Hi!

I've loitered a while and enjoyed reading a lot, so I decided to join up. This is me . . . .

- Who you are: Just call me Lewton, Private Eye. :pimp:
- Where you live: UK.
- How you found the forums: Googled . . . . PLUS, of course, some pretty clever investigation work.
- What your favorite games are: Nearly always point & click adventure games and puzzle games - some very obscure. Although I'm partial to the odd action adventure too, and recently discovered Oblivion. Favourite games include; Monkey Island series, Gabriel Knight series, Grim Fandango, Discworld series, Culpa Innata, Outcast, early Tomb Raider games, Toonstruck, Stupid Invaders, King's Quest series, The Dig, The Longest Journey, The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: Case of the Rose Tattoo, Amber, Obsidian, Morpheus, Touche the Adventures of the Fifth Musketeer, Neverhood, Scratches, Sanitarium, Blackstone Chronicles, The Black Mirror, Maupiti Island, Broken Sword (1 & 2), Lure of the Temptress, Beneath A Steel Sky, Bad Milk . . . . I could go on.
- What systems you collect for: Most generations of DOS and Windows PC systems and some PS1 and PS2 titles.
- What you do in "real life": Mad Scientist (and moonlighting as a P.I.)
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.: Began collecting around 10 years ago. Fell in love with adventure games through the Broken Sword series. Wish I had the time to play more. Keen outdoorsy type and like to get out in the wilds a lot, which conflicts with my gaming interests.

I know PC discussions aren't too common here, especially ones about adventure games, but still I'm looking forward to getting involved in some (hopefully) adventure gamey talk ............. and maybe others too.

Greetings from the west coast of Ireland. My name is Matt and I live here with my wife and two children. I just turned 31 last month.
Always been a fan of gaming in general, I started off with an Commodore A500.
I can't forget how great those games for the Amiga were at the time.
Over the years my brother and I owned all the major consoles, still got most of them too. Neither of us, I guess like everyone on here, ever lost the enthusiasm for gaming. I collected a few rarities these past 6 or so years, my wife thinks I'm nuts! But, like I tell her, I could be spending my money on the bad things in life.
Favorite games - Shadow of the beast 2 , Mario 64, Final Fight, Turrican 2, Colony Wars and Goldeneye.
For a living we run a web business for the motorcycle touring market, we started up in 2004. I also have a little website (http://www.myretrocade.com) on the side, it's not long published and it's a way of getting back in touch with a few gamer types out there. Took quite some time to track down a forum like this, looking forward to meeting some like minded retro gamers. Best Regards.:bigmac:

Hi, I'm Scott from the UK

I found this forum by googling about RGB mods on 3DOs :-), My favorite games are platformers and isometric adventures like Alien8.

I collect pretty much anything, but mainly PCEngine, 3DO, MSX TurboR, Famicom and Atari 8bit.

In real life I work in electronics repair. I also help run a retro computer museum.

Hi, I'm TazVag...my avatar says it all.

I've been a gamer since as long as I can remember. To this day I only stick to the gaming I grew up with as a kid. Anything from Dreamcast on just didn't hold me as much as the gaming of the 90s. I've got a huge collection to prove it!!
I'm a college student now though, so I've decided to part with some of my collection in order to pay the bills. It ain't easy, but I think it's the responsible path for me right now. I can't recall how I found this forum, just know that I've been looking at it since back in the earlier half of this decade. Can't believe it took me this long to start posting.

Well everyone, I've been reading these boards for about a year now and this entire time it would never let me post anything. So a couple of days ago I finally emailed the administrator, or whatever they are called, and I didn't here a thing. So tonight I figured enough is enough, I rejoined and gave a different email address and wala. I"M IN.

Anyway, I'm probably the biggest video game freak, that actually doesn't play video games. I buy them, I collect them, I just rarely play them. So far this year I probably logged in about 20 hours worth. And about 19 of those hours were on Mario Kart Wii. Its not that I don't want to, its just I don't have the time. Oh well, some day I will.

I love the retro games more than anything. Nintendo and Sega mostly.

My favorite games are Madden, Tecmo Bowl, and RPG's. And of course Mario Kart for the Wii.

My prize position games are a few homebrew games that I bought from Game Reproductions back in January. I didn't even know those types of games existed until reading these threads. I bought the newest version of Tecmo Bowl, Zelda, Final Fantasy, and Castle Vania. It just mind boggled me that I could play these games with different versions.

Anyway thats about it

Archangel
10-15-2009, 01:56 AM
Hello everyone..

My name is Lou, call me by that, Archangel, it does not matter too much to me.

I live in South Jersey, hopefully one day will be able to make it up to the DP store someday..

I have known about the forums since 2003, was a member once in 2004 but left for reasons I honestly cannot even remember anymore.

Favorite game: Earthbound, a close second would be Chips Challenge for the PC if anyone would remember that.

Systems I collect for? Various, I get a hold of a rare game, I have it protected and cased before anything else. Just recently I have obtained a Virtual Boy with a few games and I plan on trying to find a few more..

What I do in real life? College, I hate it but I do it so I can get my degrees in Network Administrating. On weekends I usually head out with my friends to farmers markets and various yard sales to scout out and obtain any rare or interesting game and or object.

My prize possession is probably my Virtual Boy as of now, fully functional, AC adapter, games, has really made it worth while to hunt more. Also have a few boxed games such as Mario 3 in perfect condition box and whatnot.

As for anything else, might as well ask me by PM...

Tell us any or all of the following:
- Who you are
My name is Tyler Pugmire, hence the forum name tpugmire.

- Where you live
I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. (No I'm not Mormon, I hate when people ask that when they hear that I'm from Utah!)

- How you found the forums
I did a google search for video game collecting forum. I got sick of hanging on the nintendo.com tech forums.

- What your favorite games are
I like a wide variety of types of games, but I have to say that my favorite is old school nintendo (NES, SNES, N64), although I am enjoying the Wii quite a bit.

- What systems you collect for
Pretty much anything nintendo, I do have a PS2 that gets used more for a DVD player than a game console though.

- What you do in "real life"
I'm a friendly neighborhood FedEx man, husband, father, and all around cool dude!

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I've been playing games since I was a kid except when I was in high school. Games weren't cool at the time. Cars and girls replaced gaming for a while. I've recently slowly gotten back into it about 2 years ago. I realized that I'd made the move from gamer to collector when I found myself buying multiples of games I already own to trade with other gamers someday.

My Name is Daryl Hulver
I live in Strasburg Va
I found the forums while searching for a video game price guide
My favorite game used to be Metroid Prime, now I have to say Uncharted 2 takes the cake, it is unlike anything else I have ever played.
I collect for all systems, from the Odyssey to the PS3.
I work as a customer sales rep at a telecommunications company.
I am an avid comic book, dvd, and action figure collector also, but video games are my passion, I began collecting about 7 years ago when my now ex girlfriend gave me her NES still in box and about 20 games, it was a good day. I miss that girl, lol. I'm 22 years old and have a twin brother and a lot of friends who help me look for stuff to add to my collection, thanks you guys.

(Emerging from the shadows from which I've been lurking).
Confusion:
Hello? That's weird. I thought for sure I had made some posts already.

Rambling:
Anyway, hi again. I don't know much else to say rather than I'm very confused now, and I really like homebrew, especially 2600 homebrew and Dreamcast. I'm also a big chiptune fan, and enjoy being a member (a lazy, bad one) of NWCGE.

Excuses:
I've been very busy in the last couple years, but I'll try to stop by and participate. I missed the last 2 Portland expos, but I plan to be around more in 2010 if things go well.

Boring Real-Life Stuff:
I've met Y-bot & Mrs. Y-Bot, Rick, John, and Nathan (and a few others, sorry other people for forgetting names) but I still feel like a newbie in the classic gaming scene, and I wish I was born a decade earlier.

-Cheers

Also, what the eff? I don't remember that title. I get dubbed "Homebrew Evangelist" yet again? Eesh, I better make up for lost time and live up to it. :p

- Who you are - William

- Where you live - My hometown is Nashville, but I go to college at UTM. Hence my username.

- How you found the forums - Someone posted a link to a rarity guide somewhere. I've been using it for years. I finally decided to sign up.

- What your favorite games are - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, and Portrait of Ruin; Space Harrier; The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; Life Force (NES); Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past; Super Mario RPG

- What systems you collect for - I dunno if you could call me a collector anymore. I used to own... I dunno... 300 games or so. I sold off a third of them because, well, I thought a lot of them were horrible. Probably a good 40% of those were well-received titles, too. I DO collect 32X and VB because they don't take up much space and are by and large cheap systems to get complete libraries for. Still, I've only got roughly half of the 32X cartridge games (no 32X CD games) and 2 VB games. Beyond that, I've got an Odyssey^2, Vectrex (Mine Storm is seriously addicting, but I need to find a decent controller very badly as the previous owner seemingly abused it or let a pet or young child get a hold of it,) NES, SMS, Genesis, SNES, Saturn, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, GC, Xbox, Xbox 360, GBA, DS, and PSP. I've also got a Colecovision, but I haven't bothered with getting a power cord for it. I'd also have to find something worth playing, since I consider the original Donkey Kong to be an awful game. I never liked it, even when I was little.

- What you do in "real life" - I am a college student - a Communications (Broadcasting) / Political Science double major, to be precise.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc. - Actually, I don't think I ever have been a collector aside from the two aforementioned systems. I buy games to play. To me, the term collector denotes something completely different from a gamer who has amassed a large collection of games he or she actually plays (or in the cases of the copy of Rugby 2006 that's been sitting on my shelf unplayed for the seven months I've owned it and the copy of StarTropics 2 that's been on my shelf for four years or so, intending to play,) but you folks can feel free to disagree.

- What your favorite games are - Ninja Masters, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Tatsunoko Fight, Castlevania: SotN, Super Castlevania 4, Rock N' Roll Racing

- What systems you collect for - Japanese PS2 mainly. Use to collect Japanse Saturn and Super Famicom but I have taken a break for awhile.

- What you do in "real life" - I am an engineer

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc. - I got into imports after reading a bit about the Saturn version of Castlevania: SotN in some old game magazing back in 98 or 99. The Extra levels intrigued me so I sought the game out....found many other obscure/interesting Japanese games and ended up hooked. I am also a big fan of old cartoons! Ive spent wayyy to much cash on bootlegs of old toons that will never be released on DVD! (the gary coleman show, super globetrotters, turbo teen, etc.)

My name is Marc, I am 32, and I am from Las Vegas.

Hello new member here, not new to video gaming for sure. Anyone from PcEngineFX or Rising Stuff should know who I am. Everyone always talks about this place, and so I decided I'd finally drop the bomb and see what it's all about. Looks like it's pretty active here so that's always a great thing...

Anyways, a little more about me, I am 32 years old, been playing games since around 82 or so when I was 5. That's when we got our 2600. Didn't play much until the NES came out then it was all over but the gaming! Over the years went through a ton of consoles/handhelds and finally realized I needed to collect all of what I grew up on (this was about 10 years ago). So now I have a decent little collection of consoles and games, probaby nothing compared to some of you but anyways. Here's a list of the consoles that I currently own, not gonna worry about the games. I need to catalog everything I own, any recommendations?

NES
NES Toploader
SNES
N64
Game Cube
Wii
Gameboy Color
Gameboy Advance SP
Nintendo DS Phat (X2)
FC Twin (SNES/NES)

Sega Nomad
JVC X'Eye (Sega CD/Genesis all-in-one)
Sega Dreamcast
Sega 32X

Panasonic 3DO FZ-1

XBOX

Playstation (5501?)
Playstation 2 Phat

Atari 2600 (CX2600A - 4 switch Woody)

That's all I can think of at the moment. I definitely play the older consoles a lot more than the newer ones. I just find older games so much better, maybe because I grew up on them.

Some of my favorite game series are:

Metroid - Favorite, I own every US Metroid release (except trilogy do I count that?

Castlevania - second favorite series - I have many, many CV's - including Dracula X Rondo of Blood for the PC Engine CD

Contra, Mega-Man (Have 1-6 on NES), Street Fighter (mostly the II series), Ninja Gaiden (none of that 3D Crap), Final Fantasy, Zelda, Dragon Warrior (currently playing Dragon Quest Monsters for DS)

Anyways, that's a little bit about me, I will check in from time to time and say what's up.

I'm Fredric, I live in Sweden and have stumbled upon this forum several times while googleing for various stuff.
I'm mostly into the Fairchild System, I collect, repair, program and build my own games for it. I have several different consoles for it, Luxor, SABA, ITT and an extensive collection of the original carts, Zircon, SABA, Luxor, ITT and Nordmende as well as a few Barco (same as Fairchild but their own instruction booklets). I programmed Pac-Man for Channel F together with another guy and have sold a few carts (with box and instruction booklet) and I have also finished a Multi-Cart that has all Channel F games versions and known prototypes.

I also have several VIC20s, C64s, Amigas, NES, a SNES, a N64, a PS2, an Xbox360.

For now it has been a lot of Guitar Hero (World Tour) and Full Auto on the 360. Other than that I have various favorite games for different systems.

