If you missed the February NAVA you should be kicking yourself. Go on, do it. Then check out the pictures:
http://www.digitpress.com/images/store
The tournament centered around a one-of-a-kind Atari 2600 game designed just for NAVA, and the March game will do likewise. I've even had a little personal input on the game, it's actually kinda funny and relates to the store itself and should hit home with some NAVA guests.
We were also visited by members of the www.screwattack.com community, including a few of their celebrities "The Angry Video Game Nerd" and "Captain S". We may be seeing more of these guys as well as others from screwattack.com in March. Let's make them feel at home!
February's NAVA even made the local paper, the NJ Herald News. Check out the two page spread!

Get the date to your boss/manager and request time off for that day. Usually if you get it to them in advance of almost a week and a half, they'll have no problem with it.

As seen on PBC-productions.com mainpage:
For the past 2 months, PBC has attended NAVA (North Atlatic Videogame Aficionados) meetings at a really cool indie game store in Clifton, NJ called Digital Press. Every last saturday of the month, gamers from the tri-state area gather to check out their VAST selection of new and retro games, sell their old games, and play in tournaments. The people are all friendly, and the store is a mecca for gamers. If you make it next month, be sure to check out the basement. Once you see it, you'll know why. PBC hopes to hold an event there this month or next. Stay tuned for details!

I'd just like to take this moment to reveal that I will be returning to the kitchen to create a culinary masterpiece ONCE AGAIN resembling a video game related item.
It's going to absolutely blow those Super Mario "? Blocks" out of the water.
SO, if you've heard stories about my sweet baked treat making abilities but haven't sampled them @ recent NAVAs ... be there for this one.
I promise you won't be disappointed.

The publicity is cool and all, but that basement is not for the general public.
Looks like I'm going to have to get someone to be a guard at NAVA from here on out. Personally I think the basement is an eyesore, and other than the sheer magnitude of "stuff", there really isn't much down there that isn't upstairs or is slated for eBay.
Related: I emailed both Captain S and The Angry Game Nerd regarding future cross-overs and coordination between us so I can be better prepared for the larger crowd. Haven't heard back from either so far.

Well as they say "One man's trash is another person's treasure" honesly it is a nice place to go when you need a breather from the crowd upstairs, like a VIP chill out room of quietness....
Also could have a VIP membership card for special NAVA attendees to gain entrence to the basement, show it to the 'Bouncer" and he will open the velvet rope and let him/her in. Be kinda funny....

That's a pretty good idea, actually.
You know, it isn't JUST a trust issue. My biggest gripe with people down there is that there are those who do not understand how anal I am about the way things are. It boils my bottom when I head down after NAVA to find games turned upside-down, not lined up in nice little stacks, or even moved three inches from where they were before. It may look like clutter but it's actually carefully organized and the more hands - especially those who do not understand my system or know how to put things back in exactly the same place they got them - the more time it takes me to put things back to the way they're supposed to be.

You know, Joe, you and I are right here on the same wavelength. When I was down there, I knew then exactly what you are saying now. To someone else's eye, it looks like a mess, but somehow I knew that you had a fix on precisely where everything was. I hardly touched anything because of that, and anything I did touch was put back the exact way I found it. My basement is organized in a similar fashion.

I knew that pretty much from taking my first step into the store. "Everything is organized, so put it back where you found it" seems to be obvious for me, after working in Toys R Us, where we would literally have 20 carts at the end of the day filled with misplaced items because customers were too lazy to put it back themselves. I agree with where your coming from though, the basement is different than the store.

Good idea, coldguy. It would be could to have a spcial membership card or VIP card or something, I nominate coldguy to be the guard as well, and you need to wear suit with cool sun shades!
Coldguy
03-05-2008, 09:53 AM
If I am the guard the barriers could be all the stuff in the trunk of my car, however I do need cool shades to imtimadate first timers hehehehe....
Now I think it is common sense that if something is moved or misplaced, you put it back EXACTLY the way it was. I blame people not going to libraries for this.
The next item then is what the card is going to look like and how does one get this super card? Any ideas?

