We've all got our milestones, whether it be "game number 1000", "complete collection x", "obtain all Activision cartridges", etc.

Each time you reach a milestone this year, enter it into this thread. It should be fun to check back in a year later to see what kind of progress we all made.

Who wants to go first? I haven't hit a milestone in awhile but I've got a few coming soon :)

I've reached a few milestones so far this year. Well, I s'pose you could call them milestones. I do anyway.

I reached 1000 unique games for my collection just a few days ago. Another milestone would be me FINALLY buying a Genesis after all these years. Never thought I'd ever own one, but I'm glad I finally do. A third milestone would be getting my very first Sega Master System game... which is Sonic the Hedgehog from some other country that's not the U.S. That may not be a milestone to some, but to me, it's a big deal.

Here's to another successful year of gaming full of rare finds, quality imports, and two new Metroid games!

Reached 500 games a few days ago. Can't find the receipts to figure out which random PSX game it was, but I made it.

Only 19 more games to go until I reach 100 Genesis games.

Then i'll sell all the games I really don't want.

Also, to find a working copy of Pirates Gold!.

I found one last year, but after I brought it home, I realized that it was an empty cart.

As far as recently, I guess finally aquiring all the released Laseractive hardware would be a milestone.

I'm less than 45 games away from 4,000 total. Seeing how I missed all the other milestones (1k, 2k, 3k,) I am very psyched about NOT missing this one.

...

Does sitting through an entire JB Harold Murder game count? LOL

MILESTONE #1
Picked up a handful of VCS commons (to celebrate me re-arranging my games room this past weekend) which put me over 100 for the system (107 to be exact). That's my first 100+ game system.

MILESTONE #2
....to be determined....

I haven't reached any milestones yet but some I hope to try for...

Complete set of Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine
200 SNES games (I think I'm only about a dozen away from this)
200 PS1 games (might not reach this in 2004 as I need over 60)
100 Dreamcast Games (about 2 dozen away)
...and buy an Xbox...maybe...

I reached 1000 unique games. I dont know what # 1000 was but most likley a Genesis game.

I also reached over 400 boxed Genesis games. I hope to be over 600 Genesis games by the end of the year.

I am at about 500 different games, about half of them boxed (this does not include variations and what not.... with those, its more around 530. I hope to keep getting boxes and instructions for games i already have that need these. That's about it

I don't have any so far this year, so I'll just put down some goals:

1. 150 unique SNES games...about 90 now
2. 75 unique Genesis games...about 30 now
3. 100 unique 2600 games...about 50 now
4. Complete my 32X collection
5. Get a SMS, DC, TG-16, and Intellivision

and just add on to everything else in my collection and make more of the room game oriented

I want to get 400 NES games. I wrote a list of around 60 titles that I wanted to get this year--if I can get all of them, I'll be close to reaching my goal for the year.

Got my very first games for a system I don't even own. Ecco the Dolphin for the Sega CD and King's Quest IV for...some sort of old computer, or something.

Also rearranged the game room so it looks much nicer. True sign of geekdom: "Hmm...Would "Legend of Zelda" go under L or Z?"

Also rearranged the game room so it looks much nicer. True sign of geekdom: "Hmm...Would "Legend of Zelda" go under L or Z?"My first game for a system I didn't own yet was the Saturn 3-Pack. The Saturn didn't arrive for over a month after.

Anyway, I begrudgingly file the two Zelda's and other games under the first letter of the entire title, sand the word "The".

The Legend of Zelda is L.
The Adventure of Link is A.
Bart vs. the Space Mutants is under S because it's actually under "Simpsons".
But Krusty's Fun House is under K because it actually ends with "Starring The Simpsons".
Then Startropics is under S while the sequel is under Z for "Zoda's Revenge: The Story of Startropics II".

I could go all out and put all Zelda games under Z, all Simpsons under S, etc, but I wanna be correct. And order them the same way my listings order them. Damn the game creators for naming their games so differently!

Organization was my first milestone of the year. Nearly all of my games are now on some sort of a shelf or stacker, and all my systems (save the non-working RCA Studio II) are now hooked up and ready to go.

The previously mentioned kind of an alphabetizing mess is why I organize my NES carts first by distributor (Nintendo, Konami, SNK, etc.), then age. Which means that the black-label Nintendo releases come first, followed by the silver-label ones, then the rest. Konami's silver labels are first, then the rest. Data East carts are all together, black-label LJN carts are together, Tengen carts are together, etc, etc.

