonna be called Chris' Evil Monkey (Family Guy rocks!). I play bass and sing lead.

Some of my favorite games are...

River City Ransom
Donkey Kong
Zone of the Enders
Harvest Moon
Chrono Trigger
Crazy Taxi
Uniracers
Unreal Tournament

I'm a big Retrogamer.

Hello all. My name is Jeremy. I'm from Southern Ontario Canada and I've been an Atari fan since its original release. I've got a modest Atari collection. You can read more about it at my trade page. I also love the colecovision but have yet to get my hands on one. Aside from classic gaming I'm a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs (don't laugh) hence the name and avatar.

I stumbled onto DP originally to check the rarity of certain games and eventually gravitated over to the forums. I spend a lot of my online time at atariage so you'll see me post there most often.

I started collecting around the early 90's. My wife got me hooked on yard sales when i picked up a junior and about 30 games for $15 dollars.

Some of my biggest scores were through advertising in the local papers in the 1994. I paid $125 Cdn. for about 400 games, 350 unique. Many which would be considered in the rarity 7/8 category. I made the mistake of selling it all about a year later to upgrade my 486 computer. Yes I feel sick just thinking about it now. It was in around 1999-2000 that I started collecting again through yard sales, thrift stores, and eventually (gag) ebay. My biggest recent scores were a vader with 120 games for $10 at a yard sale and several dozen boxed games at a local Value Village priced at a whopping 69 cents for a pack of two.

Well, thats about enough from me. Thanks for having me aboard! :)

Howdy Folks... My name is Jerry. I live in SE Kansas and am a gadget freak. I have started collecting electronic games of all types from the early hand-held football, to whatever else i can happen to afford. (nothing more recent than a ps1, though, so far.) I believe i have 1 of each of the USA versions of the 2600s (incl Sears Telegames) and several games, both versions of the Odyssey2 (which was the only video game system i had as a kid). I also have lots of early computers and the like. My collections are weak compared to the pictures of some of your game rooms, but ill try to get some pics so you can get an idea. I have a VERY diverse collection, but nothing real "RARE" than i can tell... anyway hello, all.

I've been posting these boards for some time now so I might as well introduce myself. :)

My name is Turkka, I'm 24 year old gamer/collector from Tampere, Finland

I've been gaming a long time and started collecting about 10 years a go, in the 5 last years somewhat increasing the speed. My collection is slowly but surely heading towards the 1,5k mark and consists mainly of Sega games.
Actually I'm not picky about the platform. Anything, whether it's old or new, console or computer, will do.

I have a special interest in anything by my favorite developer, Treasure. Please see my sig if you think you could help me getting some of their stuff. ;)
My fave games are Alien Soldier, Mischief Makers, Sega Rally, Colin McRae series and Grand Prix Legends. Shmups and Racing are my thing.

In my "real life" I study Machine Design in Tampere University of Technology. Yawn. In my spare time I enjoy watching motorsports (rallies), listen to music (anything from Björk to Guns 'n Roses to Nick Cave Nirvana to Smokie Robinson to Van Halen, just keep your Limps and Links) and I like arts, too.
Now there's a mixed bag.

I've met some nice people here and the numbers grow every day. Talk to you soon, bye.

Robin F.
05-31-2004, 07:13 PM
Hi there!

I'm Robin F., Electrical Engineering student at Delft University, the Netherlands. I came to this website through a link in "the" Atari 2600 FAQ.

My first computer games were a number of single-game LCD handhelds in the early '90s. Things really got going when I won a Game Boy in 1992 or so. A few years later my parents bought a SNES for my brother & I, which I spent countless hours with. But after beating Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3 I got bored with it and shifted my attention to PC simulation games (Civilization, Transport Tycoon etc).

I started collecting old computers at the end of 1999, when I found an badly beaten 286 next to a dumpster. My room is now pretty packed with about two dozen steel beasts housing anything from 8088 to Pentium MMX processors :o , most of which (I hate to admit) I never use.

After a rather short transition period when I collected mid-80s home computers (Commodore, MSX and the like), I'm now mainly focused on classic game consoles. The consoles I have in my collection are:

Mattel Intellivision
Atari 2600
Philips Videopac G7000
Nintendo Game Boy Classic
Atari Lynx II
Nintendo NES
Nintendo SNES

My focus is now mainly on the NES, because I find it such a fascinating system. I'm trying to gather all first generation NES games (Golf, Tennis, Rad Racer, Excitebike etc) and all games that I find "weird" in one way or another(Where's Waldo, Spy vs. Spy, Gumshoe). I'm hoping to get an R.O.B. some day, which is tricky since it was never released in Europe as far as I know.

On a smaller scale, I collect games for the 2600 and Intellivision, mainly because they can be picked up at any flea market for anywhere between 10 cents and one Euro each :)

I'm also aiming at getting a Virtual Boy some day, but like the R.O.B. it was never released in Europe, so I'll have to start saving some money if I'm ever going to buy one

I'm a collector of NES. I get a lot of other systems too, but I trade them off for more Nintendo stuff!

Up to about 200 games now, about 50 in box. I have many rares, but my favorite has to be my Caltron 6 in 1 that I got for $5 at a flea market 8-)

Hey all, I'm Brett from Oviedo Florida (about 2 min from orlando). I'm 22 years old and will be graduating from UCF in Computer Science at the end of this summer. I don't remember how I stumbled upon this website. I've been coming here for a year, but have now decided to get involved with the forums. I'm a huge Nintendo fan. I mainly collect original NES stuff. I need less than 100 games to complete my cart collection, currently (WOOHOO :). I plan on trading a lot of my extra stuff soon so I can finish my collection and help others finish theirs. I have too many favorite games to mention. My best find so far was Guardian Heroes for Sega Saturn for $4 at a flea market.

I started collecting about 3 years ago. There is a bit of story to it. I had previously been in a relationship for 2 1/2 years, and we were about to get engaged when in tragically ended. So now I had tons of free time, and needed something to keep me busy so I didn't have to think about everything. So, I pulled out the old nintendo, and then visited the flea market. I then decided that collecting old nintendo games would be a great hobby. So then it began. I remember when I was really little. I had a dream one night that I owned like 50 games, and it was the best dream in the world. I was 10, of course it was awesome. Anyway, I've finally got to fulfill that dream, HA (I'm a dork, I know, but I'm at the right place). Anyway, that about sums me up.

I'm Bryan from Illinois. I heard about this web site from a friend of mine. Bought the book read a bunch and then decided to join in. My favorite games is one of the most difficult questions you can ask. This is my lame attemt at naming some of my favorites of the moment:
1. Xenogears
2. Castlevania: SOTN
3. Ninja Gaiden (XBOX)
4. Radiant Silvergun
5. Ikaruga
6. Metal Slug 3
7. FF VII

Right now I'm trying to collect for all systems. The systems that I'm looking to pick up currently are a Turbo Duo and a Neo Geo AES (that is modded to play both AES and MVS carts). In real life I currently work at a music Video Game store called slackers. I began Collecting when I was 5 or 6. My dad bought me a NES a subscription to Nintendo Power that came w/ Dragon Warrior, and I was hooked. I've been a RPG freak since that first day. I currently have 20 some systems and a crap load of games, but I am always expanding my collection. Next stop more Import systems.

Hello, I am new here. I have been "collecting" for a while, but I cant say for sure exactly when I began. I go to the University of Michigan. I dont really have much to say, I was just wondering if there was a way to post my collection (which isnt much compared to some I've seen), which I have recorded on two .txt files. Any suggestions?

