Atari Video Computer System / 2600

GALAXIAN

· There are 2 different formations.  The first one (picture #1) appears for waves 0-15; the other (picture #2) appears for waves 16-99. {Scott Stilphen}

· BUG: After completing 99 waves (picture #3), the counter rolls to wave “0” (picture #4).  The next wave starts at “1” again.  The difficulty doesn’t reset.  {Scott Stilphen}

· BUG: If you manage to roll the score without losing any ships, and then earn another free ship (at 1,007,000), the reserve lives icons will become corrupted (picture #5). The game was only programmed to display a maximum of 3 ships, and the values used for 4 or more are bits of actual code from other parts of the program (outside the table).  {George Riley}

· BUG: The manual incorrectly refers to the aliens as the Galaxians (i.e. “Galaxian invasion”, “Galaxian fleet”, etc). In the original arcade game, the players are ‘Galaxians’ and the enemies are ‘aliens’.  See the arcade Easter egg entry for Galaxian for more info.

· BUG: Kill screen - Although nearly impossible to achieve, earning 136 reserve lives would crash the game, since one of the data tables that these pointers are called from begins at $FF70 (triggering a bankswitch and jumping into the middle of an instruction @$D9B5).  {George Riley}

· FRYING: Creates wave “0”.  Fry until you see your ship, them press RESET.  Only 2 or 3 Galaxians will attack, however the game usually crashes in a few waves. {Scott Stilphen}