This system works a lot better with my Genesis and Master System carts, the majority of which are boxed. White SMS boxes are first, in age order (which I check via the last five main digits of the UPC codes). Then comes my sole Activision SMS game (Rampage, baby!) in its red box. Then the Genesis row starts with the early black-grid boxes, then the later ones, then moves on to the later red-stripe style. Then the EA cardboard boxes, then the EA oversize, then the Accolade/Ballistic cardboard...whoo! I didn't realize how tedious that actually is! @_@

They look much better on the shelf that way, though.

Next milestone: Getting all or most of the earliest NES carts and peripherals that I can, from 1985-1987 or so. (Save for Stadium Events, which I'll happily deny the existence of. )

After that: Building up the SNES collection, though I really don't want to shell out what I think it's going to cost to get the good stuff. Hopefully I'll get lucky this summer...

Well well...it has been quite a year for me.

1. I not only got to be featured in Tips & Tricks Mag(Jan 04), but also got to be featured in Video Game Collector #1.

2. Topped 3600 different games as of late, with 45+different systems

3. Down to 8 games for my US Nes set, half of them are complete

4. Acqired Powerlords for my Odyssey 2 set, 6 more and I have them all for a US set!

5. I have a boxed and complete US 32X set!

6. Down to the final 15 for Sega CD!

7. Acquired two Astrocade protos, Galaxian and "Solar"

Well last night i in a sense hit two milestones...

First i pushed 400 PSOne games. I went on a cheapie weird game spree and came out with 9 games from 3 stores costing about 30 bucks... pushing me to 403 PSOne games and 1/3rd of the way to a full NTSC-U library!

and the second which isnt really as much of a milestone as much as it was a finally found it, The insert to Mega Man 8 Collectors Anniversary Edition... which has been a thorn in my side for far to long....

The Adventure of Link is A.

I've always filed The Adventure of Link under Z, for Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

Milestone for me is getting organized. Got my entire collection cataloged, found a decent storage solution, and narrowed my collection to only handheld/portable devices. Looking forward to a good year.

I haven't gone on any Collecting runs in a while. I just haven't been able to get into it lately. Which is good. There have been severe cutbacks at work, and I'm down to only a few days a week. So I have to save money.

So I'm only going for what I really want. Animal Crossing is my latest and hopefully will keep me occupied. Of course, I'll have to make another NES/Genesis/DC/etc run before GS really does get rid of the games.

I even had to hold off buying that Famicom SP I so really wanted. And not just because the Importers raised the prices because of Nintendo's newest boneheaded move.

-Top secret project
-Level 3 Orange

4,002 games in the library. 4,000th was (if you count down the register receipt) would be Battle Arena Toshinden 1 (Not for Resale version). A rather honorable choice considering I am 43 away from the entire PSX US library. Yay!

Completed my NES collection tonight...at least in terms of carts. As an NWC cart, Stadium Events or any of the 3 Panesian games will likely only enter my collection if I find them in the wild, I have probably added the last domestically released NES title I didn't have to my collection.

The last game I needed was Romance of the 3 Kingdoms II, so I splurged on a complete copy and won it on Ebay tonight (go out in style, I guess). I'll still be looking for books and boxes, as I'm currently just under 500 for both, but unless I hit the jackpot, any future NES acquisitions will only be going to the tradebox.

Satisfying :) ...but at the same time, just a little sad. :(

My first 2004 milestone, though trivial, is also pretty unusual. I completed my Sega Pico collection on Friday.

http://www.digitpress.com/images/picoThat's not trivial to me. I've been meaning and wanting to start a Pico collection. I currently have no funds to fund a collection like that, but when I do, I'll start on the Pico if only just to brighten up the shelves and make people say, "Whoa... what the hell are those?" "Sega made that?" "I had that as a kid!" "Whatis that? Some sort of Leap Pad?"

The only thing I'm working on in my collection right now is to get back a copy of all the Atari 2600 games I had as a kid. I'm doing this by hazy memories...but I think I've got the list correct.

And, I am just 6 carts away.

Atari Video Cube
Harbor Escape
Artillery Duel (single ender) - I have a double ender, but I'm trying to be correct about this :)
Pooyan
Skiing
Tron Deadly Discs

and I need a better copy of Fire Fly. :)

If I get this done, I'll put up a picture...the Atari 2600 was the system I cut my teeth on, and the games I had then are still my favorites...and I want them all back. I want this done more than you know.

