Let's have some fun, list your favorite obscure video game. Many fun games are obscure, or just not well known.
List the game and the platform, and a breif description if you want.
I'll start:
SnapJack- Arcade: An fairly unknown game by Universal that plays a bit like a cross between pacman and moon patroll.
NE146

Taito Marine Date: One of the first trackball games ever. They used to have it at the local mom n' pop store and that's the ONLY time I've ever seen it. You basically get 3 or 4 "spins" of the trackball to propel an octopus through a hazardous maze to get to the end where his girlfriend is. The game is not emulated yet although a couple of screenshots are out there showing it partially. I remember the background being ocean blue although the partially emu'd version is all black. it'd probably suck via emulation anyway, with it being trackball controlled...unless of course you have a tracball. (Sort of like playing Capcom's Bowling with a mouse or keyboard). The game wasn't all that really.. but I'd just like to see it for pure nostalgia's sake as I used to play it a lot as a kid. :)
2nd: Taito Space Chaser and Taito Crazy Balloon. Both are in the same boat as above but ARE emulated. However, they have no sound yet which is sorely missed :(

Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom for NES. One of my favorite adventures of all time. Where the hell else do you find a donut in the trash can of a night club and feed it to an inmate to get the information you need to escape from the anthropomorphic banana guards? What other game lets you smack everyone you meet? WHAT OTHER GAME HAS OLD MAN CORN??? Nothing, dammit.

Mag Max in the arcade! I spent much of my sister's money playing that. I've only seen one home version (NES) and it paled in comparison. Luckily, they finally got it going on MAME.

Super Don Quixote and Pleiads. I'd also say Cloak & Dagger, but I'm not sure that one counts as obscure (although I've only seen one once).

Oh yeah, seeing Tempest reminded me...Magician for NES is another obscure favorite. Very, very innovative game, kind of combines an action game with Loom by Lucasarts.
Also, don't know if this is considered "obscure," but I'm extremely partial to "Shark! Shark!" on the Intellivision.

I really dig the Journey arcade game... I play it everyday on MAME.
Another game I like, but is a royal handful on MAME is Night Stocker, combination driving and shooting game...

heh I've always dug that game too. :) Too bad Mame cant duplicate the actual audio tape that plays in the arcade game (but I guess you could always play some mp3's in the background). But you just gotta love the kooky gameplay and controlling a little Neil Schon. :D

Vanark/Playstation - Great shooter
Steep Slope Sliders/Saturn - FUN snowboarding game
Doom Troopers/SNES - Excellent run and gun shooter
These are just off the top of my head.

some favorite obscurities:
Monster Smash - C64
"Smash" monsters using two sets of graves. Quite addiciting, and I've never seen anything else quite like it.
Krazy Kreatures - NES
I don't really remember what takes place in this game, I just remember it being super addiciting.
Mega Zone - arcade
I LOVED this game in the arcade, but I haven't played it much in MAME.

Little League Baseball-NES...I think this is obscure anyway...
SNES Addams Family, my favorite platform game of all time
Biker Dave-Atari 8-bit...this was some Antic Magazine game...it was great!
STUN(N?) Runner-Arcade

Ah, BUT, NE1 and Scooterb, Retrocade CAN duplicate the Journey tape loop that plays during the roadie stage...

Sky Blazer: a platform game by Sony Imagesoft along the lines of Super Ghouls n Ghosts or Actraiser, but you fight with your fists. Nice mode 7 effects, lush graphics and a cool soundtrack
Run Saber. A fun 2-player Contra type game, except you have laser swords.

Well both of mine fall into the Game Gear, oddly enough:
Dragon Crystal : THis game totally ruled, it was turn based kinda, but in a weird weird way...there is this little egg that follows you around and with exp -turns into a baby dragon, then the dragon gets bigger and then he grows armour..and you know what the best part is? i dont know what happenes after that cause the game is hard as Frank Dux...oi vey..PS if anyone has ever beaten this game, let me know, drop me a mail or something, cause id love to know what happens, i been trying to beat this thing since the 8th grade, and im 23 now;(
Crystal Warriors : If it werent for this game i dont think FFTactics would exist, it was the first time id seen anything like this..and im thinking it may have been made by Konami cause its alot like a primitive vandal hearts.
Anyways, these game rocked, if you can ever find them at a game shop, PAY THE PRICE!, its worth it.