Hello, my name is Jake and I just found out about this site via message boards on the CAG site. I'm 26 and a CPA, and I'm starting law school in the fall. I live in Warren, OH and am an avid collector of all things video-game related, and own approx. 19 consoles and 600+ games, with another 2500 or so if you count the C64. I'm not sure if I have any rarities, but I do have a combo video game/board game for the Odyssey called Conquer the World or something similar which seems pretty cool.

Hello my name is Daniel Scott. I live in Fort Worth, Texas I found this at the digital press website. My favorite games are Timesplitters 2 (GC), solar quest (vectrex), venture (colecovision), berserk (atari2600), Tetis Attack (SNES), Parasol Stars (TurboGrafx), and Mr. Driller (Dreamcast). I do enjoy a good sports game, but they are far inbetween. I'm not a RPG fan, because they take too long and I don't have the patience. Systems I own: Atari2600, Intellivision w/ voice module, colecovision, vectrex, NES, SNES, N64, PSone, dreamcast, genesis, saturn, SMS, Sega Game Gear, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color, R Zone, various handhelds. I own roughly 300 games not including games on my mac. My real job is a graphic designer. I deal with printed material (offset, shirts, promotional products). It's boring but it pays the bills. I'll see you at the Austin Expo this year, whenever it happens.

Hello, my name is Brad and I'm a classic gaming enthusiast. I currently collect over 600 games for several different systems, my biggest collectiong being Atari 2600 with almost 300 unique games (1 more to go). My 2nd biggest collection is NES with 122 games.

I post at Atariage, PlanetPS2, and NintendoArchive as Kepone. The only reason I have the "x" at the end of my name is because somehow, the name Kepone is already taken here.

I look forward to corrupting this forum with my interests in classic games and my long, heated discussions over nothing. :D

My name is Vince Bryant. I'm a 19 year old college student who lives in a small town near Seattle, Washington.

I was referred to these forums by an online friend after expressing desire to chat about classic games.

Favorite games? Well, whatever I'm having fun playing at the time, I guess.

Consoles: Atari VCS, Atari 400, Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, Turbografx 16, Super Nintendo, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Xbox

Real Life: I go to college, write for my college newspaper (will be on editing staff next year), perform in theater and musical theater, sing in choir, and occasionally work on-air shifts at a radio station. Oh, and to pay the bills I work at a corporate fastfood restaurant and sell merchandise for concerts at a local amphitheater.

It's not that I'm a collector, it's just that I don't get rid of anything.

Heylo. Erm. I'm from Liverpool in England. I'm an English Lit student in Uni and spend most of my time sleeping. Collect Amiga games mostly, but am starting to try get more SNES and Mega Drive games...tis hard to get hold of them in Liverpool. Cash Converters has some but they are now stuck behind the counter, and I don't like to ask. Wish they'd put them back in the basket...gits. Hmm erm, consoles/computers I have are.
Amiga 1200
CD32
CDTV (I have an Amiga magazine where they compare a CDTV to a piece of string, and the piece of string wins...go figure.)
Mega Drive
Mega CD
SNES
N64
Dreamcast
Game Gear
Playsation
Neo Geo Pocket Colour
Game Boy Colour (what a waste of money)
Spectrum ZX...disk version.

Now i'm boring myself so i'll stop typing. Oh my name is Brian...ain't that interesting.

Hi, my name is Roger and I live just south of Boston, MA. I'm 31 and I'm married with a son and another child on the way.

I've been hooked on video games since getting a Sears Pong game when I was about 4. I've owned a TI, an Apple IIc, Colecovision with the Atari module, C64 (greatest system ever), NES, Sega Genesis, GameGear, Playstation, PS1, Gameboy Advanced, XBox, GameCube, DreamCast and PS2. I think that's all of them ;) . Right now I only have the PS1 and PS2. I'm a sports game junkie but I do like some shooter type games and adventure stuff. In my opinion, the greatest games ever are DonkeyKong (Coleco), Hardball (C64), Blades of Steel (NES) and Tecmo Bowl (NES and Genesis).

I regret not keeping all those systems packed away. I'm now getting tempted to start collecting some (don't tell my wife).

My name is Dustin. I am a student at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan.

My systems:
Nintendo NES
Super Nintendo
Atari 2600
Nintendo Gameboy
Nintendo 64
Sega Genesis
Sega Dreamcast
Sony Playstation
Sony Playstation 2
Pong System

My most recent find was the Dreamcast with 2 games at a rummage sale for $3. Mainly I'm collecting NES games but i pick up whatever I find. My first system was the Atari 2600, which i still have the original but it doesn't work. I borrowed all of my games away and never got them back though. Ebay and Thrift stores helped me build that collection back up though. I came across Digital Press while looking for a rarity guide and I was hooked.

hi. i'm phib. i'm 22 and i'm from berlin, germany.

as i a kid i never had any video consoles and had always been envying those who had. ;_; recently, i've changed from pc gamer to console game, and started to buy me some consoles. up to now i have a snes, a n64, a gc and a gba sp. (yes, i'm kinda fixed on nintendo at the moment ;)). unforunately, i'm a poor student, so i don't have much money to actually buy me some games for those consoles.. ;/ but if i had the money, i wouldn't just focus on nintendo, i'd buy everything connected to video games i could get my hands on, cause i simply love any classic system and games. :)

Atari 2600

Hello, there!

I'm Jared Blankenship and I've been lurking on this board since I found it about 2 months ago. I like what I see and I like how the people are and I decided to finally join!

I'm 26 years old and I've been in the Navy since 1996 (my 18th birthday). I love it so far! I've seen and done alot already for someone my age. Before that, I worked various high school summer jobs.

I've been into games since I was 5 or 6. My first system was the good ol' Intellivision (which I still have to this day, AND it works!). I've been through the 8 and 16-bit era's and the newer systems. Although I'm not crazy about the new generation of game systems (nothing personal against them), I do like what they've done for the community as a whole.

I still collect for the Intellivision when I can, and I also collect for the NES and my (dearly loved) Sega Master System. I go and hunt games whenever the mood strikes me, but I'm not a regular at it.

Hope to be with you guys for awhile. See you on the boards! :D

Hi everyone. I just found this site though I have been collecting for a while. I lost my collection not to long ago to a divorce. She knew I loved all of them and made sure that they disappeared. But I'm starting over. Half the fun is tracking the stuff down again. I'm living in Kansas right now so if anyone is around here feel free to drop me a line.

Hi, I'm Andrew from St. Louis/St. Charles, MO. I don't so much see the point of introducing myself, because an introduction requires an audience, and I highly doubt anybody actually reads this thread with any sort of regularity. That being said, I'm bored at work, so what the hell...

I'm 19 and a student at UM-Rolla majoring in Computer Engineering and Math. I found this site in the middle of a Thermodynamics class (god bless WiFi) while googling info on Punch the Monkey and found a column from this site.

I've been playing video games as long as I can remember, but only collecting for a short while. In fact, I'd say I've officially been collecting for a couple weeks. Basically how I got started was I was at a pawn shop looking for a console that could house a micro-ATX board, and realized how much more I enjoyed "classic" games, so I bought a few NES games and thought I'd give a shot at fixing my NES. I got it working and quickly lurked the FS/FT forum here, and now I own 50 or so NES games. NES is the only stuff I "collect" but I still play most everything.