I try and get my favorite games for the other systems but it's mainly Fairchild System that is collected. I was glad to find Spy Hunter on original cassette not long ago for the C64.

In real life I'm an electronics engineer, I currently work both as that but mainly for a personnel hiring company.

I began collecting after I found an old power supply for our first tv-game the Luxor Video Entertainment System (Fairchild System) in 1995 - about the same time that I could search for it on internet.

Hello, I am Alexander Badr. I make Youtube videos criticizing video games kind of like the Angry Video Game Nerd. Type Gamedude on Youtube and see for yourself if you want. Anyway, I live in British Columbia Canada and I own about 50 game consoles including the Fairchild Channel F. I go to film school right now and... Yeah...

Favorite game franchise. Well, of course that'll have to be Mario. Can't wait for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. That game will kick ass. Oh, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Well, I am VanHelzen (as you may have already noticed right about <- there) which isn't my actual last name, but I thought it sounded sort of cool. I've been a determined collector of Video Games and similar media for a couple of years now. Especially rare classics that wouldn't be worth even 2 pennies had they actually sold well back in the day...but that's just part of my luck I guess.

Oh, and I enjoy betas. PHOAWR!

Hey guys I'm Austin! Aka Cardkeeper or Card for short. I'm almost 15, a freshmen in high school and live in the eastern United States. How I stumbled across this forum?? Well, it was a complete act of randomness from the heavens or whatever becuase I was looking for a good Video game site with google and watta ya know! I'm here! :) I don't actually COLLECT Video Games but I want to. My grandpa is a proffesional collector so I already have a couple serious collections. I especially like the N64 because it was the premiere system when I was a kid. With my favorite games being SSB and Super Mario 64. My collections are pretty serious so I normally want mine with all original inserts in immaculate condition factory sealed but that's just me. My friends call me nerotic Lol. Anyway, I hope to meet lots of new friends here and have some fun, so, until later, PEACE OUT!! \\^_^/

Hi my name is Manny. Like many others here I stumbled upon the actual Digital Press store this past summer while googling for old school video game stores. I currently work full time at a Greek restaurant in Livingston NJ and also do part time seasonal pyrotechnician work at Garden State Fireworks. In my free time I LOVE collecting various kiosks which hopefully many of us know what they are to save time. I currently have a Gamecube tower kiosk (rescued from a Gamestop dumpster in '05), a Nintendo DS kiosk (got free from Nintendo rep at a local Circuit City shutting down last year), and a totally FREE PS2 kiosk with the TV, key, and system (rescued from a Gamestop dumpster). I don't really enjoy going out too much and prefer to be more of the loner type, as such I enjoy spending as much time at Digital Press where I feel more welcomed and at home being amongst other gamers and games from all different eras. If anyone ever wants to ask about my kiosk collection or just talk in general about gaming, you can look for me at Digital Press, I'm the guy proudly displaying one of my Garden State Firework colored shirts.

Hi all, Some of you may recognise me from the AtariAge, Atari-Forum or the Free Jaguar Project forums. I was mentioned in a 7800 homebrew thread on here so I thought I'd better get myself signed up ;).

The Atari 7800 is my current retro development platform of choice. I don't think it was pushed to its technical limits back in the day. Its a good little 8-bitter with plenty of power in the graphics department. Its sadly lacking in a good built in sound chip (it uses TIA like the 2600) but you can't have everything LOL.

- Who you are

My name is Michael

- Where you live

Currently in Madison, Wisconsin, but originally from Massachusetts.

- How you found the forums

Googled for video game message boards and this seemed like the most frequented.

- What your favorite games are

Goldeneye, Ducktales, Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros. 3, Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy 7, Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda NES, Sonic 2, Ecco The Dolphin

- What systems you collect for

NES, SNES, N64 primarily. Also got a bunch of PS1 rpgs that I plan to play if I ever have time.

- What you do in "real life"

I'm a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin, studying Economics.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

A friend and I realized that video game collections are better than all other collections because you can actually do something with your collection as opposed to just hanging it up on a wall. Thinking about this, and thinking back on video games of my childhood has made me go back and pick up a lot of the games I used to love, and some others that I never had the chance to play.

Hi!!

*copy/paste activate!!*

- Who you are

I'm a 22 year old female (yup!) with a liking for anything that's anime, manga, Internet and retro gaming!! And anything that's a chemical explosive... 8-)

- Where you live

I've lived in Norfolk, Virginia for all of my life!

- How you found the forums

I stumbled onto them when I was looking for Super Famicom games to buy, and also when looking for a way to play Lagrange Point on an NES. I'm also a member on Racketboy!

- What your favorite games are

RPGs, puzzles, and shmups! Especially Tetris and all of its many incarnations. Also many games based on anime I like, even if the games' concept is stupid - the cute or coolness factor of the anime overrides it!

- What systems you collect for

SNES and Super Famicom. I have so many of those games and accessories, it's not even funny. (And I am amazed at the massive boxed/complete full set of SFC games that I believe one or two members here have...) I also have a fair-sized collection of GBC, GBA and DS games. I do occasionally dabble in NES, N64, GC and PS1/PS2 game collecting, and am aiming to start a Saturn collection in the near future.

- What you do in "real life"

I'm... currently unemployed *curses awful economy* but I'm a chemist by training and a licensed pharmacy technician. All I need is a job! :grrr:

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I started collecting and playing video games when I was 12, when anime and the Internet started getting popular. Sailor Moon was my favorite anime at the time, so this led me to playing a translated rom of the Sailor Moon RPG game Another Story. This ended up in me tracking down a SNES, modding it, and very nicely asking my parents to get me the Super Famicom cartridge of it on eBay, never mind that it was in Japanese... LOL Ten years later, I now have all of the Sailor Moon SFC carts (as well as many, MANY other SFC games) and with a SFC system coming in the mail by next week, so that's a childhood dream fulfilled!

Hello classic gamers, my name is Bill and I'm a 29 year old classic gamer fan who has been looking for a good community to join to discuss retro video games with other fans, I guess I found it!

Well, I guess I will start out by telling you all a little about me and my love for classic video games, this is my favorite part. Like with many here, I started out with the Atari VCS/2600 in the early 80's and had a ton of great games but I was really young and didn't really appreciate them until I bought another 2600 at a flea market in 1994 where I really sank my teeth into the system and it's vast library if titles. I recieved my first NES in 1989 and it was most certainly the NES that made me fall in love with the medium and want to devote hour after hour to playing my favorite video games, to this day the NES remains my favorite system of all-time and it will probably NEVER be replaced at the top of The Captain's mountain.

I eventually ended up with a Super NES in 1993 and fell in love with it much like I did with the NES, but for some reason the SNES does not give me that emotional feeling I get when I play my NES, it's still a great console though and I still love it to this day. One of my most fond memories came in 1996 when me and a friend built a "game room" at my house and we had the dream of owning every console on the market at that time, and we can damn close, this was also the time when I fell in love with my 2nd favorite system of all-time, the 3DO. Yes, you read that correctly, the 3DO. There was just something special to me about it back then and still to this day I pop a game in and play the 3DO every now and again.

I also became a fan of the Genesis, Jaguar and Playstation around this time, all of which have had games that I will always have fond memories of playing, including the Jaguar, which a lot of people ended up hating but it holds a special place in my heart.

Well, that was a brief history of me and classic gaming, I still fire up all my systems throughout the course of the year but my NES is the system that get's the most play, mainly because I have the most games for the NES compared to every other system I own. As far as current consoles go, I own a XboX360 and a few games for it, hopefully someday I can feel the love for it that I feel for my classics, but today's games don't give me that sense of wonder and excitement that the vintage games give me.

See you on the boards!

Another retro gaming tragic here from Australia! I love my 70's and 80's arcade games. To the extent of building a cocktail cab running MAME (http://dannygalaga.com/mame.htm)

Then when i moved and couldnt take it with me i got into consoles. N64 was the first console i ever bought, two years ago! Now i have a few more, latest is an Atari Jaguar. Had fun making a rotary controller (http://dannygalaga.com/atari.html) for tempest 2000 with it (",)

Favourite game at the moment i guess is Tempest 2000, what with the rotary controller! In general i think i dig the N64 games more than any other (cartridge) system. Just started out on Conkers Bad Fur Day, which is a great laugh! All time fav on my favourite system is Goldeneye. But Being really old school, my absolute favourite games (can't name one) would be the classic arcade games. Galaxians probably tops the list (yeah i know, why danny galaga then? its because danny galaxians didnt have the right 'feel'!)

So i mainly collect for N64, Megadrive, SMS. I pretty much have everything that interests me for the Jaguar (six games). A bit of Atari Lynx too. I also have a neo geo pocket which is a beautiful machine, but not really collecting anything else for it.

Mainly i dig cartridge based systems then. And of course arcade machines. Will have to get something nice once i have the room...

Hi, I'm Buzz, and I just joined here even though I've been visiting this site for a year or 2. I used to have a very populor Mario emulation website from 1999 - 2001, but since then moved on to other things. My first system was an Atari 5200, then later got a NES for Christmas. I've done some video game reviews on Youtube as part of Ghetto Gamers, and plan to go out on my own with reviews. I currently have over 45 game systems, and over 1000 games. I'm hoping to get along with some of you, if not all of you. :) Game on!

Greetings!

Loooooooooong time lurker here, finally saying hello!

I've been reading the forums (and the rest of the site) for years now yet I've never took the plunge as to participate in this great community.
Until now, that is.

I'm a 27 year old videogame packrat from the Netherlands.
Recently I went back to the university to once again pick up my studies (being Dutch language and culture) after years of doing unschooled and underpaid manual labour.

When it comes to gaming I tend to collect a heck of a lot more than I play.
I'm in the process of collecting all PAL dreamcast games but tend to pick up just about anything if the price is low enough.
That explains why I must be approaching about a thousand games now.
The great thing about these forums is that I will probably not be frowned upon for having so many games, most of which I will likely never get to play. :D
Apart from the dreamcast, I'm really font of handheld gaming.
Especially on the original gameboy (which is where it all began for me) and it's later iterations.
Yet for some reason the xbox live arcade games take up much of my playing time. Which is weird considering how much I love the physical part of this collecting hobby.

My love for games is almost as big as my love for music.
So alongside my studies and gaming I spent most of my time on the band I'm in (a progressive melodic death metal band) and going to gigs.

That's about it, my apologies for the long post (which is long).

I'm Jessica, 25, currently living in California originally from Wisconsin. I was referred to the forums by someone on the Gamefaqs forums, and this looks like a fun place that I might fit into :)

I'm currently collecting for Playstation, Gameboy (as well as GBC and GBA), Dreamcast, and SNES. I am specifically looking to pick up empty PS1 long boxes.

Welcome Jessica! Those are all excellent gaming systems that you collect for. It seems that the PS1 long boxes are somewhat rare these days, good luck in finding what you need. The only long boxes I have I plan on keeping, and they are not empty boxes. Eventually you'll have access to the For Sale/Wanted section after I think 10 posts and some time, then maybe someone can help you there.

Hi, I'm a collector like most of you out there. I also play some of the current gen games (just got through MGS4). Which remids me, I'm a long time fan of Metroid, Metal Gear, Mario, Pokemon R/Y/B (and only those verisons), and older FPS games.

Also, I started gaming on the NES (almost everybody did, or the 2600). The first game I ever played was Karate Champs (I was the white robed guy). From then I went onto SNES and N64. My first game console was a black N64 with SM64 and Bomberman Hero (I still have them ever sine I got them in Christmas of 1998).

I started collecting in 2005. When I traded my PSONE for a second model Sega Genesis. Ever since then, My collection has cost me thousands of dollars and thousands of inches in space.

My signature explains it all.

I'm pretty new on the collecting scene. I just started 6 months ago on my Sega Genesis collection.
When I got really involved in collecting. A friend of mine(who has been collecting over 10 years) told me about this "Bible" known as the digital press collectors guide. Sure enough I bought a copy of the advance edition and that brought me to your forum. :D

Thanks DP now I have something to keep track of my collection.

Cześć wszystkim. (pol.)

Hi everyone.

I'm Dred. I come from little post-communist country called Poland (between Germany and Russia). Maybe anyone heard about it. Now I am a high school student.

Also, I'm interested in music (especially: rock and metal; favourite band -> Wishbone Ash) and oldschool audio technologies (vinyls, etc.). And of course retrogaming! ^_^ Favourite console: Soper Nintendo. Best games ever made: Final Fantasy VI & Sensible Soccer.

Sorry about my broken english.

12-23-2009, 06:37 PM
Hey folks. My name is Christoph. I'm 29 years old and live in Kennesaw, GA, a quiet suburb of Atlanta. I'm a tech support manager by day. Well, night. I'm pretty much nocturnal.

I don't have much of a "collection" as such, but my favorite system of all time is the SNES. I started playing on the Intellivision as a toddler, moved up to the NES, and I've been a Nintendo kid ever since, though lately, I play more on the 360 than anything else. My tag is The Stoph, look me up sometime!