Donkey Kong 3 - starring Stanley the Bugman (arcade and NES) - Loved this game growing up. For years, no one believed me when I said I used to play a game where you shot ol' DK in the ass with bugspray.
Tailgunner (arcade) - great, great vector game. Kind of simple target shooting, but it had a lot of action in the upper levels.

The names all escape me...
- Gottlieb's coin-op Reactor game. Trak-Ball control, strange gameplay, and this awesome music!
- There was an arcade laserdisc motorcycle racer where you'd race across the solar system, moons, etc. I loved that game.
- On the Genesis, there was an obscure little robot fighter with great and humorous animation. Me & buds would play the 2-player mode, you built your bot with whatever arms/attachments/legs you wanted. It was great because you could pull the torso off your opponent, and had weapons like a Drill, etc. I just can't remember its name.

The one really bonafide obscure game that I can think of at the moment is Jukebox, by Spinnaker, for Colecovision. Not the best game for Coleco, but I love it, nevertheless. It just has that really addictive, replay quality to it (for me, anyway) that makes you immediately try it again and again (like Shanghai for SMS, Super Breakout: game 7 [Progressive Breakout] for Atari 2600, Tetris, and Dragster for the 2600). And it's got some really neat music to boot, though it can get a bit old after a while. I'm always a sucker for those dancing cats at the end. I've only won the game once, and I wish it had a significant, celebratory ending, but unfortunately, it's the same ending even when you lose (still, it's the dancing cats, so it's not so bad).
Speaking of Shanghai for the SMS, I'm not sure if this is considered to be obscure enough, but I'll list it anyway. My ultimate addicitive game for any system, bar none. I'm always coming back to it again and again, trying to solve it in five minutes.
Another semi-obscure game I love is Super Skateboardin' for the 7800. Haven't played this one in a while, I should dig it out. All you Tony Hawk fans out there, you might be a bit disappointed, because it's not so much about the skateboarding; it's more of a maze/platform game, trying to accomplish all the tasks (i.e. turn off everything--lights, switches, etc.) in a certain time limit. The skateboarding is incidental.
And I'm not sure how obscure any game by Atari for the 2600 is, but I really love 3-D Tic Tac Toe, and I never see anyone mention it ever as being one of their favorites. I used to be obsessed with this game as a kid, I just thought it was so cool. And it was designed by Carol Shaw, so after a while you see cameo appearances by enemy helicopters, checkers, and polo players on horseback. Or maybe that's the paint thinner talkin'.

pretty much ANY old pinball machine with only 4 or 5 digit digital counters... most were by gottleib or bally, if i remember correctly. memories...
other arcade stuff:
cube quest- really oddball arcade shooting game with trippy computer-generated images
blaster- played it to death, but i've forgotten everything but those GIANT power-ups, lol
the three stooges- too damn funny with multiple players
deep scan- sega had a thing for submarine games for some reason- this one was the most fun, i think...
trog! oh yeah!
space lords- i THINK that was the name of it- atari's multiplayer networked stand-up space shooter- one player was the pilot, one was the gunner- would have made a HELL of a jaguar conversion, i think!
U.F.O- well, that's the name i remember. BIG machine, you sat in it, and it revolved, as you shot at goofy aliens in saucers hovering over a suburban neighborhood...
home consoles:
arkista's ring (NES)
the magic of scheherazade (NES)
crystal mines (NES)
the divide: enemies within (psx)
operation logic bomb/ikari no yousai (snes/sfam)
zoom! (genesis/md)

For the CoCo: Cheese Bombs by I believe Richard Ramella from an issue of Hot CoCo Magazine. It's simple: you are a robot trapped in a cheese machine. There are two vertical chutes and two horizontal chutes and cheese gets launched down each randomly. You must move your robot out of the way by clinging to the sides of the machine, ducking, or climbing up (with your feet against both walls of the chamber) to dodge the cheese.
Another CoCo favorite was Klendathu, based on Starship Troopers. Move your man from sector to sector and then transport in and fry the bugs with your flame thrower.
But then again, most things on the CoCo are fairly obscure :P

I was a really big fan of Culture Brain and all of their obscure series as a kid. I think they're a true underrated company worth of mentioning in this kind of thread.
One thing that makes CB stuff really interesting is comparing the Japanese and American games. These might have been the first Japanese games released in America where the American versions are sometimes far superior. Check out the American version of The Magic of Sheherazade and the highly inferior "Arabian Dream Sheherazade" which the game was made from. Graphics, the entire overworld, music, and the gameplay in general was overhauled so much in the American version it's like playing a completely different game. And it's way better, too.