I'm obviously a big tech geek, so my interests are heavily skewed towards that end of the spectrum. I enjoy building computers from everyday objects. Some of my recent projects include a gas can and a briefcase. I also play alot of soccer and volleyball in an effort to negate my geekiness. My number two hobby, second only to video games, is music. I listen to pretty much everything but with a focus on Punk/Hardcore. The CD I'm listening to right now is Dillinger Escape Plan's "Calculating Infinity."

I don't play favorites with games because it hurts the other game's feelings. But I will say that I REALLY like this weeks NES Club game, River City Ransom.

I think I hit most of the bases, so I'll call it a wrap.

Oh and as a shot in the dark that somebody might actually read this thread, anyone here from the St. Louis area?

Hi I am new to the forums. I have been browsing the site for about a year though. I mostly post on AtariAge with the same name. I've been into video games since the early 80's when I was very young. I look forward to posting here on these forums.
My favorite system to collect for is the NES then the Atari 2600.
I have may systems of all kinds and over 1000 different games for different systems. One of my best finds in the wild was a boxed Oddyssy complete with everything included and 6 boxed games complete inside the original shipping box, all for $25.00

I look forward to sharing my knowledge and learning from others.

Hello, how is everyone? My name is Dylan and I am new here. As the gentleman said a few posts before me, I doubt if anyone ever reads these introductions, but just in case anyone ever does, here goes.

I am a third year college student at the University of Kentucky and I work at a local EB. I have a strong interest in horror fiction, regardless of the medium, and create some myself, in the form of short stories and a flick set to be filmed later this year entitled "Death of the Dead" (hence the screenname, obviously).

Gamewise, I'm fairly broad in my tastes. For years I thought I was an RPG junkie, then I realized I am just a good-storyline junkie. I enjoy games from more or less every genre, except sports, as long as the games are good, of course. That said, I have been accused of being an obscurist, but hey-if that is acceptable anywhere it would be here, I would think.

If everything goes according to plan (right now my internet access is not what anyone would call reliable), then expect to see me posting here quite a bit. Hopefully posting this will work this time--this is the second time I've had to write this.

Name's Joe, live in the Toledo, Ohio area. Found this site thru a link on 8 bit theatre quite a few months back from a thread about the game rooms section.

I've been playing games since I was 5, with my first NES system that I got on Christmas, and have amassed quite a collection since then, a lot of it simply from youth.

I'm a big RPG fan, but the older I've gotten (22) the more my tastes have expanded, and anymore I'll try anything, classic or recent, regardless of genre.

I started seriously collecting in 2002, and have since spent an obscene amount of money filling in all the holes in my collection, be it spare systems, new models of systems, or great/rare games I missed out on when I was younger and at the mercy of my parents for getting games. Much like my gaming tastes, my collecting tastes have been evolving as my hobby continues. I'm starting to desire "CIB/MIB" items, and unfortunately for me, the majority of my cartridge collection is without boxes, and usually, manuals. I'm collecting most systems, although I'm lacking in some of the more obscure departments, although I'm working on fixing that!

I've started to get to the point where I want to go to conventions, swap meets, and other such gaming occurances, as I used to do when I collected sports cards. So registering here instead of lurking is a good start for getting more into the internet side of the hobby, not Ebay, but to talk to fellow collectors.

So I look forward to becoming a member of this community, as the forums here are quite active, and very much interesting, at least to a collector like myself.

Hey there everyone. I just found this site about 2 weeks ago. It's a great place. I have recently started getting really into collecting NES games. I have always been a big NES fan, but just recently I actually started to get into actually doing this as a hobby. Anyway, that is I guess my introduction.

My name is Dan, and I live in Saskatchewan. Over the last two years I have started a collection of Intellivision consoles and games. I loved my Intellivision as a kid, but in Saskatchewan in the late 80's when the only place close to me that fixed them went out of business, it found a box in the attic. To my chagrin, I found out a few years later my parents had actually thrown out the whole lot, as they thought it was forever dead. I on the other hand, knew a day would come when I could and would revive it. Obviously, that day would never come.

Inspired by a family member buying NES cartridges on ebay a few years ago, I got the great idea to relive my childhood by looking up the intellivision. When I found pages of hits I thought I had gone to heaven. Today I have a collection of 62 unique games plus numerous duplicates. Two Inty 2609's (1 working), 2 Inty 2's(both work), and one Sears Super Video Arcade(not working) . Over the last couple of months I have been reading, hunting, and practicing electrical testing and repair operations, and am coming closer and closer to being able to actually fix the defunct systems myself and a few friends have. This site and forum have already been a good help.

Anyway, this intro has already reached a length worth publishing so I'll end with saying Hello to all classic gamers!

Also, thanks to omnedon for his emails of advice, and for directing me to this site.

Hello All!

My name is Steve and I am from California . I've been at this for along time. I started collecting since the early 80's. At the time Ive already had my Atari's INTVs and my Coleco. Then in High School ,mid 80s, started to collect because I loved it. There wasn't really any value. The Crash happened and everything was cheap and plentyful. Im one of those proud owners Of Joe's first edition of the collector's guide. Was a sub to DP at one time. Still have um and my old EG's. I left around 1999 and sold most of my collection. Including games and systems that are now rare, like Intellivision's First Drop in Computer Module and one of the First test INTVs sold in Fresno, CA.I live in the area and the Actual Dept store that sold the early test INTVs still had one Brand NEW and had an INTV kiosk. In ten years Why it wasnt thrown out or sold. I don't know. The manager didn't even know. They even still had Mattel handhelds. I had a friend that started work there and let me know what they had. Boy I jumped on it. I had AdventureVision w/box and all the carts bought at a yard sale in 1988 for $10.00 People were happy to get rid of this stuff. there was no value at the time. At A Toys r'us they had loads of Vectrex carts in the back including the 3D glasses. I got them for nothing. they couldn't find a price so I made an offer. I look back at that time with fondness and realized how lucky I was. It was treasure hunting for me. but like everyone else, things and priorities changed. It was hard but I had to do it.

Im back in it now but can't believe how much the games have increased in value or price. You go to Thrift store 10 years ago and old Atari games were 50 cents to 2 bucks at the most and plentyful. Now I got some yahoo telling me that is" rare" and wants me to pay 40 to 50 bucks for it. I just saw a ebay auction for a Atari" heavy sixer" $300.00? Just like buying them new in 77' Hell I had three of them and paid no more then 10 bucks apiece for them.

I made up my mind to collect newer systems. Ive Got My PSX and PS 2. Gamecube, Saturn and Dreamcast. Last but not least My Xbox. I'm just going to enjoy playing games. No spending a fortune on " rare" one of a kind limited editions. Nope ...just collectiing games to play.

Hope I can be of help and share my views and insights.

Hi all,

I'm Luke, I live in Sydney which is the capital of NSW the lastest (by population) state in Australia. It seems there are a couple of aussies here which is good. :) I am 25 and work as an economist ;)

I have been a "guest" on the boards for a few months and enjoy reading people's posts. I found this site via the "Room of Doom" section which I think is very impressive to see.

I mostly collect NTSC version systems (Australia is PAL) and focus on the following:

SNES
PSone
Saturn
DC
PS2
GC
GBA

I am finalising a deal for a Genesis 2 and a few games so that will be another console to collect for. I am also planning to get an XBOX and the X-Select D4 so I can connect the XBOX to a 21" VGA monitor to view games in progressive scan mode( I already have the HD A/V pack and Panzer Dragoon Orta). :)

I like 2d side scollers and shooters primarily but like modern games such as the Ratch and Clank series and Maximo series etc.