I go through phases of wanting to collect, but "real life" always seems to get in the way before I can get it going. My house has a nice, big, finished basement. It's perfect to line the walls with ancient gaming relics... Right now my goal is to obtain a good condition Super Famicom, just for aesthetic value. I just got a top loading NES for myself for Xmas. Man, that thing is tiny...

Hey Everybody. My name is Steve I am 29 years old. I am from Monroe, Washington USA. I have been collecting and gaming for about 25 years now. I work doing packaging, and shipping for a large stuffed animal company. I got started gaming when I was 4. Neighbor had a 2600 I got to play with lots of games, and that was my first console gaming experience. When I was 6 I got my first console, I chose to go with a Master System over the NES because no one else had it and I liked it better. From that point on I have been a big fan of the alex kidd games (you can probably tell by my user name :)) among other favorites. Right now I collect for Sega SG-1000, Sega Genesis, Intellivision, and N64.

I found the site through members over at gamegavel. They have pointed me this way numerous times, so I figured I had better join. :) I have the same user name at game gavel, screw attack, Sega-16, and CAG if any of you are members there.

Favorite Games Right Now: Mega Turrican, Shining Force II, Musha, Grind Stormer, Star Control. All games for the Genesis my favorite old school system I still play today.

I have been meaning to post here for quite a while now. Love the site, and the amount of forum activity. Hope to meet some of you in the future. Happy Holidays Everyone!

Hello everyone, I'm Marcus. I've been living in California my entire 19 years of existence and am pretty happy here. I've been gaming for about as long as is humanly possible (probably like the most of you!) and despite my young age I started out with lots of Atari 2600 games, some version of Pong, and an Apple IIe. In real life I'm tremendously boring, play a lot of games, and sometime engage in classes. Maybe.

I've had this site in my bookmarks for years and would usually just use it for the online rarity guide. I think it might have been just today that I realized/was interested in checking out the forums. Well, better late than never, right?

Some of my favorite games... well, a whole lot of them are more modern, but I guess I can't help what I like! Some of my favorite games are: Silent Hill, Killer7, Phantasy Star Online, Bushido Blade, Space Station Silicon Valley, Shenmue, Diablo II, Dig Dug, Joust. Nothing all too unexpected there!

Basically I'll happily get any games I think are awesome for whatever console they are (that I own, preferably). My largest amount of games on any console is PS2, but I wouldn't say I'm specifically collecting for it. I'd really love to have more N64 games so I'll say that's what I'm going for. Mostly I'm looking to expand my console collection because, as it stands, I basically only own the "popular" consoles from NES generation forward.

I can't think of a time that I specifically thought that I was collecting games. I only know that I've always loved them and generally had more than my friends did. Perhaps it was a time in high school when my friend bought herself a shelf for all her games and was proud of this and all I could think was how TINY it was. Maybe then I realized I was engaging in buying video games more than the average person. But now that I'm certain of my constant desire for more, I'm looking to make friends with other collectors out there!

My collection isn't the best by far, but it's all about the fun and memories we have about our respective games, right?

Hi, I'm Scott, I just joined yesterday. I've stumbled across this site various times in the past while looking for random classic gaming information. I never noticed the forums, however, until somebody mentioned them on GameFAQs. The older system boards on GameFAQs have gotten really slow lately, so here I am! From what I hear, the crowd here is better, more mature, so that should be good.

I'm 24 and I've been married for over 4 years to my High School sweetheart! We recently had our first baby, she's a month old! I lived in NC most of my life, but a few months after graduating college last year, we moved to FL and I got a full-time job as a computer programmer.

I've been gaming since I was 3. I started hardcore on the NES and was somehow able to beat games at that age that are still hard to this day. I moved on to the SNES shortly after it came out and that was definitely the "Golden Years" for me, as many call it. I also got a Game Boy somewhere in there, and upgraded to a Game Boy Color when it came out. I got a N64 when it came out, and was blown away at the time and wore out games like Goldeneye, Mario Kart 64, and Super Mario 64. But, that system didn't age well with me, it's definitely all been downhill since SNES. I couldn't afford a GBA or GC when they came out, and then shortly after their release was when I went on somewhat of a gaming hiatus. I was extremely busy my last 2 years of High School with AP classes, sports, working, and most importantly, my girlfriend, that I just didn't have time for games. I played some games here and there at friends houses or whatever, but it was very RARE. Then I started college and was taking full-time classes and working full-time, so I still didn't have time. It wasn't until my Junior year that I finally started fitting games back into my life (I still had all of my older games, just hadn't been playing them). By then, I had missed out on practically the entire 6th generation, and the 7th generation was already underway. So, ever since then I've been working on catching up on all that I missed (while ALSO trying to catch up on classic games that I still want to play or re-play). I got a GBA SP (backlit) and started catching up on GBA games, and about a year later got a DS Lite and started getting DS games. Got a GC mainly for Mario Kart DD. I also got a 360 and a Wii. There's very little on the 360 that I care to play, mainly Halo. The Wii has a few titles I like. So now, I basically have a monsterous list of games to play and very little time to do so as I work full-time, am married, and have a child, so I just play a little here and there when I have free time. But I'm ok with that, I love my family, and I've got the rest of my life to play all these games, because there are less and less games coming out that I even care to play so not much new is really being added to my list.

Favorites Games (in somewhat order, but not exact)

Legend of Zelda series
Final Fantasy VI, IV, X, Adventure, Legend, Legend II, VIII
Secret of Mana
Donkey Kong Country 2, then 1, then 3
Blaster Master
Super Mario Bros. 3, then 1, then World
Mario Kart DD/64/Wii
Chrono Trigger
Pokemon R/B/Y and G/S/C
TMNT IV: Turtles in Time
Castlevania series
Contra series
Super Mario 64
Goldeneye 007
Banjo Kazooie/Tooie
Halo series

That's about it I guess, mainly Platformers and RPGs. I like tons more games than this, just trying to list my absolute favorites.

I collect mainly for NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, and DS. I don't care to have a large quantity of games, I just try to get all of the good quality games, at least, IMO. I've got a lot and I'm slowly closing in on having all of the games that I care to have for these systems. I do collect for N64, GC, Wii, Genesis, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 as well, but the number of games I care to have for those systems is very low.

Also, on the note of collecting, I used to care about having all of my games "complete", but I finally gave up on that recently. I just got tired of spending more on games just to have the box and manual sit in storage, never to be used. Now, for newer games that come with dedicated cases to hold the game, I definitely get it complete. But older games that just came in cardboard boxes, like NES, SNES, etc, I just get cart-only. I've been slowly working on selling all of my excess boxes and manuals, just don't care to have them anymore.

Other than gaming, I like to run and lift weights, I'm interested in technology/computers/electronics and like learning anything new in those areas. I like good movies and good music. I enjoy board games and anything competitive. But most all, I love my wife and daughter and love spending time with them.

Wow, that ended up being really long. If you read all of that, thank you! If you care to comment on anything, feel free to send me a PM!

Hey! My name is Mike. I'm 22 years old and work at a local videogame store in Statesboro called Gamesboro. I've been playing games for forever. My dad had a 5200 and when I turned 3, I got my NES. It's been chaos ever since. In the past couple of years I really began collecting videogames. I have a pretty small collection of around 400 or so titles, but it's growing everyday.
I mainly play shmups, fighters and adventure games. Some of my favorite titles include: Super Metroid, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Capcom vs. SNK 2, Gradius III, Mushihimesama, Espgaluda, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max: Hit the Road and Diablo II.

What up everyone, Yoshi here! Just joined the site after browsing through some retro gaming sites. I just recently decided to start a serious game collection. I have been seriously collecting for only a couple weeks, but I am already hooked. I also plan on completing/finishing/beating every game in my collection, so I should have plenty to do with my free time.

My favorite game of all time is, without a doubt...Resident Evil 2. I'm into basically every genre of gaming. Some of my other favorite games include Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XII, Galaga, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil Remake, NCAA Football series, Socom 2, Call of Duty 4, the original Mega Man, Toki, basically the entire Mario series, Ocarina of Time, and many others. I am collecting games for all systems that I currently own: NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox 360, Gameboy (Color), and the Gameboy Advanced. I plan on picking up a few more systems and collecting for them as well, particularly the Virtual Boy, Neo Geo, 2600, and Sega Saturn.

Peace for now, Stay High!

Hi.

The name's Chris. I found this site totally by chance one day, when I wasn't even looking for anything video game related. It just so happened that I enjoy video games, however, so I guess it all worked out for the best.

I'm a collector for the NES, SNES, Genesis, GBC, and GBA. I'm looking into getting a DS next year, once Golden Sun 3 and Dragon Quest IX (hopefully) hit the streets.

Hi! My name is Rob and I'm from Spain. I'm 25 years old, yes I'm an old men :( and I'm collecting videogames since few years ago.

My collection is from NES gen to XBOX360 gen but I'm in love with 16 bits PAL systems (SNES, MD and TG) but if some NTSC games are exclusive from this region and I like it I collect them too.

I'm Matt. I'm 25 years of age. I live in Texas. I moved here in October after living my entire life in Minnesota.

I work at a Testing Center and I am currently considering going back to school to get my masters degree in education.

I've been to this website several times and thought I might give the forums here a shot.

My current favorite games:

Super Castlevania IV
Metroid
Golden Axe
Parasol Stars
Actraiser
Super Ghouls and Ghosts
Blazing Lazers
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Splatterhouse 2
Air Buster

Collecting for me is almost a sidenote to me. I really like playing games, first and foremost. I only purchase games if I get a good deal on them, or I actually want to play them. I have played every game I own. . . maybe not extensively, but played nonetheless.

Collecting is nostalgic for me, as I'm sure it is for most people here. I get games that I remember playing and liking, or games I wish I could have owned while a child. As a kid I rarely got new games, so there is plenty I never experienced.

I currently collect mostly for 16 bit systems. I love the Sega Genesis. Probably my favorite system of all time. I also love the Sega CD. Sega's system has so many arcade style games. I love it. I recently got a JVC X'Eye and Sega Nomad to add to my growing 16 bit Sega collection.

I am also looking to expand my Super Nintendo collection.

This last summer I finally got my hands on a Turbo Grafx 16, I've wanted on since I first saw one as a kid (I also obtained a PC Engine), which is a supremely underrated system. I have picked up about 30 games for it so far. My favorite being Parasol Stars.

I should stress though, that I love, and will always love my NES.

I also like refurbishing and minorly modding systems. I enjoy changing out LEDs (I never use blue. . . I don't like them. Amber is the coolest!) and Painting really thrashed systems I find at thrift stores or garage sales. It's funny seeing how much crud collects in them over the years.

So first off I mostly made this account so that I could post on the NXE Thread: www.digitpress.com/nxe_is_a_pain_how_do_I_remove_it? (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1663223#post1663223) (don't copy and paste that it will get you nowhere, oh and my post is 31) I am excited to have stumbled across this resource and plan on coming back.

My all time favourite games are:
The Legend of Zelda (all of them, my all time favourite is Ocarina of Time)
Gran Turismo 2 (as I listen to the Garage Song titled "Soul of the Garage")
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Black (Needs Multiplayer)
Need for Speed: Highstakes
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2
Syphon Filter
Splinter Cell (all of them)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl
Halo (all of them except for Wars, and now I am really really really bored of 3)

You know what? There are too many to list.

I found this site while looking up information on various game rarities, and found a few thinks that interested me, so here I am!

I've been a gaming enthusiast since '91, started importing SFC/FC games and equiptment, and now I'm trying to start up a games/systems rental business with a few friends.

Now on to discussing stuff! :3

Hello! My name is Neil. I live on Vancouver Island, am 24 and have been gaming for as long as I can remember. I'm primarily interested in collecting NES and SNES, but I've recently become very interested in the TG16 and PCE. The last console I picked up was a PCE Core Grafx with Ninja Gaiden, Parasol Stars, Valkyrie No Densetsu, New Zealand Story, and Space Harrier.

Hello!

My name is Tyrone and I'm from California. I've known about DP for a very long time--from when back it was a paper fanzine sent via mail.

My favorite games are probably on the PC Engine/TG16 and/or Sega Genesis. But if I have to list a few: Lords of Thunder, Phantasy II, Tetris, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Dracula X, Kaze Kiri, Ys I&II

I make games.

Hi everyone!

Golden here. Born in 1978, I grew up with the 2600, Intellivision, Colecovision (including the Adam) and Apple 2 in my home. I was the only kid I knew who preferred Sega over Nintendo back in elementary and high school. I'm still a Sega fanboy at heart, but have a love of all retro gaming.

I currently own a Sega Genesis w/ Power Base Converter, Sega CDX (my pride and joy), Sega Game Gear, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast and TG-16. I have all the current gen consoles to, but those are just toys to me, as I'd much rather play games on any of the other systems I listed.

I have plans to expand my collection to include an NES and SNES, but that'll have to wait a year or so. I'm a Canadian (from Toronto), but am currently living in Hong Kong. I'll be moving back home in 2011, so that's when the collection will be growing again :)

I am very much in to console emulation as well. My Dingoo A320 and AtGames Gopher are my favourite toys for commutes to and from work. I fully believe in supporting the retro scene and donate to those who spend countless hours contributing to the scene.