Anarchy for the Amiga by Psygnosis(maybe an Atari ST ver too. anyone?) A very nice Defender update, I prefer it to D2K
Gravattack (way cool Amiga shareware game, later released as the inferior Dr Plummet's House of Fun) I still wish I knew the secret bonuses...
Maybe not as obscure (at least to those of you in Europe) Wizkid! Very wacky sequel to Wizball, by Sensible Software...

I'm not sure how many of my choices qualify as "obscure," but here it goes.
Vice Project Doom (NES) -An excellent game that's part Spy Hunter, part Ninja Gaiden, part Operation Wolf, and part pulp action flick. It's everything that those Golgo 13 titles should have been.
Princess Crown (Import Saturn) -A great 2-D action/RPG with gorgeous hand-drawn visuals, a fun little story, and a battle system that's almost closer to a fighting game. Though not unknown among import fans, it's seldom mentioned in other circles.
Popful Mail (SegaCD) -Everyone remembers the Lunar games (and rightly so), but there's far less recognition for this hilarious, well-made, anime-fueled Action/Platform/RPG, which was also translated by Working Designs. I think that one member of our community actually bears the game's title for a board name, so I know I'm not alone in liking Popful Mail.
Emerald Dragon (Super Famicom/Import TurboDuo/Others) -This RPG was ahead of its time, with pretty FMV, a creative battle system, and a story that's surprisingly unique for an early-90's role-player. Even the supposedly inferior Super Famicom version is good.
Metal Warriors (SNES) -A pseudo-sequel to Cybernator, this one earned my admiration on account of its non-linear levels and highly enjoyable two-player mode.
Other picks: Alcahest (SFC), Shantae (GameBoy Color), Elemental Gearbolt (PlayStation), and Alisia Dragoon (Genesis)

Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom for NES. One of my favorite adventures of all time. What other game lets you smack everyone you meet? WHAT OTHER GAME HAS OLD MAN CORN??? Nothing, dammit.

And Frankie Goes to Hollywood is cool, I've played that game much until it didn't work good anymore (game would crash at the moment tat you pointed toward a monitor which let you play a mini-game).
I typed in quite a few 8-bit Atari games in my day- some of the best are:

A-Rogue(Antic)
Warrior 3000(Antic)

Well, my obscure choices >:( are:
Street Fighter III - N.E.S. (a pirate version of Hong Kong, not bad really, also appears in spanish vg magazines), i played it a lot.
Spit Wad Willy - P.C. (a bad clone of Pang! but very funny).
Street Figher IV - N.E.S. (no comments), i remember the name of a pair of characters: Pasta, Musashi, Ryu, Combon (Musashi and Combon were the bosses)
Fatal Fury - N.E.S. (Very poor, there were a lot of characters). I remember that Cheng Sinzan is called Teng here and he looks like a big bad fat gay person with a red t-shirt.
I know about a lot of obscure games, but i donīt remember anymore now. If i could remember, i wrote anything else.

SNES: Plok-Very creative platformer about a character made of clay trying to locate a flag someone stole from his home.
NES: Shatterhand- Excellent action game made by Jaleco... mostly like Power Blade.
SMS: Dead Angle- A very rewarding and innovative shooting game in which you control a see-through detective in an almost 1st person perspective.
Genesis: High Seas Havoc- Clever name and clever game featuring a Seal as the main character.

Also another game that abviously will never be emulated...Baby Pac man. The mix of pac man and pinball all in one machine. If I could get another arcade game in this room that would be my choice. :-)

I guess, technically, Herzog Zwei qualifies as an obscure game, even though it's famous for practically inventing a whole genre (real-time strategy). I finally discovered it a couple months ago; I've been kicking myself for overlooking it all these years ever since.
And why the heck aren't there online Herzog matches? Everyone's got a copy of Gens, right?