It's funny. A few of the libraries I've been to have "return carts" because they're probably so sick of people putting things back in the wrong places they just said, "Screw it, we'll put it back. Just leave the book on this cart."

Just to give an update, I just finished unlocking all multiplayer stuff in Brawl (stages, characters, level editor options, etc.) so that will be included once you receive it.
Now I want to put this idea out there, and I do not want to "officially" offer this, but if it is cool with Joe I have no problem. So Joe if this is cool, let me know so I can get ready to prepare this, ok here goes:
Some of you who were at NAVA last month meet Devon, he is the "other guy" on PBC. He recently received emergency surgery and has the bills to prove it. He is strapped for cash and can not do anything for two months except stay at his parents and rest. If you want to see the full gravity of this check out this website, it will explain it better. http://lovefordevon.wordpress.com/
So....I would like to propose a charity tourney for him. I want to do a full 32 man tourney (or more if the demand is there) with $10 an entry the winner of the tournament will get a bunch of things from my collection, including a travel TV set for those console on the go gamers. All money will then be donated to Devon's fund so that he can recover. Any other donations will be accepted but if you want to donate before the event do it on the site above.
I am not asking you to do this because I am a fan of his work, I am asking you to do this to help out another human being that is need of help. Joe, let me know if this idea is ok with you.

This is from the website:
On Thursday, February 28, Devon underwent emergency surgery. He thought it was the Vietnamese food he’d eaten when in fact it was far worse. They had to cut him open and take care of his intestines and bowel. Fun. He’s been recovering for days in a hospital bed with hospital food and hospital painkillers. He’s getting all hospital-ed out, and hopefully he’ll be released soon. After he does, his mom’s gunna take care of him in his hometown for at least two months.
As he’s healing, there’s another stabbing pain that will take a much longer time to recover from. And that’s the pain of the hospital bill. He needs our help. There won’t be enough discounts from the government to help him. And something will need to happen with his rent so his roommates aren’t put out. If you can help him out in any way, please do. It doesn’t matter if it’s 2 dollars or 20, it’s just a bit of help to get him thru this hard time. We need to let him know that he’s not alone and that we’re here to support him.

Alright, we all know about Devon's situation over at lovefordevon.wordpress.com, now it is time to give back and kick some ass. At the next NAVA meeting (March 29th, see www.digitpress.com for details) there will be a Brawl tournament! The entry fee is 10 dollars and it will be 1v1, the winner will get assorted items from my collection including a portable TV to brawl on the go. Signups will occur around 5 PM at the event and all proceeds will go to the love for Devon fund. If you can please come out to help someone in need.
This was copied to every forum I am subscribed to, if you can please pass the word on so that we can get a good turnout.

Items off, I hope? And will we be able to use any controller? I could probably get at least two people to come, possibly three.
I know it's early to start talking about banned stages or counterpick only stages, etc. I won't make a fuss about that.

I'm thinking BYOC, the finer rules can be hammed out later, let me know what you suggest.

BYOC would be a good plan. Though it might be a good idea to have at least one or two extra controllers just on the off chance someone not "in the know" wants to participate. It shouldn't really be much of an issue. I just was wondering if you were going to mandate the Wiimote+Nunchaku combo like the Gamestop tournaments did. I didn't go but I can only imagine the headaches that caused.
My only real suggestion is no items. It's just too random for any real tournament when a starman just happens to fall on a guy's head. You may as well have a rock/paper/scissors tourney otherwise. Random stage selection would probably be best to keep it as fair as possible. Maybe loser picks if this is a "best of" competition (for the sake of time it probably shouldn't be).
We don't know of any abusable glitches or infinites yet so there's no point in going down that road.
Coldguy

I am thinking low items, and starmen can be turned off to avoid cheapness.

I don't understand why people play Smash Brothers with no items/no randomness in stages. It's not Street Fighter, nor should it be played like it is. The craziness of items and levels doing wacky things makes the game so much fun.

