Have you ever put a game you've never played into your console, picked up the controller, then went through the game without losing a single life?
As far as I can remember, I've never done that before. Two lives yes, but never on the first.
Has anybody ever done that before?

I know I've done it before at least once....but for the life of me I can't remember WHAT game it was..

Felix the Cat for the NES. It's... too... easy.
And, uhm, at the rate I'm going, Wind Waker. Yikes!

Wild Arms for the PSX. I just picked up the controller and played through. I saved a few times of course but I never died throughout the entire game. I've at least died playing pokemon blue a couple times...
but still, I love Wild Arms for the plot.

Wind waker for sure, no question.
Final Fantasy X - don't recall dying on this one.
Actually, Final Fantasy 8-10 I really don't remember ever dying, thought they were all pathetically easy, althought I think I DID die once in FF8, don't remember.
I'm sure there are 5-10 more RPG's that I never died in, just don't remember. As far as NON-rpg games go, I doubt I've finished any in the first life. If there was a chance of that, the game was probably so boring I shut it off.

Two games that I can be called the MASTA on, first time I picked them up.
ColecoVision Dr. Seuss' Fix-up the Mix-up Puzzler. Ha! I am far superior in the brain than this game ever expects! I breezed through the 16-piece puzzle in less than four hours.
http://www.digitpress.com/dpsightz/colecovision/drseuss.gif
Atari 2600 Strawberry Shortcake. Ha! They thought making the clothing different colors would baffle a super-human mind such as the one which I have?! Fools! I defeated this in a mere ten hours.

I don't think I've beaten a game on the first try, but I come close. Zelda WW for the cube I died once. And the stupid part was I died from a pig because I wanted to see if I could kill it... but it killed me. Didn't even give me a chance to get away too. It just killed me in one shot.

The new Bandai dolls have jeans on... I guess they wanted to contemporize the character or something. Not that I'm a Strawberry Shortcake fan or anything... I just watch a lot of Cartoon Network and Nick and they show the ads constantly.

STUN Runner on the Lynx. An amazing copy of the landmark arcade game, and almost insultingly easy. It was a trade-off, I suspect, for playing on such a small screen.

Road Avenger for the Sega CD. I don't know what it is, but I played through the game entirely the very first time I played it, without losing one life. Maybe years of Dragons Lair type games has to do with it :) I then used to pop it in and win it this way at least once a week...sort of a relaxation ritual. I remember friends always coming by to watch me play through it...sort of like watching a cartoon!

Two actually:
Soul Calibur 2(arcade) - Although I had played Soul Calibur on the DC to death, but I only lost like two rounds going through the whole of SC2. too easy.
Kabuki Warriors(Xbox) - paid $8.00 for a used copy, knowing that it would be a travesty. Beat it first time though, and only lost a couple of rounds.
Oh what a game. Who thought: Let's make a fighting game with one move button, and essentially one stage.
Space Invaders for the Playstation - most difficult level. Played all the way to the end first time! I was suprised as hell, but will stil love the game.
ALso, Bust-a-move 2 and 4 - got through these games the first time also. I'm just kick-ass at these bubble pop type games.

Never died in wind waker... never even used a faerie. Whee, Ganon got me down a whopping 7 hearts. Ugh.
I'm sure there's a whole load of RPG's I've gone through without dying once in, but I just can't remember.

Breakthru for the NES, I had never played it when my roomate brought it over, I picked up the controller and beat the game in 15 minutes without dying. My roomate was kinda pissed as his nostalgic memorys from childhood were completely dashed.
Don't you hate it when you think/remember being the master of a game only to realize when you play it again years later that the game wasn't that hard in the first place?

All the Pokemon games, FFX, Mortal Kombat Special Forces, Mythologies, and Gold, Space Channel 5,Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Mortal Kombat Gold, Worms World Party(52 and 0), Shooting Range, Point Blank, Super Metroid(had help though). The list goes on and on.

I remember popping in Double Dragon for Genesis, and basicly breezing thorough it, until I got to that damn bridge.
Damn did that piss me off, I was doing so good, but Abobo just kept kicking my ass. I got so mad I just started pressing random buttons, suddenly.
"what the hell, the game glitched up, and he flew behind me! The hell, he did it again! Wait, it's a back elbow!"
I then kicked his ass and proceded to beat the game in less that 20 minutes, on the first try.