Cool choices, agree with a lot of 'em.
I've always LOVED Splash Lake on the Turbo CD/Duo. Differently arranged rows of blocks on water, you as some sort of bird creature have to peck out these blocks as you move around to trap your enemies on a row of blocks that you disconnected from the main set so they'll sink! Amusing cartoonish characters (including a log that wears sunglasses and smokes cigarettes!), challenging as you progress in the game, goofy 80's game music... one of my all-timers, obscure or not.

Everytime i fired up MAME, i play those three obscure games:
Major Title by Irem: This is maybe one of the most fun and easy golf game i ever play. Too bad Major Title 2 still have some graphic problems.
Vendetta by Sega:
Is this game ever been release on the Genesis ?
Because Sega really surprized me with this one. I thing it's way more challenging and hard than the original Double Dragon, choice of 4 differents heroes with their own moves, "gay dudes" try to "attack" you on the 3rd level, great choice of weapons (chain, gun, baseball bat, barrel, bottle)
Body Slam by Sega :
Hehe! Sega once again !.
A not so easy wrestling game with girls ! but since MAME version 0.5X
it's a not playable (said "game over" you the started the match ") the driver must be rewrite, still wait for this.

A couple more semi-obscure games that I really liked growing up in the arcade
Two Tigers - Lots of fun, especially with the flight sticks...dad and I spent a lot of money dogfighting in this game.
MACH 3 - A laserdisc game where you flew a jet through canyons...think Top Gun / Afterburner style play, there was also a top down bombing run game on that same machine that I was really bad at, but it was fun.

Anyone who likes MULE or other enterprising games should definitely check out Run for the Money for the C64 and the Atari 8bit. It was an amazing game way ahead of its time.
Obscure, but great. You landed your spaceship on this planet full of monkeys... called Simians. Your ship was also your factory. It's a 2-player game where you compete to sell your bananas to them. Advertising, customer loyalty, product quality, this game had everything!

NES - Isolated Warrior -- I spent many, many hours playing this over Christmas break. It seems kind of twinky now, but I still love to give it a spin every now and then.
NES - Mighty Bomb Jack -- Not sure if it counts as obscure, but it was definitely unique. And I spent a ton of time in search of Beelzebut.
Game Boy -- Heiankyo (sp?) Alien -- I still love this game. It's the best hole-digging simulator going!

Gaplus (Galaga 3... Yes, I think it's better than Galaga)
Bubbles

Zoo Keeper

Since I saw this pop up on the main forum, thought I'd bump this one up for all to see.
While I'm at it, allow me to add an old one.
Towering Inferno (by Vidtec, for Atari 2600). This flickery little game can actually get away with being flickery since the flicker occurs in rapidly shifting walls of flame. The goal is to rescue people on the floor, extinguish and avoid the walls of flame, and get to the window. Then onto the next level. It's mindless fun but great action, and a great two-player game to boot.

Only obscure to me... I haven't seen the arcade versions of Rygar and Ninja Gaiden since the '80s. I remember them being very different from the NES versions. I spent many a quarter on them both.
And since Lucky and Wild is on here, I have to mention Cops, the Laserdisc game based on the TV show. It was also driving and shooting, but not at the same time. In my opinion a laserdisc driving game has to be the worst gaming idea ever.

Snap Jack, Jump Bug, ColecoVision Illusions, Major Havoc, Pulsar, Killer Comet, and a rather strange 2-part game called "Cuber." If you smacked the side of that machine once or twice, the red on the screen would disappear, and it would actually look better- sort of like a spooky, haunted maze. This game is not listed in the Killer List Of Videogames website, by the way, and that arcade in Holland in 1982 was the only time I've ever seen it.
Ah, memories...

What was that old, OLD arcade game where you are driving the fire truck around--one of you steers the front and the other steers the back? It was done in all black and white block graphics, so I'm guessing it was late 70's/early 80's...at least that's when I played it. It was very frustrating at the time.

Legacy of the Wizard - NES - awesome sidescrolling adventure game. IIRC, this is the 4th part of the Dragon Slayer Series. Legend of Heroes: Dragon Slayer also got a US release on the Turbo Duo.
Shadow of Destiny - PS2 - Puzzle/Adventure game. Very interesting "mystery" story. Good change of pace.
Just a couple off the top of my head, anyways...