I have most of the above systems connected via RGB SCART for optimal viewing pleasure:)

Cheers
Luke

Hi, my name is Jimmy and I live in Clarksville Tennessee. I don't exactly remember how long ago I found this site and knew about these forums but I know its been a few years, I just never got around to joining. My favorite games are probably action rpgs, rpgs and action sports. My favorite game series are Castlevania and Metroid. I collect NES, SNES, N64, Game Cube, Gameboy, Genesis, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, and Xbox. In "real life" I currently update and maintain a real estate magazine and property management site.

I've been collecting games since about 1987 when my mom got a NES for my brother and I. Before that we had an Intellivision, an Atari 2600, and an Atari 5200, but I didn't start to collect games till the NES. Currently I'm in an Xbox binge and buying every game that interests me on that console. The games are very appealing to me ever since I installed a mod chip and replaced its hard drive with a 180GB one last November. I like the idea of having all my games accessable in one place without having to take the games out of the case and potentially damaging them.

Hi, Im Adam, im 18 from Leeds, in England (UK)
ive been collecting Games for a long time now, as my parents never bought me consoles as a child. I had a Commodore Amiga as the software was much cheaper and we didnt really have much money back then.
So later on in life i started collecting the "lost parts of my childhood" ;) the sega's, Nintendo's and anythink my friends used to have when we were young!
I mainly collect:

NES
SNES
Gameboy
Master System
Genesis/Megadrive
Game Gear

but also collect the odd thing here and there...
my best find so far i would say is my Crystal Screen Super Mario Game and watch, and my favourite game i own is the Japanese Version of Sonic 1 for the Game Gear :)

Hi, I'm Chris, currently living in Cornwall (the dangly bit hanging off the south west of the UK). I was pointed here by vroomfunkel, and after spending an age last night laughing at the posts in the eBay forum, I thought I should register and contribute a little.

I've been collecting for a couple of years, starting like most people with the things I wanted as a kid and going from there. My collection is small but perfectly formed:

- Game Gear
- MD1, MCD1 and 32X (my main focus is the MCD)
- Dreamcast
- Snes
- 5 N64 variations

I'm currently trying to put a PAL release library together at http://freespace.virgin.net/chris.burgin/ despite knowing no HTML and having no design skills - pop along if you're really bored!

Hi... I'm Brad....

Wow... where to begin... Well, I have been a gamer ever since my father first brought home a SMS. I don't think my mother ever forgave him because I was plugged into a video game ever since... in fact, she told me on many occasions that I would become nothing if all I did was play games...

My sister, cousins and I sat around a computer screen playing the latest Roberta Williams game (ie Kings Quest) every chance we got even opting to skip trick or treating to get our fix in... WHO NEEDS CANDY WHEN YOU HAVE A GREAT GAME!!!

It became a tradition... even mom started getting involved... she would buy us games for a birthday or Christmas present and then open it @_@ .... get about half way through it... WAIT!!!! it was a present... how could she open it...? Well it all worked out great... because we had a FREE STRATEGY GUIDE when WE finally got to play it.

I guess it runs in the family... and mom blamed dad for starting it all :o ...??? NICE TRY 8-) !!!

Well I went on to work for a major Retail chain buying Video Games, then to a product manager for a Video Game Accessory Company, and well now....

I wanted to get back my roots... to what was truly important... COOL... FUN... products...

So I recently started a Video Game Accessory company called MESSIAH ENTERTAINMENT, Inc. We are manufacturing ***NEW*** Accessories for Classic Systems...

The first ones role off the assembly line just in time for CGE 2004!!! I hope you check it out. We will be offering 2.4 GHz WIRELESS Controllers for both NES and SNES!!!

Our Website just went live about an hour ago.... www.playmessiah.com or www.playmessiah.com/home/

Oh... Remember when I said it runs in the family... I hired my baby sister (who plays game in her bikini... I will save that story for another time...!) to be Messiah's Marketing and PR Manager, and my cousin is the Creative Manager doing most of the artwork and web design.

Well I could shoot the shit for days, so I will call it quits for now.... Stop by CGE 2004 and say HI!!! Don't forget to ask my sis about the bikini story :D

Let me know any feedback you have about the website or products, we would appreciate it!

Thanks,
Brad

- Who you are: I started online as "TheRoyalOne", shortened it to "TRO". Somebody once called me TRA and insisted that meant "TheRoyalApe" so I also go by Ape. You can call me whatever you want, but I also go by Kevin.

- Where you live: Kansas City, KS

- How you found the forums: Started looking for a database program, found this instead. Wish I had discovered it sooner.

- What your favorite games are: Final Fantasy Series, Grand Theft Auto III/VC, Tecmo Super Bowl, Zelda Series, Metroid Series, that's a decent start

- What systems you collect for: I've had about everything and due to lack of funds have sold many things I wish I hadn't. I am slowly building my collection again, I like "timeless classics". Basically I like to collect games like movies, music, books and paintings as Art.

- What you do in "real life": [activating shields] I work in insurance [/shields]

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.: I love to travel and love to cook/eat.

Tell us any or all of the following:
- Where you live: I live in Stratford, CT. It's really very nice.
- How you found the forums: I found the Digital Press when looking at Vidgame.net's system archive-thing. I saw "The Digital Press's Top 20 Games" and clicked the link. Glad I did! LOL
- What your favorite games are: I would have to say that Sonic 2 (or maybe Sonic 3 And Knuckles), Jet Set Radio, Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Mario 64, and Wave Race 64 top my list.
- What systems you collect for: Outside of my recent acquistion of a Saturn, my game collection is here (http://users.ign.com/collection/TemjinZero?objType=1).
- What you do in "real life": I'm a High School student. My sophmore year begins in late August.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.: My first real memory of gaming was waking up on a Saturday morning in the winter when I was young, seeing my older sister playing Sonic 2 on Genesis. It's still my favorite system. LOL

Tell us any or all of the following:
- Where you live: Marion, Illinois. ( And Carbondale for school )
- How you found the forums: By chance really, I had been creating a database of console reference sites and sites that sold retro games when I came upon it. The funny is that I had been doing this for over a year now and I just now found this. Seems like the site didn't have justice served to it on the search engines.
- What your favorite games are: Genesis sonic games, mega man, jackal, bomberman, halo, morrowind.
- What systems you collect for: Due to my budget, I'm not collecting currently, but when I graduate and get a job, I won't be system discriminatory.
- What you do in "real life": I'm a college student entering my second year in computer engineering ( closer to third credit wise ).
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.: I guess the thing that most spurs me to collect is nostalgia for the 2d genre. I love the realism and intense experience that today's games offer, but there is something intrinsically magical and simple about a good 2d game. Often times, your path is set, all you have to do is blast your way through.

Recently, I came back to the good ol' US of A; Los Angeles, California to be exact. Now, I can finally say that I am in the players' seat! I am in control! I am in charge of doing the Marketing & PR for my brothers company, Messiah Entertainment, Inc.

Messiah is the first peripheral company to manufacture new accessories for classic gaming systems. Our first product line will be released this summer at CGE 2K4. Look for Messiah's 2.4 Ghz RF wireless controllers for your NES and SNES consoles. Come check us out at CGE or our website www.playmessiah.com

I guess I should start at the beginning, Let me explain.