Yeah, it's not the way the game is MEANT to be played - but in a short tournament it creates too much of a random factor to truly discern the better player. You'd have to play 10 games to truly work out who won because they're the better player, since some random items can win a game for even a mediocre player.
In our Melee tournaments, we go so far as to rule out stages that have too many random elements as well. In fact, most really good Melee players are content with playing the utterly boring Final Destination stage for every level of the tournament.
It takes a lot away from the enjoyment of the game but it definitely puts a player's skills in the spotlight. Ultimately, this is what tournament play is all about.
LucidDefender
03-12-2008, 02:45 AM
I suppose everything you said makes sense for tournament play, Joe. I guess it would be like doing a high score in a roguelike tournament; s0meone would get an incredibly easy dungeon/item/monster scenario, and someone else would get completely screwed.
However, if any of my friends wanted to play with those rules at home, they'd get a look and a few words from me; especially since they like it just like I do fortunatly :)
I was curious if Joe would want to do a Medieval Mayhem tournament at the next NAVA meeting on the Atari 2600. Medieval Mayhem is a homebrew game that is more like the arcade version of warlords. The bug is fixed in this version that exists in the Atari version of warlords. Here is a link to a review of the game: Medieval Mayhem (http://www.ataritimes.com/article.php?showarticle=576)

Hey guys and gals,
Since I've been getting so many questions on specific game compatibility - this is an open call to any of you who own any of these titles.
I'll be bringing the RetroDuo down and setting it up so we can all give it a really really good "software stress test". We'll see if there is anyting that the thing won't run!
Here are a list of games that are confirmed incompatible with other NOAC systems.
NES
Bandit Kings of Ancient China
Challenge of the Dragon
Cheetahmen II
Crystal Mines
Gauntlet
Gemfire

I live in the DP area, what exactly is NAVA?
For you newbies, NAVA stands for North Atlantic Videogame Afficiiados. It began around September 1995 by John Hardie, Keita Iita, and Mike Etler, who hosted the quarterly get-togethers at his legendary Howell, NJ store: Videogame Connections. Three years later, John and Keita, along with Sean Kelly, took NAVA to a higher level by bringing it to the World of Atari show in 1998. A year later that morphed into CGE.
Mike sold the store around 2003 and for a while the NAVA meetings were in limbo, until Joe Santulli reinstituted them in the basement of his home. After he bought the store in 2005, he appropriately began hosting the meetings there and in 2006 the NAVA meeting became a monthly event.
Today, I believe Keita is living in Japan. Mike lives in Toms River, NJ and occasionally stilll pops up for a meeting. John is the only remnant from the original NAVA.
Information about NAVA can still be found on the Videogame Connections website: http://www.videogameconnections.com/meeting/nava.html

Hey Mike, we also spoke at the last NAVA meeting. My friends and I (Moonjump aka Nick and a few others) are still trying to figure out a good weekend to go to Castle Video for some Pinball. I am actually very interested in the Williams pinball for Wii cause as Moonjump said, I am curious if it is any good and worth picking up. I will also bring my copy of medieval mayhem.

I wanted to know if I should also bring my Wii to help out with the Smash Brothers tournament. I've got everything unlocked so everybody will have choice of characters. I'm not sure how many people will want to enter the tournament so I don't know if I should bring it or not.
I figured if we had two systems going, we can get the tournament done with faster so we can play some other games.

I think I'll run it like this.

So. Besides the SSBB tournament we have another Atari 2600 tourney going on. Once again, our friend Neotokeo2001 has provided a one-of-a-kind game with modified graphics and scoring specifically for this NAVA. And THIS time, *I* even contributed some ideas. It's actually pretty funny.
I'll probably run the Atari tournament just before SSBB starts.
Oh also, the Atari game will be auctioned off "for charity" to support Devon in the hospital. Win, and you will have just one of only two (the other one will remain in the store) that will ever be made of this game!

I could use a little help regarding the Brawl tournament.
When I do Melee tournaments, the rules have been as follows:
All characters are unlocked * All items are OFF * Stages allowed: Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, Pokemon Stadium, Battlefield, Final Destination, and Dream Land 64 * Match is played with 4 stock, 8 minute time limit * Ties are broken by stock, then percentage, then sudden death * Winner of one game advances to the next round * Final match is best 2 of 3 on Final Destination
I need the rules in advance so when we do the sign-ups everyone knows what they're signing up for.