When I'm not gaming, you'll usually find me doing something music related. Wether it's playing guitar or just chilling to some great tunes (if you haven't already, go out and buy Mother Mother's "O My Heart").

That's all for now. Hello again and I look forward to being part of some great retro discussions!

I have never been much for introductions and usually skip this section in most message boards but i love this place and this site has got me back into retro gaming hardcore. There are 2 other sites i found recently i also love, Atariage and Nintendoage but i found this site first. So it's #1

I grew up in Michigan (live in Tennessee now) and the only system my mother ever bought me was an Intellivision II. I had a friend who had an Atari and another who had an Nes so i still got to play other systems, but most of my time was playing the Intellivision. I can remember the all night gaming sessions playing NBA Basketball and Super Pro Basketball with a friend, and i can't remember how many other games. I had roughly 37 or so games for it. They all got sold at a Garage sale around maybe 93 or 94 i think. The controllers didn't work anymore and if i had known the internet age was around the corner i would of kept it. I was really clueless and thought i was out of luck forever. Never seen any Intellivisions at Garage Sales in the area and we went to a lot of them. Toys R US used to sell spare controllers but even they stopped selling them by then. I had some rare games like Diner, Super Pro Wrestling, Super Pro Decathlon. I just recently bought an Intellivision from a seller here and i am happy again. Now i just need to get some of those rare games back.

The first system i bought with my own money was a Genesis. So i was a Sega guy more than a Nintendo guy back then. I sold the Genesis to pay for a PS1, sold that to get a PS2 etc. Now i'm a Intellivision guy, a Sega guy, Nintendo guy and Atari guy. Just last year bought my first Atari and realized maybe i was wrong as a kid. Maybe the Intellivision wasn't that much better than the Atari after all. I'm really addicted to some Atari games i had never played before.

So right now i own an Intellivision II, Atari 2600, Nes, Snes, Genesis, Sega CDX, Power Base Converter, Gamecube, PS2, and a Sega Dreamcast. And i have no idea how i afford all this with my dead end job. I literally live check by check. At the moment i am gonna be late on a bill because i bought too much video games this month. lol

I'm feeling real nostalgic and had my mother dig up a couple of pictures i want to share. One is from Christmas 83 and one from Christmas 84. Enjoy

I may copy and paste this over to Atariage and Nintendoage as well. I need to introduce myself there and don't want to type all this again. lol

I'm Matt, 25, and a lifetime gamer. NES is my favorite system, bar none.

For fun, I like to write, play my keyboard, make RPGs on my PC with the maker, listen to music (preferably twentieth century), read, collect and watch movies and TV DVD's/blu-rays, and sports is ok sometimes. My roots are in the South (Tennessee, Alabama, etc) and I've lived there my whole life. I'll be graduating this May from college in Alabama. I look forward to life after school.

As for today's game stuff, I love Wii and DS Lite- not too crazy for the DSi since the GBA slot is gone. Even though I have a PSN account, I find myself glued to the Wii and DS more than PS3 or 360.

I am glad to be part of a growing board.

Hey, so I'm new here, found the forum via googling S-Video Modded SEGA Genesis, since I'm looking to get one, but this seems like my kinda place, so I think I'll stick around. So onto the introductory questions.

- Who you are
Just another dude that likes games

- Where you live
Toronto, Canada

- How you found the forums
Google, looking for S-Video modded Sega Genesis

- What your favorite games are
Crap, where to start... shortlist, in no particular order of system or preference: The 4 classsic Sonic games for the Genesis, Phantasy Star IV, X-Men 2 Clone Wars, X-Men Mutant Apocalypse, Zelda Link To The Past, Spider-Man and Venom Maximum Carnage, Super Mario World, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, Chrono Trigger... you know, I'll just stop here or this will become TLDR

- What systems you collect for
Genesis/SEGA CD/32x, Master System, SNES, Game Boy Advance, DS, The 3 Playstations

- What you do in "real life"
We can get to that another time, maybe

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
It all started with a Sega Genesis, when I was 9 :D good times... also I'll have you know I'm married (to a real woman) who loves games as much as I do... yes gamer chicks are real! (and no, she's not 800lbs). My other hobby is DJing, hence the name.

That's all I got for now :)

Hey guys!

I doubt it, but one or two of you may recognize me from some NES forums--NintendoAge, PlaytheNES, etc. I'm just a fella that loves old games and thought this might be a good resource in my collecting arsenal.

I hate to be a n00b around here, but I guess this is the best thread for it--is there a buy/sell section? I love initiating trades and sales in the forums but I don't have a good platform to do that with my non-NES stuff.

Nice to finally get to know DP a bit :band:

Hi, I’m Vince, from Normandy (France). I was born in 1972.

I found this forum by googling about retro gaming.

I like classic arcade games (Galaga, Donkey Kong, Gauntlet) but also computer games like Elite or Populous.

When I was younger, I played in the arcades and also at home with these machines: ZX81, Colecovision, Oric Atmos, Amstrad CPC6128, Atari ST, Falcon, GameBoy and Lynx.

Now I try to collect any of the video games of the 80s. I also own 2 Mamecabs to play arcade games.

In real life, I’m a sailor.

I started collecting when I bought my first arcade cabinet. It remembered me all the good times of the past. So I plugged my old Colecovision which was sleeping in its box for about 20 years… and it all started again!

Hello everyone!

My name is Hannibal! ( yeah, it's my REAL name! ) and I am from Paterson, NJ, but now I live in Clifton, NJ. ( home of the world-famous Digital Press! )

I'm 23 years-old, and I enjoy all types of video games. I grew up with the Sega Genesis and Sonic has always been my favorite game. I remember my older brothers playing with the old Atari 2600 ( Pac Man, anyone?).

I can still remember staying up all night playing all the old Sonic games, MK, Streets of Rage, Paper Boy, Street Fighter II, etc.

I remember back in 96, when I was introduce to the world of PlayStation; I wanted one since that very day, lol.

Finally, on Christmas Day of 1998, I had my very own PSX! I spend the whole day playing the Demo that came with it ( MGS -in Japanese!, Spyro the Dragon, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, MediEvil ). It was single handly the greatest day of my life, lol.

Over time, I moved on to the PS2, and I was hooked even more!

The first system I bought for myself was the Gamecube back in 03. To this day, I still love playing it. Over time I went on the the Xbox, 360, and the PS3.

Games now look better, and have so many inovative designs to 'em, but there is nothing like playing the old Classics!

kale

I've actually been around for a little while, but I never actually introduced myself. :)

Hi my name is Kelly and I am 24. Kale is a nickname that combines phonetic elements of my first and last name. I got it when I was on a project in Iceland because there was another Kelly and she had more seniority than me. I grew up in Northern California, but I currently live in Tempe, Arizona while I finish my graduate work. I found these forums because I discovered reproductions and immediately fell in love with the possibilities.

My favorite games are largely RPGs. My all time favorite is Earthbound/Mother 2. My little sister got it for her 5th birthday way back in 1995 when it came out, and since then I have probably beaten the game somewhere in the area of 50 times.

Additionally, I love much of the classic Final Fantasy series, Contra, the Mega Man series, the Harvest Moon series, Super Mario RPG, Zelda, Secret of Mana, Double Dragon, the great platformers (DKC, Mario) and all the Star Fox games that actually involve flying the arwing. Also, Age of Empires II. Also, Wave Race 64, which I became freakishly good at when I was about 12.

I collect for basically all the Nintendo consoles, but primarily NES and SNES right now. I've got an okay collection for N64, a pretty mediocre collection for GC and an almost non-existent (though developing) collection for Wii. I have a Super Famicom and I'm also collecting imports.

I also have PS1/PS2 collections, but they consist largely of just RPGs. I'd love to get recommendations on truly classic/unmissable Playstation games that aren't RPGs.

Currently, I really want a PS3, but I can't really justify purchasing one when I already spend all this money on games made in the 80s. I also want a Neo Geo AES and am currently on the lookout for a decent deal. Maybe some day I will even get a Sega, but I obviously grew up as a Nintendo kid and part of me is still intimidated by Sega.

I only have two handhelds that I collect for - GBA and DS. I freaking LOVE my DS and play it even at the most improper of times.

In real life I'm a disgruntled PhD student and a professional archaeologist. I'm also engaged to a super cute non-gamer and we have a lazy 10 month old kitten. I like to travel to uncommon or unusual places in the world, do photographer, write fiction, blog and do MMA (boxing/BJJ).

Nice to meet everyone!

Greetings everyone. My name's Matt and I'm 19 years old.

I live in eastern Pennsylvania, and I've lived here all my 19 year life. Haha.

I found the forums while browsing Google about sealed copies of SNES games. I read Jerome's in depth post and knew I had to join.

Some of my favorite games are Sky Shark [NES], Double Dragon I, II, III, POW, Contra, Mario 1, 2, 3, Donkey Kong Country, Street Fighter series, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong 64, Super Mario 64, and the list goes on into modern games.

I collect games for the NES, SNES, and occasionally the Nintendo 64. I love collecting sealed NES and SNES games, and finding a good copy is half the fun. I'd love to start collecting some custom/reproductions such as Earthbound Zero and StarFox 2. I plan on customizing NES consoles, and some SNES consoles as well. My first task is to make a Zelda themed Nintendo 64. :-D

Most of my time, I work at Burger King.. Sad. If I'm not working there, I'm working on my car (1991 Camaro), or just playing some video games [A lot of Left for Dead]. I do graphic design/merch design for bands and clothing companies. I like to sell things as a hobby as well. I collect a lot of other things, such as Vintage Star Wars items, 90's and 80's toys, some modern toys, and Michael Jackson memorabilia.

I began gaming when I was a little older than 2. I used to play the NES. Some games were Metroid, Super Mario Brothers, and Tiny Toons. I remember it fondly somehow. Then later on, I used to play Snake's Revenge, Double Dragon, Skyshark and so forth. Then soon after, I got the Super Nintendo. I had a decent collection of games for it including Mario RPG, Mario All-Stars, Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat 1 and 2, Donkey Kong Country, etc etc. Unfortunately, I had to sell all of it a few years ago because we needed money. I regret it to this day and I'm STILL trying to get everything back.

On the bright side, I do have DKC in the box again, Mario RPG with the box, mint book, but no cart, and a handful of SNES games that I once had. My sealed collection is growing.
NES- Magmax, Gyruss, Skyshark, Paperboy
SNES- F-Zero, ShaqFu, Battle Clash, Metal Combat, Wayne's World, Cleaning Kit
N64- Perfect Dark

Sorry for such the long post, but I hope it's worth reading!

Hello from the Last Frontier! My name is Phillip and I come from Fairbanks, Alaska.

Gaming has always been a part of my life, though I didn't have any consoles until I got an N64 back when it came out. Only recently did I decide to start collecting and catch up on the classics that I'd missed over the years. I don't have much yet but I'm always keeping an eye out for something good.

Hope to meet some other Alaskan retro gamers out there as well.

Hello. I'm Dan. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa117/dannyboy_321/me.jpg I'm from Indiana, I collect GBs and GB games. My favorite game is Halo for PC. When my comp's not blown up, I'm blowing up Masterchiefs (Masterchieves? haha) online. I found these forums searching for a way to replace the GB Pocket's screen cover. In real life.. I work for a drive-in restaurant, Dog 'n' Suds, and my spare time is consumed with computers and tv. No surprise. Oh and I'm 20. And I began collecting game boys because of some really old train sets my grandparents have.. and it's really cool to have stuff that old, so I thought I'd get more for my kids to have. Cheerio.

Hi my name is Dale. I recently came across the board multiple times through Google searches. The threads I read helped answer some questions and were entertaining, so I decided it was a place I would like to be.

I'm not a huge gamer. I like playing older games and easier games. I've just never been really good. My favorite system is the N64 and I love collecting stuff for it, and it is really the only system I play consistently. Mario would be my favorite series of games, and I like all the variations of Mario: Kart, golf, tennis, strikers, etc..

I've owned a PS3 for about 2 years and have never played a game in it. I love it though and use it everyday, just for other things than gaming. It seems the games just take too much time to get skilled at and enjoy. If someone has recommendations of games for it I might enjoy that are simpler and along the lines of Mario or Crash Bandicoot, then feel free to let me know.

I'm 22, been going to college for 3 years, hated it for 3 years, and recently decided to join the Navy. I'll be leaving for boot camp in about 6 months.

I like to ask questions. If I believe I know the answer, I'll still ask the question just for confirmation, so I hope I don't bother anyone with that. Also all my questions and posts will more than likely be N64 related, so I hope to get to know the N64 fans. Thanks very much everyone. I look forward to talking. Take Care.

Currently I am expanding my collection in SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PS1, and maybe get into Turbo Graphix 16 (though I only played the actual system once). I tend to sell from my personal collection from time to time due to space clutter and brining in new items almost every other day.