Well, my name is Carrie and you might have heard about me being referred to as baby sister in PlayMessiah's Intro. :embarrassed:

I've been surrounded by games as long as I can remember. I'm not sure exactly when or even how it all began but I was definitely cursed being the youngest child. As a kid, I remember sitting around playing games together with my older brother, cousins, neighbors and sometimes my mom. It wasn't just playing; it was an addiction with sleepless nights filled with Jolt cola trying to beat games, whether it was a PC game or for the SMS. (My favorite being Phantasy Star.) The only catch is that I am the youngest so basically that means I was never allowed to play. x_x I was dictated by my elders who consistently hogged the game. My turn to play was when the game was already solved or when they finally got tired of playing (which was almost never). :grrr: I guess you could say I had a desire and curiosity that wasn't fully explored. It wasn't until I got older when I could play myself. Nowadays RPG games are what get me hooked to gaming. I'll sit down just to check it out and before I know it the day is completely gone and most of the night. You might say I'm a hopeless romantic. I guess all women want to be "saved" in one way or another.

I had the opportunity to live in Japan for the last two years. It was an amazing experience and almost impossible to put into words. Among my favorites were seeing gaming hair on a daily basis and YES on many occasions I saw Tidus and Cloud walking down the street. (And one of them did save me! :lovin: ) Another favorite was listening to the sound effects used at the train stations and feeling like I was in my own video game. ;) I also went to the Tokyo Game Show 2002 which was pretty wild. If you like booth babes, then you'd be in hog heaven. 8-)

Now this brings us up to date. Although I am my brother’s little sister, I am now an equal. I no longer have to beg to get a chance to play a game or whine to get my way. My brother might think otherwise but he doesn’t really know. (Don’t tell him I said that though.)

Please feel free to contact me if you want to chat or if you have any questions. I would love to hear any feedback too but for now, this is good bye.

Hello all!

I'm Azathoth, 32 yr old game addict.
I'm in northern California (Folsom).
My favorite games are the Legacy of Kain series and the Fallout RPGs (PC).
I'm currently collecting for most of the major US systems. I just got started collecting Famicom and Super Famicom as well.
IRL, I'm a systems programmer. I run huge compute farms that run siimulations 24x7x365.
I found this place from gamefaqs.

I've been playing video games since the days of Pong. My first system was a Coleco Telstar Alpha. Actually, it wasn't mine - it was my Dad's - this was back in 1977 and I was only 5.

I started collecting about 2 years ago.

Hello videogame enthusiasts! My name is Matt Floyd. I'm 19 years of age and live in the state of Arkansas.

I am a newcomer to the video game collecting community. Why am I a newbie?

Well, it boils down to this:

For some, when we are young and are unfamilar with things, we don't think about collecting systems, games, collectibles, or anything really. It's more about playing the games. It's also hard to collect anything of value at a young age when our parents have control of mostly what you get. Take for example, my family couldn't afford the video game systems I wanted. I was also sheltered from these things until about 7 and don't think I knew what a video game system was til about 6. So that defintely slowed things down!

I remember staring for hours at the clear glass display in the local Wal-Mart exploring the world of videogames. I started asking for one for birthday or christmas but never got one. One year for Christmas, I got a Super Nintendo from my Grandma Dorothy. This is how it all began. It was my first system and i loved it.

I've got to remember I'm not writing a biography here. To keep things shorter, I bought a PSX with my own money. Got a Sega Dreamcast for 50 bucks, traded my dreamcast for a PS2 one year. Had to sell the PS2 because I needed money, got a Nintendo GC and also sold it for some moeny. Bought a gameboy advance sp brand new. got a Sega Genesis *MegaDrive II* for free. and just today bought a supernintendo and a whole lot of stuff at an auction for 15 dollars.

My favorite games? This one is tough. I like so many. I don't have a favorite anything actually. I play these alot. Kirby Series, Zelda Series, mario series, sonic series, donkey kong series, I usually have to try out all First Person Shooters, I've recently got into puzzle games, I love RPGs but was never good at strategy games or couldn't keep interested in them. All Platform 2D Side Scrollers are fun. I like Crash Bandicoot series. That's enough.

I have big plans for my future collection I plan to have. I know it's a lifetime process. I will be collecting for the rest of my life. I plan to collect all classic systems as well as modern systems and new systems that come out. I want to collect a variety of games, hopefully warehouse size, and who knows. I don't want to give out all my ideas.

I could say more about me but this is a Video Game forum. I have a website. it is trmf.com (http://www.trmf.com). I plan to make this a video game website with lots of information, lots of great stuff, everything hopefully. If anybody has any video game systems, games, collectibles, magazines, posters, toys, that have to do with games and you want to get rid of please contact me at mfloyd1@mtnhome.com or by cell 870-405-9090. Keep in mind, I don't have alot of money. I am diabetic and go to college. ;)

Yo! I'm R4n. 25, soon to be 26 and coming out of the west coast.

I've been playing video games since the original Galaga. Grampa would hold me up to the cab, and I'd tap on the fire button and slide left and right. First system was the Atari 2600, first game was combat! First computer was a Apple IIc, fave game was falcon's crest and space quarks.
And yes, I love shooters!

I've been playing most all my life, and been collecting more seriously in the last 6 years.

I once was a big fan and collector of the Sega Genesis and Megadrive and had a good collection of about 200 or so games. For that system. Then I got a car and insurance... I no longer have that collection. :(

Not long ago I had a great collection of rarer Saturn RPGs and fighters. That had to be sold too.

You can kind of see a pattern here. I get some great stuff, then something happens and I have to get rid of'em. Oh well... at least I had my experience with them, and that's all that really matters in the end, right?

Fave games of all time would probably be in no particular order:

*River City Ransom, and most all Nekketsu Kunio Kun games
*King of Fighters... well I love Neo Geo fighters in general!
Currently I've been playing a lot of KOF2003 in the arcades.
I don't have a jamma or mvs cab, but I hang out at the local golfland at times and get my play there. One day I can afford to and have room enough for a mvs. Hopefully soon.
Current fave shooter is R-type Delta.

My involvement in the industry is that I run the video games division at the music store I work for. Since I started the game section has more than doubled in sales and is now taking on a good percentage of overall income.

Aside from music store clerk/buyer I'm a college student involved in music courses. I one day aspire to be the next Nebuo Umatsu in the gaming industry or Bill Conti etc in the film world.

Stuff or games I'm looking for in the near future:
*ANOTHER Dreamcast, with all the import/domestic SNK Fighters available.
*Always looking for a local place that is selling a working Karate Champ cab.
*An Xbox to grow my complement of console Neo Geo ports.

As you can see, I really admire the Neo Geo systems, and try to get the games that are available on the dominant home consoles. So I'm a pseudo neo geo collector at best :P oh well.

That's it. For now....

Hi! My name is Nathan, I'm 29 years old, and I hail from the backward, redneck state of Arkansas in the ol' US of A. I found the forums whilst digging around for classic gaming sites.

My favorite games are most any rpg on most any system. My mission in life is to collect all rpg's, be they terrible or awesome. I'm not limited to them, though, for I do love most all other game genres.

In "real life" I'm a Database Administrator/Developer, a slave to the cubical if you will.

Interesting facts... hmm, well I began collecting back when the Atari 2600 was released. Granted, I wasn't too old, but that didn't stop me. I love all things gaming.