'GHETTOBLASTER' for the Commodore 64.
You control a Rasta with a boombox on his shoulder who has to collect tapes from different locations in a virtual town, shoot music notes at passers-by to make them dance, and avoid nasty characters who damage your boombox/nick your tapes/attack you etc etc..
All with the nastayest funk music ever written for the sid chip! 8-)
I loved that game and still play it from time to time even though I completed it in 1986! Games seemed to have so much more humour then. :(

Comix Zone...its lack of popularity mystifies me. Sure, the game is damned hard, but as a 12 year old I'd go downstairs almost every day and play it in windowed mode on our new Packard Bell PC (this was '96). I know there's a couple problems in the Genesis version compared to this one, first and foremost the music, but the thing came with a CD (which I've never listened to!) The Genesis version fares much better than the Genesis version of another Sega (Novotrade, really) game on that PC which I enjoyed (and recently played through some more), which required the CD for music: Ecco the Dolphin.
Why Comix Zone is so cheap nowadays is beyond me. I got a sealed one (and it will stay this way; unfortunately, that means I can't play this copy) from Buttasuperb just yesterday along with a ton (not literaly a ton, but close) of Genesis games and a complete Genesis 3 for a reasonable price...
Picking up the Japanese one is actually something I've commited myself to doing eventually, 'cuz the box art is much better. GRANTED, it's one of those Mega Drive titles that nets around $100 sometimes, but I'd say it's worth it :D

Although the game may not be too obscure, I think Tech Romancer for the Dreamcast is a reallu underrated game. I think no Anime fan should be without it. It had lots of unlockables and mini games too. I never saw it in arcades around my area so it was quite neat to see it on the DC.

This arcade game came out in 1983, and was the predecessor to Bubble Bobble in many ways. I'm not a huge fan of the arcade version, but when Sega ported this game over to the SG-1000, they improved the gameplay a bit, and I must admit, even though it has it's flaws, I really dig it.

In MAME, you can set the Dip settings so you're invincible, makes the game rediculously easy. The NES version SUCKS, and doesn't have an ending, and is missing some stuff.
The SG-1000 version is the best, as the bombs explode a little quicker, and the enemy movements are a bit more predictable.
As I said, it's not all that great, but it can really grow on you after a while.

Cratermaze on the TG-16 is a nifty little puzzle game that plays kind of like an overhead version of Lode Runner. Another good (import only) game for the system is Honey on the Road, a weird platformer with branching pathways and a surprising amount of variety (once you get past the opening stages).
Umihara Kawase (SFC/PSX) is a very unique kind of game in which you control a girl who swings around the landscape with a string made of elastic which is attached to her fishing pole. What makes this game interesting is the semi-realistic physics that are involved, which means there's a huge number of undocumented sorts of moves you can (and are later expected to) pull off.

Not necessarily an old game, but one I enjoyed playing.....mmmm....maybe late 80's, early 90's was a game called Castles for Amiga. Friend of mine had a system, and I spent many mindless hours staring at the screen. Basically the game is, as the name suggests, a castle sim. As I recall it, you had a time limit and your "mission" was to build and defend your castle for the pre-determined timeframe. Of course, you could also freebuild, which just got to be ridiculous after 30 or 40 hours (But I don't understand, WHY do you need 3 moats around the 5 protective walls?!) Anyone else ever play this game, or know if I can get it emu'd anywhere? I would love to pick it up again!!

The ROM I found is labeled "Fudou Myouou Den," and I meant to say that I really prefer this version over the hastily-hacked NES version with the grating title screen tones and comically out-of-place cover art (though it's still good). You really can't go wrong no matter how you cut it, though :)

I vote for ...
two Amstrad CPC 464 games (may have hit other platforms too, but not that I know of):
Harvey Headbanger .. you and your opponent swing round a grid, overhead view picking up coctails, the strength of which is indicated by a diminishing number. As you pick up cocktails you get more drunk, and harder to control, but also less susceptible to damage.
The object is to bash into your opponent enough times to knock them out. Obviously, you don't want to get knocked out yourself so you have to cushion yourself with as much drink as possible ... but this makes it harder to actually hit them!! SUperb game. I wish I could download it, but I can't find anywhere that has it.
Rock Star Ate My Hamster .. hilarious rock group management sim, in which you have to attempt to manage a world class rock group, get their singles and albums up the charts, feed them with extravagant amounts of booze and stuff to keep them happy and keep them from killing themselves.
Good stuff.