I'm also going to work on shifting the focus of my collection. Basically, I don't want my collection to get much bigger. 1,300-1,400 games is enough...I'm happy with it.

But, I have a lot of games I don't like very much. It's the price you pay for buying everything you find I guess...so I'm going through and playing most of my games, those I don't like, are going to be traded away (hopefully) for stuff I want. You'll know when I'm ready...

This is actually a hard decision for me...I loive video game collecting, but I don't do enough playing...probably because I don't enjoy much of what I actually have.

I have decided that I'm not going for any major complete collections...so it's time to vote out the weakest links in my collection :)

I hit a kind of a milestone last saturday. I managed to find my first ever game.com games. I've had the system for about a year or two , but this was the first time i ever found any of the games , i actually found five of them , frogger , centipede , williams arcade classics , indy 500 , and jeopardy , even better , they were all mint in the box.

The other thing was that i found both the system and the games at KB toy stores.

Ok so my milestone is kinda a crock compared to most of the ones in this thread , but hey , its progress for me.

I couldn't stand the fact that I was sitting at 496 PSOne games for almost a week. went to EB to try and find some decent stuff. I came out with some Meh stuff, but it put me at my mark. I now have 500 PSOne games. Thats alot in its own rights, but when comparing it to the entire run, im still only at 38.97% (current count is 1283). I need 143 MORE just to hit 50%.... :eek 2:

Either way, 500 games is a milestone, and 500 for a system is its own milestone. I am proud either way.

I acquired US Dynastic Hero today, and I now own all of the official release TurboGrafx CD games. I still need Magical Chase, Bikini Girls, Hawiian Island girls (and if you want to get technical... the CD+G disc that came with the CD add-on) to own them all, but I'm still sittin' high right now. Here's hoping for no blunders on my part, no psycho bids on eBay, and a little bit of luck before the end of the year!

I swore to myself that I will get a Sega Genesis this year. Not only did I finally get one, I got it with about 7 games and a Arcade Joystick.

Another one was finally getting my hands on Dance Aerobics for the NES. Whenever one would pop up on ebay, I would always get outbid.

:D

Update on current status, for the year-to-date:

* Passed the several-hundred mark (on all systems combined) as far as individual games go. I'm not very organized yet.

* Got an Xbox, the Sega Combo Pack model (with Sega GT and JSRF). Already have about 10-12 games for it, too.

* Got a Sega Saturn from a friend, in very good shape. Came with Sonic 3D Blast, Virtua Cop 2 (disc-only, sadly) and the Stunner light gun.

* Won an Intellivision II and 20 games (some with boxes) on eBay for about $24 total. VERY happy about that purchase, assuming the console works.

* Picked up some tougher finds for the SMS - RC Grand Prix (by Seismic) and Zillion II.

* Edged several games closer to having all the original black-label NES carts. (I'm not going to hunt my ass off for Stack-Up, though.)

* Found an early-label copy of Altered Beast for the Genesis - which, easy as that should have been, was something of an ordeal.

* Stumbled upon my first 3DO games (for which I have no console yet - but then, I did the same thing with the Saturn).

* Managed to keep my 1987-vintage NES running without too many blue screen incidents - and got SMB3 working for the first time in years, after some heavy-duty cleaning.

Goals for the year:

* Buy the PS2 I've been promising myself for quite some time, so that I can really enjoy GT4 when it finally comes out.

* Find a goddamned switch box for my RCA Studio II - I'm really anxious to play a crappy game of Bowling. Don't ask me why - childhood memories, I guess.

* Complete the set of both Nintendo black-label and Konami silver-label games for the NES.

* Work on my SNES collection, which has been both neglected and pushed aside for quite a while. Don't need boxes; just need carts.

* Decide whether or not to keep the boxes for my N64 games - they take up lots of space, but they look so good on the shelf.

* Get a ColecoVision, with or without (preferably with) ADAM.

* Find a six-switch Atari 2600 for cheap - no $200 eBay "rarities" here.

* Find Alex Kidd in Shinobi World (US release) for SMS. This may end up being a lifelong goal, I fear. :o

* Complete a cross-referenced list of sports and driving games across consoles - it'll be my contribution to the DP pantheon, if you'd like. :)

There's probably more I'd like to do, but that's enough to keep me busy this summer.

Let sees the only real goal I achieved so far this year was I got my 100th GameCube game. 6 months ago I told myself I would get 110 games, and currently I am at 108. Hey, I'm only 15, so I'd say its a pretty good milestone seeing how my parents won't pay for video games anymore.