Hey everyone! My name is Dustin. I'm 21 years old. I'm from Southern California, Nuevo to be more precise! lol. I currently work for one of the largest, if not the largest Shipping companies in the world as a Shipping and logistics package crew member (glorified title for an Unloader) lol.

Let's see here... been a gamer since I was a wee young lad. Prolly been playing games since I could move my hands.... love games.... Now as for collecting, I've been collecting since mid 95 I guess... My collection is getting large very quickly thanks to e-bay.

The systems i collect for are the SNES, Saturn, Game gear, Game boy (original), Game boy pocket, N64, PS1, R-zone, Virtual Boy, Genesis, and 32x. However, the systems I collect for grow very quickly. I try to buy a new system weekly or monthly if money permits. Next on my buying sights are a 3DO, Jaguar, Dreamcast, Vectrex, old Atari's, NES, and Turbo Grafx 16 for starters.... All in time.

Other than gaming I enjoy Computers alot. Build them all the time. I also am a HUGE Disney nut (Former Disney Cast Member). OOOOOO, and I also do alot of videography and editing at my college along with web site design and graphic arts!

That's pretty much all about me... I look forward to hanging around here for a long time. Hopefully even meet some gamers like me :-D Take care.

I found the forums through a friend who posts here. Y'all may know him as RetroYoungen.

- What your favorite games are
Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Mario Sunshine (GCN)
1080 Avalanche (GCN)
Galaga (arcade and...other stuff...)
Animal Crossing (GCN)
Final Fantasy 11 (PC)
Dance Dance Revolution
Percussion Freaks
e.t.c...

- What systems you collect for
NES (about 7 or 8 games... 700+ if you include the ROMs)
SNES (21 games)
Game Boy and its many offspring (about... 25 or 26 games)
PSX (16 games)
Sega Dreamcast (6 games)
Nintendo Gamecube (21 games)
Nintendo 64 (15-17 games...can't remember)

- What you do in "real life"
Eat, sleep, play video games, go to school, I'm in a Taekwondo class that meets 3 days a week...meh, that's about it. Oh yeah, I've been cosplaying since 2001 (one of my costumes being Aeris from FFVII. My fave one so far ^-^) and I design graphics in my spare time. (I'll have to post them up sometime)

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I didn't really begin collecting 'til I was about 10 or 11. Before that, I had been collecting Nintendo 64 and Gameboy Color games without really knowing I was "collecting." I didn't really start collecting SNES games until I moved to California and discovered a Funcoland (or now it's called GameStop) and starting getting them there for cheap! Nowadays, I collect SNES games (and Gamecube) the most!

Hey all, name's Nathan. Long time lurker, first time poster (well, I did post a few messages a week ago, but whatever). My collection isn't very big at the moment, but I plan to keep how many games I have in my signature for the moment being. In terms of systems, I have an Odyssey2 (just got it, but it's not working too well), NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy Pocket, N64, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance (standard, not SP), and a GameCube, besides my PC, of course. I'm passionate about gaming, I've been playing for several years, and although I'm kind of young (16, if you must know), I am quite interested in retro gaming.

Brief biography: My family had an NES when I was young (although the only game I remember distinctly was Duck Hunt), and later on they got a SNES packed in with Zelda: ALttP. It was that system that I started to enjoy playing games on (still one of my favorite consoles, even to this day), and I believe ALttP was one of the first games I ever beat. My older brother was the person who these systems were meant for, but eventually his interested waned and mine grew, especially when I got my Game Boy. Eventually, we received a N64 with Zelda: OoT. I have to say, in all honestly, OoT was a turning point for me and got me more and more interested in the world of gaming. Eventually, I started getting interested in more than just what was popular and started to collect games (first getting an old NES, Genesis, and now an Odyssey2). I still enjoy new games, though, as can be told through my several GBA, GameCube, and PS1 and 2 titles. Money and time permitting, I hope to expand my collection more in the future.

I really enjoy this community, as there's a lot of helpful people around and a lot of insightful information as well. But enough about me. Hope I'm actually of some usefulness to some people!

Hello fellow collectors and gamers, My name is Shane Reel, I am 30 years young and I live in a small town in North Carolina called Lincolnton. I found the forums a couple of years ago actually but mostly just read and never replied. I found them after finding a copy of Digital Press fifth edition on ebay while trying to find some deals on some vcs games. I bought the copy and then sixth and seventh and now a pre-order of advance have followed. My favorite games would have to be the early Final Fantasy series on the NES and Super NES. I collect for all systems starting with the Odyssey and the early pong systems all the way to the current systems. My first video game experience was at a relatives house when they let me play a tele-games Pong system. I was forever hooked on games from that moment on. My first system was the Atari 5200. All my friends had the 2600 systems that I had access to anytime I wanted to play so I decided to be different (and have better graphics) but later found out that I would fall way behind in the games department, then along came 1984. I didnt have much to choose from and decided it was time for a computer. My friends had Apple II's and again I had to be different and bought me a C64. This time however it was they who fell behind in the games department. I dedicated most or nearly all of my free time to the C64 and played it right up till the time the NES hit the stage. I went out and bought one and this is when I started to "collect games". All my friends were giving up the Atari systems at yard sales for near nothing so they could run out and get an NES. I couldnt stand the thought of thses systems going to someone for five bucks so I ended up buying everyones gaming history. One of my friends mother was a school teacher and had sent in the johnson & johnson labels for a Tooth Protectors which I got with 19 other games for a 10 spot :) . In the real world I am a Bowling Center Manager (cool job for a kid at heart). I have a wife and two children with whom I enjoy the rest of my free time. Collecting is just one of my many hobbies, and of all my hobbies my favorite.

Hello, I'm Brian. I live in Mt.Carmel, IL.
I found the forums while google searching for game gear/ dreamcast items.
I collect games for the Dreamcast and Game Gear right now, but look to start collecting for the SMS also very soon.
At the moment I am disabled(kidney failure)so I don't work. I go to dialysis 3 days a week and spend the rest of my time working through text books and playing/collecting games. I'm hoping to become a game programmer after I have a kidney transplant.
I've always enjoys video games. My first system was an Atari 400/800.

I'm glad I found a group of people that enjoy retro-gaming as I do! :)

Ahoy all. I've been using the DP resources for awhile now, and I figured I may as well break into the forums while I'm at it. I'm currently stationed in Janesville, WI. I've been a collector proper for a year or two now, or I guess whenever Dreamcast games started selling around 20 USD in malls. I have always had an affinity to gaming, though, my earliest memories in life involve pacman jr. on my 2600 jr. and stuff like castlevania and zelda on NES.

However I must admit that I am and have been a bit of a...darkside gamer. I'm both proud and not proud of what I have pirated...what I cannot have I try to "have access to" via emulation, piracy, ect. I also liberated a few items from working at a goodwill donation center...although that story has many more factors to it than it seems at first, maybe I'll make it into a thread to discuss. I am stating all this so that DP as a community can decide how it feels about such things before I go off and start making topics on tricks of the darkside. If it's not wanted, I'll keep it quieter. If it is, i could make a collumn out of it probably. But that's up to you guys. I'm a moderator in other communities, so I understand and respect the need for rules and standards in a community. So basically, someone let me know to what extent I should speak of such things. I'm not gonna go off and post roms and whatnot though. Just curious as to how acceptable talk of piracy is.

Sorry for the long-winded speach. Great site guys, and I'd only love to hang out and contribute what I can. Game on dudes, and be excellent to each other.