My suggestion would be:
All Characters Unlocked
All Items off
Match is played with 4 stock, 8 minute time limit
Ties are broken by stock, then percentage, then sudden death
Final match is best 2 of 3 on Final Destination (Though it isn't a balanced stage despite the speculation. Honestly I'd say Battlefield is more balanced.)
Stages are tougher but I'd say ones to definitely keep off are:
Rumble Falls - Too much like Melee's Icicle Mountain.
WarioWare - Pretty apparent why.
Flatzone 2 - Same problems as Melee.
Big Blue - Very awkward.
Spear Pillar - Way too random.
Temple - Fights last way to long here.
Mario Bros. - Too easy to die.
Stages that you may want to keep off are the ones that aren't exactly random but may be trouble for various reasons.
Mushroomy Kingdom - Bigger guys can have trouble navigating through.
The Pirate Ship - This stage attacks you constantly and not always in obvious ways.
75m - I don't have a problem with it but some people may.
Norfair - The weirdness of the lava may be a problem.
Frigate Orpheon - Sometimes it gets dark and sometimes it flips over.
New Pork City - It's huge and there's a man-eating monster.
The Summit - The gravity changes and the fish at the bottom eats you.
Yoshi's Island - The low ceiling causes problems.
Jungle Japes - The water causes problems.
Onett - The cars and buildings make for a bad tourney stage.
Rainbow Cruise - Stages like this can be trouble.
Unsure:
Pictochat - Changes slowly enough and traps are obvious enough to justify keeping it but it's also kind of like Flatzone.
Hanenbow - I hate this stage just because it freaks me out. But there really isn't anything particularly horrible about it.
Mario Circuit - The racers are easy enough to deal with and they don't really screw up the fight. But it's still interference.
Port Town Aero Dive - Same as Mute City in Melee. I don't see any trouble with it but others might disagree.
Delfino Plaza - Doesn't do anything crazy but some might have issues.
Battleship Halberd - Not too different from Delfino Plaza.
Distant Planet - The only real obstructions are obvious ones but that monster is instant death.
Shadow Moses Island - I don't know. I'm feeling it both ways.
Corneria - It's pretty great but on occasion you might get shot at.
Green Greens - Again, a great stage but the explosives might ruin it.
Brinstar - The battlefield itself is fine but the lava might be an issue.
The Bridge of Eldin - The only obstruction is consistent and easy to deal with but it's a walk off stage.
Green Hill Zone - Only obstructions are the goalposts and the destructible center. Neither of which are random or hard to avoid. But some might not like the walk off nature of the stage.
Keep ON:
Battlefield - Obvious.
Final Destination - Obvious.
Luigi's Mansion - I don't see anything wrong here.
Yoshi's Island - Nothing to dislike here.
Lylat Cruise - Almost another Battlefield.
Pokemon Stadium 2 - Nothing wrong here.
Pokemon Stadium - Same as above.
Castle Siege - Pretty straight forward.
Smashville - Nothing wrong here.
Skyworld - Nothing wrong here.

I was trying to get in touch with Coldguy about this. (Sorry I couldn't get in touch with you on AIM, I fell asleep last night)
I don't want to turn the thread into a Smash Brothers debate. :deadhorse:
There's just some people that suck the fun out of the game for me and that's why I don't play it for tournaments or at conventions. There's a reason why I haven't played Melle in a few years. My own friends were guilty of acting like that.
I like to play it four players free for all, 3 minute timed battles, all characters, all stages set to random and all items set to medium. Default settings.
You guys decide what way you'd like to go with and I'll set my game to it. I've got the 200 KO Extra Options so I can turn the stages on and off and even set it so you can't pause the game in the middle of a round.
I just wanted to add this. Most of my Game Cube controllers are shot, their both problems with the C-Stick. One of them is stuck down and the other one doesn't click right so if there are some C-Stick Smashers, their not going to be happy using my controllers.
I wanted to see if you'd make it BYOC "Bring Your Own Controller" because while I know most people are going to use the Game Cube controller, it would be nice to give them the option to use the other controller types. I'm just worried about my controllers getting beat up.