Hahaha yeah- well I'm 14 and have an undying love for NES and SNES games. I don't do auction websites much though, and here where I live very few places sell the old stuff. I starting collecting around the age of 10, although I have very few "rare" games. Favorite thing in my collection is my boxed "Adventure Island" which I bought for five bucks off an older person and which is valued at around 20 dollars. Perhaps more considering the manual and cart appear to be in pristine or mint condition.

Hello my name is Jonathan i'm 16 years old and i live in the state of Maryland. I've been playing games since i was about 5 (1998) and i've been collecting since i was 11 (2004). I have over 2000 games for over 38 systems (not counting my pc) my main collecting interests are SNES and PS1. I am currently in school and have a part time job. I found this forum when i was looking around the internet for my favourite section of Tips & Tricks magazine the collector's closet one of the links on the first page brought me to digital press and i've been lurking around the forums ever since. This is my first time on any internet forum but i hope i can help add to the community and learn a thing or two myself.

I live on Long Island in the state of New York in the state of depression.

I found this forum on a google search. I don't know if I'll be an active member here, but I'll be sure to drop in from time to time.

My favorite games are The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Half Life 2.

I'm not really into the collecting business. I just like playing games that trigger nostalgia for my childhood or otherwise entertain me.

I am currently a student. I want to get into the field of psychology or philosophy in a few years.

I'm Joshua Hacker, and no that's not a joke. My last name literally is Hacker.
I live in the Midwest of the USA. It's not a bad place to live, and it's cool being from the same part of the country as Mellencamp and Seger.

I Love making people laugh, and have been putting comedy vids on youtube. I specialize in impressions, and sometimes a little prop comedy is thrown in. I just got some of these new programs figured out, and need a little time to script out my material. I'm not going pro, I just wanna do it for the fun of doing it.

Please check me out on youtube. My channel is JRodHacker, just like on here. Please rate and comment. If you don't like something I say or do, I'm open to constructive criticism.

I study Martial Arts, and love going to tournaments. I can hold my own in a fight, but I prefer running forms. Our school's competition team is kinda small, but we do good. I'm the weapons specialist, and I'm best with Sai, Tonfa and Nunchakus.

I believe that no fighting style is better or worse. It just boils down to if you are learning good techniques and stances, or if your teacher is an idoit showing you lazy technique and doesn't care if you can protect yourself as long as he gets paid to teach. So, yeah...good technique or bad technique.

My favorite games for each system I've played....except Hand Held.
NES- Mega Man 2, Castlevania & Super Mario Bros. 3

SNES- Mega Man 7, Super Castlevania 4, TMNT 4 & Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle

Hi my name is Zyo on most web sites and online games. I live in Maryland in the usa. Heard about these forums after finding sega-16.com. Some of my favorite games are Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Phantasy Star IV, Triggerheart Exelica, Soul Calibur and Tekken.

My first system was an nes however I sold that to buy my genesis when I was a kid. I've had many different systems growing up but always ended up holding onto my sega systems. I still have my same genesis model 1 and my launch day dreamcast. I never had the desire to get rid of my sega systems like the others and my dreamcast still sees more play than even my ps3 and has always been hooked up since launch day. Recently I decided to buy a sega cd and saturn to play what I missed out on growing up. I don't know if I'd consider myself a collector, I just have more fun playing older games than newer ones it seems. In some instances I guess I get the collection bug though, I own four versions of symphony of the night lol.

Well it's good to be here looks like an interesting place to kill some time.

- Where I live: Akron, OH...the rubber capital of the world! (OK, that didn't sound right...)

- How I found the forums: Honestly, I do so much crap on the internet, it's hard to say. I bookmarked this site the other day...it was either a search on some classic game or another I was doing, or completely by accident when I spilled coffee all over my keyboard. Either way, it's nice to be here. Surprised I didn't find the place earlier.

- What your favorite games are: Do I really have to pick a favorite? There's no way I could! Final Fantasy III (VI?) comes to mind here...whenever something bad happens in my life, I can hear Kefka's taunting laughter in my mind...with "the Trooper" from Iron Maiden playing in the background. Talk about scary.

- What systems you collect for: Sadly, due to so many inconsistencies in my life, as of now I own only PS2, PS3, Gamecube, Xbox 360, and Wii. I usually download any of the classic games I play on those systems. I have, however owned just about everything from the Odyssey 2 up...yup, even a Turbografix 16.

- What you do in "real life": What else? I make rubber! Silicone actually. Good, honest labor, and it pays bills and buys me games.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

Hello Everyone,

This will probably be one long intro. :)

I have lurked every now and then on these forums over the years and every time I stopped by I found something interesting. I just want to say I love this forum and all the great information and topics. You guys come up with the best ideas for forum topics. I use to have a forum with similar topics that me and a few local friends would spend time chatting on.

About myself, I am an owner of an independent game store that has been running as Chaos Gaming Center since 2004 but in the last 6 months we have been working on reorganization and a new name. As of 2010 we will be known as Nomad Game Center. We deal in all kinds of video game items and sometimes we get some great items in at the store. We also purchase PC Games which is more of a rarity these days. Before 2004 I had another game store that was called Game Domain, this was in the 90s. All of these stores have been located in Eau Claire, WI.

Personally I have been collecting games since the Playstation 2 came out. I started playing games on the Atari 2600, and moved on to the NES and every game system since. I use to sell off my entire game console and all games with it every time a new console came out. As I got older I started missing the old days of gaming and I started re-purchasing games and consoles I sold off. I have never fully recovered my Turbo Grafx collection or my Sega Saturn collection but I have definitely gone much further into collecting some other areas I only dreamed about when I was younger and did not have the income to purchase. For example I now have a 6-slot Neo Geo Arcade that I retro fitted into a 32" Screened Tekken Cabinet.

I discovered I have a few things in common with Ben Heckendorn. He is a graphic artist, I married a graphic artist, he owns a sign shop, my wife and I own a sign shop, he is from Wisconsin, I am from Wisconsin, he just finished a Bill Paxton Pinball Machine, I am restoring a pinball machine, he always wanted a NEO GEO Arcade Cabinet, and I always wanted one, we both just finished ours. Mine is not quite ready for pics yet since I still need to lay down all the graphics. :) We both like taking things apart and re-designing them. Now all I have to do is sit down and build everything that has sat far to long in the planning stages. I read Ben will be out at http://www.midwestgamingclassic.com/ this weekend but I will have to go another year. I forgot about this and already made plans this weekend to do something else.

I started a website a year ago called www.gpsvideogamer.com that I want to make into a one stop place to find all information on Mom and Pop Retro Stores around the world. Currently I only have the game stores listed that I have personally visited. I would love anyone on here that owns a game store or knows of an independent game store in their area that they like to frequent to send me information on. I will add them to the forum listing and update as information is received.

Some additional hobbies are flashing carts and creating original box art, maps, books, etc for games that were never released in the USA but got English fan translations.

Favorite Game: Rock 'N Roll Racing for the SNES.

Sorry for the long intro but thanks for reading. I look forward to years of talking and collecting games. :)

Who you are

My name is Thomas. I go by either Tom or TJ usually.

Where you live

Atlantic Coast, in the USA.

How you found the forums

Trying to find a way to fix the ColecoVision I supposedly purchased in "working condition". Though I do own several systems (see below) that I would like to maintain. I figure I've paid money for these systems, and just because they've been phased out doesn't mean I can't keep getting my moneys worth.

What your favorite games are

Shockwave (3DO), Lemmings (3DO/PS1), Venture (CV), DK (CV), M.U.L.E. (NES, C64), Baldur's Gate (PS2) ... just to mention a few

What systems you collect for

I have the following systems: ColecoVision (not working), 3DO (working), PSOne (working), PS2 (two of them, both working), Wii (working), NDS (working).

What you do in "real life"

I am a microbiologist. Unfortunately I know very little about electronics, though I'd like to think I'm a somewhat bright individual and can pick up some basics. I just hope that picking up those basics doesn't mean I go through several machines ruining them all in the process of learning.

Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I've always liked video gaming but time really didn't allow me to pursue it. However once I got out of school, got a job, and had money to spend I picked it up as one of my hobbies. I have a backlog of games which makes me want to cry (over 100) but I'll get through some (I can't say "most") of them eventually. I'd really like to get a couple of much older consoles though because I'm really getting back to my roots. I can get a few of them on the Wii's Virtual Console but there was no greater feeling than booting up that ColecoVision and seeing that first screen ... made me tear up with joy ... which quickly turned into tears of sadness when I noticed the console wasn't working properly!

Anyways, that's a bit about me. I hope to stick around for awhile. I have this site bookmarked in my regulars!

That's like asking who my favorite child is, if I cared to have 'em. I have a different one everyday.

Hello guys,

My name is Jeff and I'm from Montreal, Quebec. I found out about the forums by searching for a retro games community. I already collected for most of 64-bit and lower era, however now, i'm mainly looking for SNES games since I got rid of everything else. In real life, i do web development for an ad agency. I'm not looking for anything in particular right now, just a good game when an opportunity comes by.

How you found the forums
I've been a long time lurker. I don't actually remember how I found this place. I'm glad I did though.
What your favorite games are
As you can probably tell from my user name/avatar, my absolute favorite game is The World Ends with You. That game is just incredible! In close second is the Silent Hill series. Mario RPG, the Metroid series, and Pokemon Gold/Silver are all tied for third.
What systems you collect for
I collect for Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo, and Super Nintendo. I own games for a lot more systems then that. Those are just the systems I hope to own complete collections for someday.
Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I've been playing video games since I was three and I don't think I will ever stop. :D

Hey all, I'm from another forum and I'm starting to collect old games. I had a bunch from my childhood and finding them after cleaning my house brought back so many awesome memories.

During the console wars SNES vs. Genesis I went with the Genesis because all my friends had a Super Nintendo and I wanted to play games they didn't have. I kind of regret this though since all the classic RPGs are on the Super Nintendo, but that didn't stop me from ever getting some.

I'm mainly collecting SNES games, controllers, etc. to start off my retro collection. I only started this recently, but I can tell I'll be doing this for a while. Especially after seeing some of your collections on here, wow! Those game rooms are amazing, I can't wait to try and set one up once I have more stuff.

Cheers!

Greetings and Salutations!

I'm Evil Avatar, the owner and webmaster of Evil Avatar - Daily Gaming News.... With Attitude. http://www.evilavatar.com

In an attempt to de-clutter my life, I set out looking for some prices for my old PC games and old Atari 2600 games and I ended up here. I have several thousand PC games that are taking up space in my office and they have to go!

Why don't they make games like Air Warrior III any more?

These days I'm mostly a console gamer and I'm de-cluttering my Xbox 360 collection as I move over to the PlayStation 3.

Up until now, you could say I collected everything. I have all my PC games since my first 486 and all my Dreamcast, Xbox, 360 and PS3 games. If I hadn't run out of room I would still be collecting all that stuff. For a while I'm limiting myself to PS3 games until I can dig myself out of the hole I'm dug into.

Yo. I'm an upside-down bird from South Jersey.

I walked into a store one day, got invited to a party at it the next day, and was introduced and registered at these forums the day after that.

A smattering of favorite games would include: Earthbound, Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Link to the Past, Chrono Cross, American McGee's Alice, Resident Evil(s), Diablo, Doom II, Blood, Duke Nukem.

My pet consoles are my Genesis and SNES, but I also hoard for the NES, N64, PlayStation, and GameBoy. I have a Sears-brand Super Pong unit, Intellivision, Dreamcast, GameCube, and Wii but they are largely neglected dust-collectors.

To make money, I'm a graphic designer and "administrative assistant". For fun, I play games, doodle, write, prance, and prance some more. Sometimes I even write and prance all at once. I'm mostly making up the part about the prancing. Doodles and writing and sometimes prancing can be seen at my blog that I am shamelessly plugging with this link (http://chickenofazure.tumblr.com).

What is the hap, dudes?

- Who you are:
My name is Benjamin Gaska
- Where you live:
Tucson, AZ
- How you found the forums:
I asked on a gaming forum for information on rare and obscure gaming and they directed me here.
- What systems you collect for:
Sort of anything I can get my hands on, my current actual focus is on the PC-FX, I hope to have a full collection of that in a few years.
- What you do in "real life":
I go to College and work at a Convenience store, thus the reason the collecting is so slow, funds are low oftentimes.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc:
I was too lazy to attempt to format my introduction in any way other than the generic formatting posted on the frontpage.

I there, my name is Warren and I am from Melbourne, Australia and I just discovered the forum this morning looking up some various information on the Mega CD.

I have always been a Nintendo gamer myself however now that I am a little older and actually have an income I am trying to go back and purcahse a lot of Sega products that I missed out on when I was younger.

I have been blessed with three healthy daughters who I am hoping one day get into console gaming themselves so I have a somewhat of a legacy to pass on (too bad our televisions in the future wont support them!!)

Hi all..been a member for a short while, now time to buckle down and introduce myself..

Armoniganns the name and I love (as we all do) classic/retro gaming.
I'm 31 years old and I live in Charlotte N.C.
I've been rockin' the retro games since before they were retro.
I mainly collect for the NES, Sega Master, 2600, 7800, and Colecovision..
My nexties will mostly be Turbo Grafx and/or the 5200.