Godzilla the Animated Series-Gameboy Color
I bought the game at the same time as my gameboy color at TRU, and after playing it on the ride home(30 min) I beat it almost as soon as I got home!Pretty lame, it took me almost a year to save up for the gameboy color, and couldnt afford to buy any new games for a while.(I was notorious for buying expensive, shitty games :/ )

Sega Ages Outrun for PS2. What a letdown...

I am almost sure of Garfield (Genesis) but it's been a while though.
The only one I can remember right now is Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers for the SNES. Got it Christmas Eve, beat it Christmas morning.

Almost EVERY Capcom game on NES and SNES that bears the Disney license. However, I remember on my first stint at Darkwing Duck (NES) and Aladdin, Goof Troop & Bonkers (SNES) I died alot on some parts so those 2 games sorta took awhile. Most of these Disney Capcom games had some pretty unique boss patterns but they were so easy to catch on to.

Only thing I can actually think of specifically would be primal rage for gameboy, but fighters are fairly simple to "beat" once through anyway.
Come to think of it, I don' think I ever "died" in Shenmue II unless it was one of the gamble-challenge guys, and maybe a QTE fuckup in the being-chased-by-a-transvestite-with-chainsaw area.

Heman: Masters of the Universe on Atari 2600, what a joke. You bomb some stick figure guys, avoid a few SAMS and run through a couple of moving doorways and touch skeletor to kill him.
And also Pitfall, got a perfect score my first try. Ok, I don't think anyone is going to believe that one.... LOL

I don't really think RPGs count. It's not like the games are hard, they are just long. It should be more along the lines of shmups and run/jump games, not Zelda and FF games.

There's also a bootleg japanese kiddie platformer GB game I've got that took me 30 minutes to beat, and I only lost one life. Also, that game had the easiest bosses EVER.

i'm surprised no one mentionned Aladdin on snes ...
i made the mistake to exchange Smi City for it to a friend.

first try : finished the game on one life.
second try : finished the game getting every f*cking diamond hidden in it.
third try : finished the game getting every diamond in the game and never
loosing any life point.
there's a few games i've also beaten on first try, like Zelda Link's Awakening
and Super Mario Bros 3
I've beaten a couple on the first try. The one I'm proudest of beating is the MK3 arcade game. It wasn't easy and I used a couple quarters for sure. I still beat it soundly enough to be proud.

A week or so ago I got really really close to beating Super Bonk on my second try (rather like Racoon Lad, I didn't get a game over the first time or even really lose lives; I only played through a little). Pretty much instantly hooked. This last time I got to the final boss on my first continue but had been worn down by the others...I have a pretty good idea what I need to do, but didn't get a chance as I started with only two/three lives after clearing out the Memory Cave. That last boss pretty much throws the game's learning curve outta whack, unfortunately, and while it's nice they start you far enough back to gain back some stuff (flying crab shooting minigame right before the Twilight Jungle), I'd rather they let you restart at the Memory Cave with all the stuff you had when you started.

Got my hands on TMNT: Hyperstone Heist for the Genesis last night. Half an hour later I was watching the credits.
It's always nice to have a few games that you can blow through without even thinking about it.

Are you serious? I remember this game being frigging impossible because you had to choose what stupid doors to open, then getting kicked back to square one!
Or is this a different game I'm thinking of...

I just beat Kirby's Dream Land for the original GB last night on my first try. I finished the whole thing off waiting for a load of laundry to get done in the dryer, lol.
Really was a damned fine game though, all kinds of cool control innovations over a standard 2d platformer like Mario. Nintendo needs to get that sort of simple genius back again.

I beat Bonk's adventure for the NES on my second try. The first time I played it, I got fairly far, but quit because I was just testing to see if it worked, and went on to play a few other games.
Don't you mean TG16?
Any ways i beat it on my frist try too.
Easy game in my book.
Only other game i can think of for 'my frist try is.
Legend of Kage for the NES.