Coin battle?
I don't mean to be rude but...are you nuts? If there's one horrifically flawed aspect of Smash Bros. it's coin battle. This is mainly because you don't really have to be any good or even "fight" at all to win. You can just as easily collect the coins that fly out as you get pummeled and very often coins of high value will just randomly fly around landing on your head. The guy getting beat to hell can win very easily if he's good at running away and avoiding a KO.
Standard stock (with a time limit for the sake of keeping the matches of reasonable length) is really the best way. Stamina mode would even be more appropriate for a tournament than coin battle.

Just one on ones, with 3 or 4 stock. Items are off, but if extremely insisted on, no dragoon or final smash.
Edit: This would be for all rounds, not just final.

I have to agree with Apollo, 1-on-1's are the way to go. If time does not permit then a free-for-all would work I guess. From experience, a three-way match isn't a good idea, nine times out of ten turns into a double team.
From my experience of running tournaments at Game Crazy, it is usually best to keep it as 1v1, with either no items or items turned on low (with out any recovery items of course), and narrowing down the stages to anything that doesn't have a random element to it (like Norfair for example). Just some ideas thrown out there.

Looks good for my fiance and I to show up for a little while on Saturday. I'll bring a trade box if anyone's interested. Doubtful that we'll bring any kind of fresh baked goods, especially not the creative kind, but we'll try.
Looking forward to seeing you guys there.

We're getting close so here's this month's QUICK REQUEST.
Bring SNES cartridges for sale or trade, please. Preferably not the "fringe stuff", I have enough of those, but rather the common and uncommon popular titles. Loose games are fine. Mario anything, Nintendo first-party stuff, Castlevania, Contra, Metroid... you know the ones you most want to PLAY even if they're not rare. I will make it worth your while! Hook a brother up.

Looking forward to it. 2600 and I should be getting there around noon again to get videos of the place with little to no people that way it'll make for a much better video. Then we'll grab what we want to buy, get a bite to eat and set up for the tournament.

So here is my write up about the event, straight from my MySpace Blog, so it has been copied and pasted:
So NAVA was awesome, Jimmy, Eddy, Darryl, and myself went to NAVA once again to have a great time like we always do over there, the one thing that was really awesome/weird is that people came up to me and asked "Are you Dylan? Dastardly Dylan?" (people know what I look like cause over at the DP forums I once had my avatar set as me) and Once I responded yes, they would say its awesome to finnaly meet you, and we had convos and now I have meet some new friends.
Jimmy won the 2nd prize and got a signed copy of RetroWareTV DVD Season 1 (which I also bought at NAVA which is amazing), and sometime this week they should have up his results on RetroWare. Stay tuned (www.retrowaretv.com)
While the tournament was on, PBC showed up and everyone greeted them like "Hey its the giant floating head and Captain S!" they were really cool to chat with once again, Chad and I had a nice convo on how Sonic has gone downhill, and Brett told us the horific story of how bad Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360 is.
Ronack and I meet again and we really let ourselfs go, like we were talking like we were best buds, my friends were talking to him and we were talking about ScrewAttack vids, upcoming games, and how great we did in the Brawl Tourney, I also finally met Moon Jump (also known as Nick) and he was awesome as well, he showed me this fun ass Pinball game on the Wii which I have a eye on when I get a Wii. Which reminds me of how I did in the Brawl Tourney, my god, my heart was pounding when Joe called my name, I went against...... some guy I forgot his name and he used Sonic and I used my best character, Olimar, it was a great match because we both had one life left, people were cheering my name, it was crazy, and I went flying when he hit me, and everyone in the store roared like "NOOOOOOOOO" and i responded back like "I CAN’T LOSE! NOOOOO!" came back down, and beat him down and I won and everyone was happy! w00t!
the second round was fierce, I had to go up agaisnt my friend who is by far better than me, Darryl, but in the start of the match, I was beating him, but it was bullshit what happened to him before, he couldnt save himself cause the stage moved, even I felt bad. But what was REALLY bullshit is that I WOULD HAVE WON BUT MY FUCKING PIKMIN WEREN’T THERE FOR ME! we both had 100% damage and I hit him to the side, I would of WON but I had to pikmin to throw wat him as he was coming back to the stage, so I tried to stay in the game, but he beat me down. Congrats Darryl
Darryl also came in third place and he won... well... got a high 5 from Nick. Awesome.
Jimmy went against this guy for 1st place, it was an intense match, but Jimmy came through but lost, what was weird is that he read that guys mind, like he knew what moves he was gonna do next, and won a signed copy of RetroWareTV as I stated before.
After the Brawl tourney, we just met a whole bunch of other people, I got Dan from the new ScrewAttack show "Life in a Game" to come down, and we played Brawl together and he’s an awesome guy, im really looking forward to his show, he used Olimar in the tourney as well which was pretty cool but at the same time I was like "whoa... if I go up agianst him its Olimar vs. Olimar". INTENSE!
PBC was in the back, watching vids on the computer, mostly funny vids, but they were watching videos for most of the event, but I had a chance to talk to Chad and Brett as I stated above once again. Steph from PBC also showed up but we didn’t really talk cause I was really busy upstairs talking to other people, she asked if I can bring her down in the basement since im in DP member, and she asked my name I responded "Dylan, I have seen you on the PBC boards" she replied "ohhhhhh! your Dastardly Dylan!" then I responded "yeah thats me nice to meet you!" (Steph is quarky on the PBC forums)
And then we had to leave at 11 cause we couldn’t find a ride back, I said goodbye to Joe and Ronack and coldguy, I didnt have a chance to say goodbye to PBC or the Press Start guys cause once our ride arrived we had to get, plus they were busy watching funny shit on the computers in the back.
This month’s was awesome, and I am really looking forward to next month’s. I hope to see more G1’s down there next time cause honestly, you’ll never find a store like this one in your life, ever.
Pictures from the event are in my pics! check em out in the NAVA Meetings album!