Some goals I plan on acheiving:

- Finishing off my Virtual Boy US Collection by getting Jack Bros. but also at the same time manage to get one rare Jap. Virtual Boy game.

- I would like to get 50 Game Gear games by the end of the summer.

- I would like to get the complete Jaguar collection by the end of the year.

- I would like to get 200 GameCube games by the end of the year.

- I would like to get 50 complete games Nintendo 64 games by the end of the year.

- I would like to get 100 Super Nintendo games by the end of the year.

- I would like to get a boxed Genesis 2 and a 32x, and maybe a CD by the end of the year.

I now have 70 Super Nintendo games in my collection. Why is this a milestone? Well, back in January, when I only had around 20 or so SNES games, I made a goal to get 70 games by the end of the year. Got there a lot faster than I thought.

For the record, the 70'th game was NCAA Basketball, purchased for .50 at a local pawn shop.

How many SNES games will I have by the end of the year? We'll see...

Well, funny story. The other day I passed 600 games. With a total of 601. The 600th game was Mortal Kombat 3 complete in Long Box for the PSX.

Then two days ago I am doing some sorting and I discover I missed some PSX games!

Then I go through the N64 games. Then the Genesis games.

In the end I find a total of 11 games I had MISSED in my colelction pages. In reality I had 612 games and passed 600 a few weeks before!

I dunno.. Not sure what the actual 600th was now.

Strange thing was what games I actually missed! And not just stupid forgettables, among them were Final Fantasy VII, (Which I've had for YEARS) Comix Zone, (One of my FIRST Genesis games. How I missed that one is beyond me.) then the N64 games shocked me. StarFox 64, Smash Bros! How the hell did I miss all these games!? Well, glad I went through all of them.

Oh well.. Only 88 more to number 700. I'm sure of THAT one.

I just got my 20'th PS2 game, which is Q-Ball: Billiards Master.

I've been finding quite a few games lately that were either launch titles or released early in the PS2's life for around $5 or so, including:

Smuggler's Run
Midnight Club
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Q-Ball Billiards Master
Twisted Metal: Black

I've also bought Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Midnight Club II complete for $5 each. I'm pretty sure both they were at that price due to the discs being a little scratched up. I've played both for hours with no skips or anything, so those were some really nice finds.

Next up, I'd like to get 20 PSX games (I'm currently at 16), and 10 GC games (currently have 8) by the end of the summer. And I'd like to have at least 100 SNES games by the end of the year.

Alright, I'll go. I don't have any major milestones coming up in the near future, but this time next year I should have some VERY tasty milestones. Unfortunately all of my resources are going towards things that don't really benefit the bulk of any of my collections so they're all just kinda sitting stale. However, I should have a nice payoff within 6 months at which point the collections will really start rolling in. 100th GameCube, 100th Xbox and 100th PlayStation 2 - over 40 game systems and over 1000 games will all be milestones I'm expecting to pass. Complete (or at least up to date) kiosk disc collection for Cube is something I am close to as well.

Actually, I'll consider it a milestone if I get all of my crap in one spot - failing that - a dozen spots NONE of which are on the floor. @_@ Seriously though, it should be a great 12 months for me. I can't wait to check back here.

In the midst of reorganizing my gameroom, I've been totaling up my finds from the last 4 months. They had been stacking up in random piles, but I've finally got them all entered into the gamelists on my handheld. I'm guessing I hit my goal of 4,002 unique games in 2004 by the end of May. As of today, my collection totals 4,196 games. I also completed my longbox Playstation collection. After chasing a few phantom titles, I believe there are exactly 102 longbox titles. I'll be posting a list and pics in a separate thread. If you have a longbox game that's not on the list, better come armed with pictures, or I ain't biting!

recently my local gamecrazy came across a copy of house of the dead original for saturn, so i obviously freaked out when i saw it and wanted it, but the clerk said he would have to hold it for me because there was no listing in the computer for it. so i came back next week and asked him how much it was gonna cost me, he looked around, and then whispered to me "the manager told me to give it to you free" i thought my head was gonna explode.
ever since i picked up my saturn just as it was declared officialy dead a month later, i have been looking for that game. and how sweet it is to have a mint copy handed to me for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAHHHH

I passed 300 NES Games yesterday. Since I bought about 7 at once I'm going to give the honor of 300th game to Power Punch 2 (with manual). So I've got my Wisdom Tree games done. Color Dreams is almost there. AVE is ugh. And I'm about halfway on Tengen. So my unlicensed collection is almost complete. Does anyone happen to have a link to a list of all the unlicensened NES games released in the US? I've tried doing a search on it before, but with little luck.