Max Payne 2 (Xbox) waaay to easy. The first Max Payne was so much better.
Sonic 2 on Genny I ran through the first time without dying I was a Sonic freak back then.
I beat the original Devil May Cry the first time through with no prob at all even though it is a great game.
Same with part two with the girl.
Most 2-D fighters I always beat the first time through with few exceptions like Streetfighter3:third impact (cheap boss  )

Ultraman for the SNES: You just fight a monster then run away and regen health, repeat - too easy :)
Pit-Fighter for Genesis: I just hit a bunch of buttons repeatedly, no strategy whatsoever, and beat it somehow (tells ya alot about the great gameplay in that one :( )

Rhapsody. That game was so easy it made me sick. :puke:
(If that's the game i'm thinking it is and If I even spelled some of the words right...)
(Singing)Amphibian Paridise! Wide open spaces!
Anyway, I beat:
Cubix: Race 'n Robots (A few hours after purchase)
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Took under 2 hours)

Shinobi (NES), Wrath of the Black Manta and Strider are a few games I can think of off the top of my head I beat on the first try. The last boss in Manta took some time though.
Actually, do you mean the first play through or like, the first day you owned the game?

Super Metroid for SNES. It only took something like 40 hours STRAIGHT. Also, X-Files for PS1. But, what do you expect from a game thats all FMV. I never would have guessed that a 5 disc game could hold LESS than 4 hours of total gameplay. More like a choose your own adventure with video clips.

I recall beating the arcade version of Capcom Vs. SNK on my first try. I was using the team of Terry and Ryu. I think I managed to do the same on one of the arcade versions of Soul Calibur, though I don't remember which one it was.

The only one I can name is Pardious on the S-Nes. I beat it the day I got it (in the normal pre-set mode) and it was a bit of a disappointmend. My mom got it for me and normally I needed much more time to complete new games. But it's still a good game, no doubt about that!

Pop'n Twinbee on the SNES. Bought it. Took it home. Beat it. Way too easy, and the ending was pretty weak, but still fun.
Another one was Kirby's Adventure, although I didn't get everything- just played through it on the afternoon I got it and beat it without finding all the secret rooms.

Xardion for the SNES. My grandmother rented this for me back in the summer of 93 or 94 I played it for two or three days straight only stopping to eat, sleep, shower, and help grandma... I loved the game, but it could have been a little harder...

Aladdin for the SNES. Me and my brother both beat it without losing a life and in about 30 minutes. Definitely the easiest game I've ever played.

Fighter Maker for the PS1. And I'm not the greatest player of one on one fighters, so it gives one a clue how bad the characters are in that game.

Kirby's Dream Land for the Game Boy is the only one I can think of, although I'm sure some SNES fighters also fit that bill.

It's been a few years since my last post, so I figured I'd post a more up-to-date list with more detail and no references to songs from Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure.
- Cubix: Race 'n Robots (Game Boy Color)
The very first Game Boy Color game I bought back in 2001...and within 2 hours of purchase, I was finished with it. One thing that was amusing was how this was one of the first games I traded in at the local Gamestop when they opened in 2004, and it sat on their shelves until 2008; when they somehow managed to sell it.
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Genesis)
I was over at my grandmother's house one afternoon circa 2002, playing with the Sega Genesis she had setup. Out of randomness, I popped in the Power Rangers game, and in roughly the same time it takes to watch a single episode of the show, I had the game finished. Was fun while it lasted, though.
- Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 3 (Game Boy Color)
It wasn't too hard; it was just very long. Within an afternoon of starting it for the first time, I had it finished.

I beat Kirby's Adventure on NES on the first day I bought it. I got it for a buck at a yard sale, brought it home, and within 1 1/2 hours I beat it. Easy as pie.
I also beat Castlevania: Symphony of the Night without dying once. It was challenging and I saved a lot, but I did it.

A few games I remember conquering on my first play:
Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers (NES) - my friend had just bought this game and he was staying the night and so we played this and as we were getting far, he said "we should stop playing so not to beat a new game"… but I said "Bullocks!" - lets just see how far we can get, and we beat it! He was a bit upset… I ended up trading him a game for it later on…
and recently,
The Monkey King aka Chuka Taisen (Wii) - This game is a sequel for Cloud Master (SMS) and upon getting this game, one of which I had excitement for, I played it and was able to complete the game - both loops - a 1cc on the first play
I then played the race mode and was able to 1cc that too. I wish the game had the same level of challenge as its predecessor… I was really excitement for The Monkey King and then let down as it had zero challenge…SMH

My experience verbatim. Never died once. I paid three dollars for it, so it could've been worse, but wow, is this game ever easy. Like you, I was hoping the difficulty was going to be closer to that of Cloud Master.