Hey all, it's Brett from PBC Productions. First time posting here, but just wanted to say hey, and that NAVA was a lot of fun yesterday. We always look forward to our trips out to DP, and it's great to see everyone from cyberspace IRL. I know Darrin had a blast and spent a lot of money for his first trip out, and I'm sure Devon will be back once his innards stop acting like NOOBZ. Plus, now that Z is done with her puppet show, she will more than likely be accompanying us from now on. Again, good to see everyone, and can't wait for next month.

I know there are mods and equipment out there that can get the photos off of the Game Boy Camera directly, but to me that is too much effort when you can just get a composite/s-video T.V box for your PC, attach your Super Game Boy to said box, and extract the photos like that. I actually have a Dazzle Digital Video Creator 80 for my computer which is a basic composite/s-video converter for the PC but, surprise surprise, it is does not work on my new Vista laptop and my XPs are all out of service or close to it. So until I get a new T.V box of some sort you all have to cope with my ghetto approach in getting the pictures off my camera :(. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thanks again, Joe for running such a lovely event! I was not really participating in any of the major events at the latest Nava like the Brawl tournament or the move watching going on in the basement. I was very happy to see that as soon as I came to the event I saw and talked to many recognizable faces even though his is only my second NAVA. I felt very welcome and comfortable even though I was in the background the whole time. I hope to be able to bring my HD monitor or one of my smaller T.Vs over to one of the future NAVAs and bring some games for some people to play since I am a better contributer than a participant at large gatherings. Does anyone want to be bothered with Bemani games [I have a plethora of them for my Japanese PS2, like Pop'n Music, Keyboardmania, Beatmania IIDX, and the Japanese version of DDR Extreme]? We already killed Rock Band and I know Taiko no Tatsujin was brought to a previous event [which I own also with two drums] so there may not be a huge reason to bring any of them along...
I love being able to use the internet cafe computers for free. My friend from Avenel, NJ and I took full advantage of that throughout the whole time we were there. Playing Dawn of War and Warcraft III against someone sitting right next to you is much better than playing online. I also equally loved that Last Blade 2 was put back on the Neo Geo cabinet. Classic sword fighting at it's best!