I vote for Hype: The Time Quest.
It's an obvious take-off of Zelda: OoT, and frankly it does a good job of it. The main character (and all other chars) are Playmobil people.
The English version is fairly rare; I haven't been able to find a copy myself. I have the German one which is relatively common (and which I got for around $10); it was well worth it. The game is a lot of fun, with interesting levels, four different time periods, and the ability to ride a dragon for one level.

Crystal Method soundtrack to kill bugs in a never ending psycadelic (sp?) tunnel. Now tell me what could be better then that?

I would say Gitaroo Man and Magic Pengel for the PS2, but everyone and their mom already knows that Gitaroo Man rocks. So I'm gonna say Magic Pengel. If you haven't played it, you draw your own monsters then fight with them. Its a pretty basic game, but I like it.

I bought a Game Wave DVD player at a thrift store, and picked up a bunch of games on clearance at a Toys 'R Us. Most of the games are not worth mentioning, but Letter Zap is strangely addictive. It's a word game where you either have a block of letters or one large multiplayer block of letters, and you have to string together connected letters to form words. The longer, the higher points you'll get. I've really gotten into this one in the past few days.

-Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together(SNES/PSX)
-Arc the Lad 2(PSX)
-Brigandine Legend of Forsena/Brigandine Grand Edition(either game)(PSX)
-Mobile Suit Gundam Encounters in Space(PS2)
-God Hand(PS2)
My top three not as well known/liked/played are also one in the same with my top three favorite games. Encounters in Space is obviously known to some Gundam fans only, but a majority of Gundam fans seem to not have played the title(I'd say it'd probably be a favorite of anyone who plays, Gundam fan or not.) Then there's God Hand which hardly anyone knows about and those that do it's a 50/50 chance on them liking it from what I've seen. God Hand is easily my favorite beat em up of all time.
Fifth place was actually the hardest for me to judge because I had a few games in mind and really just weeding down which I thought was liked least and known more.
Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen(SNES/PSX.) It got a release on the VC so now it's really well known, but most RPG fans for some reason or another don't enjoy this game. What's not to love about Ogre Battle. The only thing wrong with this game in my opinion are how long some of the battles will end up taking, especially if you want to get everything.
Astyanax(NES.) It's not that well known and it does have quite a few people who don't like it(well, sortof well known to fans of older games, but doesn't have many fans or people that like it much.) The game has quite a few platform areas and death pits, but come on, it's not hard.
The Great Battle 5(SNES,) though specifically, the entire series. Do you like Final Fight, Valkyrie Densetsu, Contra, Wild Guns, etc? The entire series plays like alot of other popular games and while not being as good, definitely are close. The Great Battle 5 is like Wild Guns and Contra gameplay changing up between each stage, being my favorite of the series. Alot of importers have probably played these, but I doubt most gamers would just because being based off of SD versions of giant robot anime characters.
Tail Concerto

I'm gonna have to do two lists here. One are games that are obscure by average. casual gamer standards, and one that's obscure by DP standards (tough I know- and no doubt most people here will have heard of them- but I think most will agree they're not 'everyday'). I'm also sticking to DC or earlier.
Mildly obscure

3. Power Stone 2 (DC)
4. Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (PS1- borderline obscurity this one)
5. Dragon's Revenge (MD)
DP-brand obscure
1. Psycho Pinball (MD)

Burn Cycle (Philips CD-i) FMV video gaming at its absolute best.
God Hand (PS2) It seems to be known of by enthusiasts and collectors, but honestly it should have been even more popular, imo. Final Fight on some serious crack. Awesome game!
Battle Tanx: Global Assault (N64) This game has been seriously overlooked for a long time and i'm one of the few I know that brings it up on a constant basis. Most addictive fun 4 player party game on the system, ranks with Goldeneye and Smash Bros., single player is nothing special, but the multiplayer is still among the best.