In real life I have an awesome son, and wonderful girlfriend. I deliver Pizzas for a living. Most would think the job sucks but I simply love it. I get to ride around all day and get paid well for it, as I deliver to nothing but rich neighborhoods. I intend to eventually travel back to a "real job" but the way the economy is and as much "dough" as im making Im definately not complaining.

I've always been a collector at heart, from football cards, Garbage Pail Kids, games, money, cars, to even girlfriends (the latter has been complete for 2 years now to a beautiful woman named Laura) .

Thanks everyone for your time and I'm glad to be a part of this wonderful community.

Knock knock,

I'm Brian, 32 years old, originally from Argentina but currently bored out of my mind in Nowheresville North Carolina, U.S.A. I started a little retro gaming website just to keep me occupied in a little town where there's nothing to do, and also as an excuse to take a look at those games I missed when I was younger. Currently I'm playing through anything portable, from GameBoy and WonderSwan til PSP and DS.

Not too long ago I decided to start buying complete copies of games I really like, starting with old portables like the GameBoy, GameBoy Color, Lynx, and GBA. Once I'm done getting a hold of the titles worth buying I'll move up the ladder chronologically, I guess, and eventually to consoles like Genesis, PC Engine, Sega CD, SNES, etc. I don't have any current gen systems except a PSP and DS.

I also frequent HG101's and GameSpite's forums. Glad to join another one!

Who am I? I'm Dustin, please don't look at my e-mail, or you'll know my whole name :p
I live in Georgia, U.S. and I'm don't really remember how I found the site/forums, I can remember lurking here for a year or so. I've played most genre's of games, excluding modern FPS, platformers and RPG's are more my taste. My GBC helped me appreciate older games and got me collecting by making me think "it doesn't matter if its the latest new thing or has High-tech graphics, a games a game and its the fun that counts" I started off by simply looking in the GB games in gamestop when they still carried them, and finding a few intersting games and getting them. To be honest, then and to this day the price was a big factor, as I was depending on a little allowance, so GB games attracted me as I could get loads of them and have fun. Due to that, I hung around the GB game case every time I went to Gamestop, and eventually It became the first thing I went to there. When gamestop stopped having as much GB games, I started looking for GB stuff elsewhere, and later when I "discoverd the internet" I found more about old consoles and emulation, which made me interested in actually having one. Two years ago I finally got my first "old" console, a majesco game gear off ebay, and since then my collection has grown, with a genesis+32x, SMS, DC, and a DMG gameboy. My Gameboy and nintendo collecting has died off much as right now I'm mainly after games for my Sega consoles, though my SNES will change that.
In my real life I'm a student, which of course makes collecting a bit more of a pain due to less income and such, but I think It makes it more fun too.

My name is Todd and I just found the site today.

I live in FL but am originally from MA. I LOVE NES!!!! I just started collecting again because my parents sold my NES and all my games when I was a kid. I don't have a huge bankroll to get games so I would appreciate any and all help about where to and tips on finding cheap NES games, any help is greatly appreciated.

I work at Disney as security and it is nowhere near as fun as it might sound.

Glad to be here and talking in the forums.

Hi everyone, my name is James! I am a 13 year old obsessed with anything arcade or NES related. My current collection is not very big, but I have decided to focus mainly on collecting NES and 2600 stuff. My favorite retro game is either Metal Slug 3 or Megaman 2. My favorite modern game is either InFamous or Ratchet and Clank. I generally prefer the older stuff, but I will play my ps3 occasionally. I am somewhat good at electronic stuff, and like to build extravagant and expensive projects.

I've been to the site many times, and have ALWAYS appreciated the contributions by Joe, Sean, and John to the community. This site, their various publications over the years, and especially their organization of the Classic Gaming Expos have helped this community thrive.

Speaking of which, I very much look forward to this year's CGE, and hope to meet many of you in person there.

I've been an active collector since 1981, and my claim to, ahem... "fame" is The Atari Wall:

Hello all!

My name is David May.
I grew up in Vancouver, WA but now live in Longview, WA.
I grew up on Sega Master System, Genesis, SegaCD, Saturn. I was one of those "Sega Kids." I also have quite a bit of other stuff:
Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, SegaCD model 1, SegaCD model 2, JVC X'Eye, Sega 32X, Sega Saturn (several versions), Sega Dreamcast, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, TurboGrafx 16, PC Engine Duo-R.
Several of those systems I have modded and chipped.
Occasionally I sell NES systems I have repaired on ebay too.

I slowly am rebuilding my collections. The reason I registered here is I was at the Longview goodwill and ran into John Hancock, very nice guy by the way and he mentioned this place, among others. So John, if you are seeing this send me a message so I know your username on this place. Or if anybody else knows his username let me know.

Hey guys, I'm Ed and I'm a pretty big fan of oldschool gaming. I'm 18 and actually got into it pretty late (post-2000's) because growing up we didn't have any videogame systems, only PC. My first system was my cousin's used GBA, and since then I've collected several new and old systems, including NES, N64, PS1, PS2, DS, Wii, Odyssey 2, a Super Pong, etc. I'm primarily a PC gamer when it comes to modern gaming, having built several gaming rigs for myself and friends.

I'm not a hardcore collector, I don't have anything rare, and I mostly collect the games I want to play, but I still have a great interest in these old games. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of playing NES with my grandma; we played games such as SMB1 and 3, Tennis, Bases Loaded, etc, and she taught me most of what I know about SMB. Just found this forum while I was in my "retro mode" and it looks like a great place!

When I see any type of old technology I come to it like a moth to a light bulb!ROFL

Hey all you beautiful people! Well, my screen name is obvious, but I also go by Kellan, my parent-given name. I've been obsessed with retro games since they were contemporary (one of my fondest early memories is unwrapping my first Sega Genesis bundle, Christmas '94), but only recently have I truly come to be as truly obsessed as I am. Not a big collector of obscure systems, but I have the essentials, an NES top loader, SNES, Genesis, PS3 and Wii, and a boatload for all of them - unfortunately, all my RL friends are pretty mediocre and generally unappreciative of games, so I come here seeking like-minded comraderie!

In my life apart from the controller, I am a daytime phone receptionist at a medical clinic, and a night time novelist - my work in progress deals quite heavily in video games, as it is a "period piece" which takes place during the Sega/SNES years and beyond - this monster is another prime reason I've chosen to sign up. To see other people's views, and further my understanding of the entertainment medium I love most.

But down to brass tacks...I haven't listed my favorite games!! Kinda hard to narrow it down, but I'm going to have to go with some flimsy sort of top 5:

1. SMW2: Yoshi's Island
2. Earthbound
3. Super Castlevania IV
4. Duck Tales
5. Mega Man 2

There's so many others though...pretty much everything Konami came out with from like 91-95, Sonic 1 & 2, A Link to the Past...yada yada yada. Anyway, I look forward to meeting everyone, and sharing the love!

I've been on this site for about a month now, but for some reason just noticed this thread. My name is Chris and I'm from Ohio. I've recently gotten back into my genesis. Compared to some of the maniacs on here I wouldn't really call myself a collector but I have managed to acquire about 50 genesis games in the last month, including four systems and a sega cd for no good reason. A couple master system games (but no console:() and some sega cd games. I have also gotten my hands on a neo geo pocket color with some games. Im looking forward to getting more of everything I guess. My childhood games ruled and Modern Warfare 2 just makes me break xbox controllers, so here I am.:)

Hey everbuddeh, I'm Lucas, from Connecticut and now Los Angeles. I'm a 20-year-old kid who's put an unreasonable amount of time into playing video games, and would do it all over again.

My first video game system was an Atari 2600 my parents got at a garage sale for $6 at age 4, and I've slowly but surely been giving myself carpal tunnel ever since. I've always been a few years behind the curve in terms of video game systems, and I've been loving it; makes it easier to pick out the best ones to add to your library.

I've been favoring the Playstation systems for modern console games over the last few years, but I'm open to any and all unique, memorable, or otherwise awesome games. Lately I've been enjoying the hell out of Red Dead Redemption and Fallout 3.

The story often makes the game for me; I find myself find myself attracted to games that weave complex, meaningful character interactions through a fully realized universe. A tall order, to be sure, but it's all the more satisfying when I find a game that hits it just right. I know video games to be a true form of art, and when a developer shows they realized this, it makes me quite happy.

Some of my favorite games and series include:
Silent Hill
Metal Gear series (the MSX titles are some of the most intense 8-bit games I've ever played.)
Xenogears
Kirby series (easy but wonderful)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Megaman Legends (highly under-rated adventure game, beautiful character interactions and story.)
Thief: The Dark Project
Half-Life
Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey

Beyond playin vidya games on the couch, I like to play rock and roll, act on stage, shout, and generally behave like a benevolent degenerate.

I've always been a few years behind the curve in terms of video game systems...

Isn't our age an interesting perspective to come at gaming from? Right between that awkward SNES/N64 origin of species...I never knew which generation I belonged to. Haha, I guess it's the Sega generation.

Well welcome! And thanks for the reminder of Mega Man Legends...holy cow, haven't thought about that game forever!

Hi, my name is Richard. I have pretty much all the games I want right now - around 550 over many systems, all regions - but I'm always on the lookout for obscure things I might have missed. I've been into video games for around 20 years, and importing for 10 of those. Although I do own some rare and expensive stuff, I don't know if I'd be classed as a collector since I only buy games that I enjoy; I generally don't care to make purchases just because an item is rare, and I don't aim to own every game on a certain platform, etc.

These forums are quite well known and I've lurked here a lot, just never had a reason to post. Sometimes this site is the only place with any info on certain things, and I have some questions I need real collectors to answer!

Hi, I'm migo. I'm a fan of fighting games, but my hands cramp up playing them unless I'm on an arcade stick (or SFIV on iOS, but the controls are unprecise and therefore less satisfying), so I've been eyeing the Neo Geo Pocket Color and have been researching it to see if I should buy it. Google searches led me here.

As I put together my collection of old consoles I have here in my home I kept referencing back to this forum through google searches so I thought I'd might as well join. Most of my collection has been acquired at the moment some of it I had to astroturf through eBay. I found out 3 of my consoles were non-working so I subtituted them for alternate versions just to keep things interesting. I might post pictures later.

Hi , my name is Jeroen (you can call me Jay) from The Netherlands.
I'm 32 and I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. As a 4 year old, having US army expatriot neighbours we got exposed to all the COOL USA stuff like toys, tv shows and,YES also videogames, which were pretty rare in the early 80's: only the really rich kids had them at home, just like VCR's. I've pretty much seen every console/home computer system since the early 80's come and go and owned or played most of them. So let me introduce myself a little :

My big passions are genre films with a strong 60's/70's/80's horror/sci-fi genre focus , pretty much everything that's offbeat, obscure, extreme, cheesy or just solid classic but als lots of contemporary film. I'm a film nut just as much as a games nerd :rocker:

The same passion is for (obscure / retro) videogames. Growing up in The Netherlands meant that the mainstream exposure to videogames has always been much less than the US and definitely Japan, but I was lucky enough to work for one of this country's largest wholesellers/gray importers in my early teens (14-16) picking orders and packing boxes every day after school. The owner also bestowed upon me the task of reviewing Japanese import games in order to make potential sales forecasts, as the demand for import was rising... so I played a lot of really obscure Japanese games that seem forgotten these days but I have fond memories of (Magical Flying Hat Adventure or Earnest Evans anyone?). Making a meagre wage of something equiv. to $2,5 / hour at the time, I didn't care about the money... I got to play a LOT of very special games and the owner was "kind enough" to settle for some deals like "work all summervacation for a Japanese Mega CD" - which was the novelty at the time. This was right when the 16 bit wave was at it's height and pc adventure games were in the glory days. The dream system was a NEO GEO, but the games were just way to expensive (up to 800 guilders for some of the later 300 Meg titles which was equiv. to 10 snes games!) Most kids were still on NES, some on SNES or Genesis and/or C64 / Amiga, 386 PC or the odd one with an MSX 2. There was no internet and EGM or Nintendo Power were "holy grails" for info on games we would NEVER see in our stores. There was no scene in the part wehere I lived. Most kids were into the mainstream , if at all. Lots of games came to Europe much later than US or never at all, but with the aid of "converters" or sometimes a PCB mod (in the case of the Megadrive) we were able to play the imports. I remember getiing a US SNES because it played fullscreen instead of the PAL black bars but it had to be modded first...
This afterschool job enabled me to play NEO GEO AES, PC Engine, Mega CD/Wondermega, Turbo -GT, Japanese SNES, US-only SNES, even Jaguar and 3DO; games and systems that were very obscure around these shores and many a myth persevered about in the schoolyards at the time. It is of this period in my life that I have the fondest gaming memories. Of course, I went on and owned every console after that and bought many of the "old" ones which I could finally afford when I got a proper job many years later. I finally got a Japanese NEO GEO AES a few years back which made my retro dreams complete :)

But still, the SNES remains as my favourite game system ever. My fondest gaming memories stem from that system. I have been on gaming hiatus several times but lately been pretty much grasping back to the oldschool (to me : late 8-bit/16-bit) partially because the new games and systems kind of bore me but also due to the fact that some classic series are still alive through PSX, PS2, PSP and DS anthologies that keep the "flame burning" so to speak and have rekindled the old vibe.