Nice job. Thanks for co-hosting the Brawl tournament, that made things run much quicker. Thanks also for making my photo blurry in your gallery there - that's the way I'm meant to be viewed!
Thanks for the pictures. I tried viewing the store webcam but it was faced in the wrong direction and then someone put a red plastic cup in front of it for most of the night. Those joystick brownies look really cool.
Scott, we didn't get to the secret Atari tournament this time, which of course has built up suspense. I think the April tournaments will be heavily Atari-centric because the elder NAVA members were looking for something old school last night. So you didn't really miss anything directly relevant on the webcam.
Everyone else: Scott (neotokeo2001) has designed some very nice 2600 tournament games that you may have seen in January and February. The latest game is really REALLY cool though. It just didn't fit into March's schedule and did not deserve to be a "late night extra" in my opinion. We'll have some fun with this in April.
So here is my write up about the event, straight from my MySpace Blog, so it has been copied and pasted:

Chris!! what's up dude! my friend Jimmy and I were talking to you for a while, it was really nice to meet you and we hope to see you next month!
That goes for everyone! See you all April 26th!

It's nice to see some of you guys who visit the store creating forum accounts. As I've mentioned to some of you, I'm much better with handles than I am with real names.
Though I've learned that if I just call you Chris, I'm right 59% of the time.
I had a 17 hour day on Saturday and had to work again today so I'm a little beat. Just catching up but I should have my NAVA photos and a video or two online tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Is it a shame how common my name is? The only cool thing about my name is my last name, "King", since it gives the false appearance that I am leader of all Chris' wordwide for the day when we all rebel for reasons unknown. We all know you worked very hard at Nava, Joe, so next time I see you I will be sure to bring you some Bengay for your back which must be super tired and aching after you pulled that heavy Steel Battalion down for me. You are both the strongest and coolest gamer I know [*salutes*].

It was super nice talking to both of you! I was especially referring to the long talk me, you, and Jimmy had when I said I felt so welcome at the latest Nava even though it was only the second one I ever attended. It really is possible for us gamers to expand our horizons. I think I may cry [*tears stream down face to the theme of "This One's for the Children" by New Kids on the Block*].
Do I hear some love for a Last Blade tourney, perhaps? Though, if the AVGN shows up again, we should have a special tourney in his honor. Justice League Task Force, anyone?
A Last Blade tourney would be pretty cool for sure. Though take note some kid at Nava busted my little brown butt in Last Blast not once but twice meaning that fighting game tournaments may not too good for me even though I am competent at them. But hey, I should never be scared to try new things even if I suck at them :-P.
Lets do a Magicial Drop 3 tournament one day too. I love that game like you do not know [*hugs Sega Saturn copy that I own*].

Greg and I stopped by in the evening to get a feel for the NAVA meeting. It was our first time attending one, so we didn't really know what to expect. A bunch of people were really into the Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament in the front of the store and a bunch of other people were selling and trading some classic goods in the back. There were also two people dressed as Mario and Luigi.
I traded in some NES games and bought Ghost Squad for the Wii, which is quite good. I also had a nice talk with Frankie. I didn't know people were watching a movie in the basement. Which movie was it?
Frankie, any luck selling the printer or will it make an appearance at the next meeting? :)

I've done some spring cleaning in my studio space ... this stuff is coming with me for trade/sale.
One semi-dead NES R.O.B. electrical works, but seems to not make a full rotation in his start up test. Cosmetically BEAUTIFUL and 100% complete with paper warning tabs on the spinners.
Frankie, It came to my attention as I was reading through the forum that I was looking for that at NAVA, I was over at where you were selling your stuff, wasnt sure where you were, and I didn't see a ROB. Was it already sold?

Semi-dead R.O.B. was the first thing to go - the moment I set up...which is strange, as I couldn't GIVE him away two or three NAVA's back.
Sorry!

I guess it's the wonders of being in a Smash Brothers game, just look at the Game and Watch.

Pictures from this month's event added. A tiny bit of video, too. See signature below!
Thanks again to the attendees, including our new partners over at PBC Productions and screwattack.com - the gathering gets bigger and better every month, that's good for everyone.
