I can't pick one favorite but I really liked the Star Wars Death Star Space Station:

I also liked the inflatable lightsaber but mine broke right away.

Legos and G.I. Joes were my two favorites and will always be dear to my heart. I feel that they balanced me out as a kid. Legos were a great way to express my creativity and GI Joes were a great way for me to wage ALL OUT WAR! Both are very important for young boys and exercises our male instincts at a young age. If the wife & I end up having boys then they will be practically required to own G.I Joes, Legos, and no game system newer than the SNES era.

I have always loved G.I. Joe, though before that I always played with Star Wars figurines.

Being a 70's kid, I'd have to say my favorite toy was the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle.
http://mondopopculture.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/70s-evel-ad.jpg
Owning one of these, by and of itself, made life worth living circa 1976.
But now, as an *ahem* "adult" father of two, I have to say that my favorite toy, i.e. - the one I think my kids get the most bang out of - would be Lego bricks. I played with them as a kid, but I never really appreciated them as much as I do now.
No love for He-Man yet? I loved the vehicles, my favorite being the Battle Ram (http://www.he-man.org/primary_sects/toys/html/collector_guides/motu_class/toy_pages/battleram.shtml).

I played the hell out of these things:
TMNT figures were probably my favorite as well. I had so many of the things. That is until I played with them outside in a leaf pile and while I left for a few minutes, my sister decided to drive through the pile with the lawn mower. Every single one of them was missing at least an arm or a leg after that. That was probably one of the saddest days of my childhood as well.

Really tough to call it, but I'm gonna go ahead and say Mighty Max. I had every one of the "Doom Zones" sets at one point in time, but I'm pretty sure the only one I still have is the hand (http://www.spectrumisgreen.com/Playsets/Mighty_Max/Doom_Zones/Hand/hand.html).
TMNT figures, LEGOs, Power Rangers, Wrestling, and Batman figures were my other staples.
Out of curiosity, did anyone else have the TMNT Submarine? I miss that...

I was and still am into building sets. I had Lego's, Erector, Kinex....
But my favorite was Construx. I still have it in the basement for my kids when they are older.
I can see it now, me to my kids.... "No, you build the car THIS way! Your messing it all up"

It'd be either 6 inch. GI Joe's, Micro Machines, or Legos. All were really fun.

I loved the Evil Knievel Stunt Cycle!
I loved Legos as a kid, and still do. In fact, I was (re-)putting together one of my son's Lego sets just about 45 minutes ago! A friend's next-door neighbor had a long, straight driveway that ran from the street all the way to the back of his backyard. My friend and I would frequently spend a little while in his room assembling Lego cars approximately 1' long. We'd then go out to this long driveway, each at opposite ends, and roll our cars into each other as fast as we could, seeing whose car lasted the longest before the repeated head-on collisions destroyed it. My sleek, sloped and pointy frontends nearly always vanquished his rolling bricks! Either I'd end up cutting through his cars, or else his cars would hit mine like a ramp, and go flying into the air, shattering upon finally landing on the pavement.
I also loved Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. (And loved taking them to our backyard patio with a hammer, and whaling into them.)
ANd, truth be told, my favorite toys as a kid were probably video games. We had a really cool Pong set, a friend had an Astrocade, and I got a VCS, probably in '79 if I had to guess.
Lastly, I never had one and it probably would have proved to be boring after a few minutes, but I always wanted a Big Trak and the Big Trak tractor attachment. That thing looked really, really cool.

Always loved the Nerf dart guns lots of fun. Besides that I had fun with the Ghost Busters HQ building and will always have a fond memory of my Incredible Crash Dummies velcro arm/leg/head doll thing.

I was all about the TMNT figures. I loved the variety of the characters and the attention to detail in the sculpts. They were also bigger than GI Joes and Star Wars figures, which I always found a little too small to play with outside in forts made of upside down bikes.

My favorite toy from when I really young was the He-Man vehicle with the wheel things that flip over. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or am I imagining it? I can't find a picture and don't remember what it's called.
I also liked sky commander toys. We had monkey bars in our back yard and I'd have that thing all completely strung up with the strings for the little guys to slide down.

This thing:

I was obsessed with these toy robots. Most of them were from a chinese company called New Bright, which I believe is still in business today, though not in the robot trade anymore. I've still got most of them, but not many still work. As I grew out of "toys," the robot obsession shifted to Mega Man.

Hot Wheels (and other 1/64 diecast cars) and Legos. I used to have a lot of TMNT figures, playsets, and vehicles back in the day.
Here's a good site with photos and info on nearly every Playmates TMNT toy from 1988 through 1997:

My thing when it came to toys years ago was Hot Wheels. I had hundreds of them, though my favorite by far was my emerald green Dodge Viper, though the Sharkmobile (The car that looked like a shark) was a close 2nd.
Hmmm...where's the Go-Bots love at? Not sayin' I enjoyed those more than my Transformers, but they were played the hell with :) Oh, and I still play with my Nerf Indoor Golf set that I won off eBay a couple of years ago.

TMNT pizza thrower. I used to set up all of my figures in the hall and then shoot them down. That never really seemed to get old.

Nerf Arrowstorm. THE weapon to have in a Nerf war, and I was usually the only kid to have one.

For a long time my favorite toys were Zoids. They were like mechanical wind-up dinosaurs that you had to assemble. I just searched Google and it looks like the ones out now are a lot more complicated than the ones I put together back in the day.
I also really liked Capsela, because you could build stuff that really worked with a real motor and battery and everything. I built a lot of boats and cars and pulley systems for stuff, even a thing that would turn my bedroom light off and on from across the room.
I also have a soft spot for all those weird Diener aliens and monsters they used to give out in Happy Meals back when I was a kid. I have the entire alien set now but still looking for a complete monster set.
Bottom line though, I spent more time playing with Legos and Star Wars toys than anything else. No matter what else came along, I always ended up going back to those.

lol, yeah the 1/48 (also the 1/60s) yamato strike vf-1s valkyrie is pretty cool. Yamato has stolen lots of my cash.
As a kid, you can't beat Legos. So much "replay value". lol