I'm Charles Johnson, out of Alameda, CA. I got turned on here by a friend about six weeks ago when I was looking for a place to sell some factory seal NES carts I stumbled across for $10 each, and wound up staying.

Right now I'm collecting on all current-gen systems (X-Box is my fave, karma be damned) and for the Nintendo NES. I'm big on boxed/complete carts, totally uninterested in cart-only games (unless they're games that were never manufactured with a box in the first place). Also big on the huge number of totally, totally worthless NES accessories, like the glove, headgun, rolling pad, piano, etc.

I figure once my NES lust is sated, I'll move on to the SNES or the Genny. I'm not much interested in systems earlier than this because they don't overcome what I like to call the technology/nostalgia curve.

In real life, I'm a systems/network administrator for a small .com company out of Pleasanton, CA.

I love the good o'l days of arcade mania, and have been frequenting this site for a while -- figured what the hell, the time has come to drop in.

Years ago a letter I wrote to the Game Doctor was printed in VIDEO GAMES & COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT, which began my interest in gaming journalism (I wrote for Planet Gamecube for a while as well).

I love GameCube and (gasp!) even the Xbox, and polay MAME religiously on my PC.

It's great to be OFFICIALLY here !!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Hi!

I'm a wisconsinite, and a born-and-bred gamer, especially vintage stuff!!

I'm 24 years old and I'm a manager at an Electronics Boutique, so once in a while I catch some opportunities.

I found this site from the GMR article!! Go Ziff Davis!

Some of my favorites in my collection... I own PS1, 2, 3 and 4 all complete except PS1, which is missing the case. Didn't have to go find them either, I've owned them forever hehe. Also have the entire Genesis "Shining" series- SF1, SF2 and Shining in the Darkness (awesome game). Wonder Boy 1, 2 and 3 for the SMS :) And Golvellius! Golvellius > Zelda :P

So I'll be hanging around and wasting time here now. Nice to meet all ya!

Hello all! My name's Joe. I'm 18 and live in California. Been collecting games for about two years now, though my collection is rather small at about 200...I've got a problem where I also collect vinyl records, which ends up reducing my funds available for games. ^^;

I mostly collect for Genesis, and am thinking of working on N64 as well. Though my particular quirk is a combination of of my two collecting habits: Video-game-related vinyl records. Thus the highlights of my collection are things like They Call Me Sonic on vinyl LOL ...also have all but one of the tracks from Rise FM in GTA3. But enough pretending to be cool...

I found this website while looking for rarity lists for SNES and Genesis carts. Plan to pick up the new DP guide at CGE this month as well. Been lurking here for a few months now and when I saw that music post I figured "what the hell" and signed up. Now I just gotta make it past three posts and I'll be doing alright...

Cheers.

Hello!

My buddy naughtyboy and I are going to be performing at the 2004 CGE in San Jose as 8-Bit Weapon. I thought I'd join up on the forum finally to say hi to Joe and the gang and say that I'm really looking forward to the Expo!

I chose CGE2K4 over meeting Sheila E. by the way!

Oh and thanks to the nice guy who gave me the Gameboy Camera pc link cable and program at E3... which without I would not have the spectacular avatar you see on your left...

See you in San Jose!

Hey yo.

I hail from southern Ontario (Canada), not too far from the American city of Detroit. I discovered The Retrogaming Roundtable through two individuals that I'm sure many longtime forum contributors are familiar with: Rob (AKA Dire 51) and Mikey (AKA Sotenga). Although I discuss gaming quite a bit at The Third Moon (Dire's domain), I thought I might as well register with this forum since it hosts some very creative topics. A topic concerning games that we enjoy despite the negative reviews attributed to them by the general gaming public is what sold me.

I don't exactly collect games so much as I obsess over them; I'm too poor to maintain a collection for the sake of having my favourite games readily available. I've owned an NES, a Sega Genesis, a Sega Dreamcast, a Sony Playstation 2, and, most recently, an Xbox. I swapped my PS2 for an Xbox since I consider Sony's console a disappointment as far as its hardware, software library, and online experience (or lack thereof) are concerned.

A hardcore oldschool gamer is how I'd best describe myself, although I must admit that I am partial to the First Person Shooter gameplay experience. Despite their simple play mechanics, I miss 2D Beat-'Em Up games like Streets of Rage. A few of my favourite games are Deja Vu, The Uninvited, Super Mario Bros 2 (Nintendo of America's hack of Doki Doki Panic!), Contra, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Life Force, Castlevania Bloodlines, Splatterhouse 2 / 3, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Samurai Shodown II and Street Fighter Alpha 3.

I have no interesting facts. I have no idea how I began collecting... I think it was just that I got so many games, took a look at my collection one day and said, "Hey, keep going kid. Reach for the stars."

fennec fox: I find it hard to believe that a gaming magazine would put itself in the position to advertise an opening. The reality of the 'hidden' job market is not to be underestimated, and it seems ridiculous that a gaming mag would actually be in need of employees. Nevertheless, I congratulate you on your success.

I asked when you wrote for GamePro because I have old issues of GamePro stored away in my basement and thought that I might as well check to see if you may have made any outstanding contributions that I could see for myself.

My name is Alex. I'm a high school student in upstate New York. My friend told me about this site when I was asking for some gaming advice. I own a gaming quality PC, playstation, PS2, DC, original Gameboy, GBC, GBA, GameGear, Game.com, Genesis, NES, SuperNES, N64, and GC. I started out on the NES as a youngin, dying repeatedly on the first goomba in Super Mario Bros. 3. (I've gotten better :P) Since then I've been moving right along with the more current gaming systems but I still have all my old systems out and play them frequently. My dad owns a video store and I can get first dibs on any of the new or used stuff that comes in. I might be picking up some old gaming stuff that's lying around in a box in the back room. :D
I haven't really been interested in serious collecting for that long, but using the games I already have as a base I feel that I could accomplish something.
It pains me to see kids raised on next-gen systems only, and I feel that all gamers need a taste of the original stuff. (Just because I don't own an atari doesn't mean that I haven't played it)
Well, that's about all. This site looks great!

I have been a frequent DP visitor for probably more than a year! It is at this time that I decided there was no way I could miss out on anymore of your discussions. (Mainly because I don't agree with a lot of remarks) LOL

I am really not the HARDCORE gamer that some of you guys are but I have nothing against people that are. I LOVE video games..although, I probably spend less that 10 hours a week playing them.

What I really am getting in to now is collecting. I'm at the point where I buying the greatest titles available for each system and spend less than a few hours playing them. I don't know why..weird...

Anyways, I am currently 20 years old and a TRUE Sega fan. I don't own a very big collection..

Systems:
GBA
Nintendo
Genesis
Gamecube
Xbox
Dreamcast----\
Saturn -------/ My Two Favorite sytems..

Unfortunately I don't have the time to post very often but I'm gonna try to get my two cents in where I can.

fennec fox: I find it hard to believe that a gaming magazine would put itself in the position to advertise an opening. Well, I made the long story a short one for effect, but the short version is still true -- I did answer an ad on craigslist for the job, but if it weren't for people I knew in my previous game-related job (the original gamers.com) that recommended me, there's no way I would've gotten the job. That, and they needed someone who knew Japanese, which not everyone can claim.

Resident Evil, Silent Hill, almost any game by Capcom ( especialy not Ledgendary Wings) , Illusion of Gaia,Paper Mario,Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG are the main ones.