Completed a rough database of my game collection last week and committed it to Excel. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, if you count a few demo discs, the whole set tops out at about 400 individual games (I don't collect variants, generally, so those are all unique).

I've also got a nice big stack of game magazines needing to be cataloged (three years worth of EGM, two or three years of OPM, a complete set of Tips and Tricks Codebooks except for the latest one) and a whole pile of nice freebies gleaned from company reps over the past six years.

Before the end of the year, I wish to own a 2600 (or 7800) and maybe a ColecoVision if I can swing them both. Otherwise, I'll just settle for the DS I'm planning to get on launch day.

Neat subject. I'm starting to learn about some of the "specialty" forums on DP and I like them! I've reached a bunch of goals, none bigger than my NES cart milestone which I've dreamed about since I started collecting back in '99 :D

Reached 700 unique NES games (750 seems a lock for next year).
Reached 200 2600 games (like 230ish now)
Got my first 4 Zellers 2600 boxes
Completed my 2600 Activision standard label collection 8-)
Got my first table-top games (Turtles, Stargate, Galaxian, Galaxian 2)
Broke with my 2600/Nintendo roots and picked up (gasp!) Sega systems: SMS, Genesis, Game Gear and my most advanced system yet... a DC! 8-)
Got some notable complete VB games: Jack Bros, Water World, Nester's Funky Bowling. Hope to complete VB NA next year.

It's been a good year for me. :D

I'm just teasing by the way. I passed something that isn't really a milestone, but kind of cool today. My collection value on IGN passed 13,000. I know that's not actually what it's worth, but if I ever have a fire that's the list and value I'm going to show to my insurance company.

Sky Diver
Human Cannonball
Adventure
Video Pinball
Maze Craze
Warlords
Asteroids
Missile Command
Defender
Berzerk
Pac Man
Pitfall
Kaboom

Star Raiders

All I need is Adventure, and then maybe I will start replacing the cruddy boxes that I have. So if you see a boxed Adventure on eBay, please don't bid on it. Thank you.

WOOHOO!!!!

Finally, I got Adventure off of ebay. Thanks to everyone for not bidding on it.

Closing in on
100 NES games(1 short)
25 Genesis games(1short)
25 SNES games (4 short)
25 Systems (5 more to go)
250 games (approx 20 short)

260 different games.
Approx 282 total games.
Want to make 300 by the end of the year.
Broke almost all of those goals

I have over 100 NES games
Have 25 Genesis games
And i have over 300 games now.

I have 21 systems now.
21 SNES games

I am buying my cousins SNES stuff off of him soon so that will put me around 30 SNES games.
I also might get my grandmothers which will out me between 35-40 games.

Other smaller goals i have accomplished recently
15+ PS2 games
10 GCN games
20 Xbox games
15+ DC games
5 GBA games
And i have gotten almost 3/4 of my systems boxes.

It came down to the wire, but today I picked up my 300th Gamecube game. To put it in perspective, my 100th game was back in Feb and was Wario Ware. I kept 95% of purchases to new games under $10 and most used for under $7. There were a few more expensive additions (ie Donkey Konga, MC Groove Dance Craze being the most at $45 and $40) but my average cost per game is well under $10 a piece. Number 300 was a little of a splurge as Alien Hominid would be tough to find for under $30.

Well.. it's the first day of 2005 today.. so in a way.. the original intent of this thread is now "moot" (Hmmm.. maybe we should start a new one for 2005?).

Anyways.. I finally reached game #500 today! (See the link in my sig.) At the beginning of the year.. I just wanted to reach #365 (I figured I wanted a game to play for each day of a year.); but i really went apesh*t with my buying; and soon surpassed it.

I'm seriously thinking of scaling back for awhile, and perhaps concentrating on an "aspect" I know nothing about or own nothing of.. "memorabilia". Any suggestions on where to start? I really wanted that Klonoa "plush doll" on eBay last week.. but couldn't see myself shelling out $50+ for it (ESPECIALLY since I don't even have the game yet either.. it's a bit "spendy".). Right now.. I've got my sights set on a Vagrant Story comic book though.. it's a bit cheaper; and might make a good start.

I got an r8 on the 28th, so it still counts.

I didn't think i would make 300 by the end of 2004.
I had 310ish and after i got a package on the first and an early birthday gift from my cousin i have almost 325.

I hope to break 500 in 2K5!!