I agree! There's no point in arguing, because here k8track is right. It doesn't matter when the thread was created, what matters is when the thread was last posted-in; that determines its actual "oldness".
So with that in mind, I took the liberty of merging the two threads and leaving a temporary redirect so people can find their way here easily from Classic Gaming.

It's not something to "feel" one way or the other about and take sides on - it's a rule. It's the way we handle duplicate threads here, and it's pretty concrete. If a thread hasn't been posted-in for at least a year, it's ok to post a duplicate. Otherwise the dupe can be locked or more recently, merged, since that's something we can do now with the newer forum software.
K8track happened to chime in this time knowing about how we handle dupe threads here and linking to a still-relevant one, but non-staff members do it all the time, and I've appropriately locked/merged those threads too without a second thought. Why, because I feel the same way? No, because when it comes to how we do things here you're either right or wrong, and it matters flibble-all who you are or how I "feel" about it, or you. When you're right, you're right. He is, you aren't. End of story.
So please - move on, and spare us anymore of this passive-aggressive nonsense.
Thank you. :-)

Of course! That's why I merged your thread instead of just locking it - not because other members were taking part and I didn't want to just kill that off, mind you; it was purely out of malevolent intentions of wieldin' mah power and feedin' mah ego!
And yes, I was born in 1983. Before that I believe. I read somewhere the Adam version was also on the Atari 2600 and 5200, maybe other systems as well.
The full name was Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom.
Played that game a lot back in the day. Too bad I don't still have the Adam... it crashed and burned (literally, there was smoke) when I was a kid. Moved up to a 7800 after that.

Well both of mine fall into the Game Gear, oddly enough:
Dragon Crystal : THis game totally ruled, it was turn based kinda, but in a weird weird way...there is this little egg that follows you around and with exp -turns into a baby dragon, then the dragon gets bigger and then he grows armour..and you know what the best part is? i dont know what happenes after that cause the game is hard as Frank Dux...oi vey..PS if anyone has ever beaten this game, let me know, drop me a mail or something, cause id love to know what happens, i been trying to beat this thing since the 8th grade, and im 23 now;(
I remember that one!! That was my first roguelike...but yeah, it WAS hard...I've only gotten far enough to see the egg hatch once, and I used to play that game a LOT.
Check out Shiren the Wanderer or the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games (not kidding), they're turn-based in the same way, also feature randomized levels, and are insanely hard...
Actually, I've only tried Shiren myself, but I've heard the Pokemon Mystery Dungeons are just as punishing. I've got the rom sitting on my acekard, I'll have to give it a spin one of these days.

I add a few more:
Gameboy:
BC Kid 2, different to the orginal.
Flash on the gb
Ninja Gaiden Shadow, awesome, and I don't really like NG games, cept maybe the arcade version.
Donkey Kong Land, not just a port, almost like a totaly different game can't say that for the rest of the DKL and DKC ports though.
Kid Dracula, really nifty Castlevania lite game by Konami.
Hammering Harry VS the Ghost building Company, really good.
The first two TMNT games.
Flintstones platformer, better than the 16 bit counter parts imo.
I must say that the GB had some awesome games in it's time.
Blade on the gbc almost like spartan x type game, with some cool moves.
NES:
Mr. Gimmick, Kirby beater?
Power Blade 2, much better than the first one.
Wagyan Land 3, lite-platformer
Keroppi 2, lite-platformer
Code Name - Viper, awesome Capcom version of Rolling Thunder?
Daiku no Gen San 2, aka Hammering Harry 2
Hammering Harry, a really cool port of the arcade version with lots of extra stuff.
Adventure Island 4, The AI adventure type game I liked because it was more about platforming than metrovaning around most of the time.
Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 2 aka Kid Nikki 2, not that anyone knows who kid nikki is?, like both games, equally.
Little Samson: Really fun megaman-lite type game, I just dragon all the way.
SMS:
Master of Darkness, lots of style, damn this game is awesome, it's like a lost Castlevania game, graphics are awesome for a SMS, you'd think it was early 16bit? I don't know why the hell they didn't realease it for the genny, maybe cause Konami would sue their pants off?
Batman Returns, so much better than the Genny version, it's really cool.
Black Belt, man this is way better than spartan x imo.