I dont have much of a collection yet because I dont have a job and it was always hard to get family members to buy me video games because they toght it would rot my brain or somthing.

PSX
PS2
GBC
Genesis
Dreamcast
XBOX

Hey I'm Jason, from VA (of course its the USA). I'm 22 and work at a Dollar General with computer repair jobs on the side. Currently, i'm collecting N64 games.

I own a N64, SNES, NES, Gameboy, and GameCube. Collecting for the 64 until i fell like it time to move on. Probrobly start with the SNES next. The Rarest games i own are Ogre Battle 64 complete and Final Fantasy 3 cart only. I try to get all the 64 games complete, I just started buying them in 3s. A local rental place is selling them for less than 10 bucks a piece and buy 2 and get the 3rd half off. I dont own any other console, but own a few games for others like Dracula X for TG-16 CD.

I collect mostly anything genre but lately its been SHUMPs. R-Types, Gradius, and other space shooters. I should be collecting a Tubrografx-16 for them.
The other genre i collect from in Survial Horror Games like Resident Evil, Parasite Eve, and Sanitarium.

So far my favorite games are: Star Soilder Series (TG-16), Quake 2 (N64), Actraiser 1 & 2 (SNES), and Eternal Darkness (GC)

Play emulators like there is no tommarrow also even made an XBOX USB controller just to play emus.

Hello all, I just recently joined as you may have geussed.

I own many consoles ranging from NES to current, but for the most part I just collect the AAA games. The only console I really buy others for is my NES, I'll take any game I can find for that.

The games I'm currently in to are in my signature. Besides games I often read. Not much else to say, really. Oh right, my favorite games...

(In no particular order)
Final Fantasy(NES mind you)
Kirby's Dreamland(NES)
Super Mario Bros. 3(NES)
Chrono Trigger(SNES)
Super Mario World(SNES)
Shinobi III(GEN)
Mario 64(N64)
Zelda: OOT(N64)
Goldeneye(N64)
Perfect Dark(N64)
Ogre Battle 64(N64)
Super Smash Bros.(N64)
Ikaruga(GCN)
The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind(Xbox, although I need the PC version some day)

I would say my favorite console is probably the N64, folowed by the NES. I need more PSX and SNES experience though, I rather missed out on those consoles during their prime, skipping them for the Genesis and the N64.

I found this site a long time ago, when I was referred here from GameFaqs for this sites price guide on games. But I just now looked at the site more closely and decided to join the forums.

Hello all. My name is .... link.... >-> <-<

And I live in CA. I have an old N64, a Gamecube and a PS2 along with a GBA and GBC.

My favorite games are RPGs and mindless shooters when playing with others. (Though SSB kicks ass too)

I'm also into Anime and Fantasy/Fiction books. Historical Fiction is also fun.

Name: Allen
Eyes: Brown
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 156 (after first bowel movement)
Location: San Jose, CA
Strength of 10 men.

I am 39 years old. Yes, I lived throught the golden age of gaming. The first videogame I played was Pong. I believe I was 7 at the time. I never saw a Computer Space.

I remember when the Fairchild was new, and a house with a home version of Pong was the place to be.

The first console I ever owned was an Atari Video Pinball, but I kept returning them because they kept breaking down. Bad quality control. I finally got an Atari VCS in 1978. It was that year that I started really getting bad grades. Coincidence? I think not.

Since then, the sickness began. I've owned the following afterwards:

Vectrex
7800
NES
SMS
Gameboy
SNES
Gen
Lynx
Jag
Gameboy Pocket
Saturn
PS
N64
Gameboy Color
DC
PS2
GBA
GC
GBA SP
XB

Whew!

Oh, and I also own a coin-op Tempest. Cocktail style. It's currently my dining table. Of course...I never eat on it.

I repair copiers for a living. And I once killed a guy in Vegas, just 'cuz he wuz a snorin'.

Hey All! I am fairly new to DP, I found out about it from a customer of mine a long time ago. I reside in Washington, D.C. and so does my business. Basically, we (for the time being, anyway) sell [video game] collectible items to raise capital for our business. I have a GameCube and an SNES - the only reason I purchased a GC was to play Tales of Symphonia and it was a great game indeed. I'd probably have to say that one of my FAVORITE games would be "Teen Agent" which is a DOS game, released many years ago (if anyone has heard of it and wants it, let me know!).

My first computer was a Tandy Color Computer 3 System with 128K RAM which I programmed games and stuff on for hours..ahh..the days of "Rad Warrior" and "Springster..".....

Hello everyone - just signed up, but I've been lurking here for a while now. I came across this site when I was planning my trip to the CGE2003 last year, and I've visited ever since.

I'm 29 years old and live in Scottsdale, AZ with my girlfriend. I'm a college grad who majored in physical anthropology, minored in religiosu studies, and I work as a finance administrator - try and figure that one out.

I've been gaming for close to 25 years now, starting with a 2600 way back around kindergarten. My "gaming experience" is pretty varied, from the conventional (NES, SNES, Genesis, etc.) to the modern (Xbox, GC, PS2) to the weird (Turbo-16 w/ CD, Sega CD, Saturn, etc.). Back in the day (when they were common and worth going to), I was a huge fan of visits to the arcade, but it wasn't until high school and Street Fighter 2 that I became really involved in that scene. I played in local tournaments and usually did well, typically in the top 10 (but never in the top 3).

As far as home gaming goes, I'm all over the place... but to name a few of my favs from the past off the top of my head: Phantasy Star (SMS), Bionic Commando (NES), Ys Book I & II (T16-CD), Gunstar Heroes (GEN), Ultima Exodus (NES), Ultima 6-7 (PC), Pool of Radience (PC - the old "gold box" edition, NOT the newer one), Lunar (any), Final Fight (Sega CD), Guerilla War (NES), Street Fighter Alpha 3 (DC), Castlevania: SOTN (PS1)... you get the picture.

I am a bit of a collector, but I collect more for personal interest than strict value. For example, I like anything mint from Working Designs - so while some of it is worth something (e.g., sealed PS1 Lunar titles), others aren't (e.g. Vanguard Bandits strategy guides). Street Fighter hit my videogaming hobby like an atomic bomb, so anything related to it I find hard to resist. I'm also a huge fan of videogame-related import art books (and as a result, Animebooks.com has been "collecting" my money for some time now).

Anyway, that's the broad strokes. I'm happy to be here, and hope to meet more of you at the CGE2005 (missed it this year)!

My name is David, and I'm 20. I'm from Seattle, WA. Video games and comic books are my primary interests. I'm in college studying computer networking and working at Wal-Mart as a part-time electronics sales associate. I guess that's kind of like working in a game store... :embarrassed:
I've visited the site before, but did not sign up until after I visited the Classic Gaming Expo. I've been gaming since 1985. I'm mainly into stuff from the NES era and onward. Fighting and RPGs are my favorites. Lately, I've become more of a collector than a player. I haven't even played many of the games in my collection.

My name is diana and i was at the last CGE! I had a blast and met a world of wonderful people, killed papa stu's baby (long story LOL), pissed my pants in the ocean (along with punk off girl and eternal tune), dropped a few monkey balls, escaped the death of the RV on a really windy road, caught a free college movie and a whole lot more! So, in general, i enjoy talking to strangers and experiencing the world with open eyes! I do have to say that i wont ever forget the great adventure i had---all you other people should try going to the CGEs in the future! I live with queen of the felines (but i only like men) and i like super nintendo.-------thats about it