Good to have discovered this forum! From lurking around it seems like you guys rule and I'll feel right at home here. And sorry for the longish intro and getting all nostalgic..... :)

Hello, my name is Tom and I work for a Museum in the UK collecting videogames! This includes hardware, software, magazines, marketing material and original design documents. Personally I grew up playing ZX Spectrum so have fond memories of Dizzy, Skool Daze, Chuckie Egg 2 etc...

Is there a Marketplace on this forum? I'm trying to find a certain item for an exhibition.

Thanks

Howdy,

This is Aaron, Age 18, from Texas in the United States. Lurked here awhile first found out about the place from one of AVGNs videos. I recently dug out my old NES (Action Set, Original Box and everything lol) and SNES (And Bought a Top Loader NES for $30 :p) to start collecting and just to play some good games as there aren't as many truly good games coming out nowadays.

Hello My Name is Kenny I Am 18 Years old Im originally From Maui, Hawaii But I Currently Live in San Jose, California

First things first since I usually get told "WOW how do you really know this much about classic gaming at this age"

From being a Child my first memory was playing Super Mario Bros. Now this was when i was like 2.
Even though at first i always fell in the first hole i started to get better and continued to play.
It helped me in life. I would say that was my first real big experience problem solving. Which also got me into Preschool Early as well
[I was Bright, Friendly and Talked ALOT I have adhd on top of it lol]

Now my family was always low on money my mom got me what she could but i still ended up playing alot of shit games [one of the reasons i like AVGN so much of course] But my mind just got more and more hungry for games so I started Trading which i fell in Love with in a Sense [Screw Renting lol]

Now fast foward to my 7th birthday I got a nintendo 64 from my dad. I still love the system But now looking back i feel kinda bad I didnt get a SNES next and get to experience that [friends had one] but now I have one too :D

So the next year on my 8th Birthday I started going out for work stuff like Lawn Mowing and a Paper Route.
The money i earned actually got me started on collecting games and thats when we first got Internet [I use it alot before hand at school]

So I built up a big collection by the time I was 12. But some one broke in one day and stole all the good stuff all I pretty much have left now from those days is my N64 [They Stole a atari 5200, genesis, original gameboy and my 3 NES systems]

So after reading for years and years about rare games and collecting I am ready to get back into it again.

So here I am. Nice to Meet you all and to be Associated with such a Awesome Collective of People

My name is Colin, and I've been gaming since the mid 80s when I got an Amstrad CPC 664. I did a lot of spectrum gaming back then as well, and I still play both amstrad and Speccy emulators fairly frequently. Favourite games from back then include Starquake, Sorcery+, Knightlore and 3d Starstrike. The first and second consoles largely passed me by - just the age I was I think, but I got back into PC gaming in 1998 with Tie Fighter and Freespace 2.

Now I'm an xbox gamer. Currently playing MW2 and Red Dead Redemption. Nice to be here.

Colinoid.

Hey. I'm Stacey, I'm 18 years old and I'm from Wales. I found this forum when I googled horror games for the Sega Megadrive and I found a thread on this forum.

I have a lot of games I like so I won't list them all but I'll list the ones I play the most they are: Megaman, Pokémon, Resident Evil, Sonic the Hedgehog and the Mario series. I haven't started collecting games for systems yet, my lack of a job means I'm broke most of the time. xD

I'm a college student studying childcare even though I want to work in the video games industry. =\ Completing this course will make getting a job a little easier, I have plenty of time to go to university. xD

I got into video gaming when I was about 4 years old when my grandfather bought me a snes, I've been playing games since then.

So, that's me. =)

Hey Pete from Minnesota.

I've been gaming most of my life (34 years).

I started with a 2600 as a kid and moved up to a C64, then an NES, then a Genesis/Sega CD and a Game Gear....Girls.....Nintendo 64...then more girls...Then a Dreamcast...Marriage, Kids....Xbox....Then Xbox360.

I remember Buying a Sega CD the day it came out and I had saved my money all summer long, It seemed so awesome at the time.

Now, I'd like to revive those memories and am trying to get back all those games and sytems I sold at garage sale for next to nothing. Man, those prices have gone up!

Now I have back a NES, Genesis, Game Gear, SNES (never had one before), Xbox and Xbox 360. I'd love a Sega CD now, but I have to take on this collection slowly....So the Mrs. doesn't get too worried about finances.

Hey all, I'm Tim from Charlotte, NC.

I started collecting about 2 years ago or so. I collect what I feel like at any given time. I probably found this site by searching for something and going off on a tangent. I've been browsing the forums and using the guide for a couple months now. I figured I would make an account because I'll probably have something to say soon or later.

Yes, it is true.

OK, not that self centered.

Just wanted to say I think this site is AWESOME. Recently began collecting games after my friend got me a copy of FF7 black label for PS1...Part of my collection now incloudes every FF, 1-13, including tactics, all black label.

My day job is working for as an Editor for an online news site in Chicago.

Something interesting: two of my uncles owned a video store and they would rent NES and, eventually, SNES games. My cousin and I were pretty spoiled with games as a result. However, I've played my share of crap that's covered on AVGN.

Yea, really into collecting RPGs for PS1, NES and SNES. Some PS2. And one more thing, I'm usually alone on this one, but I think Fire Emblem for Cube and Wii is the BEST STRATEGY RPG ever!

Hey guys, from Canada here, just recently starting collecting for SNES. I also game on the 360, PSP, PC, and GP2X Wiz. I've got a GBC, but just Pokemon Gold, and I barely use it. I've got around 25 360 games, 15 SNES games, and a few PSP games.
The Wiz is cool as it's got all the emulators I need and it's fairly small and portable. I also like how I can transfer my X-Com save from the PC to the build on the Wiz and play it on the go. Neat little unit.
Some of my favourite games are Fallout 3 (360), Skate 3 (360), Civ series (PC), X-Com (PC), NetHack (PC), FF3 (SNES), Seiken Densetsu 3 (SNES), Super Metroid/Prime series (SNES/GC), Super Mario World/Allstars (SNES), and Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past (SNES).
I plan to keep my SNES for as long as I can, and want to build a complete collection someday.. have already purchased some repro's as well.

New here. Been lurking since early 2008, seriously. Figured it was about time to try to contribute.
I'm into collecting consoles mostly (58 +/- according to my excel spreadsheet), but have aquired quite a few games as well.

I started with an Intellivision, back when they were new (remember going to Kmart to pick it out). Still have that unit and all the games I had growing up. I took a console hiatus and went to PC gaming, which was WAY expensive back in the double 3dfx days. Got out of the PC biz and back into consoles which is where I am now.

Hey, I'm Nathan from the D/FW area in Texas. Found the forums through a friend of mine who suggested I should check out the site when I was telling him about me and my girlfriend starting to collect older games and systems. My absolute favorite games are the original Metal Gear and Snake's Revenge for the NES. I don't know how many hours I suffered through those. I'm also partial to Adventures of Link, and am happy to claim that I did in fact beat it.

We (Amy and I) have mainly been working to get a collection of all the popular systems. So far, we have a Super Pong, a 2600, an Atari 800XL, NES, SNES, N64, Wii, original Game Boy, Genesis, Game Gear, Sega CD, Saturn, Dreamcast, PSX, PSOne, PS2, and a 360. Almost all of them are hooked up, and all of them work (the 800XL needs a new power brick). Right now we're missing a Gamecube, original Xbox (burned mine up in Qatar. American power supplies don't like 220V, apparently), and a Commodore 64. I think we'll call it quits after that, though I'd love to have a Lynx.

Our latest acquisition has been a mint Sharp Nintendo Television (minus remote/gamepads), which we consider extremely lucky to have found ($30 at a flea market in Kentucky!).

I'm really interested in building up a complete(ish) Sega CD library, since it seems to be one of the really overlooked systems and I'd hate to see some games go missing forever.

I'm currently attending UT Dallas and pursuing a degree in Arts and Technology, looking at 3D Animation/modelling and hoping to find a stepping stone into the gaming industry (yeah, right). Before this I was a combat photographer in the Army, and deployed to Iraq, Qatar, and Afghanistan.

That's me, in a nutshell. :)

I'd like to start a topic about my collection Guiness World Records also accepted my claim so who knows how things will take place from this point.

Hope to enjoy this place 8-)

My name is Don. I live in Chicago, I'm a file clerk and part time grant writer. I've been collecting games for well over a decade. For several years I didn't realize I was collecting, I was just getting games that I liked. Then one day I looked up and I had a pretty respectable collection going. I don't collect for any one specific system, I am actually more in the habit of collecting different consoles than carts. I just love to play them. I had been meaning to join a community of like-minded collectors for some time and just hadn't gotten around to it. Yesterday, I was making an inventory sheet of my systems and noticed I didn't know what variant my trusty old Intellivision was. After extensive research I discovered that I had been playing Frogger on a true gem. I actually have a World Book Tutor Vision. I will have pics up here ASAP. If you don't know what it is; http://www.tripoint.org/tutor/tutor.html. (http://www.tripoint.org/tutor/tutor.html).
I've been using it for years. I believe mine is only the second to be discovered in the world. I decided to come here, not to brag, (well, maybe to share my news with people who would also appreciate it) but to make its presence known to the collector community at large and see if anyone has any info about this rare console. The link I posted above seems to be the only bit of info anyone has on it.

I look forward to making some new friends here and hopefully enriching the collective knowledge about classic games in general.

Don

I am a longtime lurker, have had an account for awhile but never used it. I am a collector (currently Sega CD FMV games, didn't say I collected the best of the best), been in gaming since I was about 5 or so when I played Maze Craze with my dad on the 2600 (he didn't realize what he was starting). I have recently returned to collecting Sega Genesis games (picked up Shining in the Darkness for cheap and was extremely happy).

I have interviewed some great people in magazines/gaming (Ralph Baer, Bill Kunkel, Michael Thomason and many more) and am proud to call them my friends. I have helped in changing magazine preservation for the better and continue to do so now.

I am a loudmouth so you will be seeing a lot of me, hopefully I won't wear out my welcome anytime soon. If anyone has anything they would like to know about me, just ask.

Hello everyone, My name is Max. I am a 27 male and I work for the Air Force. I live on the East coast of Virginia where I hate it, but I can't complain at the decent finds I have added to my collection here. My first experience with video games was an atari on which I played pitfall and asteroids to much delight.

My first video game I ever owned was Ms. Pac Man for Atari 2600 I got for christmas and I have been in love with video games since. I admit that I have only recently made collecting video games my hobby, but I am enjoying it so very much. I collect only games that I love already or want to try out. The only restriction I put on if a game can become part of my collection is if it is playable.

I really like this board so far and hope I can become a worthwhile part of it. See you around!

Hello fellows.

I Collect mainly carts for Genesis and NES, but I've also got a reasonable stash of SNES and PS2 games. That's about it though. At times I will not play a single game for months and then without warning I will suddenly become a mad fiend who spends superhuman amounts of time playing a certain game or two, literally to the point of falling asleep with the controller in my hands drooling into my lap.

My friends would say that I'm weird, and I sometimes have a giant beard, but I am not to be feared!

Anyhow- a late hello. I like reading all of you guy's little quarrels and juicy knowledge tidbits. I'll be around...:monkey:

- I live in the united states, NJ

- I found the forums by someone referring me here.

- Favorite game of ALL TIME is Xenosaga series... OMG, can't say that it wasn't smart. I loved how it truly did not try to act dumb and challenged with its deep storyline.

Into all sort of games, as long as they are fun.

-Mainly Ps2, DS, and PS3. But, I do haver every system except for teh xbox systems, the atari, and the dreamcast.

- In real life I am also working to be in the game industry. Going to go indie for a bit as I like to do my own thing, for now anyway.

- Collecting began with Xenosaga... Can't really think of anything else right now, but I want to go play Xenosaga now... LOL.

Hi, I'm Dan from the UK (St Albans to be specific)

I used to have an account here years ago but can't remember the password or even the email address I used to sign up with so it looks like I get a fresh start. I had only signed in once since 2006 anyway so maybe it's appropriate I start again.

The last things I remember were sending THATinkjar a Saturn Mod-Chip, and if I remember correctly the DP store had just opened.

So how has everyone been? Anything "big" happened within the scene? I've been away concentrating on life as a computer hardware engineer and have really been slacking when it comes to this hobby. That shall change however! :)

Where you live: I live in Virginia, originally from Washington State though. I miss it alot, Virginia is lammmmmeeeee!

How you found the forums: A buddy of mine who is also on these forums introduced me actually. We are rare game hunters!.

What your favorite games are: That's a tough one, as there are so many. I love all types of RPG games. Right now I would have to say Suikoden 2, The Final Fantasy Series, Castlevania, Fallout, Ratchet and Clank games (Guilty Pleasure), Left 4 Dead titles, Wild Arms, Star Ocean, stuff like that.

What systems you collect for: Anything really. Well after the mid 80's actually. I am recently collecting for the PSone era, PS2, N64, SNES, and NES games and systems. Playstation and Super Nintendo being my my favored systems.

What you do in "real life": I am an F-15 Fighter Jet Crew Chief.

Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc: Basically I started collecting because I started remembering the old games I used to play with my friends and stuff. It made me happy to think back to better times, So I started collecting. As it turns out, many of the games I used to play when I was younger are some of the most rare ones now haha, Go figure.

I'd also like to say thank you for everyone's kindness. This forum seems pretty awesome and I am glad that I have found so many others that share my interest in games and collecting. Yo!

- What your favorite games are: I love platformers, racing games, and fighting games. My top 3 games of all time are Donkey Kong Country (SNES), Crash Bandicoot 2 (PS1), and Tekken 2 (PS1)
- What systems you collect for: Any system, it depends on what I can find. I have 18 (different) systems.
- What you do in "real life": I am in high school, but on weekends I mow the grass at a neighbors house as a job.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.: The first game system I had was given to us by my dad's cousin, it was the Super Nintendo. He later gave us a PS1. This was when I was 4, and I wasn't much of a collector. I actually had a black label Final Fantasy VII and sold it to EB Games (I think) back when it had little importance. Then one day I decided to stop selling games. I also decided that I wanted to play the ones I had missed out on. So in 2008, my game collecting started full force. I went from 8 consoles to 18 in 2 years, and went from about 150 games to 500 in the same 2 years. My collecting will never stop.

Hi, I'm Richard, I just turned 24, and I've been collecting console games for several months now. I live in TN in the great city of Nashville, and I heard about Digital Press through a real life friend of mine that uses the forums. I have been using the online rarity guide that is hosted here as a sort of buying guide for my collection so far. I completely forgot there was a forum in here and just decided to go ahead and sign up!

My favorite games are Fighting games, Platformers, and First-Person Shooters. I'm into Super Street Fighter 4 and Modern Warfare 2, but I still have that soft spot for older games like Frogger, Adventure Island, Crusader of Centy; basically anything fun. I'm mainly a Sega collector, but I'll collect anything video game related. I own 16 game systems and around 700 games for them total, with my Genesis collection itself clocking in at 301 CIB games for the system by itself. I just recently got into arcade machines in a big way, kind of expanding the collection out to include the stand up machines.

Great to be here, and nice to meet you guys.

- What systems you collect for:a few very select SNES and GENESIS titles but mostly NES I just started about a month ago but have amassed 160 NES titles so far.. I plan on acquiring a full collection of titles released during the systems lifetime.(sorry cheetamen 2) minus Stadium Events and Bubble Bath babes unless I can make a very lucky find (they will have repro placeholders)
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc. : I am pretty good at fixing non-working electronics and putting them back together with new and interesting flaws.... in I also have a 2player mame machine and 2 pinballs

Hi everyone,

My name is Brian and I'm 36 years old from Connecticut. I discovered Digital Press about 7 years ago, but never signed up for the forums. No time like the present, right?

I'm an electrical engineer with a regular day job and I tinker with arcade games, pinball machines, and gaming consoles as a hobby. I'm also in a band called Yellow 9, you can check it out at www.yellow9.com (we are also on myspace and facebook).

I've been over at the atariage forum for awhile and I'm always looking to add to my gameroom in the basement. The Digital Press guides have sure come in handy. I look forward to meeting people here in the forum.

Thanks!
Brian

Hello everyone,

My name is Michael. I'm originally from the Twin Cities, but I currently reside in Japan. I live in a city called Hamamatsu, which is located in Shizuoka prefecture and is about 1.5 hours away from Tokyo.

I recently found digitpress while scouring the internet for information on import games. Since moving to Japan, I've been slowly amassing a collection of imports, or more specifically, games that were released only in Japan and never saw an official release stateside. The collection is just starting to get fairly respectable, so I thought it might be time to start sharing information about what I've been able to find during my time in Japan, and hopefully, at the same time get some more information about games I should keep an eye out during the duration of my stay.

What are my favorite games?? Wow! That's tough. I mean, I started out on an Atari and shortly thereafter moved on to the NES and SNES, so a lot of my most memorable gaming moments are from those three systems. I'm truly a classic gamer at heart, but I also fully embrace and support all facets of the gaming world.

While I was back in the states I was mostly collecting for the NES, SNES, PS1, PS2, and Game Cube, but now it's strictly Japanese games. I'm currently collecting for the Famicom, Super Famicom, Saturn, Dreamcast, PC Engine, PS1, PS2, Xbox 360, and occasionally I might pick something up for my PSP, DS, and GBA. I really try and stick to things I can only find in Japan, but occasionally I'll stray from the path and buy the Japanese version of something I already own back home. For example, something justifiably unique like the Japanese version of "Ico," which has extra game play elements not present in the US version. Something like that. Also, my favorite genres are probably shoot-em'-up, and fighting, so I own quite a few games in just those two genres alone. Some of my current favorites are Mushihimesama (PS2), Ketsui (xbox360), Zero Gunner 2 (DC), Battle Garegga (SS), Virtua Figher 2 (PS2), Hokuto no Ken (PS2), and basically any Street Fighter game (multiple platforms).

In "real" life, I'm a high school teacher. Or at least until my school loans are all paid off. Then it's most likely back to school=P

Hmmm... what else should I say about myself. I tend to spread myself out in terms of hobbies, which is sometimes a very bad thing because I'll end up neglecting something I love to do for a very long time. I've been skateboarding and snowboarding since I was in grade school and while it's not as easy to do in the area which I live in, I try and get out as much as possible. Cycling is another one. I don't own a car in Japan, so I use my bike pretty much everyday. Traveling is another thing I'm pretty passionate about. I've been using most of my vacation time to travel around and see as much of Asia as possible. So far I've managed to visit Korea, China, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Australia. Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and India are on the shortlist of places I wanna go next. I'm also a pretty big sports fan, too. Twins, Vikings, and Wild all the way!! Timberwolves, not so much=P Go Minnesota!

Well, that about does it. If anyone is up for chatting about imports from Japan, I'm all ears!! You'll most likely find me hanging out in Import-mania from here on out!!

- How you found the forums
Stumbled upon them while googling something or other on collecting.

- What systems you collect for
My collections are small change compared to many I have seen on the boards, but my main areas would be Nintendo 64 CIB, plus N64 imports. My wife and I also are starting to build an NES collection, cartridge only.

We have a top loading NES, classic NES, Genesis 3, original GameBoy, GBA, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, XBox 360, DS, and Wii. We also have a SNES, but it's sitting in the garage collecting dust.

I still have most of the games I originally bought (in other words, most of my collection is "original owner"), though I am starting to sell some of my games (including my CIB N64 games). So, while I enjoy collecting, I am also looking to keep things in moderation.

Name: Adam
Age: 27 (until next month)
Location: Connecticut
How I found this site: I typed in "retro gaming forums" in google

The consoles I own: SNES (3 of them), Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, Wii, XBOX 360, Dreamcast, Gameboy, GBA, PS2, and I believe that's it. Next weekend I'm getting a Mortal Kombat 2 arcade machine, with a board to change out for MK3.

I'm a moderate collector. If I see a good deal on something, I'm going to buy it. I don't buy for the price value or to say "I have that". Well, some things I do have to say "I have it", but meh. I use to have a few classic NES's, but I have no idea what happened to them. I have a few (about 5 to 10) NES games that I'd love to play on the original hardware (Mario 3, Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy), though since I can't, I have the remakes of Final Fantasy 1 (as well as on the Wii VC). The newest to my collections (as of this afternoon) are the Sega Saturn (paid $50 for the console, 2 controllers, 2 guns, 11 games and the hookups), a Nintendo 64 ($20 for 2 controllers, the hookups, expansion pack and a controller pack), and 4 N64 games for $20 - Golden Eye (in box), Majora's Mask (collectors edition, in box), Donkey Kong 64 (in box) and Mario 64 (not in box - assuming it's the one that came with the console, or the owner lost the box).

I'm a strange type of gamer from all of my friends. My friends play a lot of sports/racing games, where I play a lot of role playing games, action/scrollers, and rhthmn games (guitar hero, rock band, and dj hero).

Most of the stuff I have for my collection range from moderately rare to pretty common. I use to have one really rare piece of hardware for the SNES called the Super Wildcard FX, but I sold it to a friend of mine who still has it. For those of you who don't know, it's a device that allows you to dump your cartridge onto a floppy disk, as well as play from a floppy disk. Interesting device.

My most prized item in my collection is my Super Nintendo with the RPG's I own for it - Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 3, Secret of Mana, and Zelda. I might have a few more, but I'm not quite sure what they are off the top of my head.

My hobbies include (aside from gaming): playing guitar, writing (wrote a novel that I never let anyone read, lyrics for the bands I was in, and in the process of writing my first screen play that will be a locally shot and independently financed and filmed project with a few friends), drawing (paper/pencil as well as digital - I have a Wacom tablet that I can draw with in photoshop, which I prefer over paper/pencil because if I mess up or just don't like the drawing, it doesn't waste paper, though I'm doing more pencil sketches now), photography (nothing major, just some scenic things), and my website.

Anyways, that's all for now

- Who you are
I'm Daniel, otherwise known as Cesque everywhere on the internet - I'm 15 years old, although it's less than a month until I'm 16. Then I'm getting a debit card and buying things online will be so much easier!

- Where you live
I live in Birmingham, England.

- How you found the forums
I just checked my browsing history - I only found DP last night - and it appears that I suddenly really wanted to buy a Famicom. Then somehow I got onto looking at the rarest NES games, which then led me here. I have no idea how that works, but I'm glad it did.

- What your favorite games are
Honestly, I have no idea. The game I've spent most time on is definitely Team Fortress 2 - the one current gen non-wii game I play. I loved Mother 3, so much so that I actually finished it, which I never do with RPGs. The Rhythm Tengoku series, too. And probably some others, which I'm missing. My tastes change a lot :P

- What systems you collect for
None, yet - I just snatch up anything which looks cool. I don't really have enough money to properly collect.

- What you do in "real life"
Real life?
I just go to school in the day and then sit on my computer in the evening :)

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I started with chiptunes, about 2 years ago. Had a couple of Gameboys, LSDJ carts. The my sister got me a SNES for Christmas, which I played for a bit then didn't touch for the majority of a year. Now I somehow have a load of stuff, and I'm not sure how that happened O.o I guess I blame car boot sales, and that one retro game shop in Sutton :P

Edit: Also, the day after I posted this, I trawled the charity shops, finding nothing but some strange game thing from 1981... I picked it up for £3. Turns out it was a Grandstand Astro Wars, which were selling for £20-£30 on eBay. I'm pretty happy about that :D

Hello Friends!

My name is Joseph and am very excited about video games! I enjoy classic 8-Bit video games such as Nintendo NES, ColecoVision, and Sega Master System, but ATARI has been and always will be my favorite video games of all time. Especially the 2600, 5200, 7800, LYNX and JAGUAR! I also like ColecoVision A LOT for the homebrew scene! There are some great new games by some wonderful programmers and they are some of the best games I've ever played! I also enjoy Super Nintendo, Genesis, Dreamcast, PlayStation 1 & 3 but not 2, and Donkey Kong. Also 8-Bit Computers. Nolan's mantra is my vision - easy to learn, difficult to master. That's how I like to play. I am also a dedicated fan of Steve Wiebe and support TEAM WIEBE and I also like Walter Day of Twin Galaxies. I hail from South Florida and right now I live in Naples.

I also really love learning about video game history and sharing my passion and knowledge of Atari History with others. Knowledge is like a candle light, you can pass it on by lighting other people's candles and giving them light. Thats what I like to think. Atari history is important to me and I think it should be passed on. And that is why I have dedicated my life's work to preserving the history of Atari, creating awareness and promoting the hobby.

I have been creating my own Atari web pages for many years with my first page going up in January 1995. And I am working on my newest and greatest web page. I found DP many years ago and have been coming for maybe 10 years now and reading what everyone has to say but now I am getting serious about posting. I would like to talk with old friends, meet new friends, and feel the positive energy of the Atari community to get new ideas and things that will make my next website the best ever. Thank you.

Your Friend,
Atari Joe

Hello all,

My name is Jason and I was born, raised and still live in San Diego, CA.

I've known about DP for a long time, but have only just joined the forums after finding the answer I was looking for on these forums (the question: What kind of bit do I need to open up a PC Engine DUO-R? the answer: Torx Security #10).

Some of my favorite games are Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Mother 3, Shenmue - I'm leaving way too many out and can't pick just one.

I collect games a for all of the consoles and handhelds that I own. I own somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 distinct consoles and handhelds, upward of 30 if you count variants. I'm currently focusing on my Saturn, PC Engine and SNES collections.

In real life, I am a software developer.

I've been playing games since the early 80s, starting out with an Atari 2600. I kept a number of games from my childhood as a matter of course, but I officially started collecting in the late 90s with the advent of eBay and the availability of a certain boxed Sega Master System.

I'm glad to have signed onto these forums and hope that I can learn a lot here, as well as contribute any knowledge that I have acquired over the years.
